Partially Serrated Blade Ryan Model Seven Folding Knife -
Talk about makers with a style of their own! Steve Ryan, one of the plethora of new knifemakers, has a style so much his own that the new collaboration with Columbia River Knife & Tool screams out his name. The Model Seven is as distinctive a folding knife as one has ever seen. The 4-1/2" handle is covered with black, deeply textured Zytel® that gives the knife the most secure possible grip. The deep bellied, 3-1/2" modified drop point blade of 420J2 stainless steel at 54-56 Rc., can either cut, slash, or chop. The deep finger notch in the handle gives the most positive of control. This knife has a removable belt clip and large, double thumb studs for positive opening. The LAWKS® safety effectively turns this folder into a fixed blade knife when locked. It assures that the Walker-Lock cannot unlock accidentally.
Drop Point Blade -
This blade has a gentle, sloping convex curve to the point versus the concave curve of the clip blade. Being thicker, this blade point is stronger for heavier tasks. It stands up to abuse well, but isn't as effective for easy penetration.
Serrated Blade -
A serrated blade has a cutting edge that has many small points of contact with the material being cut. By having less contact area than a smooth blade, the applied force at each point of contact is relatively greater and the points of contact are at a sharper angle to the material being cut.
420J2 -
420J2 is a low carbon stainless steel and also the lowest grade of cutlery class stainless steel that is available. It is quite tough and resistant to corrosion. It has low wear resistance and edge holding ability making it a poor choice for a blade steel.
LAWKS® -
Many CRKT folders feature the patented Lake and Walker Knife Safety system. This system converts folders into virtual fixed blades when the blade is opened and locked, and when the LAWKS lever is slid forward. To fold the knife, simply slide the lever back, and release the liner.
Ambidextrous - Using both hands with equal ease. Pertaining to knives, it is a knife that is not solely designed for a left or right handed person but can be used with equal ease by both hands.
Zytel -
A glass filled nylon material used in making handles for knives. DuPont trademark.
