I have a 5.56 bear creek upper on my ati lower ar- 15 will the Russian 5.56 x 39 caliber cycle ok in my firearm ? Notice it is a shorter cartridge . I had a friend help me source and build up a budget “ Johnny Cash” from several different parts some new some bought used and removed for what ever reasons his friends didn’t like the shooting characteristics. It’s 5.56 16” barrel no can yet.So now I am shopping for ammo two reasons. Protecting my Queen and our castle and Dell (63) minor arthritis and fibromyalgia and (59 me high mileage aches decent health) I practicing. I mentioned the latter she is concerned about hard kick. She started shooting about 8 years ago red Ryder to get basics of guns. She can pick off squirrels lol more aggravating them. They eat her bird seeds. It would break her heart if she hurt one of her squirrels. Anyhow ????I talk too much. But looking for ammo . Thank you.????
Answer:
Hi Keith! Please *do not* buy 5.45x39 ammo. It is only meant for Russia's AK-74. Your rifle is only designed for 5.56x45 ammo, though it can also safely fire 223 Rem. Let me know if you need any specific recommendations!
