My New EDC Pack: The GGG Grey Ghost Throwback
I went with a 5 stars even though it is really a 4.5. The bag/pack is sweet, but...  well, here's my thoughts. I am replacing an EVOC XS cycling pack for my Mac Book Air (13" by 9") and related gear that I carry everyday.  The Grey Ghost Gear Throwback easily fits the Mac Book Air.  I think a 15" by 10" laptop could fit in the main compartment. For me, I wanted smaller rather than bigger, and the Throwback met than criteria.High marks:  First and foremost, the material quality and construction matches the price point, not a question here.  Excellent fit and finish and detail.  This is a quality pack all around.Negatives:  As one who needs plenty of water intake, the biggest set back is the lack of an exterior option for hydration flask storage.  Yes, the pack has a camelback pouch, but that is not my system or purpose with this EDC pack.  My own D2D hydration is done with a flask, not with a bladder.  Yes, there is an interior flask storage arrangement, but when employed, it limits the other storage aspects of that compartment (ie laptop).  I may go Molle and resolve this on the side panels using the cinch straps (??).Positives:  The hook/loop (Velcro) attachment points on the interior compartments have already been utilized for my personal prefs for a small item storage bag that the pack does not address. The look and feel of the pack is EXACTLY what I was looking for in and EDC backpack.  I did not want a pack that had the tactical look in my workplace and in my place of worship.  Definitely a sleeper pack that has a vintage or classic look with contemporary features and construction.  For the most part, this pack will be carried on one shoulder as my EDC pack.  It meets the ease of use and comfort level that I have been accustomed to with my previous pack.  The four cinch straps are a bit overkill for my use, but I am hoping to take advantage of their presence for my hydration flask storage.Lastly, there are four interior compartments available to make use of.  The smallest compartment is more of a pouch, and is useful, but rather shallow and deep at the same time.  Shallow depth on the access from  the top and excessive depth on the storage aspect.  My average hands had a problem digging to the bottom of this small compartment, coins at the bottom might be there for years. Some of this comes from the compact size of the pack, some of it could have been addressed in the design phase. The final compartment to determine its usage is the water bladder area.  It is a bit narrow on the top at the opening, but I am working thru the possibilities for my gear.  It is an easy access velcro opening against my back.  I am thinking an analog notebook or journal or similar ??  The photos provided don't show it, but the bladder compartment has openings or vents at the very bottom corners.  I am not sure of their purpose or intent, but small items would find their way out of this compartment if not properly placed in the provided pouch at the bottom portion of the compartmentOverall, I am very pleased with the pack.  The look and feel, along with the quality of the waxed canvas material are the highpoints for sure.  It is a tad bigger than my previous EVOC pack that barely fit my Mac Book Air, but this was the smallest pack I could find that didn't look like it would fail under day-to-day use.  If you are looking for a smaller pack for daily use, I recommend the Throwback !!
