There is no need to forfeit your safety or your protection when you purchase a value focused handgun.

While other makes and models of pistols in this price range are a compromise in quality or features, the SD40 VE is a full-featured handgun for the price. The spec-sheet reads exactly like a duty-pistol because this is a duty-pistol. The S&W SD40 is a striker-fired, polymer-framed, standard-capacity, .40 S&W handgun with a stainless steel slide and barrel, a safety-equipped trigger, dovetail sights, an accessory rail for lights and lasers, front and rear slide serrations, and an aggressively textured frame. With a benefits list such as this firearm has, the Smith & Wesson logo on the slide and the backing of one of America's iconic brands is just icing on the cake.

The SD40 VE is chambered in the iconic .40 Smith & Wesson caliber. Originally designed by S&W Winchester to meet the needs of the country's premier law enforcement agency, the FBI adopted this cartridge in 1990 in order to have 10mm projectiles in a 9mm-sized gun. The .40 S&W, with modern-designed ammunition is still the pinnacle of self-defense ammo. The .40 S&W is an unbeatable terminal performer though intermediate barricades, and the .40 can only be matched in bare ballistic performance.
