The brass frame "Navy Type" revolvers are identified with the Confederate manufacturers Griswold and Gunnison, and Leech and Rigdon. Brass was used for the frames because of the scarcity of iron in the United States. They were modeled after Colt Navys and feature a blued 7.5" octagon barrel. This 6-shot single active revolver was one of the most widely used.
