During the Civil War, the 1858 Army was a highly sought after cap and ball revolver because of its strong, top strap full frame design and 8" barrel. This black powder revolver features a steel frame, top strap/post sights and a brass guard with walnut grips. Although the cylinder has six chambers, normally only five are loaded, and the revolver is carried with the hammer down on an empty chamber for safety.
