The TacStar original SideSaddle shotshell ammunition carrier allows you to easily mount additional ammunition directly to the side of your shotguns receiver. This convenient location allows you quick access to additional shells since carrying additional shotshells can sometimes be cumbersome. The backing plate is made from aircraft grade aluminum and the polymer shell holders are virtually indestructible. The mounting of the side saddle is easy and does not require the use of a gunsmith.

"I bought this shell carrier for my Mossberg 590 and its awesome. It holds the shells in a way that they won't move due to recoil, but they can still be pulled out easily and quickly. A definite must for any Mossberg."

"I had the elastic but cuff on my mossberg 500 12ga. But when I changed both stock and front grip for the TAC STAR Grips I needed another shell holder. Holds the shells tight and does not interfer with any of the other accesories. Very easy installation, but use of lock tight on all screws is strongly recommended."

"great product but here are some crucial tips.first loc-tite is not recommended, its mandatory.after i installed mine on a m500, the 6 allen screws holding the shell-holder to the aluminum(?) baseplate completely backed out after 6 rounds of winchester 3 inch 12 gauge magnum buckshot. second don't be a dummy like me and strip the replacement screw for the ejector tang.I haven't had a a chance to test fire since correcting these problems will update soon as possible"

"the plastic shell holder completely ripped of the baseplate after just 2 rounds!!!!.the 6 allen screws were still firmly attached to baseplate.i was firing the same winchester 3inch magnum 00 buckshot, and the side saddle was loaded with 6 rounds also.so this may be more suitable for bird or target loads(?)."

"This is a great product, but ABSOLUTLEY WILL NOT FIT OR WORK if you have a pistol grip/folding stock that comes over the top of the weapon. I'm sure it is possible to 'modify' the side saddle by cutting away some of the rear material so that it would fit when the stock is folded on top. I think that you would lose the look and the practical use of at least two of the shell slots if you chose to do this. I have a Mossberg 500 Tactical shotgun with pistol grip, and unfortunately none of the gun ranges where i live allow you to shoot without some stock attached to the gun. I purchased an ATI Universal Folding stock for my gun and immediately noticed that the stock will not close completely with the side saddle attached. I had to make a choice."

"I have had this for years with my mossberg 500. Not one problem even after reading about stripped screws, but i dont ever remove the shells during shooting. Have fired many rounds with it on still solid. 100% satisfied"

"Bought this item just to try it out and I really liked it. Simple to install on a mossberg 500. The first time using it I did't use locktite on the little nut, but after over 200 rds at the range, the side saddle was a little loose but still functioned perfectly. Holds shells tightly and is the fastest way I can find to reload. It is still new so I don't know how durable the platic will be. It adds extra bulk to the reciever which I do not like but that's a personal preference. This item does what it says it will and I'm very pleased with it."

"Just purchased and installed on my Mossberg 500 Persuader. It holds the shells tight and was very easy to install."

"Great product. Easy to install. FYI if you have a 16 gauge. The shells will fit, but are a little loose. They need to be placed with metal side up."

"This is a good item, don't get me wrong. But when you first install it use Lock-tite on the screw that goes inside the action. If you don't then that screw'll end up like mine, it'll strip the last thread and will not hold the nut and become useless."

"Well, this thing just arrived for my Mossberg 500A and it doesn't work with my UTG forearm! The plate accomodates the 500, 590/600 models; however, on the 500, the plate extends to the very end of the reciever (barrel end) so a \"field grade\" forearm that extends onto the sides of the reciever can't cycle. I have the UTG Mossberg 500A Tactical Metal Forearm (SHT-150: which I bought from CTD) and it won't workwith this side saddle because the forearm butts up against the end of the mounting plate when trying to cycle a new round. Then the installation instructions say that TacStar is aware of the problem and they suggest we buy their forend or the 4 shot side saddle. That would have been helpful information in the item description CTD! Anyway, I refuse to give up my UTG forearm because it is sweet, so I'm going to have to take the plate to a shop and have them drill and tap a new hole; hey if I had a drill press, good set of calipers, and a hand tap lying around, then I probably wouldn't be so upset (unfortunately, my garage isn't big enough). Lame CTD, very lame! Regardless, it looks like a nicely built accessory and Locktite is \"recommended\" to be used on all screws in the actual installation instructions, so I'm going to use it once the thing is modded. This is the only time that you have let me down CTD, but you've tainted our relationship forever. <|^{ And add a warning to that item description!"

"The shell holder instructions were superior to IKEA, and with the LokTite it seems work well after three trips to the range. Makes it a little hard to reach the On/Off on my red dot though. My scouts tell me it looks really cool."

"I really liked this product until today. I have shot about 500 shells including 00 buck, and slugs. I finally broke it. The six small screws that hold the plastic to the metal backplate completely stripped and pulled themselves out. In retrospec I would buy another one but remove the shells when shooting heavy loads."

"i bought the side saddle for my 870 an moss 500 8 shot i read all the feed back an said for the price y not work with it some i used some 2 stage poxy 2500 pre squr in around the holes an it willnt move at all no matter what u do so if it brakes its worth getting a new 1 down the road"

"This is all you will ever need for a side saddle. High quality plastic which is sturdy and holds 12 gauge shells tightly. Instructions are easy enough and I installed in about 10 minutes. I use thread locker on all screws. No problems so far.Flawless install on the Mossberg 500 and looks great."

"This was easy to install on my Mossberg 590. Mind you that I was not installing for speed but for quality and it only took about 20 minutes. The saddle holds the shells tight and fits perfectly on my 590--no modifications necessary."

"I excitedly installed this product with ease on my mossberg 500... However once I put it on, I was extremely disappointed to find that because my forend (Black Plastic) extends, on the rear end, over the receiver, it would not cock all the way back. Thus not allowing me to be able to chamber a shell. Making my shotgun a very cool looking paper weight. I either will have to trim an inch of the forend or return the product. :("

"I received this as a gift from my uncle for Christmas. I excitedly installed this on my Mossy 500A and put it away on Christmas day. I was very disappointed when it came down to using this, as I could not cycle my action because the rear of the factory Mossberg fore-end interferes with the front of the side saddle when trying to cycle and does not allow for the full movement of the action.I busted out the Dremel. I love my gun, but my uncle more and this is an awesome accessory. So after several passes this is what you need to look for to see it will fit right. IF your fore-end extends OVER your receiver when you open the action, you will have to either modify your fore-end or purchase one that doesn't.Now that my tool is of value to me again I have to take it back apart and put Loc-tite on all the screws, as I missed that on the first time through.CTD, you need to update this description like mentioned by others to include what the packaging says about the fore-end."

"I bought this for my Mossberg 500 Cruiser 12 gauge with pistol grip. It is easy to install, very solid once installed. It will be a very handy accessory."

"It does not fit the Mossberg 500 on a regular composite grip. You can't cycle the rifle because the foregrip hits the saddle. More importantly read the package they want you to by a \"TAC STAR\" foregrip in order to have the gun cycle correctly.NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!DON'T BUY TAC STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I bought one for my Mossberg 500 and it fits perfectly. Very easy to install. I loaded it with \"Door Breaching\" shells."

"Please keep in mind these of items are mainly focused at the tactical end of the spectrum, for home defense or for LE/Military use, this product works fine on my mossy 590 with the short tactical \"corncob\" fore end, it is a fine product so if it is a must have."

"FIRST OFF - if you have factory 500 or 590 with the factory pump/forward action it probably wont cycle resulting in you leaving bad feedback for an excellent item due to your negligence of reading. I have a Mossberg 590 but I had already purchased the SUREFIRE M70 Anodized Aluminum pump/forward action ( Around $150 from OPSGEAR.com )which does not overcycle into a sidesaddle. There are other kinds of pump/forward actions you can purchase that does not overcycle into the side saddle or if you are handy with a dremel tool you can cut away some of the action so it will cycle correctly. Anyone with anykind of common sense can install the side saddle or pump/forward action. You only need to supply a flathead screwdriver and locktight. It includes the allen wrenches and instructions, if you order the surefire m70 it includes the pump/forward action castlenut wrench and excellent instructions. Do not overtighten bolts - make sure to use red locktight so the bolts dont backout due to gun use. Item is excellent and I highly recommend if this is what you are looking for as long as you have the pump/forward action that goes along with it."

"Got this for my Mossberg 500 and it is great... holds the shells tight so you don't have to worry about them falling out. Easy install and a great buy!"

"It held the shells really tight. I am pleased with it."

"Awsome product, I didnt have any problems putting it on, Great service and turn around. For those of you that were told you have to have a forend pistol grip for this to fit on your weapon is wrong. It works perfect with the factory grips. Editors Note: Remington 870 models with the standard forearm will not work with a side saddle."

"It took about twenty minutes to install, and it was easy. It's just what I was looking for, I have not shot it yet but it feels solid."

"Easy install on my Mossberg 500. Snug shell fit, beats carrying extra shells in my pocket. Very pleased."

"Ok this is my first review and waited to shoot after install. This is a must buy if you do mostly target shooting, and a even more so if you will use for home defence. It is so much easier to reload, even faster with pratice. I put 3 inch shells in it, and it isn't in the way of the pump, sights, trigger or any thing I ran into and I have really big hands. Have already tried to get my roommate to buy one because he has a 500 as well. The only odd thing I can thing of is it now takes a bolt to take off when you go to clean the trigger assambely. But that has nothing to do with the operation, of the side saddle. Also I have the 6 round butt sleeve holder so it is great to use with that also. BUY IT!!!"

"Didn't fit my Mossberg 500. When I installed it, the forearm stock ran into the first shell holder half way through the pump cycle."
5.0 5
"It holds six shells of 12 gauge and is SUPER simple to install...what more could you want? I have no gunsmithing expertise and this took me about 5 minutes to install. The holder is very solid and withstood 3\" magnum shots without becoming loose or budging at all. If your shotgun's forearm goes over the receiver, don't be an idiot and buy it. It does take up the entire side of the receiver. Otherwise, this is a fantastic buy for any Mossberg 500A."

"A great product. Works fine on my post 2,000 Mossberg 500. I had a fore grip with rails from Promag which is shorter so it works fine, the pump will not make contact with the saddle. The stock fore grip will not work with this! It holds shells solid and feels very durable and abusable."

"Two comments below it tells you that you need a tactical forearm required so it will fit your gun"

"I've ordered a lot of stuff from this site and it's all been good. Super fast shiping and quality products. I ordered this for my 500 tactical and installed in minutes. I have no gunsmithing experience and after reading the directions and watching a quick YouTube video, i got it on my gun very fast and easy. It took longer to watch the video then to install this. It works great, holds the shells snug and didn't need to change any other parts. If you're looking to hold more shells at your ready, this is a must have."

"I installed this on my Mossberg 500 and it fit perfectly. The instructions were sufficient and I was able to install it in about 20 minutes. It works and looks great. It securely holds the shells in place and the side-saddle itself mounted securely to the shotgun. I recommend this product. Just in case those relentless zombies attack your home, you'll have plenty extra ammo available for quick reloads, to blow them off your front porch!"

"Installed on my 12g Mossberg 500A I bought back in 2007. Fits great and installs easily. I had no trouble with the factory forearm cycling. This is the 7+1 model. I am happy with this purchase and I would defiantly recommend."

"Was easy to install on my mossberg 500A. However, replaced screw of the ejection port gets loose after 20+ shots fired. Also, sometimes shells falling out from saddle during the shot"

"I'm your typical mechanically inclined engineer. Took me about 15 minutes to install. Appears to be well designed. Is tight. Haven't shot with it on yet, but have confidence all will work out quite fine."

"Just installed the Side Saddle and love it. Installation was pretty easy. Just be sure to clean out the port for the new screw in the breach or it'll be slightly tough screwing in. Grips the shells tightly and looks excellent on my Mossberg 500 Cruiser."

"Fit perfectly on my M590A1, only took few mins to install."

"Found this to be an excellent product. Easy to install, holds the shells tightly. Had wanted to use the Side Saddle with the ATI Universal ShotgunTop Folding Stock, Item # 11635. However, there is far too much impact with the saddle to allow it to close. Some forethought could have prevented this, but we'll see if it'll be something that can be further modified to fit. As always, CTD is quick & efficient with their ordering."
