Optical sights may be more efficient for long range engagements, but in a close quarter combat situation, iron sights can be the best option for rapid, accurate target acquisition. Co-witnessing iron sights is possible (and advised) when using a red dot or holographic sight without magnification, but isn't really an option with a magnified scope.
These sights make it possible to make a rapid transition from magnified optic by having the sights offset from center approximately 45 degrees. Designed by Barry Dueck, director of SurreFire's Suppressor Division and a top 3-gun shooter, these sights mount directly to a weapon's picatinny rail and make it simple to transition to iron sights by simply canting the weapon with your wrists and locking on to the target. That's the kind of smooth, quick transition that could make the difference between winning or losing a competition, or a gunfight.
