The StrikeForce fire starter will easily ignite any dry tinder material. It is safe to use for your backpacking stoves or barbecues. The StrikeForce fire starter is perfect for a survival kit, camping gear, or for hiking. The patented StrikeForce is an exceptional all-weather flint based fire starting system. The system offers you an all-in-one compact, durable package, with a special alloy flint bar, and hardened steel striker. Scraping the striker down the flint generates a spark three times as hot as a standard match to ignite any dry tinder material. WetFire brand tinder can be stored in the handle, but is not included.

"I have tried the magnesium bars, and they work okay, but compared to this... I took this outside on my porch where it was lightly snowing and gusting 30 mph. I took the tinder that came in the handle and rolled it in the snow. Then I set it on a rock and started striking next to it with the Strikeforce Fire Starter. It took about five strikes (less than 15 seconds total) before the tinder lit. It stayed lit and burned in the wind just fine. FYI: I also took one of the MRE gel packs and tried lighting a \"pile\" of the gel under the same conditions (minus rolling it in snow) and it would not ignite no matter how hard I tried with the Strikeforce Fire Starter. I finally took a lighter and held the flame next to the MRE Gel and it finally lit. In my experience these little Wet Fire Tinders that come with the Strikeforce Fire Starter are by far the easiest lighting \"fire starter\" material around next to Esbit tablets."

"A must for every outdoorsman. Works like a champ, great spark, compact, it even holds a chunk of fire tinder. There is no reason to not have this tool in your gear. It could save your life. A definite buy, you won't be disappointed."

"Wow, received Strikeforce yesterday and couldn't be more pleased. Immediately took it out back to test it out. Had a fire going right away without the use of the WetFire tinder. It works as advertised and this thing is big (5 and 1/16 inches). I've used other fire steels and the magnesium bar, but from my experience this is the superior fire starter. Folks this is one of those must have tools for the camper, survival kit or your BOB. Give it a try and I don't think it will disappoint you."

"I own the original Gerber Strikeforce that I have had for Approx. 5 years and love it a truely quality piece for outdoorsman, hunter, bbq lover or emergency use this thing does it all! The original strikeforce same as this one except available only in black and a different tinder. The strikeforce was designed to be not just a firestarter but a signaling device in emergency situations because of its extremely bright output when struck with its striker.I ordered several of the new blaze orange strikeforce firestarter because the color is the only way they could improve this product. Buy them while you can find them!!!!!!"

"I tried it the first time on the weekend using some dryer lint. Works great! Better to wear a glove before striking because the striker kind of short and your fingers might hit the ground and get hurt."

"The Strikeforce works great! I buy one for every Boy Scout I know when they send me an invite to their Eagle Court of Honor. I wish the price hadn't gone up but I guess that's what keeps them in business. If you think it's too expensive, what would you pay for dry matches when you're cold & wet?"

"Works Great! Worth every penny! I used it with cotton balls and Vaseline. Impressive. The only thing is... it's a bit bulkier than other starters."

"I am very pleased with this product. The sparks this thing creates are big and hot. I've used this thing to light dryer lent, leaves, paper, pine needles, and dry grass. This is definitely worth the money and I plan to get more of them."

"This has worked perfectly for me. Some complain it's a bit bulky compared to other starters, but it's not a problem. I have carried it in my pack, tied to a loop outside my pack, and in a coat pocket, without a problem. You don't need the starter tinder that comes with the kit. Scrape the flint with the steel, black dust will come off the flint. Scrape for a minute over a leaf or piece of bark to collect the dust, put the dust in a little pile, put tinder near the pile, one good spark will ignite the dust and it will burn like its magnesium, instant fire."

"I backpack often and this starter goes everywhere with me. I bought my first one more than six or seven years ago when they were only black. Been up in the Rockies over several of the \"Fourteener's\" for lighting my small whisperlite stove. Been in the rain and the snow and it work great! It may weigh a little extra but I have not used any other fire starter as reliable as this one. I have purchased more of these for others including Boy Scouts, to keep on hand in my home, with my large Coleman Stove, in my travel trailer. The original black one is still in my backpack whenever I need it."

"Watch the video. Buy it. Become a fire god. Seriously, the best fire starter I've used. 90% of the time I get a flame on my tinder with the first strike. A necessity in your outdoors gear."

"I have many different Fire Starters from Flint and Steel to the StrikeForce. The StrikeForce is head and shoulders above the rest. I have started camp fires on the banks of the flooded Shenendoah River and in the Rain Forest of the Great North West. My least claim to fame was setting the living room carpet on fire, first strike, right out of the box. I was elated. Wife was not pleased. Thanks for a great product."

"Today, I taught my wife and two small children to use the Strike Force in about the space of twenty minutes. They each start a fire twice in about that time. Awesome device!"

"This thing is great! I got this instead of the blastmatch just because I feel moving parts are less reliable. If you pair the StrikeForce with some wax covered drier lint (my favorite) you will have your fire going in less than a minute everytime."

"Wow this was a pleasant surprise. First I read a review for this product and the person suggested using dryer lint coated in candle wax for tinder. I would love to shake their hand because it was a great idea. I received the fire starter and grabbed my son to watch and gave it a test. Two strikes on my tender and it was going. My home made tinder burned for about 6 to 8 minutes in the wind. I have added some paper around the tinder to give the sparks something more to catch and it keeps the lint together in the storage compartment. This is a must for any camper or bug out bag."
