Trident (Straight Edge) Knife -
The SOG Trident uses well proven means of delivering a knife blade to the open position with S.A.T. (SOG Assisted Technology). This knife has patent pending Arc-Actuator allowing the Trident to lock stronger and releases easier. There is also a built in safety to lock the blade closed. When it shows red, you are ready to go.

What also makes the Trident so unique is the patent pending Groove in the handle, which allows the operator to cut paracord, fishing line, etc. without having to open the blade. The handle also includes a DigiGrip variable pattern for coarser grip in areas that require it. SOG's bayonet style clip is easily switched for right to left hand carry or removed for pouch storage.

AUS 8 -
A Japanese made medium carbon, high chromium stainless steel, which offers a good balance of toughness, edge sharpness and corrosion resistance.

Zytel - A glass filled nylon material used in making handles for knives. DuPont trademark.

Arc-Lock -
This lock just might have the perfect lock with its totally ambidextrous design, and all attributes knife designers relentlessly search for, but rarely find. The Arc-Lock far surpasses conventional lock strength te sted at over 1000 lbs of force measured at the lock in an independent lab test. It provides lightning quick, one handed opening and closing capability. Spring action securely retains the blade closed. When unlocking, the fingers are safely kept clear. The Arc Lock is self adjusting over time and can be easily cleaned for long term optimal performance.

SOG Assisted Technology -
Knife Works through the balance of opposing high-tension coil springs. As one opens the blade the force to propel the knife open becomes greater than the closing force and the blade will open on its own. The end result propels the blade out once the operator has initiated the one handed opening action. S.A.T. works so well that right handers can use their left hand equally well to open a folding knife (of course this works oppositely for left handers).

"I've had my Trident for over 3 years now. I work with Law Enforcement, EMS, I'm a firefighter, and I've used it in combat. The Trident is amazing. The assisted-opening is a great feature, the main reason I bought it. I do have a problem with the locking feature, sometimes I pull it out and the lock is engaged, but I plan on fixing that by pretty much locking it in the \"off\" position. Just a consideration, it really doesn't bother me to the point I would call it a negative, as some people would prefer this feature. But sometimes I may have to pull it fast in a hot situation, so I'd just prefer to not have the worry. The locking mechanism and the release feature are both sturdy, when the blade is open, its gonna stay open. The release is right by your thumb, making it easy for one-handed opening and closing. The paracord cutter feature is a good idea, but I never really use it. I tried it once and it just took longer, so I just opened it up and cut the cord. The clip is ambidextrous, so you can mount it on either side in the event you're a lefty. All in all its a great knife. There are several different versions of this folder, I have the model with a tiger stripe-like design on the blade with the half-serration. I typically used to replace my personal folder every year. So every year I looked forward to buying a new knife to carry. I haven't done it in almost 4 years, and I'm really glad. Sorry for the rant, but I abuse my gear and if somethin works, I want others to know. Enjoy all."

"I never heard of SOG, then my son bought a Trident, and I instantly wanted one for myself. I have K-bar knives, baynonets, a half-dozen Swiss Army knives, a couple of Buck knives, a couple of Case knives, and a slew of small pocket knives, but I've never had a knife that I liked as well as this one. It's just the perfect knife! Easier to open than you can imagine, sticks in your hand like glue, stays locked no matter what, and easily closes. Sharper than sharp!"

"My favorite knife of all time cool clip fast opening and strong lock. My most expensive pocket knife but its worth it. I've been carrying the trident for over 3 months and I found it very comfortable the knife opens with almost no effort and the groove in the handle is great for cutting lines and those stupid tags on clothes without trying to find sissors or opening the knife. . The knife shape is also scary to say the least and the almost switchblade opening is a good deterent. I would highly recomend this knife to anyone looking for a good EDC knife"

"Very nice knife, blade comes out fast, awesome looking, not as sharp as id like out of the box, and the jimping on the top isn't the best. But the pocket clip on this knife is very underappreciated, probably the best thing about it"

"I've had mine for most of a year and it gets high reviews from me on every count but one. Holds a great edge and works as advertised--though I have other assisted opening knives that deploy faster. As one other reviewer said, the safety-button is a nuisance--in that it seems to deploy by itself from time-to-time. I don't use it--if only it would stay in the \"off\" position, I'd be happy (but it won't). I carry mine as a tool, but also as a weapon of last resort--and not knowing if it will be locked or not is a real problem. When I take the time to disable the safety, it will be a near-perfect knife."

"This is my first assisted knife I have purchased for EDC. A great knife, good grip, no play with the blade, nice flicking action and I have no complaints."

"After carrying around cheap folding knives for several years, I decided I wanted to invest in a proper blade, one that would last me for a while. This knife does the trick! Excellent opening, sharp edge, good edge retention, and handy to carry about. It has also been completely submerged on three separate occasions and is none the worse for wear... just dry it out a bit and you are good to go. The flicking action is still almost as smooth as the day I received it and I can see no rust. The \"safety\" can get accidentally be pushed to \"safe\", but it is only a minor inconvenience. Excellent purchase and speedy shipping."
