"Installs very easily. The hardest part is removing the original rear sight aperture. I had to slightly enlarge the pin holes on my SKS rear sight assembly using a needle file, in order to install the roll pin that come with this kit. The roll pin only acts as a retainer for the security of the rear sight. The rear sight in combination with the Williams front sight, is very easy to use, and see; especially when compared with the factory originals. They almost appear via some electrical means. Adjustments are easily made. I am not sure about the durability of these sights, but they appear to be well made, and durable."

"A good idea, but poorly designed. I think this sight is flimsy, something more suitable for a air gun or 22. It should have been made much heavier as would suit a real military rifle like the SKS. Any good bump would likely snap it off. I put the original sight back on."

"I bought both the AK-47 and SKS versions. They're both the same or almost the same. I tried the The AK version on my Saiga(AK-47 style rifle)The sight popped out too easily. It also seemed that the pin it sits under tended to obstruct the view. I guess because it is so flat. There were other problems but probably are fixable with some locktite and a file. Quality is what I expected for the low price. It was hard to take off the old sight. Modified C-clamp didn't work. Padded/taped vice-grip worked for me.Putting the old sight back on I had to use a small piece of hard wood. This was much harder than taking it (the old sight) off. (Wear safety glasses). It's just not worth the effort."

"A screwdriver worked extremely well for removing the factory sight. Press down in front of the sight, but make sure you've got it in a gun vise. I agree that it could be made a little better, if it installed like the factory original instead of with a roll pin. It's relying on the pressure of the spring steel tab to hold it in place under the roll pin. No test fire yet, so I can't judge its stability under fire. It does seem well made though. Sight acquisition is extremely fast and accurate."

"This is how the stock sight should have come. There's really no need for a scope with this sight. Combined with the fire sight, it's a joy to shoot open sights again."

"I've fit this sight to two of my norinco (chinese) SKS's... one a military style and one is an SKS-M. It fits both models ok, but not perfectly. The sight base isn't quite wide enough on either gun, so you can move the sight side to side and it stays there. Accuracy at ranges over 50yds suffers as a result of this. Also, the size of the peep is a little too large for my tastes, it leaves alot of room for error. This would be a great sight for a close range defense rifle... but if you are trying to shoot paper targets or tin cans at 50yds or farther stick with the original sight."

"Sight has potential, but needs some modification. I had the tools to make a new aperture for the sight (original is FAR too large), which was much nicer. As the previous reviewers have stated, it's okay for a very quick 'n dirty sight picture. To put it in perspective, standard peep sights holes are about 0.062\". This guy was no less than 0.150. Massively oversized. It does also move around. This can be easily fixed with a dab of JB Weld (removable with heat, if you ever feel inclined)."

"Other reviewers say the sight hole is too large, but considering this thing is mounted in the middle of a rather long rifle as opposed to closer to the eye like on an stock AR. I don't see what their problem is. These things WILL fall off if not properly secured... a bit of loctite will do the trick though. Combined with the firesight also sold here at CTD, this thing vastly improves the sight picture of the SKS rifle. platform. Perhaps not as good as the rear mounted variant (arguable), but unbeatable for the price and it looks cool too..."

"This is my 2nd Williams peep sight. I put one on a Maadi AK 10 years ago gives me great service-- This one went on Norinco Military Type 56 Chinese SKS. It fit like a dream and unbelievable upgrade in sight system for the price. It cut groups in half at 50 yards. I was a little hesitant because of the reviews, but this one is just as good as the one I bought ten years ago."

"This rear aperture sight is worth the price. I turned out a 90 degree screw driver inserted under the gas tube latch, gas tube off of coarse, held down the flat spring for removing the original sight. If you like peep sights as I do, you'll be happy with this. I'm gonna contact MFG. for other diameter apertures. I also bought the cover with 1 inch rings for a light, laser, or whetever."
