Silver Bear ammunition is a cost effective solution for today's most demanding shooters.

The Barnaul Machine Plant JSC is one of the leading producers of industrial goods and ammunition in Russia. The plant's history goes far in the past to the period of Alexander I. The Emperor ordered the opening of the first cartridge plants in St. Petersburg in 1869. During World War I the plant supplied the Russian Army and operated out of St. Petersburg, During World War II, the plant was relocated to Barnaul, where production of various types of cartridges began.

Silver Bear loads feature a distinctive polished zinc plating on the steel cases which ensure exceptional reliability, functionality and feeding a variety of firearms. The projectiles are made from lead however may contain a bi-metal jacket which will attract a magnet. The cases are Berdan primed which makes them not-reloadable, however the ammunition will have a much longer shelf life when compared to other factory loads. Silver Bear is loaded to exacting standards to ensure you receive a quality product. It's clear to see why more people are turning to Silver Bear to meet their everyday ammo needs.

"This ammo works fine in my 9x18 pistols. Everyone I know uses it for practice and defense. It is the most common ammo in use for 9x18's."

"Good economical practice ammo, the exposed lead helps to cut down on bounce-backs. I have had failures to expand during water testing. Not a good thing. Typical results with the batch that I tested: NO core expansion. Some peeling back and fragmentation of the jacket. Shoots thru 3 (1 gallon) water jugs. Stopped by hanging towels after that. Maybe it was just a bad batch , but that's what happened. 5 Bullets as practice ammo. 2 Bullets as defense ammo ( maybe a little better than FMJ, for sure better than begging for mercy.) Your mileage more vary."

"this ammo is great at close range. i mean, really close. at 15yds out accuracy starts to take a big hit. it's also magnetic so some indoor ranges may have a problem with it.it's ok in a pinch, but i wouldn't stake too much on it."

"I burned through most of 2 boxes with 0 failures in my 1993 Russian commercial Mak. I usually hand load for this round with hornaday HP bullets. The only failures I've had in this gun were weak powder loads on my hand loads."

"Ihave used Bear for last 1000 rds, in my Makarov IMEZ very happy"

"Good ammo, can't beat it for the price. Ordered 100 rounds and then 200. Shoots thru my FEG PA-63 great."

"This round performed very well in all aspects of shooting. @25yrds no noticeable drop. It performs excellent for close quarters shooting. which is what PA-63's are for. Defensively speaking this round always showed good expansion with little peel back. I don't know about ya'll, but my house isn't big enough nor am I willing to try to explain why I had to shoot someone at any distance greater than 25yrds."

"This is my 3rd bulk ammo purchase, all 3 orders arrived the very next day. Have not shot from this batch yet, but 5 bullets for phenomenal shipping. Have had ZERO failures with my previous purchases. You've got my business. Thanks CTD."

"No failures out of my Polish P-64. Can't beat hollow points for this price."

"I've carried Silver Bear FMJ for a while in my Polish P64 with excellent results. I jumped at the chance to finally get some JHP from CTD. I had zero failures to feed/fire from the JHP version. Before I put them into full-time carry duty, I'll run more rounds through the gun, but so far, I've been very pleased."

"I've just had another chance to run a good quantity of this through my Polish P64 this weekend at the range. I had zero failures to feed/fire, so for me, this JHP has been as reliable as the FMJ variety. I am comfortable carrying either the Silver Bear FMJ or JHP."

"I didn't have any issues getting this ammo to feed or fire, but I doubt the effectiveness of this ammo for defense. I tested it with a few phone books and water jugs and most failed to expand. At most I was getting slight jacket peeling. Unfortunately there are very few alternatives to this for defense 9x18 ammo. I guess I'm going back to FMJ for defense ammo in 9x18s."

"This ammo is amazingly accurate out of my CZ-82's. It outperforms (for target accuracy) ammo costing twice as much, though I won't mention any names. I gave it 4 bullets instead of 5 just because the cases are non-reloadable."

"I ordered this ammo based on favorable reviews. I ordered it on a Monday afternoon; I received it the next day, Tuesday afternoon. I WILL order more products from Cheaperthandirt and I will recommend them. George"

"I was very excited to receive these rounds, at first. They loaded fine into my IJ-70 magazine. However, when I went to unload the mag, I noticed that the tip of the round would get caught on the front wall of the mag. Upon attempting to load a round from a full mag into the chamber, the slide hung open and did not load the round into the chamber. I'm glad I didn't find this out when I had to defend myself! I have shot the Brown Bear FMJs out of my Russian IJ-70 with no problems."

"Performs very well...been using this ammo for a few years now. Feed my CZ-82 with it and have not had a misfire or fte. I have used both FMJ for practice and JHP for CC."

"This is great practice 9x18 ammo; if you can find it cheap, load up! Do NOT expect this to perform as well as premium defensive ammo - the hollow point performance of these is iffy at best and they aren't anything I would rely on for defense (buy a box and look at the hollow point quality on these, then draw your own conclusions). For serious defensive use, Hornady Critical Defense or Buffalo Bore 9x18 rounds are far better choices. But if these are on sale cheap, they'll make awesome ammo for practice or plinking. Just don't let the JHP confuse you - they are Bear ammo in all ways, for better and for worse."
