The Barnaul Machine Plant JSC is one of the leading producers of industrial goods and ammunition in Russia. The plant's history goes far in the past to the period of Alexander I. The Emperor ordered the opening of the first cartridge plants in St. Petersburg in 1869. During World War I the plant supplied the Russian Army and operated out of St. Petersburg, During World War II, the plant was relocated to Barnaul, where production of various types of cartridges began.

This high quality ammo features distinctive highly polished zinc plating on the cartridge case; hence the Silver Bear name. Silver Bear offers high quality at reasonable prices. Other manufacturers reserve the silver cases for law enforcement, safari and specialty ammo. This product uses Berdan priming for long shelf life and sure-fire ignition.

"i've tried silver bear in many other calibers and had always been very pleased with the performance. i never had the chance to try it in 308 because of the price, but CTD made it possible for me to acquire ample amounts of this ammo. the performance of this ammo through my saiga 308 is outstanding. accuracy is great from an AK platform at between 1 1/2-2 inches at 50 yards with open iron sights. could be half that with a good scope and mount. the bullets expanded well comparable to commercial rounds like PMP and CORELOKT. penetration was about 14 inches into wet news media. definately the best bargain for a soft point 308 round thats performance is top notch."

"I have used this ammo in my Remington 660 and gotten .75 inch groups at 100yds consistantly also with .223 ammo of same brand in my NEF single shot.I would recomend it to my best friend or anyone wanting good consitant ammo."

"I Fired off 40 rounds today and for the most part this is a great range ammo. I had 4 FTL 2 FTF. Great ammo for practice would not recommend for anything else."

"This is really good ammo, it works flawlessly in my M-1A. The ammo is 145 gr. but it works great for anything out to 300 yards. For a range of over 300 yards, I would recommend a heavier grain bullet. But for this price, its great for a nice day at the range. I am buying more of this ammo. Thanks CTD."

"Went to the range with 500 rounds of this and it shot VERY well and amazingly clean in my ptr-91. Started with VERY light coat of oil on the weapon and made it about 450 rounds before the first jam, tiny spritz of oil and it was running like a dream still. Cleanup was a breeze. -Needs- to come back into stock SOON!"

"Great mag dump ammo as the title states! did not hold good groups fun to just range shoot! Do not use if you want to sight in a scope or iron sites! Went threw 200 rounds and had 3 FTL! one of which was my fault for touching the mag! Cant expect to much at .50 a round!"

"I bought 100 rounds of this ammo and ran it through my M1A Loaded rifle. Only shot one 10 round clip without a jam. It also leaves red debri from the primer sealant. This ammo is definitely the worst ammo I have ever come across."

"By far the most dirty ammo i have ever shot! Got a brand new PTR 91, cleaned it, shot some of these out of it, cleaned it again. the second time i cleaned it there was more grim and black junk in it than the first time i cleaned it (new guns have a thick coat of time protecting oil- not lube)BUT for this price who could really complain, i had no stove pipes out of the 400 i shot. Maybe it was just the brilliant design of my PTR, maybe it was the ammo. Now if i can only find some Brown Bear..."

"Bought 100rnds of the 145gr stuff while deployed. Just tried it through my FAL. Despite trying several different gas settings, I could not get this ammo to feed consistantly. Would not always generate enough pressure to extract...even with the gas system fully closed. Consistant jams with steel cased ammo are a terrible for you rifle. Yes, it was dirty too, but I expected that. There is a reason the price is so low."

"Works great in my kimber 84 .308 and my M14 but my DPMS hates it. Amazing ammo for bolt actions though. I use alot of silver bear in my Mosin Nagaunt so i figured id give it a go...I'll be going back to American Eagle."

"Put 20 through my PTR-91 last weekend, worked great. Not lacquered --- a big deal for me. I shot these last as it's not advisable to shoot brass after steel. I wish they made .308 HPs like they do with .223! Will buy more."

"Bought 120 rounds of this and it shot GREAT through my Marlin XS7 and Tikka T3. I had one fail to fire out of about 80 rounds shot, must have been a bad primer. This stuff is really accurate. I was pegging things at 300 yards with it and it seemed really consistent. At this price, you can bet I'll be buying more!!!"

"Went through 330 rds in two days. not 1 missfire, or malfunction in the saiga. Very accurate out to 200 yards. I wouldnt be afraid of downing a buck at that range with the Soft points."

"Bought 100 rounds to test in my RRA 308 carbine. No jamming/FTF issues whatsoever, even when firing fast. Using an EOTech, shot about 3-4" at 100 yards. I bet the ammo is more accurate than that if I had a scope. I was surprised how powerful this stuff was, it generated quite a bit of recoil (that's a good thing in my book). With the soft point and the price, you can't go wrong."

"Junk in an AR-10. Usually took 2 strikes of the firing pin the get them to go. NOT worth buying for an AR!"

"I picked up 100 rounds of this stuff. It won't shoot in my FAL or AR-10. I put it in my R700 and it shot pretty good. 3 inch groups at 200yrds. Shot great in my buddies PTR, too."

"I have put about 100 rounds through my Marlin XS7 with no issues. It does leave a little bit of the red primer seal on the bolt face, but that usually comes off with a q-tip. Consistently holds 3/4-1" groups at 100 yards. I even had several 1/2" groups. I dropped a 210 pound doe at 175 yards with one shot. After skinning, I realized it actually went through both shoulders. Impact side was pretty much destroyed but the exit side was 85% intact. When it hit, she spun a little more than 90 degrees, dropped, twitched for about 7 seconds and didn't move again. Will continue to use this ammo for hunting and target shooting."

"Purchased 200 rds for my Ptr 91(Full length standard version). Brand new gun, never fired before. Out of 200 rounds, I didn't have one problem. NO FTE, FTF, or duds. Very happy. This ammo is very consistent and accurate in the HK 91 clones. It shot point of aim every time, I didn't touch the sites on my new rifle and I was repeatedly breaking clay pigeons at 100 yards..no rest or sand bags. I was going to try the TULA next...but this stuff works so well I don't want to compromise anything to save $1.50 a box. Thank you CTD!"

"I picked up a few boxes of this a while back and ran it through my CETME. Grouping was good, on average 2-3 inch groups on iron sights at 75 yards. Can't beat the price for the quality of ammo. Shot just a tad dirty, but when put up against ammo that cost 3-4 times as much it's well worth the extra five minutes spent in cleaning."

"The pro's: cheap, nice case for steel ammo, loads easily, CTD's quick shipment. Con's: one ugly FTF, it completely expanded, primer about popped out the back, bullet gouged into the barrel. 140 grain in my Remington 700 caused a 5 inch drop at 100 yards. Buy this if its OK to miss what your shooting at, like paper."

"a little dirty but much more accurate than brown bear. My 11 year old son went from eight inch groups to 4 inches @ 100 yds. and I brought in to 3 inches. Not bad for cheap ammo with just a bipod."

"Now the bad. I had horrible ejection problems with this ammo, ESPECIALLY with the way the M1 works with the top feeder. The clips kept ejecting after 1-2 shots if I tried to rapid fire. Even single shots were doing this after four shots of the eight round clip! I had rounds of a different kind and went through six mags without one ejection prematurely! So I think it was the ammo. My gun just didn't like it. The cleaning of my gun was bad. This junk gunked up everything and was a pain. So yeah, it's cheep ammo, but I cant use it in my gun unless I fire one at a time and in the gun I am using, thats a pain and not recommended. Also, if I pay a little more, I'll get better stuff. Besides, if I was worried about price, I'd buy a .22! I wont buy this again."

"Runs fine in SCAR 17. Put 200 rounds through it to test function and accuracy as this is the first non-brass ammo I have shot through that rifle. All rounds fed, fired, and ejected properly. Accuracy was very good. Ordering more now to stock my practice ammo can with."
