"Used this item a Float/Camping Trip last weekend (Temp 90+) and it worked great, not even wrapped as it should be it provided great shade, and kept my head cool."

"I've only used this a couple of times, and it works great. Especially if you learn to wrap it properly (google is your friend). Very lightweight, but strong and provides good protection from the sun and sand. Just make sure to wash it REPEATEDLY before using. I dyed a few buckets of water completely dark green with this on the first wash (don't toss it in the laundry). When the water stays clear, you're good to go!"

"My wife ordered this for me to replace the one I acquired in Afghanistan that was recently stolen. These aren't quite the same quality, but close e-damn-nough. Of course, one must take into account my original was hand-made & these are mass produced. Thanks go out to CTD & my wife for this shemagh."

"I like the two shemaghs that I ordered but I would like them more if they actually looked like the ones photographed for sale here.My green one was a very dark green with black instead of the lighter green in the photo. And also my \"Tan\" shemagh wasn't tan at all. It says TAN/BLACK on the label on the bag from shipment but in fact it's a bright yellow and black. It is almost like school bus yellow instead of tan. That's a bummer."

"This is not like the handmade my uncle brought back from Iraq. However, it looks good, fits in my collection well, does the job, and for the price its not to bad."

"Great scarf/face wrap/impromptu sling. Covers entire face when done correctly, and is lightweight and just thin enough to be breathable. Good job and thank you, CTD."

"Great quality and great price. However it is way darker. Most of CTD pictures do not represent the true colors of the product.Remeber to soak the shemgh in a bucket of water for 5-8 hour periods over the course of a few days, before you wear it. You'll notice after the first few drenches in water that the water turns dark green from the dye.Overall, a great buy for outdoors, paintball, and airsoft."

"These are much darker than displayed. So remember to soak it. However, I love both of mine. Great for keeping warm when sitting out in the cold, and perfect for keeping cool in the summer when drenched in cold water!"

"These shemaghs are great and an absolute steal, but some friendly advice: As noted in other reviews, before you wear one of these soak w/warm H20 in a bucket for about 20 mins, wring out, repeat 3x. Whatever dye process they use is not very color fast. That's OK as I bought the OD and it has now faded from a very dark (nearly black) green to a lighter, more versatile color, very similar Similar to Army ACUs. In fact the shemagh goes great with my ACUs, and almost looks Army issue. I even machine washed one of mine in a delicate garment bag (with my ACUs) and now it feels like it's cashmere it's so soft. If you don't follow my advice, you will end up with green smudges on your face or neck where the fabric rubs. Have fun cleaning them off. I just got back from a deer hunting trip where I used the soft shemagh and loved it. I didn't do the whole jihadi wrap thing, just a scarf and half-mask kind of deal, but it was warm, soft, and comfortable. I also had a doe stare at me from about 10 yards away and not realize I was a human, between my Realtree cammies, skullie, and the shemagh. I will buy more colors."

"This is a great deal, especially for the price. It was a good replacement for my old Shemagh from Iraq. The only reason it did not get 5 bullets is the fact that the color does not hold very well, as stated before. I soaked it in a bucket of hot water and repeated x4. After that the water came through clear."

"This is a great for all season\uFFFDs shemagh. As with all cloths hand made from overseas the color will run at first as everyone else has said. This is good because the color is way better after a few washes. This is very comfortable and well made. I will be buying more and recommend you do too!"

"Like others have said HAND WASH THIS FIRST IN WARM WATER! It loses a lot of dye with these washes, but looks great after."

"Decent construction for a good price. These are imported from Pakistan. Once you get rid of the excess dye, the color is much more subtle."

"Like I said in the subject header, holy freakin dye! I received mine 2 weeks ago, and spent so much time hunched over the tub rinsing my Shemagh. I got the green digital colored one instead of the one that looks more grey and black. It is partially my fault I think. I do not recommend washing it in hot water as it will bleed more. And do not use any detergent to aid in the dye removal. Otherwise, I think it is a great deal and overall very comfortable to wear."

"I comes a bit darker than pictured - but that works for me. I was looking to camo my face / head while hunting. The size is big enough! I do suggest a wash and HOT dry (by it self) before anything else - this will set the dye in the fabric."

"This is a good product better than the one I was issued when deployed. I soaked in the sink over night, then washed it in the morning to get the excess dye out. Now a lot came out so make sure you wash it. It got here fast too! Thanks!"

"Good shemagh. Not as great as the hand made ones, but it keeps the sun off your head, and holds together well. The only thing I don't understand is all the people going through these ridiculous rituals to get the color to stay. I just threw mine in the washer by itself, and it came out fine."

"Personally this is my favorite. I hear alot of I don't know how to tie them. Check on you tube SHEMAGH TIEING 101 is very good. The guy's like these and I do too. I have 20 shemagh total we use for training with the ROTC and we love these. God Bless our Troop's."

"I like how this is a pretty authentic Shemagh. The designs are woven into it, not printed on as I've seen on other sites. If you wash this, please either do it by hand or use the gentle cycle. I used gentle and some of the tied knot ends looked like they were about ready to come unraveled. Wouldn't be surprised if this was done by hand and not machine. Real popular among my law enforcement/SWAT friends. This did fade slightly, but I'd still call if the OD green color. Didn't fade as bad as some of the other check knock-offs."

"I wanted the Army Digital but it was out of stock so I ordered the Green Digital. Very pleased with it so far. Great for extra warmth and in the warmer climates to keep the sun, and sand off of your head. Have not washed it yet, but plan on soaking it in vinegar first to help set the dye further."

"Rinse like everyone here says and the excess dye will come out."

"MUST prewash in a bucket, tremendous amount of dye released: rinse water looked like black coffee. Place in bucket, add enough warm/hot water to cover scarf, use hands to squeeze dye out. Dump water, repeat. Do this about 10 times and you will see the dye bleed out less and less. When rinse water is expelling less dye, repeat process with COLD water. Allow to air dry. Material is soft and comfortable to wear. Keeps you warm in cold conditions, bigger than western scarfs/bandanas to use over face as well as neck. +5 bullets for price and quality. -1 bullet due to need of prewash and lack of other colors being out of stock."

"The shemagh arrived with several holes in it, the worst holes are dead center. I'll bet this is made in Pakistan - maybe they supply the Taliban with Grade A quality and the US gets Grade D. I'd send it back but it's not worth the effort. If CTD reads this and sends a new one, I'll revise my rating (assuming the next one is hole-free)."

"I purchased this Shemagh to replace mine from 3 tours in Iraq that was simply destroyed with wear and tear. CTD never lets me down. Great product and very good quality. Good color and patern. Only reason only 4 bullets is you gotta wash it in cold water and line or hang dry. The colors can run if you dont."

"I bought one of these about 3 years ago and they were exactly as the ones pictures. A heavier yet very greathable cloth. Now they are a lightweight starched linen type of material. Completely useless as a shemagh or headwrap, but if you need 36x44 hanky...."

"This Shemagh is lame!!! I'm sure this is not cotton, but at the very minimum a polyester blend if not 100% polyester. The item description says cotton. I work in the desert in temperatures ranging from below freezing to 100+ degrees. This thing wouldn't last a week out there. The weave is coming loose strait out of the packaging. Cheap crap and I'm returning this ASAP."

"Having ordered a shemagh previously and recieved a good quality COTTON shemagh I thought I wood get another color and went with the green digital. They are some kind of polyester and have unraveled after a hand washing. You can read a newspaper through it. CTD stuff is usually of great quality but these are junk, sorry CTD."

"I previously wrote about how lame these shemaghs are...I'm happy to report that CTD refunded my total purchase price no questions asked the very next day. Although these shemaghs are of very low quality, the customer service at CTD is of very high quality and that is what will keep me coming back. Thanks CTD!!!"

"I got two and I think there just fine. When you use them around your neck there plenty warm and when you use them for a head wrap there thin enough to breath. Don't fear the washing machine. I put mine in on low setting with extra rinse and threw them in the dryer on low with no problem. I'm not hand washing anything. If it can't handle the machine wash, it's going in the rag bin."

"Bought one of these for my husband & upon it's arrival I spent 2 hours fixing the frayed ends in the hope that it would stop falling apart! We were both very disappointed with the quality of this product. The sides are already starting to fall apart & the ends are pulling & unraveling themselves. We were both hoping for a more durable product!"

"be sure to soak and rinse several times, thses make great wind blocks during long boat rides, use with goggles or around your neck with a helmet, have 2 and will get more for friends, almost too hot to wear indoors, wear loosly in summer to refract light and heat, great item."

"OK this is alright if you like light weight polyester but I promise if you spend the 2 dollars for one of the all cotton ones you'll be much happier. I order one of both and after I got them I bought a few more of the all cotton ones, not this one."

"I ordered 2 of these \"cotton\" Shemagh's. One of the Shemagh's came as advertised, cotton...the other...a very cheap polyester as others have stated. The cotton one seems great but the other is total complete junk! Do as everybody else has said and soak in hot water to get the dye to come out. I'd give the cotton 5 bullets and the other a big ole ZERO!"

"I would give this a five star but as some of the others have said this appears to be polyester not cotton. The ends appear to be hand knotted as others have said as well but I have had no problems with it coming apart. I am on the beach a lot for work and play and it is a great thing to have on. It dose what it is supposed to do and keeps the sun and sand off of you and out of your eyes. As for the one that said it thin enough to read though it is supposed to be that way. They are made to let out heat but keep the sun and wind at bay not to keep you warm in the winter."

"These shemaghs work better than scarfs or other face masks. You can modify your shemagh to be worn in various ways and really works. Obviously they were made for a reason and the military took it and are making good money off them now. Some units are even issued the shemaghs. Because they know they work in that area of operation. The people who inhabit that area designed the shemaghs to protect them from sun, sand, etc. Why not use them while over there for the same purposes? My unit conducts maritime security operations in the littoral regions in the Persian Gulf, and they have worked wonders protecting us from the sun and sand. Thanks Cheaper Than Dirt for supplying me with my shemagh."

"I don't know what the deal is with quality on these. My buddy has one that is cotton and it is great. The one I got is crap. It is polyester and fell apart immediately. I'm not sure how to tell which is which because I would love to get one like my friend got, but if CTD wants this one back they can have the pieces."

"These seem to be either perfect or garbage. It is up to your luck to decide what you get. Mine had a sticker that said 'made in Pakistan'. it seems to be 100% cotton, very big, thin enough to see through yet fairly well made. I would suggest washing this in a gentle cycle, as this isn't a hunk of denim; its a very, very thin sheet of woven cotton."

"This shemagh had to have the knots tightened before and after the first wash. Highly recommend air drying. Even after the first wash, this thing is still a very dark pine green; not an OD by any means. Still not bad, but don't count on it for optimum concealment."
