"I got this to mount on my Mosin Nagant M44. The product is of excellent quality the fit and finish on the parts is A+. While you don't need to make any permanent modifications to the gun in order to fit this, if you aren't the handy type you still MAY want to consider a gun-smith. I am not saying it's not easily doable but getting the rear sight off may be difficult for some people. You will also need a good set of allen keys, not all the fittings work with the single supplied allen rench; you will also need a screw driver and a punch to get the rear sight pin out. Here is the beware part: since the mount fits overtop the rear iron sight it is a good distrance forward from where one might normally find a sight. You will need a long (10+ inches) or unlimited eye relief sight and this will severely limit your choices. I ended up choosing a Tasco World Class 3-9x40IR because it has unlimited eye relief."

"After getting the wrong one sent to me the first time I was a bit skeptical about this one. But the second one was the right one for my gun and it was very easy to install(didn't even have to look at the directions, the parts are self explanatory) and seems to be sturdy enough to take the large recoil of the rifle. Having this really helps since I never had the front sights. Thank you!"

"I agree with the reviews writen it's a great mount, it took all of about 15 to 20 mins to see how it went together and have it mounted on the gun. Save the parts you take off though, I can't find a scope that will mount out of the way of the bolt and sit back far anough to see through. I bought the Tasco scope mentioned in PBR's write up. Great scope but can't see a dam thing, it's just to far forward."

"I thought the way it mounts on the rifle was fine but how far it mounts up onto the rifle was not convenient. It sits in your old sight seat. It requires you to get a pistol scope if you plan on using the mount."

"I have purchased this scope mount for the MN M38 Rifle I have and setting it up as scout sniper rifle. I researched several types of mounts and used the aluminum ones which do not tolerate the recoil from this rifle. I contacted S & K manufacturing and confirmed that for this particular mount its is all steel from screws to the base and all accessories including the scope rings. I an working with an NC Star Pistol/LER scope 2-7x have a good line of sight/vision very clear. The mounts is well made and a little heavy, but then again we are dealing with steel versus light weight aluminum. It took me about 1 hour to set up the mount and scope. The instructions do omit two screws which help in controling elevation on the base and also the screws on the side allow you to make windage adjustments or side to side without over adjusting the scope adjustment knobs. You will have about 1 inch of play to work with on the adjustment of the scope in reference to eye relief. I pushed it foward to allow the use of stripper clips if need be. I WILL ADVISE THAT THIS IS NOT A TRADITIONAL RIFLE SCOPE AS IT IS A LONG EYE RELIEF (LER) OR SCOUT MOUNT. I will do a follow up review once I test fire the rifle with scope to see if it tolerates the recoil and does not lose zero. I have read other reviews found elsewhere that this is not the case on this set up. I received it 1 day after ordering it. The service is very good here."

"I have test fired the MN M38 with this scope mount and it will hold zero. The secret is going to be using blue lock tight on the base screw and the screws mounted on the pin holes of the original sight. I will advise however that you make sure that you completely level the mount as the side screws will allow you to make windage adjustments aside from those on the scope itself. I used Czech surplus 147 gr Silver Tip Ammo and JMS Surplus brass ammo and it held the recoil and the zero."
