Russian Night Vision Goggles Great collectors item, Original Russian PNV-57 goggles combined with a tankers helmet for comfort and versatility. Developed in the 1960's, Gen I devices lacked the sensitivity and light amplification necessary to see below a full moon. Requires an external power source, they are large and cumbersome, less reliable, and relatively poor low light imagers. Displaced goggle design allows drivers to look down under their goggles at the instrument panel without refocusing the goggles for near distance. Includes screens to conceal headlights, Russian maintenance schedule, all packed in an aluminum case, used in good condition, non-returnable. Does not include power source.

"The pair that I got, after about 5 minutes of parts scrounging, were operational. These can easily be adapted to a computers' power supply OR the 12v socket in your car. Please note, these should be treated as a novelty item since you lose depth perception and there is a \"fisheye\" effect. I definitely would not recommend driving with them on.An IR illuminator would be necessary to get any practical use out of these. Still, a CHEAP and FUN item!"

"I bought these as part of a limited supply sale through this site a couple of years ago. I received the goggles, with 4 IR filters and accessories. The connector requires you to work on an older military vehicle, or can be rewired for 9-12VDC from what I have tried. They are like US Gen1'S and do have a fish-eye effect. The transformer on the back counter-balances the goggles on the front. It looks cool, and works pretty well. These units will not shut off in bright lights, so be careful to not damage the imaging tubes. I have seen these advertised for 3-10 times what I paid on here on auction sites. Always good to get a deal off of here. Buy them if you find them."
