"Cleaned and oiled this pistol, great finish, went to the range and it performed flawless! 200 rounds with a variety of ammo no failures, very accurate, own several 1911s like the 4\" barrel great defensive sights, factory mag worked great, as so did other name brand mags, very tight fit overall one of the best buys for the money!"

"This is a very well made 1911. The 4\" bull barrel is extremely accurate - Following the Rock Island Armory (RIA) owner's manual, 500 rounds should be fired before this pistol is considered \"broke-in\". My pistol has already shown tight groupings at 15 yards after only 300 rounds - and I expect it will be much better as 500 rounds are reached and exceeded. This is a keeper. I am an Oklahoma State Burea of Investigation retiree and this is my first personal 1911. My friend, who is also my FFL dealer and an arms instructor with the FBI, is also impressed with this pistol. This is one great bang for the buck. The smoothness of the trigger and accuracy of this pistol is equivalent and/or surpasses other 1911s I have shot - These include Sig Sauer, Springfield, Kahr, and Tarus, which cost upwards of $1000 plus. This pistol is small enough for concealed carry. The grip is excellent. The frame is all steel - The weight, while heavier than many of the aluminum offerings from Kahr and Sig Sauer, is not noticeable and keeps the pistol on target with accurate follow-up shots. The only negative, as far as I'm concerned, is the one-piece recoil spring, which is stout to say the least. The spring must be compressed and held in-place with a paper clip prior to removing the bull barrel. RIA sells the excellent Meprolight sights for this M1911-A1 MS for $100. This is the only modification I plan to make prior to making this my primary carry pistol."

"It's really 4.5 and I'd give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the sights. Overall, this is the best semi I've handled. Worth the price and it shoots very well. Bought additional mags and they worked great. Will change the grips to Hogue w/finger groove and eventually would like to change the sights. This is a great gun to shoot!"

"Fired 6 mags of 8 thru pistol. All 6 mags had at least one jam. Not just stove piping but the hammer block would fall down and jam the slide. Gun is accurate and fun to shoot. Hard to disassemble and reassemble. Would never trust my life to it, just doesn't feed correctly all the time. Really wasted my money on it."

"I ordered my RIA .45 on 11/19/13 and picked it up from my local FFL dealer on 11/22/13. The delivery was much faster than I expected and the gun is very nice, especially for the price. While this is one of many weapons I have owned over the past 30 years, it is my first 1911. Upon meticulous cleaning and inspection, the overall quality of this gun is impressive. Have not been to the range yet, but planning to do so tomorrow; I will update review after I've put some rounds through it. So far, I am pleased with my investment. Thanks CTD!"

"I bought this handgun several months ago and finally took it to the range yesterday. I loved the look of it immediately. Put 150 rounds through it, using different makes of ammo and both ball and hollow points. It worked flawlessly. No hiccups whatsoever. At the same time as I ordered this handgun, I also ordered two additional (Chip McCormic) mags. They and the stock one worked fine, and fit superbly."
