The M3 fighting knife was developed in 1943 and hundreds of thousands were produced during World War II. The M3 trench knife was issued to paratroopers for use as a fighting knife. They usually carried these strapped to the ankle with web straps cut from musette bags and a leather lace at the bottom to secure to the boot. Manufacture of these knives faded out in 1944, when the design was adapted to make the M1 Carbine bayonet.
This high quality reproduction features a classic sharpened double edge and a stacked leather washer handle. The parkerized blade measures 6.25" and overall length is 11.5 and is stamped "US M3 1943."
Imported, scabbard not included.
