The Hawken rifle marks the transition from the generally longer and smaller caliber Pennsylvania rifles to the shorter, large caliber Plains rifle. Favored by mountain men and buffalo hunters, Hawken rifles were first produced by Jacob and Samuel Hawken in Saint Louis, Missouri in 1823. The original Hawken rifles were flintlocks, with a transition made to percussion caps around 1835.
This modern day reproduction from Italian fine gun maker Davide Pedersoli is a historically accurate design produced with modern metallurgy, finishes and manufacturing processes.
