"Well I tried the Cherry flavor, it was good. They are like compressed powder, but very tasty. I'll buy more."

"A little different but not too bad. I tried the orange and it was good. It is a compressed powder energy bar which is a little different, but I will be buying more. 5 year shelf life."

"I had the Tropical Fruit. Very tasty! Will be getting more for emergency use. If no emergency..I will just have to eat them in 5 years!!"

"Well. They are compressed powder, as others previously stated. Their taste is about what you expect if you've ever had compressed powder military MRE sides/snacks. All in all, I enjoy the flavor, and it keeps me going. It does all it should do and hasn't caused any "digestive" problems :P. So five bullets from me."

"I had high hopes for the energy bars based on previous reviews. Yes, it is compressed powder. The flavor and texture leaves something to be desired. My wife and I tried the orange flavor. We couldn't even finish half the bar. If the world becomes complete chaos because of some sort of apocalypse or whatever, then I could see myself eating an entire bar. But that's after I've feasted on all of the vermin, bugs and various roots I could find. It was almost like eating saw dust with a dab of flavoring."

"Got these in a few minutes ago (placed the order yesterday afternoon, fast shipping, as always from CTD!) and had an orange bar as a flavor test (since there two of them and 1 of each of the other flavors), not so bad. Very filling, I think I'll skip dinner in fact. I highly recommend these as an emergency/SHTF scenario meal replacement bar. Or for hiking, etc."

"I expected sawdust, as a few others have said, but I wanted something long term that would fuel me for a few days in an emergency. I got the bars very fast (CTD has the best shipping) and opened an orange flavored one as soon as they came to see what it was all about. I must say, this stuff is really good. It has an interesting texture and great flavor. I have only had the one, but I think these will all be great. Obviously, this is not gourmet food you would feed to a king, but in a pinch, these are absolutely the best tasting emergency food to have, light, portable, tightly sealed and good for 5 years?! You can't beat it for the money. Highly recommended."

"This is basically a confection of crisco (partially hydrated oil)."

"Hey team ... As JW said, I bought these based on the great reviews. WTH are those guys thinking? These bars are NASTY! It is literally compressed powder. I work out (pun on the song) and have always eaten various protein bars .. most aren't bad, some or ok but these are the worst! Having said that ... if I were in a Katrina like disaster or locked down in hostile attack I'd rather have a few of these bars in my bag than to chew off my arm, but it's a close call."

"I read the negative reviews that these things aren't gourmet delights. You are correct. These are high calorie, high fat, and intended to be shelf stable. These things aren't going to be tasty treats. They are very dense, last a long time, and won't melt if you keep them in a hot car. I tried one and while I wouldn't go out of my way to eat one, it sure is better than hunger in an emergency. I intend to keep a couple in the car and perhaps stuff one in a cargo pocket on hikes. No complaints from me. I'd order them again."

"I bought these, along with some CTD plastic ammo cans, to make some emergency kits. These bars, some water, survival gear, and some first aid supplies fit nicely in an ammo can, and give me a grab-and-go emergency kit. I put two bottles of water and three Millennium bars in each kit and put the kits in my cars. I don't know if the bars taste good, but I don't care. In an emergency, they will provide calories, and that's what I want. They are individually vacuum sealed and have a long shelf life."
5.0 5
"I purchased these for my bug out kit. They are by no means tasty, but in a survival situation, they will keep you from starving. They are a bit chalkier than expected, but like I said before, it is survival rations."

"Great for Bug Out Bags, disaster supplies, etc. I do a lot of cross country driving so I keep some in both vehicles just in case, ya never know."

"I absolutely love these bars. I first had them at GSAR school with USAF Aux. These aren't made to be tasty - their function over form. I would literally get an MRE, take this out of it, and trade off the rest for another bar. I'd eat one and it'd last me 6 hours in the field. Some are better than others, but overall, they're pretty good. I'll be having them in place of Cliff bars, when I'm mountain biking, mountain climbing, airsoft & paintball milsims, hiking, etc. Or even at work, when I'm busy... Just grab one of these and 8 oz. water (you'll need the water to properly digest - and to be able to eat it), and you're set for hours."

"Don't be fooled by 400 cals for $1. While these are definitely better than starving, I'm not impressed with the nutritional value. I would much rather have 300 cals in a protein bar for a long day of hiking, hunting, fishing, etc. The sugar in these will give you a boost of energy, but then crash you back down in 2 hours. The taste is good; almost like a dessert cookie."

"They arrived pretty hard and sounded like bricks when I set them on the table. Will get the job done in emergency situations."

"I love these bars. They taste better than the other energy bars that I buy at the grocery store. Only thing is they do make you thirsty. I will be ordering more in the future."

"400 calories a bar. 5 bars = 2000 calories, ie, food for 1 person for one day (two if you need to stretch it). A few bucks gets you food for two people for one day - not bad! Flavor is better than I expected. I won't be living off of these alone, but I have five in my day bag, five in my car, and I eat one when I don't have time for a meal. I will be stocking these in bulk. The downsides: a little bulky for only 400 calories (but still super lightweight); DRY DRY DRY, just like crackers or any salted food (NOT to be eaten without water). Hope this helps. Bottom line: WORTH IT!"

"Eating the apricot flavor writing this review to taste test, it's actually really good! The other 9 are going in my b.o.b. In a survival situation, these would/will be a God send. Doesn't compare to catching game animals, but when you need them, they're there and are great for traveling! Just make sure to have water when you eat them, since they are relatively dry. Any survivalist knows eating uses water and not taking water in with any meal speeds dehydration."

"This is for keeping you alive or active. It's not a snack or to send with your kids to school. You can put these in your vehicle and never have to mess with them. The heat nor the cold will do anything to these bars. Great to have and at this price, you can't beat them."

"Finally tried a bar today. The wife grabbed a Cherry flavored bar and we shared. Both of us like it, good flavor. Just a little "gritty," as my wife explained. I will be buying many more very soon. Thanks again, Cheaper Than Dirt, for another great product."

"I have purchased these energy bars multiple times. I wanted these for long term storage, but I keep eating them up. They are tasty and just the right amount for an energy boost while on the trail or road. I keep some in my Jeep, in my bike packs, back packs, for kayaking, and long term food storage bins. I will buy more and they keep for years. Yes, you get the max 5 bullets on this one. Thanks, CTD!"

"Just got my shipment of these in, and am eating one now. I don't really like blueberry so I decided to try it first and it's not bad; a hint of blueberry but not overpowering. When I first felt the bars in the package, they felt hard as a rock, but when biting into them, they crumble easily. They feel hard because there's a lot of food packed together in these. They taste good. 400 calories a piece, lightweight. These things are well worth the $$."

"Great item for any grab bag. I'm pretty used to energy bars and the sort, so these go down pretty smooth. Make sure you have water to wash them down. I will be buying more and recommending these to friends and family. Thanks, CTD!"

"Most energy bars taste like cardboard. These actually taste very good. Great for a boost."

"Saw the reviews, and decided to give them a try. The taste was surprisingly not bad at all. Although, as many have stated before, have some water handy to wash it down. Keep some in your car, BOB, bug out location, bunker, or whatever."

"Dense bar is an understatement - more like a piece of 1x2 wood until you open the package. Very easy to eat. I really enjoy having one in the morning with a cup or two of coffee. I will be purchasing more of these!"

"Great tasting. I didn't get all the flavors and I ordered two and got four cherries, two apricots (only one in the other), two blueberries, and two vanilla per bag, but they taste great and last for four years. Can keep in your car, which is why I bought two (some for car and B.O.B). They are awesome. Kind of happy I only got three apricots (my least favorite) but still good to eat, even at home. Can't go wrong here. Get yourself some. They weigh 2.95 oz. Hard as a brick until you actually take a bite, then it breaks easily, but I still recommend using the side of your mouth. And have some hot coco near by:)"

"Contrary to some of the reviews on here, these bars are outstanding. They taste great and the price is cheap. If they taste this good in an ordinary situation, imagine what they'll taste like in a survival situation. Only reason they got 4 instead of 5 bullets is due to the low protein content. Otherwise, phenomenal edition to any prepper and great for bartering!"

"The bars taste great and have a great texture. I was expecting to get one of each flavor but I only got 4 flavors. I will definitely order more of these!"

"I live near the Outer Banks of North Carolina - keep foodstuffs handy for hurricanes. Notice the ratings lots of 4 bullets and 5 bullets on one end of the spectrum and but a few 1 bullet and 2 bullets ratings on the other end; nothing in the middle so you either like these things or you don't; most people (me included) like them and I think they're a great deal and worth having on hand as emergency rations. Problem is I keep eating them and have to keep reordering to have a supply on hand if I ever really need them."
2.0 5
"Taste isn't too bad, very sweet - and no wonder, the first ingredient is sugar. Lots of calories but they are not quality calories. These bars get most of the calories from sugar and fat, and the fat is all partially hydrogenated oil. Not much protein, and little in the way of other nutrition. If you rely on these for long, the lack of real nutrition will soon tell. Better to spend the money on something better and more nutritious."

"Living in alone the Gulf coast , this is Hurricane Season. The taste is OK . But will help keep you going. With way things are in the world these are good to have."
5.0 5
"Living in a hurricane zone, I picked these up to try out so I could include them with my preps. Needless to say, after trying all of the flavors, I will be purchasing more. These bars have the consistency of a dense cookie. The flavors themselves aren't overly strong. The cherry is probably the strongest. They all look alike, the flavor is exactly that, just flavor. There isn't a lot of protein (8 grams per bar), they are mostly fat and carbs for energy. I wouldn't recommend eating only these for a long period of time, unless you have powdered milk or protein powder or something you could mix with water. These are good for emergencies, or if you need to get somewhere and want to carry something small and lightweight yet filling."
2.0 5
"Flour and sugar and "shortening", artificially flavored. Will keep you alive but if this is all you eat you will plug up your gut. They provide no nutrients besides calories. Taste is acceptable, but you aren't likely to eat them up before they are really needed. You will want to have plenty of water to wash them down."

"packaged well and they are as hard a a brick. Haven't tasted yet but my main gripe is that, great, they have a long shelf life but I checked my exp date and they expire next YEAR! The main reason I bought these was for the shelf life but whats the point?"
1.0 5
"I have had these before and was happy to find them available. I was very unhappy when I received my order however. I bought two packs of these to have for camping and for a hurricane kit. I only received 5 different flavors instead of the 8 or 9 shown in the picture. When I read assorted flavors, I just assumed that meant that I would receive the assortment that was pictured. There was no warning that assortment may vary. I am getting just about tired of misrepresentation in pictures nowadays. I would like to talk to customer support about this. The bars are good for what they are, but would not recommend this if you are going by having several flavors to choose from. I only got orange, apricot, lemon, cherry and blueberry."

"Great temporary food source and possible barter fodder. Great for a "snack" in the short term. Purchased several packages for future barter."

"Got these a while back thinking I might as well for the price. Got them for in game energy bars for in the field. They did the trick and kept me going. Though they are a bit hard. Once you actually cracked them open they were fairly tasty, seem to have god shelf life and I definitely recommend them"

"I live in tornado alley and brought these for emergencies. Like other reviewers stated, I brought these based on the reviews and thought I would get one of each bar pictured. When they came in, my wife and I tried a couple and wondered WTH everyone was thinking about the taste and we both agree, these bars are NASTY! Personally, Ive gotten better bars out of the MREs during Desert Storm and these are dryer than the pound cake in the old military style C/K rations (cans). The ingredients listed on every bar has exact the same description and as far as the flavors go, we could not discern the difference. We tried two different flavors and they tasted exactly the same to us. Ill keep whats left cause we agree, if we were trapped and had nothing else, we would eat them before resorting to cannibalism, but I assure you, I will not buy anymore."
