"Grip looks great on my 1911 and is comfortable. If you have an ambidextrous safety, motification in required for the right panel (save your old grips to use a template)."

"Beautiful Grip, shame that they decided to cheapen it up by barely gluing on the medallions, mine came off the first time I shot it and I lost one before realizing how flimsey they were, now my grips look tacky without one medallion.... if you buy make sure to pry off medallion and re-glue with super glue"

"I bought these and the first range trip resulted in the small screw that attaches the rubber to the right grip panel falling out somewhere. Now the rubber is trying to seperate from the wood. These grips look nice but they are very cheaply constructed. Buyer beware."

"I read the prior comments on these grips. I have purchased this brand (Pachmayr)before and was always pleased with them, so I decided to try them out. The metal medallions on mine are actually held on by a hex head screw from the back. There was no glue to come loose. And, the only screw that holds the rubber portion in place, is the actual grip screw on the lower part of the grip. So, some lock-tite may take care of all these problems if they do exist. The wood itself is very nice looking and well formed."

"I have the newer version of these grips (that has a small hex screw to hold the medallions on). The wood is very pretty, but will need to be notched (with an X-acto knife) to clear an ambidextrous safety if you 1911 has one. While I like these grips, mine have 2 flaws. First one of the medallions is crookedly mounted and digs into my palm (when fired from my weak hand). Second, the rubber section that wraps around the front-strap is \"baggy\" at the top and has too much space behind it. I plan to remedy this by filling the back of the finger-notched rubber with some black silicone RTV and mounting the grip (to the gun) over some saran-wrap. Once cured, I'll remove the saran wrap and the RTV should cure the \"loose\" rubber fit. They are better that earlier versions I'd heard about, but if Pachmayr payed more attention to detail, they have a first-rate grip."

"Pros: These grips come with heavy grained, beautiful wood panels with a smooth satin finish and will spruce up the appearance of your 1911 while adding finger grooves for comfort and control. The rubber is soft but not spongy. The medallions are smooth and recessed enough so you won't feel them.Fit is good (at least on my Series 70 Gold Cup) and the softer rubber around the front strap should lessen grip fatigue during long range sessions.Cons:Contrary to what another reviewer said, the medallions are NOT attached by a screw; the small hex screw on the opposite side of the medallion is used only for attaching the upper part of the rubber wrap around to the wood panels. The medallions cover the screw holes and are glued on, so if they haven't become detached, it can appear as if they are being held on by the this screw.Right after I finished attaching the grips to my 1911, the right medallion detached from the rubber. It looks like Pachmayr uses a super glue to hold them in place, so I think they would have eventually come loose anyway after some firing when the hard factory glue cracks from recoil shock. This is a design flaw; while the rubber part of the grip can flex, the metal medallions do not and can crack the hard glue, especially if not enough was used in the manufacturing process. My recommendation is to remove both medallions and use GE Silicone II glue (some recommend Gorilla Glue but I have never used it) to re-attach them -- hold them in place with tape for 24 hours -- the medallions will now be held firmly in place and will not detach even when flexed or shocked since the silicone glue is flexible when cured. Worked great for me.If you have already lost a medallion contact Pachmayr and they will send a replacement. Conclusion:I bought these grips to replace a pair of hard, 20+ year old Pachmayr Signature Series grips and love the way they look and feel. Also bought some Hex-Head Grip Screws (GNS093), they really make for a nice and neat looking...."

"These are great on my Rock Island Armory 1911. The wood looks great and these provide (in my opinion) a more firm grip than the \"Hogue Grip 1911 Full Size Soft Rubber Cobblestone\" I had before."

"These fit my Para SSP great and look beautiful. I had no issues with fit and so far stand up to firing. They really feel great in my hand as well."

"while shooting my 1911 with the pachmayr American legend grips i found that both the medallions had came off. so i called pachmayr they were more than happy to send me two more at no cost."

"Put these on my Rock Island 1911 and have been very pleased. Really stabilized the gun in my grip and is just a lot more comfortable to shoot. I haven't encountered any problems with the medallions yet but will probably pry mine off and re-attach with gorilla glue just to be sure. Really enhanced the looks of my gun (a secondary thought, but still nice to get out of the deal). I was really looking for a more stable grip for my .45 and got it with these grips. Would recommend them to any 1911 owner."

"I'm a big fan of Pachmayr made grips have this set on my springfield 1911, and 2 sets on a couple of revolvers. At first glance it looked like Pachmayr lowered their quality and it looked cheap but after i put them on it looks great and very comfortable. No other gun in the world will fit as well as a 1911 but I have to say these grips make it even nicer. P.S. buying laser grips is a waste of money and they are really impractical. Iron sights will never run out of batteries or break down."

"Yep - great looking grips. Comfortable to shoot too. Just know up front the madallions WILL come off!! Add two bucks to the cost of these for a tube of glue. Great other than that though."
3.0 5
"The wood panels are very attractive but the rubber insert is cheap crap; one of my medallions also fell off and had to be replaced. The Hogue finger-groove grip is much better made and is thicker and does not slide around on the front strap like the Pachmayr finger grooves."

"These are great grips. I had one problem. My 1911 has a ambi safety. I didn't realize it till I split my first set while installing them. If you have a ambi safety you will need to sand down the inside of the right grip about a 1/8 of a inch deep, in a half inch square. Then your grip will not split when you tighten down the screws. and your safety will still work normaly"

"These grips are excellent. they are much softer than the hogue girps I have on my AR and Desert Eagle. The only modification I had to make was because I have a Taurus with ambidextrious saftey and I had to make the indentation in the back for it. the medalions are have a hex screw to hold them on from the inside as this is one of the points where the rubber is held on and the other is your bottom screw in the grip, no glue involved."

"If you are looking for an inexpensive way to up grade your 1911 grips, This is it. However, you get what you pay for!!! The grips that I purchased were nice at first. After about the third day at the range the emblems fell off and the rubber separated from the rest of the grip. I was able to remove the rubber from the wood completely. I removed the old glue and used a better adhesive to repair it. Since then I have found better wrap around grips. Shoot Safely!!!"

"I was a bit skeptical at first to buy this product by looking at the other reviews. However I am very pleased with the product, it makes the 1911 look beautiful and the quality of the grip seems very high. As far as some of the other problems people have been having with this grip, the one I received must be a revised version. From what I can tell there is no glue holding either the rubber or the emblem onto the wood. But rather a screw is holding the emblem and rubber onto the wood. I have not range tested it yet, but my initial observation is that the piece is held together very sturdily. It looks like Pachmayr fixed the old problem of the emblems falling off by screwing it onto the wood instead of gluing it on. The rubber grip is held on tightly by the bottom screw as well as the screw that holds the emblem on. Overall I am impressed, very nice. I would recommend to anyone with a 1911."

"They did indeed fix the emblem problem by screwing the emblems to the wood from the inside of the wood panel. My issue is my ambidextrous safety. there is no notch for the right side release. I'll have to shave a bit of wood off. I would rather have the rubber feel more like hogue rubber grips instead of a slick rubber feel.overall, a good grip with a decent feel."

"I recieved my new 1911 Grips about 10 minutes ago. I am TRUELY OVERJOYED. I installed the grips in 3 minutes flat on my Springfield Armory 1911A1. It transformed my carry gun into a work of art (more so than it was). I wood is very high quality and the soft tacky rubber feel great. it does not allow the gun to slip at all when I pull it from my holster. This is truely the best and cheapest upgrade I have ever done to my 1911A1. On a side note, My wife has very small hands and didn't like the way the stock grips felt, but this grip well change all of that. Thank you CTD and Pachmayr for the transformation. I feel like I have a Brand New Weapon!"

"Just came back from the range where i did a test fire with my new grips and couldnt be more pleased. Very comfortable and makes the sights line up for me much better. The medallions have not fallen off yet so i give mine a 10/10 rating. Looks great and feels great! Definately worth the money in my opinion..."

"Just got these grips yesterday. Look great, feel great, needs some minor trimming, but nothing I cant handle on my own. Bought this for my Taurus 1911, and they really dressed it up. They got here quick also. Ordered a set of cocobolo grips from another site and they took forever to get here. These got here in a day and a half. Thanks CTD"

"These grips feel great and look great. They have upgraded the emblem with screws to prevent falling off and the rubber part is very soft which gives a smooth feel. Shipping took as long as stated and all is good. So far this company is at the top of my list thanks."

"I had to do a little modification work on the grips and which I knew I was going to have to! I actually picked my grips up for my Taurus 1911. Small and minor adjustments and put them on without any trouble! The grips feel great and they give you more control and handeling while firing. I would suggest definately picck these up if you wouldd love to dress up your handgun!"

"installed easily and improves grip, however the quality seems a bit low. the \"wood\" seems like laminated plastic; the rubber is somewhat flimsy and mine had large mold lines that needed trimmed. even still, I do feel the product improves grip and the overall look of my Rock Island GI."
4.0 5
"These are great grips. The best of both worlds, nice wood grain look with a little tactical look, feel, and control built in. They look great too. I'd buy another set, but I would have to buy another gun to put them on. BTW, they fit a Kimber perfectly............"

"While some minor fitting was needed for the safety, this grip outperforms all others I've ordered in both feel, safety and performance. I own and shoot over 8 different 1911s. These grips were purchased expressly for a new Taurus PT1911 chambered in .38 Super. The look of the sidearm is only surpassed by it's recoil energy absorption and follow-up shot control. These grips put to shame any front strap checkering. The walnut is hard as a rock so minor filing for a custom fit shows NO MARKS left behind. I have paid 3 times as much for exotic wood grips, but these are functional perfection. And after shopping around, ChaperThanDirt.com has everyone else's price put to shame."

"I bought one of these for my Taurus PT1911AR, and like the other reviewers I had to dremel on side for it to fit the ambi-safeties. Was not that big of an ordeal. I had a similar pair on my Rock Island 1911, the only difference is they were all rubber, and no wood. Pachmayr knows how to make comfortable grips, period. These are well worth money, and a person would not be disappointed. CTD, is great at their jobs, and they ship consistently fast."

"Great grips. I love the look of my 1911 even more. The only downside is kind of rubber that they put in it, other than that great looking grips."

"I purchased these grips and added them to my Para Ordinance 1911 GI Expert ESP and they look and feel great!"

"Looks and feels great. If you have a newer Gov. Model with ambidextrous safety safety, you will need to router small grove in right grip to accomodate the lever guide. Look at the original grip to see. No big deal to do it."

"This is a very nice grip on my SA1911A1. I have the extended slidestop so a little dremmel work was needed, about 1/16\". I will be putting one of these on my AR next. Even with the modification needed, I rated it a 5 since it wasn't designed for this application."

"I purchased these grips to replace a set of orignal plastic grips on a 1911 Colt Commander my Father left me boy do they look great and totally give the gun a much better feel in your hand. Thanks CTD great job!!!!"

"I bought these grips from CTD almost three years ago for a S&W 1911. Just now decided to rate them. About a month after purchase one of the emblems fell off, so I super glued it back on. No problems since, they look good still after over 2000 rounds and countless hours of holster time."

"I just bought these grips for my Springfield 1911-A1 .45acp. Installation was a snap(5 min with a screwdriver). The wood really compliments the stainless steel and the rubber wrap-around finger grooves gives a comfortable and positive grip to the weapon. The emblems are a nice touch too. My weapon looks a lot sharper and a more custom look as well. i haven't fired it yet (just got done installing prior to writing this) but I don't think I will be disappointed. For the low price, these grips do a great job. If you want your 1911 to stand out, I recommend these grips. thanks ctd! p.s. i agree with one of the other reviews, laser grips are not that practical, too expensive, and batteries can die. if you are a good shooter, then you dont need a laser"

"I couldn't be much happier with this grip. I have several 1911's from Wilson Tactical, Kimber, Spingfield, S&W, Taurus, and looks good on all of them. It worked great at the shooting range, and looked great on my chrome S&w 1911. I do alot of tactical shooting and have specific grips for tactical guns. So I just put it on my matte black 1911s' to see how it looked, it looked good, but on chrome 1911s' it adds to an already classy gun with a tactical look that can't be beat."

"Bought this grip for my RIA 1911 FS, makes the gun feel so much better in your hand and with total control. Install was a breeze as well. Great product."

"Item fit my SA Champion SS very well. As stated by previous reviewers, there was some dremeling needed for the ambidextrous safety, but after that, it was a great fit."
4.0 5
"I got these grips for a commander size 1911. They are good but I just needed to shave them down a little bit... no big deal. The only crappy thing is they don't make them for amby safeties but you just gotta shave the other side down too. All in all they feel good, they look good, and with slight modifications they will fit on most 1911s."
3.0 5
"I bought this grip to spice up my Taurus PT 1911. The fit was great (with some dremeling for ambi saftey) and the wood really looks nice. The only reason I gave this product 3 bullets instead of 5 was because of the rubber finger part felt to soft and generally uncomforable. I will not use the grip for shooting because I prefer the checkering stuff."
5.0 5
"They fit great and look even better. I was a little worried the finger grooves was going to be a little weak but I've put over a thousand rounds through my gun since installing these grips and they are holding up just fine. Pachmayr = quality"
3.0 5
"I have dual Taurus PT1911's. at first I ordered one of these and put it on one of them. They are awesome so I ordered the second one for my other one. The reason I only put 3 is because I had to loosen one of the hex nuts so that the Ambi saftey would still work. It wont move if the one nut is tightened all the way. I am sure I could tackel this problem by shaving the wood down a little bit but they work fine even with the one nut not so tight."
4.0 5
"Good product, looks great on my blued, Colt 1911 Government model. Wood is nice quality. Only complaint is that the rubber could be of better quality. That's the only reason I didn't rate it higher."
4.0 5
"I recently purchased my first 1911. I decided to go with the Taurus PT1911, with a blue frame, mostly due to cost, reviews, and standard features that I would have others been required to add myself. These grips not only look great on this weapon, but have an excellent feel due to the rubberized finger grooves. As was stated by another purchaser, I had to make a slight modification to the right side grip to accommodate the ambidextrous thumb safety. This was achieved with a dremel and careful cutting. I would recommend these grips to anyone looking to improve not only the appearance but also the overall feel and comfort of their 1911."
4.0 5
"First off, these grips (to me) are the best mix of comfort AND style that you can get. The rosewood is beautiful, and the rubber allows for the added comfort and control that conventional wooden grips do not have. I like them because they are thinner than the standard hogue wrap-arounds (and I love hogue, it's on all of my other weapons), but sill have a tacky feel. One complaint: the medallion is also one of the anchors for the rubber portion of the grip, and it tends to loosen during firing. I suggest using a small dab of locktite to hold the tiny hex screw in place, then no worries. If not for that, I would have given 5 bullets."

"I just got these grips today and I got to say, they are AWESOME! I put them on my Taurus PT-1911 and like others have said before, a little dremeling is involved. But after maybe 1 minute of dremeling they fit good. I also left one screw slightly loose near the safety on the right side of the gun so the safety functions well. I just tightened the screw then backed off about a half turn. I doubt there will be any problems with it coming loose."

"I got this for my Government American legend II 1911 and wasn't so impressed. Matter of fact I'm currently trashing it and putting the stock grips back on. The rubber had over mold in some parts, which wasn't a hard fix with a pair of snips, the wood needed to be cut down a lot to fit the oversized slide release, and the screw holes didn't allow for the screws to fit in the grip properly and stuck out causing them to scrape your fingers. (from this on is me complaining, but it's my fault.) During all the alterations I managed to scuff up the wood, and damage the slot on my grip screw just a tad from getting frustrated and the screw driver slipping, The emblems need to be tightened with a metric Allen wrench (them using metric most likely means it's not American made which is why this is a cluster job.) I'm really not satisfied one bit with this and will stay clear from this brand from now on. Other people seem to be satisfied with this product, and it may fit other brand 1911 then the one I have, but when it comes to my guns, I expect things to be and perform a certain way."

"Bought these and loved them.., until the pachmyar ensignia in the center came apart and I lost the back screw peice in the woods! I would expect a company like pachmyar to make a better product for the price."
