"Great addition to my model 56, as always no gunsmithing means with the right tool and some common sense you can make it fit. It took only about 15 minutes with a hand file to adapt it. I simply had to round offthe bottom edge so it would slide past the operating rod. Then look at your original gas tube .See the angle of the original, you will need to file that angle to the top of your new gas tube. File a little at a time till youcan close the lever that holds the gas tube in place. Now for only a fewbucks and a little labor your sks has some cool effect that actually is functional. I'd suggest this product to anyone who needs an additonal rail."

"As stated above hand filing is required.. even when I got it to slide into place it wouldn't go down all the way. when I looked at the ribbed part of the tube, its too large. It hits the barrel and doesn't allow it to set into place."

"My gas tube arrived yesterday, and it's made by NcStar. The New Century name kinda confuses me.Looks pretty quality made, and it took just a little filing on the wide end of the tube to get her mounted up to my '90's era Norinco. Everything came together and lined up when the filing was done.Had a scope forward mount for this rifle years back, and the scope tube is certainly the place for a mount with this commie critter. The old unit clamped onto the factory gas tube who's constriction caused the rifle to jam every other time. This NcStar is a much better idea. Reliability was flawless. Picatinny rail worked just fine with my nasty old spare mounts. Everything cinched up just fine.I would have rated this gas tube 5 bullets if she woulda fit straight outta the box."

"this is the worst outta the box part you can get. after significant filing it finally fit only to rattle off the rail after thirty rounds, the only saving grace was the price. if youve got a bit of time and some jb weld (cause you cant weld the aluminium rail to the steel tube) it might be okay though your probably better off going with the handguard from tapco"

"I BOUGHT THIS GAS TUBE HOPEING THAT IT WOULD SOLVE ALL OF MY PROBLEMS. I WAS WRONG! THE GAS TUBE FALLS IN THE GUN WAY TO LOOSE. I WOULDN'T GIVE 50 CENTS FOR THIS GAS TUBE SCRAP METAL."

"Well, I must admit, this is pretty much the worst accessory I have ever bought from Cheaper Than Dirt. Love you guys, but you really need to re-evaluate offering this product. After careful filing of the end nearest the receiver (as instructed) it did fit past the gas piston, only to rattle incessantly loose, once in place. Not the best platform for a Scout Scope. The design is flawed, as a quick inspection of my original gas tube revealed. I'd try to RMA it, but it isn't even worth the trouble..."

"As with most sks parts, this is slightly longer to accomodate tolerances of different factories over the years. You may have to file a little to fit it but its pretty simple. The metal isn't blued so the finish does want to wear off on the tube. Thats the only kink"

"Fit in very loose would not even fire. Not worth buying"

"I bought this for my yugo and it won't work. It fits too loose and there's no lip on the end for the gas switch. Should of bought the tapco yugo one in the first place."

"A quality Chinese part for your sks. All metal construction. *Please note* This is not a drop in part and will require hand fillting. I believe most of the negative reviews for this component are due to some, who should not have even tried to fit this part to there SKS.Like any skill, Gunsmithing is an acquired skill that takes time to learn and cultivate.I am not trying to be some high handed jerk, just being honest. If you have no Gunsmithing experience , please bring it to a local qualified smith, he will have no difficulty fitting the component and his fee will be under 50 bucks. If you decide to do it yourself, just follow the old maximum of ,measure twice ,cut once, or in this case, grind once. Take off a tiny amount at a time, you will be surprised of how a little metal removed make a huge difference, just remember you cant put any metal back on without going through a hell of a lot of time and effort.I noticed on my SKS a Russian 45 1951 SERIES that the gas tube was just a tiny bit to loose for my liking were it connects to the circular gas tube mount. A spray with the matching color of Dura kote ( one layer ) was enough to make the fit to my liking. That's the type of dimensions we are talking. So just remember go slow and take a tiny bit off at a time and remember once it sets in the gas block lock it moves reward a little, so if you make it fit perfect before the gas block lock is tightened , you might find that it will be fasr to loose. Remove tiny amounts and keep refitting and lock it down every time to see its true fit."

"When received my NcStar SKS gas tube scope mount.I filed it and got it to fit perfectly on my Romanian sks.But when I shot it my sks jammed. It jams every 3 to 4 shotsevery time. So, I took the SKS gas tube scope mount back off andI inspected it and found that the inside the gas tube to be toobig. The gas piston has a small gap around the piston head andon the other end of the gas tube the inside was way bigger than it should be. The piston rattles inside the gas tube, but when I have my stock gas tube on it doesn't rattle at all. If I could return the NcStar SKS gas tube scope mount I would.p.s. I have a brand new tapco sks gas piston and my Romanian Sks never jams when I use my stock gas tube."

"Its almost there! The problem is you have to file a little, by little, by little, off the butt end of it to get it to fit (Russian Model). Once I got the lock closed,I thought I was good to go but then I went and dropped a 20 mag through it fast enough to get the barrel too hot to touch. That caused too much play with this tube to hold my red dot stable for long range fire. It was good enough for 50 - 100 feet though! I'd say the hot play was around .5 cm side to side. This could be my fault in filing too much of the square off the butt. I just tried to match the tube coming off.Anyway, be prepared with a good file! CTD sellls them for 10 bucks and they're worth it. Also, be patient with this file! I went back and forth, fitting and filing, a dozen times and still missing the proper tolerance. Anyway, the price is right and I would'nt spend the extra money for the Tapco tube. This one is certainly good enough to mount a cheap red dot on a 50 year old Soviet milled rifle."

"I had to file it a little to fit my Norinco. It took maybe 10-15 minutes, but thats to be expected. The real issue, and why I only give it 4 bullets, is that it wobbles back and forth like crazy. To fix this I cut a small rectancle piece out of the side of an aluminum can about 1-3/8\" x 3/8\". I bent it into a U shape around the bottom of the gas tube on the back and this fixes it almost completely. There is still just a hair of movement, but a slightly thicker piece from the bottom of the can should fix that. It looks great with the TruGlo 2x red dot mounted on itI bought this because I could not remove the wood from my gas tube to make it match my stock."

"After a little dremeling this fit well. It was just a hair to long for my Chinese SKS. It looks good though."

"It dropped right in on my Yugo. Have put 500+ rounds through with no trouble. I would agree with other reviewers that if it does not fit right away to have a professional fit it for you."

"I purchased this gas tube and after an hour of VERY careful fitting, it was on my Norinco and it was on TIGHT! As I have no use for rails, I removed it and just use the tube. 300 rounds later it was still as tight as it was when I installed it.If your pretty good with tools and patient, this is a superb gas tube. I'm well pleased!"
