"Bought this to test out as something for the SHTF closet. It's surprisingly good. Mostly beans, not much \"meat\". I'm not sure if it has real meat or TVP. Either way, this is a decent value-$20 for 12 pounds of chili. The cooking directions are to boil the entire package for 30 minutes. You need a really big pan for that. I just opened the tray up and microwaved some. That worked fine. The chili is very thick and needs some water added when cooking that way.Not too hot going down, and has a mild afterburn. Spicy enough to be tasty, but I don't think it's too hot to bother anyone. I improved the basic chili by by adding salsa, chopped onion, chopped green pepper, garlic, fried bison, and some pepper jack cheese on top. Also makes a good chili dog.I couldn't find a date on either the tray or the cardboard sleeve, so if you're storing this, you'll need to mark them. All in all, a very good buy, and I will be getting more. And trying the other varieties."
