"I ordered a case of MRE complete meals. I took a package of beef stew to work. The meal came with (2) cinnamon breakfast squares with the grape jelly and coffee I ate those on my a.m break. At lunch I went to the lunch room and as usual the line for the microwave was 5 people deep. no problem heated the beef stew in enclosed heater and about 10 min later was hot and smelled great (while waiting i ate the 2 packs of crakeres and mixed the lemonade pack to a 20 oz btle of water). the beef stew smelled so good that people came over to my table and asked what it was and why I did not use the microwave. the only things left were hot sauce packet, salt/pepper (gave away) and pack of matches (sold for .50 to smoker)and orange energy bar P.M break. a case of MRE (12) comes to about $5.75 each and I got breakfast and lunch 2 meals for $2.87 each. The beef stew tastes just like Dindi More can stew it was GREAT !!!"

"The 12 assorted meals turned out to be 6 of the same entree4 of a different entree and 2 others that were different so in all I got 12 meals but only 4 different entrees. Not as much assortment as Assorted entres would have you believe and since there non returnable..........I hope you like the entrees you get an abundance of!!!"

"Bought a case of these to include with my pilot husband's luggage when he has to fly to a third world country. Definitely not fine dining, but way better than we expected them to be. Filling, nutritious, pretty tasty, a hot meal and, most important to us, a SAFE FOOD SOURCE. I will start including a few of these each time he has to travel outside of the USA. You never know when he'll be arriving overseas in the middle of the night when hotel kitchens are closed, or when he'll be sent to some crappy third world country that doesn't have safe sources of food or water. Heck... next time I fly overseas, I think I'll chuck a few of these in my luggage as well."

"The clear packaging on these sets them apart from any other MRE I have purchased but other than that they are the real deal. You will be very pleased with the quality of these. Very near genuine article."

"The food was very good, but after looking at the other reviews, I have to agree with the general opinion about the heaters. The heaters are definitely inferior so if anyone plans on purchasing them, (I have purchased several boxes at different times) be sure to bring your own heat source. The food is good but the heaters are not. While I was in the military, we never had heaters as an MRE option, so I wasn't too terribly disappointed when they didn't work. I still think they are worth the value."

"These MRE's are pretty good to go for the price and stuff. The cinnamon squares, fruit side, and entree all taste alright. They're not great, mind you, but my bro sent me a case and they got me and my roomate through a few days up at college. If you're complaining about the taste, remember these are camping/emergency type meals and get over it. Unless you want to lug around a grill and fuel in your napsack, this is about as good as it gets in the civi market for storing in your ruck."

"The MRE are not bad tasting very similar to military MRE's. The main problem is the Chemical heaters. They heated the food fine, but the chemical got all over the MRE pouch and made a mess."

"I ordered 4 cases of the MREs, and opened one to test it. I had no problem at all with the heaters, and the spaghetti in the package differed very little from store bought in a can spaghetti. It was a hot meal after being warmed by the heater, and during the warming I ate the pop tart, crackers, peanut butter, and cookie. Overall, phenomenal job by Apack."

"I just finished my first MRE with help from my girlfriend. We were both very pleased with the taste of the food. From what I can tell my meals expire in 2014. The packaging is brand new and the meals are well packed. The MRE heater that came with my meals is Brand New. I used it on the entree and did it's job very well, with no mess. I think all current MRE's are being shipped with fresh heaters, not the old surplus ones from the 2008 reviews. I'm glad I tried these, they are well worth the price."

"All the meals were great and real filling. A hurricane knocked out the power here in Florida last year, but we feasted on our MRE's for the two days while the power was out. Good grub!"

"I've had several types of MRE's before, including the old HPM's (Humanitarian Pouched Meals), I must say I like these the best so far. They are not military MREs... No accessory pack is included...but they taste great, and the heaters included work very well."

"I just received a case of twelve; quickly, as usual.I wanted to mention a couple of things not mentioned by other reviewers. Most importantly the heaters for this MRE contain a small container of SALT water to activate the heater. Every other heater I have seen requires plain water to activate. I mention this because I'm not sure what happens if the case of MREs freeze. I would guess that the water tubes would not burst, but don't know.On the other hand, it is easier to use this heater: dump the salt water into the heater pouch without having to measure \"between the lines.\"Separately, the products were made by AmeriQual - a supplier of MREs to the military.Lastly, the entrees seem a bit more tasty - but perhaps I was a bit more hungry.Cheers.S."

"I don't know whats with all the naysayers. For a pre-packaged, food you can live off, doesn't need refrigeration, that's edible for 10 years. WHAT did you expect ruths chris? ? The meals are ok, some are good, some are okk. The only con, i see is no salt or Tabasco pack, and yes they need to chocolate powder. Only lemon and raspberry WTF?"

"I know many people have eaten military MRE's, as a 2 time Iraq veteran with the infantry, I had to survive on military MRE's for weeks at a time and swore never to eat another one in my lifetime. However, when my package arrived today I had to at least try one. My box had all 6 types of entree, I got 3 of some and sometimes only 1 of a certain type, but I got all 6! I chose the Hearty Beef Stew. It came with an Oatmeal cookie, crackers, peanut butter, a poptart and beverage mix. As for as I can tell, they all looked at tasted the same as a military MRE, a few packaging differences was the only difference. I really liked the heater, as each entree comes with the salt water to activate it, you don't have to use up your own water - just rip open the package they gave you and dump it in, the heater worked better than alot of the ones in military MRE's. The entree, while very filling and edible, was a little bland - as to be expected since the only condiment that came with it was pepper. I would recommend grabbing a bunch of salt packets from a fast food place, and a bottle of Tabasco sauce and throwing them in the box with the meals - this would greatly increase the flavor. That being said, these are as close to a military MRE in both flavor and nutritional value [think these clock in about ~80 calories less than mil.mre] as you can come without spending horrible amounts at surplus stores for \"authentic\" MRE's which basically just replaces the see-through packaging with the brown military packaging. Great buy, a must have in anyone's basements or vehicles for emergencies. Also the spoons in these are white and a little wider than the military's brown spoons :)"

"I got two of each type of meal and they are all full of calories and fat. These are just what you need for emergency or camping."

"I've had military MREs and these have most of them beat. The meal flavor and texture is great; not that flavorless gritty stuff that a lot of them tend to be. The included crackers are the only complaint; the texture is a bit peculiar, but the included cheese or peanut butter spreads make it better.I've already bought a few cases of these, and will buy more. They're great for an easy meal while camping. I keep a couple at work in case I don't have time to run out for lunch."

"The product is fine except for being significantly older than expected. According to the date code on the cases I ordered, they were already over a year and a half old when I got them. From the information on the manufacturer's website, that's a third less shelf life assuming the best storage conditions."

"Well I must say. Tastes better than what my dad use to bring me back in the day. I'm happy with them. I can go a whole day without feeling hungry with just one MRE."

"On the 12th day of Christmas 2010 I bought 12 MREs. Production code is 0088. So that means they were made Jan 8 2008. Now I know why there were so cheap. They're 3 years old, with a shelf life of 5 years. Awesome. I want my money back."

"12 pounds of emergency meals. Having been a former Iraq Vet I know what MREs look and taste like. I have yet to eat one as I bought them for bad situations but they shipped instantly and I got 5 or 6 different meals with a few duplicated. I was expecting a brown bag as the military ones are shipped the same but they are a clear bag so you can see through them and see what is in them. Great job on the shipping. I will be buying more."

"The packing date codes on the entrees are from Feb 2010. Other than that, they are fine. Two each of six meals, ten of which have meat in them. A good assortment of sides."
4.0 5
"The oldest date code on my order of 12/21/10 was 0082 which is March 2010 (don't pay any attention to the other poster who thinks they are from 2008 - do your own research). Depending on how they are stored, they should be good for 2 years at least."
5.0 5
"Enz-According to The Ready Store and the description two inches above your review, code 0088 means the 88th day of 2010. If it was made in January 8th, 2008, the code would read 8008."
5.0 5
"I ordered two cases during the 12 Days Of Christmas sale. Quick delivery. The date codes show 0084, very fresh in MRE terms. I haven't tasted them yet, but I know what to expect, good basic meals, and I have Tabasco on hand! Great job CTD! You will be my store of choice again in 2011!"
5.0 5
"So I got these during the Christmas sale like some of you. Of note is that they are manufactured this year, which is fine. standard practice is to only sell MRE's the year they are made so they retain the longest shelf life from what I've read. Big deal if you lost 10 months when you paid half price. If you paid full prior to the sale, sorry. One thing CtD did wrong is misreport the calories in each meal. They actually are HIGHER than what CtD lists in the description! All I can say is I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks CtD."

"I was pleasantly surprised to see the manufacture date is rather recent. Now I just gotta remember to keep a little bottle of franks red hot on hand."

"Just got 24 of them in and had to try one. Spaghetti with italian style meat sauce was not bad at all the crackers with peanut butter and oatmeal cookie were just that. Vanillia shake was good and m&ms were just that, did not try the drink mix. The heater that was included worked great. Overall a great emergency hot meal."

"Good price, I'v seen these on other sites for $80.00+. I am very happy with the quality and at about 1400 cal each you can easily survive on 1 a day.The date code on mine were 0088 which means the 88th day of 2010 not Jan 08 as stated in a previous review. Great product i will be ordering more!"

"My box contained 2 of all of their current standard selection:Spaghetti w/Italian Style Meat Sauce, Homestyle Chicken w/Noodles and Vegetables in Sauce, Creamy Chicken Tetrazzini, Hearty Beef Stew, Southwestern Sytle Chicken w/Black Beans & Rice, Pasta w/Garden Vegetables in Tomato Sauce. Each is packaged in clear plastic with a name/nutritional card easy to read. There is a range of 1440-1460 total calories per meal. I decided to eat one of the Creamy Chicken Tetrazzini since it was one I was unsure about and didn't want to find out in the woods that I hated it. The package contained: 1 Cardboard Sleeve (used while heating), 1 Sleeve with Heater insert, 1 Pack of saltwater for heater, 1 Mealpack, 1 Pack of Vanilla Dairyshake Powder (requires 6 oz water), 1 Pack of \"Drinkmix (Just mix with bottled water)\" , 1 Oatmeal Cookie, 1 1.69 oz Pack of M&M's (some contain peanut m&m's), 1 pack of 2 Large sized flour based crackers, 1 1.5 oz pack of Peanut Butter, 1 Plastic Spoon, 1 pack of Pepper, 1 Moist Towelette. Notes: I like the mechanism where the heater material is spread out to guarantee coverage. I like that the perfect sized salt water pack is provided for the heater. I love that the heater gets boiling hot. (Awesome!)(Also, hey, this gets really hot, you can hear it boil, so find a good place to place it. The cardboard card that comes with it is good a base.) The heater pack is designed to go back in a box when heating. Since this is not delivered in box, I was worried. I used the cracker to lay on the bag to partially hold down the flap and when it got warm I swapped it for the cookie and spread the PB on the cracker :) There ended up to be lots of heat to spare, the heater was still hot to the touch a full 20 minutes after I was done eating and is still warm as of this writing. Review: Peanut Butter and cracker - good - very filling (I could have stopped here if I wasn't really hungry, the crackers are huge and there is just enough PB). Shake the shake more..."

"Bought two cases and ate one (took a while). I am not a connoisseur of MRE's and haven't eaten a lot of them to compare to, but I found these very good. Yes, I could make better food, myself, but these were very flavorful and had enough variety (6 different meals) to make me want to get more. The meals are complete; the heaters worked well; there was plenty of food (calories) and I actually enjoyed most of them. I highly recommend for camping, hiking (maybe a bit heavy) or your bug-out-bag. Great for long term storage, too. Will order more."

"I bought this MRE 12 pk last week after seeing the reviews it was getting, NS they came in a few days ago. Tried one out for dinner just now and it was much better than expected. These are meant for emergency situations, and in an uncertain situation the food will be palatable. Recommended."

"I ordered a case of these to compare with other food storage solutions. When it came in on Friday (only two days from order to delivery!) I decided to have an \"MRE Party\" with my family. My wife and four children each tried one of the entrees, which we shared with each other, and we each tried one of the side items in each packet. Our picky eater (14y/o boy) abstained and \"just watched the craziness\". The only one that was totally nasty was the spaghetti with meat sauce. My middle boy (19) ate it like a trooper without complaint, but later said he had an upset stomach. But I could eat it if I had to. My oldest said the vanilla shake mix was like unfrozen soft-serve ice cream mix from Mickey D's. It was difficult to mix in the bag, but it didn't taste bad at all. My wife liked the oatmeal cookie a lot. I ate the crackers, which were like an extra thick saltine. It was tasty as far as flavor and texture, but it absorbed every bit of moisture in my mouth to the point I couldn't chew. It was hilarious. My oldest tried it with the peanut butter, and as long as you have plenty to drink, its not bad either. The lemonade drink mix was pretty average. The pack also included a package of M&Ms, either plain or peanut. Most of the MRE packs contain about 1450 calories, so they're not for someone looking to stay on their diet. You could probably make two meals out of everything in it. For instance, have the crackers with PB, vanilla shake and cookie for breakfast, and the entry, lemonade, and cookie for lunch/dinner. The heaters were easy to use, and it was quite amazing how hot it got. We could hear the water actually boiling in the pouch. Using the cardboard sleeve is a must and it's best to put the heater packet in the sleeve before adding the water. Be careful. I ripped my sleeve and had to hold it in my hand until it was ready to eat. Overall, four bullets. Like my oldest said - it's better than eating bugs. They're absolutely essential in case of a hurricane, blizzard."

"Quick ship!!! Ordered two cases and got the same cases, so not a lot of variety. But in an emergency it will still be food."
4.0 5
"My order came in fast and was in good shape. The only bad things I have to say about these are, NO TABASCO, NO SALT, AND NO POUND CAKE. As with the comment that Squire said about the water freezing, it is salt water and will take a lot to freeze. I put one in my deep freezer (-15F) overnight and it was still liquid the next day."

"I just bought a box (12 meals). I had bought several cases from another civilian site. They flat SUCKED! The real MRE's were available form the Commisary for awhile but they wanted $72.00 bones for them. These had many of the same entries but heck, they were good! These are pretty darn close to the real deal, sans the small accessory packet (with hot sauce!). They ARE NOT FAKE! I bought these as safety/backup food. I'm not dissatisfied! AWC, USN."
5.0 5
"I bought 4 boxes of these, both as emergency stores of food here in earthquake prone California, and also as camping food for my frequent road trips. Curiosity got the better of me, and I popped open a box and had to sample one each of the six different kinds of entrees you get. Each case contains meals with the following entrees: Chicken Tetrazini (Great)Vegetables and pasta in tomato sauce (Good) Southwestern chicken with black beans & rice (Excellent) Hearty Beef Stew (Excellent) Spaghetti with Italian style sauce (Good) Chicken and noodles with vegetables (sort of a thick chicken noodle soup) (Great) First off, all the entrees and sides are very edible. Some are better than other - the beef stew and southwestern chicken are really standouts here. The rest, while good, are just food. The sides are pretty tasty, but the crackers are average, not bad, just kind of bland. The batches I got were one year old (made in Feb, 2010). They arrived in excellent condition, and each meal is packed in a plastic pouch, with each component further packed in its own plastic pouch. The heaters worked great, and I had a hot meal anywhere I wanted it in a little over 10 minutes. Seriously folks, you're not buying these for 5 star upscale dining. You're buying these so you can have food in an emergency, or so you can enjoy an easily prepared hot meal while you're out in the middle of nowhere. I really don't get some of the people who complain about them not being up to their standards. Considering these are emergency rations for a disaster, I can't see what anyone would complain about. I actually like them a lot, and would choose one of these over most frozen dinners any day. All in all excellent products, quality food, very filling, a hot meal, and something that I really think everyone should consider having on hand for any emergency or civil unrest that might come about."

"Ive tried a few MRE meals through my days. This box tops the list. The main meals were the focus for my experiments. They have passed with ease, NOTE: throw salt packs and T.P. into your box. All in all these are great. Ill get more for sure. Thanks CTD. Also thank you A-Pack"

"5 bullets for the best, nope they arent the best.Basic semi strip mre. no hotsauce, toilet paper, matches, or side item. main Entree food quality is good. 5 year shelf life if stored at 50 degrees. stored at 70 degrees you get 40 months(says on the box). my date code was 0088. not a longterm solution at all.didnt give 4 bullets because it wasnt a great value."
3.0 5
"The taste and quality of the food was fine so I won't waste any time talking about that. I did have problems with items missing from two of the meal packs I tried. One of them had a pepper packet that contained no pepper. The packet was sealed and untorn but had no pepper inside of it whatsoever. Weird! Not really a huge deal, especially since the amount of pepper you get really isn't enough to add much flavor anyway. A different meal pouch was missing the packet of salt water to heat the meal, which was more aggravating. Fortunately this happened while I was trying the meal out in my kitchen and not in an emergency situation, so I simply used water from the tap to activate the heater. In all I'd probably still recommend but with the caveat that if you are using these as a food source for an emergency or as a portable meal for an outdoors trip you should take a good look at the meal pouch and try and verify the water is in there. And pack extra pepper."

"I figured these would be worth trying so I bought a case. The case I ordered came with 6 meals, two of each. I packed a few in my bug out bag and the others Ive used \"in the field\" while helping clean up after all the tornadoes tore up north Alabama. They have come in very handy and Im happy enought with them that Ill be ordering more. These are not exactly like the MREs you'll find in military surplus stores but they are very close and taste great."

"I ordered these for my bug out bag and have since eaten all but 1 of them just for a hot meal at work.In my opinion theyre better than frozen TV dinners and for about the same cost compared to how much food you get in them."

"Got them fast, and in great condition. I crack open the case and randomly selected the Spag with meat sauce. I contained a lot of food. The heater worked fine but took a while to get it really hot. The Spaghetti tasted good, and the noodles were not total mush. The cookie (warmed on the heater thanks to a suggestion read here) was also excellent and big, the M&M's were fresh, the peanut-butter was creamy, the lemonade was weak, and the shake so-so. In the end well worth the sale price."

"I ordered two cases that arrived today. Fast shipping! Had beef stew meal for lunch, very yummy. Dates show mine were made March 30th 2010 (15 months ago), so if I move to North Pole, they are good for 3 years 9 months more due to storage temp. Think Ill stay here so these will have maybe 3 year shelf life which is fine with me for camping/hiking/emergency purposes. Ill just eat them and buy more. Tons of food in each pack, hard to eat all of it. Pack had giant oatmeal cookie, M&Ms, vanilla shake mix, lemonaid mix, crackers, lots of peanut butter, beef stew, heater, salt water, wet nap, pepper, spoon."

"I was impressed with the quality of the food. The heater is amazing, and could burn your hand if not careful. I could not eat the entire ration in one sitting. So I ate the entree, and the side goodies are a good mix for snacks later on the trail. I've ordered 2 boxes so far and will add to the stockpile."
5.0 5
"This is just your standard MRE, the taste is a little better than average and the shelf life is average. For the price I should have bought a few more cases to supplement my years supply of freeze dried food. (The price is currently cheaper than I paid) The price on these is only going to go up with the costs of food going up each and every year so stock up while you can!"
5.0 5
"The meals were actually very good tasting! I wasn't expecting such a decent flavor. The main entree was the best part. The heater works very well and the supplied water was a nice idea. The cookie was a little hard, but it tasted good. The crackers were very plain and hard, but the peanut butter helped make em better. The lemon drink mix was awesome! Even the vanilla drink mix was good... All in all, tastes great!"

"These MREs were manufactured (assembled) by A-Pack, and they are some of the better meals out there. As with any assortment, some meals are tastier than others, but all qualify as \"Emergency Food.\" Ive had no problems with missing items, and the heaters all work flawlessly. Several recalls are out and list both the peanut butter and the milkshake mix, but none of my MREs had any of the lot numbers or date ranges mentioned. Expect about a year and a half useable shelf life here in AZ even stored in a CC interior closet. Check your date codes as they vary with each shipment. Will be ordering more soon."

"I bought a 12 pack about a year ago and keep them for BOB and the like. I stored two in my get home bag in my truck all summer and thought I should eat them since they don't store well in high heat. I was very surprised by the great taste and the amount of food. I'm a big guy that can eat and I couldn't finish the meal in one sitting. You would survive nicely with one a day if need be. I am buying another 24 just in case."

"I ordered on Tuesday afternoon and received my order on Thursday afternoon in Denver. Productions dates don't seem bad. All meals are March of 2010. Got 2 each of 6 different meals, so there is some variety. It's a lot of food since each meal is about 1 pound with packaging. I'll try one tonight and see."

"These look identical to the MIL MREs I have had and eaten. They are great for post disaster use when you are physically working hard (all varieties in my carton were over 1400 calories per pack). I only rated this product as three star because the production date codes were all in March of 2010 making them 20 months old already, under unknown storage conditions. Assuming that they have been stored at about 70F so far (and that is how I expect to store them), half of their shelf life is already gone. While each box's contents will vary, mine contained two each of Chicken Tetrazzini, Beef Stew, Chicken w/noodles, Spaghetti w/meat sauce, Pasta w/vegetables, SW Chicken w/black beans and rice, plus the complete set of accessory items. Too bad none of my personal favorite (Meat Loaf w/gravy and potatoes) but this is just the luck of the draw."

"I have ordered these a couple of times before and now have 3 boxes on hand. I ordered this on Thanksgiving and it was at my doorstep the following Monday! You can't get better than that. I tried the spaghetti and it is decent. The crackers, peanut butter, cookie, M&M, and juice mix were all good. The vanilla shake mix isn't very good, though. All in all, this is a good survival food package. It will keep you going and supplement any additional food you can find when the world goes to sh*t."

"This is my first MRE purchase. I tried one of the packs and was suprised at the quality of the food. It had a hot entree, two big saltine crackers, peanut butter, big oatmeal raisin cookie, bag of peanut M&M's, lemonade drink mix, vanilla milkshake powder mix. I'm a picky eater and would not complain at all if I had to eat this camping or in an emergency. The big bonus is that they last about 8 years."

"Product is almost on par with actual military MREs minus packaging. I received 6 different entrees but all other items were exactly the same cracker, peanut butter, cookie, shake mix. Keep in mind the pictures display all side items...not what you will receive in one MRE. The lack of any variety with side items added with the issue date of March 2010 is why I only gave it 4 stars. Here is the problem the MREs are already almost 2 years old so at best they have only 1-2 years left to use them. The reason being is that the condition of which they were stored is unknown. Most warehouses are pretty warm depending on location. That being said CTD never claimed these were new issue and I plan to use them within a year anyways. If you are wanting long term storage go with dehydrated the Military doesnt use MREs as long term shelf life food either they destroy tons of old MREs. Overall happy with product for the price I would order another box.....blazing fast shipping as usually"

"Bought these for my Bug Out Bag, having never tried an MRE before in my life. I had always assumed that they were mediocre, given that their purpose is to last for a long time and pack a lot of calories. I ate one last night and it was great. I was rather shocked. They were produced in March 2010 and I'm assuming a storage temp of 80F so 62% of their shelf life is gone. That means at 70F they have 48 months left. Not bad if you ask me, but given how old they are I think the price should be $10 lower. These make excellent survival or emergency food and it's not as if they're about to expire. I got what I expected, so they get 5 bullets."

"I just ordered these and shipping was wicked fast, my production code is 0090, which means that if I figured it right they were made early march of 2010, I havent eaten them yet. But I'm not worried about taste, I just wish they were newer."

"My original review is down below somewhere. I just got another shipment of these and I figure I'd address an issue. I wouldn't worry about the shelf life. In iraq in 2004 I was eating MRE's made in 1990. Like they say, the color and texture may vary, but most of us survived it. Honestly these are better than the MIL MRE's."

"Pros: Good taste and the heaters work very well. You don't need anything else; everything needed to heat and eat this product comes with the meal.Cons: Freshness of the product could be better; I don't want to get a 1 year old product that only has a 5 year (or Less) shelf life. The price could be a little lower.Overall: This is a very good product."

"Ordered two cases, and they arrived within a week. Manufacture date was quite recent (no more than three months old). Best price around and with the fresh product, makes for excellent emergency rations."

"The shipping was fast. The MREs arrived on time. Not included: The Hot Sauce , Salt and Pepper, Napkin ( does have wet towel with each ). Not enough to be upset about. My production year was 2009. I was really hoping for a 2010 or 2011. Will work for now."

"Did not eat any because I am saving them and have eaten enough MREs in my life already. Code date is A-2009, which if I read the date instructions correctly, makes these about 3 months old. Got at least 4 years of life on them still. 12 meals but only 6 different menus, and all the snacks are pretty much the same. Only 4 bullets because there is no jalapeno cheese, hot sauce, M&M's, or Charms (just kidding about the Charms). Delivery was 2 days. Great job!"

"I ordered these a couple weeks ago. They arrived a quick 2 days later and as always, love CTD for that. Were manufactured in 2009. The main entree was good. However, all the secondary items were the same (oatmeal cookies, one chocolate chip, crackers, peanut butter, brown frosted pastry, and raisins). Also, the drink mix was horrible. With the lack of variety and only 6 meal options where the only thing that really changes is the main meal, I will be looking for different MRE style food next time."

"Good food and a decent price, but like the other guys, mine was almost four years old. If you're planning on using them within a year or so, it's a good deal."

"BLUF: Meh. 3 years old when I got them, no variety.PROS: Does the job, doesn't taste badCONS: I'll gladly pay the extra $10/case for better varietyI started buying MREs because of a tendency to travel to places where food is... unpredictable. I spent a few weeks in a small steel box in the middle east with a few soldiers who shared their MREs with me. They were great! Wide variety of both main courses and side dishes, even the snacks and desserts were good and had variety. They sent me home with as many as I could stuff in my suitcase; those are gone, I'm ready to restock!MUUUCH different than this stuff. 6 entrees, no side dish, same snacks, same desserts. Every entree came with:- Raisins- Peanut Butter and Crackers- Cinnamon/Brown Sugar Pop Tart- Hard Cookie (two kinds, taste the same)- TangThe Military MREs are much better, but you can't get them through official channels if you are a civilian. There are plenty of \"MRE Info\" sites out there that explain the differences, and the pros and cons of the civilian versions. There are better ones here; they just cost a little more. I think it's worth it."

"I actually liked these. I've had another brand that I did not like the taste of, but the two from this brand that I tasted were actually really good. I am pleased with my purchase."

"Just got these in today and decided to try one. They taste fine, but mine are a year old already and they come in inflated plastic bags that don't fit very well. If you want these for the weekend or for camping, it's a good buy, but you can find better civilian MREs elsewhere, in the right packing, so you can put 5 or 6 in a backpack, and they are fresh."

"Just arrived today, very happy with purchase. Have mfg date of 12/21/11, will keep for four or five years no problem. I use them for camping/hunt. Simple, light, and enough energy to hike/hunt all day. These have better date than others and are less money. I figure 90 day supply is best, as most people won't last that long without food and water. Then you can come out of your hole."

"I purchased a case of these to use during my fall big game hunts. I tossed one meal in my pack each day for lunch and found them to more than fill my need for a decent meal on the side of the mountains in Colorado!"

"After reading most reviews on this product and the time frame between when they were manufactured and when purchased. I thought I would take a chance and purchase a case. I realize the shelf life for these MREs isn't that long, but I figured worst case scenario I'd give them to my son who goes camping with the scouts all the time.It took nearly a week to get delivered (which I was NOT impressed with); however I am impressed with the manufacture date stamped on the case itself SEPTEMBER 2013. I'm surprised and impressed that a received a \"newly minted\" case of MREs. You also can't beat the taste of these MREs either!!!!Thanks CTD"

"Very fresh packages; shipping carton had mfg. date of 09/2013. The CTD shipping crew did a great job of packaging the MREs; instead of just putting a shipping label on the outside of the original carton, they put it in an outer carton. It arrived in great shape and on time. I got 2 cases. Both of them are great."

"Save your money for better MREs. These suck there's the same side items in each one . They are a few years old as well!"
