"Well I like these meal kits. However, the main dish does have a distinct after taste but the flavor of the meals are great. The sides are very nice too. I will put a case away for a rainy day!"

"I have not tasted these yet. On first exam seem to be a good product. Fine mix of varieties and roughage, a problem with the old MRE products. Note to those who may find the taste funny - MREs are meant to keep you going, not as epicurain delights. Try packing some seasoning with your kit. I am a Veteran and have a survival site I will not mention- and recommend these."

"Occasion, upset stomach during the day, two days, problems - (not from eating these foods)- came up on 2 in the morning getting past that too weak to drive to store, not much food at home, and need some bulk. Did not want to get into stored food but needed to. Tried the dried fruit, dried raisins and nuts, sugar cookies, and the drink mix. The parts I ate of the packets was like normal food. The pink lemonade drink mix seemed like fresh. How is my stomach? - I am feeling much better. Any emergency food that can do that gets my approval. Will test the main meals later."

"So after opening and trying another one of these I found that same distinct after taste agian. After a day in the rough I hit the spot on the money. JUST LIKE A EPICURIAN DELIGHT. I found that a pack of crackers took care of that after taste. These are a great way to mix up your stash. The menu if fairly different than others too. MREs are the perfect shtf meals or just to have on hand when you need a full meal. THANKS CTD"

"This is just your standard MRE, the taste is average and the shelf life is average... just your average MRE. For the price I should have bought a few more cases to supplement my years supply of freeze dried food. The price on these is only going to go up with the costs of food going up each and every year, stock up while you can!"

"First, there is no way to legally buy US mre's or any component there of. These are not stripped-down US mre's. They are just civilian versions and darn good ones at that for the money. The MRE Deluxe Complete 12 Meal Case from eversafe is a little better because it gives you more food per meal, but these pack more calories. And come with coffee, creamer and sugar. A plus I like. If you need a good mre for a good price these are it."

"Well I've been stocking up on extra food, waiting for obama to try and take over the country. I tried these and they are awesome. I will buy more."

"Good stuff, not the great variety of meals and sides, with side dishes of the military stuff I got in the Marines, but good stuff none the less. Shelf life was good when I got them, not 6 months until out of date like some of the more expensive ones I've seen in the reviews on this site. For the price you can't beat them, and the calorie content can't be beat, if you like lots of dried fruit and nuts, it's like trail-mix on steroids. Main pouch meals are standard MRE fare with that distinct \"chock-full-of-preservatives\" aftertaste, and they come with a standard issue military heater to boot. Going to buy another case to give out for Christmas presents with a box of 12ga, who couldn't use that in their trunk in-case of emergency?"

"Hard to give it just four bullets cause it tastes really good but zero variety in the side dishes (everything but the main entree is the same in each pack). But that's my only complaint. Went down fine and didn't want to come back out violently. Tried out the BBQ sauce and chicken- Entree: very yummy Tortillas: good Sugar Cookies: not bad Dried Fruit and Nuts: good Pink Lemonade Mix: really good Coffee: good enough."

"First of all, I deducted one bullet because they could be fresher, 8 mos from date of mfg for MRE's that were packaged for the civilian market, not mil surplus, could be improved upon. I ordered in Dec 2011 and they were mfg in April 2011.OK, other than the mfg date, this civilian would give them 5 Bullets. You'll get a kick out of the symbolism, I tried my first MRE as dinner during Obama's state of the union speech last night as I was assembling my Bug out Bag. It occured to me that I should actually try one of the MRE's before a SHTF situation occurs, in a controlled environment like my kitchen where I didnt have to boil or purify water or familiarize myself with the whole process under duress. For other civilians who have never prepared or consumed a MRE, here is my experience. First each meal is PVC vac packed so I have no doubt that they will remain fresh and useful for quite some time. Similuating the wild, the only utensil I used in preparation was my pocket knife to open sealed bags, etc.First, I opened the entree to experience the whole MRE heating routine. You take the entree (Chicken Stew is the one I tried) out if its cardboard box and put it into the heating bag, holding both the entre and heater pak above the water line in the bag, you then add about an ounce of water to the fill line at the bottom of the bag, slip both the entre and heater back to the bottom of the bag, fold the top flap over and then put the whole thing back into the box to heat up for 10 minutes. During this time, I ate the packet of dried fruit which was good but dried fruit is pretty standard, mixed up the Pink Lemonade powder which was suprisingly good, and opened the package of tortillas to go along with my Chicken stew entree. After ten minutes in the heater bag, the entree was hot as expected and actually pretty darn tasty! It wasnt unpleasant at all as I had expected. I finished the meal with the sugar cookies, which were excellent and unbroken in their pouch,...."

"I was amazed how fast they arrived. I ordered them on Friday and they arrived the next day. I tried the Beef Stew and was very surprised how good it tasted. Much better than the old C-Rations we had when I was in the Army. The dried fruit was delicious. I really liked the heating pouch and the food came out piping hot.We used to use C-4 like sterno to heat our C-Rations. They have come a long way with meals for our troops. I am very satisfied and will order more to stock up my emergency stores. Thank you."

"An update on the MRE Star meals: all were very tasty, but we opened all 12 and my daughter and I were bummed. No sugar cookies in any of the packs. Don't get me wrong, they're well worth the bucks and fresh and tasty. Still great service from CTD, but I need my sugar fix please. These cookie pictures had me drooling."

"Every year when my father and I go elk hunting, we always bring MREs because they have a lot of calories and are pretty scent-proof. Generally, they are bland, but not these! Tortillas were a bit stale, but it's about the same for standard MRE starches. Had sugar cookies in all the dinner meals. Awesome! These are much better than any MRE I have had to date. With such a low price, we will definitely be buying more!"

"As others have written, this order came very fast via FedEx. Production date was 2/2012 so I have a max expiration date. Very happy with CTD and their products! Have not eaten any yet, as I want to keep them sealed, just in case."

"Ordered four cases and had fast shipping. Born on date is end of Feb '12. Tried a breakfast biscuit n gravy and everything was as expected. Will be buying more next month."

"As always, great shipping time! MRE stars are great emergency rations and always tasty. Production date of 2/2012 so very fresh. My only qualm is that CTD gave me two identical cases with the same meals. Would have been happy with some diversity to my MREs, so I took one bullet away."

"I bought a case of these based on the prior good reviews, and I was not disappointed! They have a very recent production date. I tried one out today and it tasted great. Definitely worth the money and I will be buying more to keep on hand."

"I just received the 3 cases and each one had the exact same set of 4 lunch/dinner entrees. A little variety would have been nice, and there were no breakfast meals included. The 2 cases I ordered maybe six months ago DID have breakfast meals. Food is pretty good for MREs and I will buy again. I probably got a better deal without the smaller breakfast items, but chicken & rice tastes kind of weird first thing in the morning!"

"Outstanding MRE buy! This is another one you want to buy, and store for your family, really great packaging, fast shipping, and save you \"beau coup\" money."

"Picked these up for my bug-out bag. Like others have stated, the meal choice you get is completely random. I got a nice selection. The dates I received are several years out. Havent eaten any yet, hopefully I wont have to any time soon. These are very worth it for the price."

"Since I do a lot of long road trips, I'm always looking for a non fast food alternative that's easy to prepare. MRE Star MREs are excellent and fit the bill. What you get in a case is totally random, but I got a good selection of 8 dinner/lunch entrees (basically more hearty meals like pasta with marinara sauce, or chicken noodle stew) along with 4 breakfast entrees. The packaging is full on military grade, and you get a good compliment of extras like salt/pepper, instant coffee, wet nap, spoon, etc. The only weird thing about these is the heater, it's like an industrial sized flameless ration heater, and isn't the typical one I'm used to using. Nothing hard to figure out, but you should familiarize yourself with the instructions, rather than trying how to work it in an emergency situation. All in all, an excellent choice for anyone looking for great outdoor food, or just prepping for an emergency!"

"Took these out on a day adventure gave 2 to my friends and we were amazed on how good they tasted. Main dishes were good hearters worked great... the dried fruit was delicious, cookies, nut mix and drink mix were all good too, really didn't expect such a good meal coming out of a package."

"Bought two cases of these for bug out gear and for disaster preparedness at home (e.g. hurricanes, etc.). They are what they are, which is your typical MRE. They aren't five star cuisine, but they serve their purpose. I have had no issues with any of these, with the exception of the BBQ chicken pack. That was just because I am picky about my BBQ though... :) overall, great product and fast shipping as always."
