"This is a nice sized bag, about as big as a toaster. The nylon is waterproof and has a plastic coating on the inside. Once you unclip the cover it unrolls to reveal 3 separate pouches. Two smaller pouches contain emergency water packets and the larger one has the emergency food and first aid stuff. This kit is more about emergency food and water than cuts and scrapes. Combine this with a more comprehensive first aid kit and you will be set for a long trip in the car. It has a shoulder strap which is adjustable and robust. Each zipper has a short length of chord tied to it for easy grasping. There is a MOLLE panel on the back to attach to your PALS webbing. One downside is the material this bag is made of smells very bad. However it will go away after you air it out a while."

"Per another review, the bag does have a bit of an odor, though this passes quickly. The main compartment has plenty of room for additional emergency items. I have added a small crank-type LED light/AM-FM radio, a Leatherman multi-tool, an additional glow stick, some waterproof matches, a whistle, mirror, inexpensive compass, some water purification tablets, a small container of insect repellant, a small container of sun screen, a P-38 can opener, a little fork-spoon-knife camping combo, and even two small marine type flares. While this combination is hardly complete enough to live in luxury, it should see most people through at least three days of an emergency under most situations. This item is well worth the price, and is a good starting point for a more extensive survival grab-bag."

"I think that DRA sums it up very well. There is no such thing as a \"magic bag\" that can tend to your every single potential need in an emergency situation. But this bag can either be used alone to cover the basics - or preferably, IMO, as a platform to build a more comprehensive kit.At the very minimum, I would add in another light source (small LED flashlight) and some more first aid items - as I did when I bought this kit and gave it to a loved one that has a long commute through an isolated area.Don't think that anyone is knocking this kit just because we're adding things in, either. What the kit DOES have is pretty much the basic \"universal\" needs in ANY situation. Any \"extras\" would depend on YOUR circumstances. As for the smell...I didn't really notice it with mine. Maybe some were just in storage a bit longer? In summation - NICE bag with decent supplies and room to add more. And the cheapest price I've found on this kit. EVERYONE *needs* to have some sort of 3-day emergency kit on hand - in the car, home, or office (or all three). If you're just getting started, or want to help someone else, this kit is a great buy!"

"I got 2 of these to go in each of my vehicles. They are a good starter emergency kit, and there's plenty of room to add more items. I added another blanket to each one, some more first aid supplies, and a few other items to make it a 2 person kit, and it doesnt' take up much room at all. Fits easily behind the seat in my S-10 and under the seat in my wife's Grand Prix. The bag is good quality, and the odor goes away fairly quickly with a simple air-out."
