"I just got my survival pouch and I am fairly impressed. It is a decent setup which you could and probably should add to. The only drawback was the scissors which in the description are medical scissors but I got student scissors. So I would recommend it but with the condition that you add to it and waterproof the contents."

"This is a great starter for a survival pouch. I say starter because it basically has all the essentials all I had to do is add a few of my personal items. I added some protein bars, magnifying glass, pain relievers, razor blades, a all fishing kit and an emergency blanket. I had to do some careful packing but it all fit. I probably could have fit more but I didn\uFFFDt want to stuff the pouch."

"The other reviews are right on - good starter kit, better with more stuff added such as pain relievers, power bar, etc. With mine the compass did not work correctly, and I had to can it. The rest is usefull - the pouch pack container is good quality and has room for more essentials."

"I was so disappointed with this \"survival\" pouch that I dumped it out and started over. The shake-light never worked. The thumb-saw belongs in a flea market Rambo knife. I got better scissors in kindergarten. But try this: the best part of this product was the CTD MOLLE pouch, so order it separately (MOLLE-451), add CTD's weatherproof lighter (CAMP-623) or matches (CAMP-348), signal whistle (X-403-C1), battery-free flashlight (X-008-L8), multitool (35009, or much better, 35014), also a pair of solid work gloves, a 7.5\" mini prybar, a mini first aid kit and small pair of medical scissors (all these at your hardware store). I fit all this and more in mine. If you're truly concerned with preparedness, skip these \"cheap, easy answer\" kits and do it yourself with better products from CTD. (Also check out Aton Edwards' preparedness and survival publications for help.)"

"I got this for my son's wilderness survival merit badge. It definitely needed some adding to but what do you expect for 20 bucks. The first aid supplies were what I was least impressed with (3 band aids and some gauze). I liked the shaker flashlight a lot no batteries to worry about. Overall a real nice starter that leaves room to customize to your own needs."

"some thing to get you by , but you can add more stuff to it , fishing gear, an a multi tool ( like leatherman) the compass is crap, would not trust the asprin , maby a candel would be a nice add in,an water puri tabs, but its decent to get started an your mind set , good gift to a scout ."

"i got one mainly for the pouch, just get the pouch the stuff in its i guess is a starter it all worked the question was for how long... i like the pouch, pretty much the rest of it i chucked and traded out. or i built gift kits with....over all it would work and it is a good ctd product. but you will be disappointed with it if your serious."

"Wow, there is alot of stuff in here. Some of the stuff I will be replacing like the scissors. I will replace them with trauma sheers. But the bag is big and some things are going to stay, others will go into other parts of my bug out bag."
