Original US Military chemical agent detection kit was used to detect the presence of blood, blister and nerve agents in both liquid and vapor form.

This M256A1 kit contains a booklet of M8 paper, 12 disposable detectors that are individually sealed, and instructions all packed in a plastic case.

The 7x5x3" case is constructed of impact plastic with a nylon carrying strap and belt attachment.

Manufactured date 12/89, Expiration date 12/94, NSN 6665-01-133-4964

The M256A1 is a Chemical Warfare (CW) vapor detection kit for Nerve, "H" series Blisters, Lewisite and Blood Agents. It has been used by our ground troops as well as EOD and NBC Teams for decades. Due to the compactness of the kits and ease of use, ground troops are able to carry several of these on their person, allowing them to perform rapid area surveys to detect the release of a CW agent. The 256 kit does not contain any means for decontamination. only to detect the presence of the agent. When M8 paper comes into contact with liquid "G" series Nerve agents, the paper will turn a yellow to Amber color. When exposed to liquid VX Nerve agent, the paper turns green. When exposed to liquid "H" Series Blister agent, the paper turns red. These are the only three agents the M8 paper will detect.

These kits are brand new and being sold as collectors items only

"I ordered this kit out of curiosity. The condition is new. I'm not sure what I will use it for. The red cross emblem is a decal that can be removed if you want. It appears to be worth the money."

"Ok, I had a misconception when I bought this. I thought it would have a powder or liquid for decontamination, it had none. Just two od green bottles with brushes attached to thier lids. I would do a translation for u guys but theres alot of writing on the inside lid. Over all good quallity, unissued but I'm unsure of what the heck id use this thing for."

"This kit is for detection ov various chemical agents. The glass ampules are crushed and turn the test paper some color if there is something present. The tab at lower right is rubbed against the "pill" for a color change and the green ampules are heaters for the first test. They smoke and should be used with gloves and outdoors."
