"Don't be fooled...this is a waste of money. The Chinese maker of this butt padd failed to account for the length of the butt plate screw (which the directions say to use). The pad requires about a quarter inch of the stock screw; thus preventing enough of the screw's threads to securely fasten the extended butt pad."

"As the previous reviewr notes; Existing screw not enough to secure. You need to get longer screw. Glue the pad to the exisiting plate. More screws and holes in stock and the orig plate. Something to actually secure otherwise it swivels on the exisintg screw. Probably would even with longer screw.Good idea. This however is poor execution."

"I can only echoe the others - it just plain don't work! The main reason is that the stock screw is just not long enough and the areas underneath contacting the original buttplate do not offer enough of a contact area to keep the extension from swivelling, even with a longer screw. So, now I'm stuck with it and out the $. A shame really as this is the only item I've bought from CTD that has not lived up to expectations."

"While I had no trouble with original screw described by others, the screw only holds the center of rubber pad. The ends remain loose and catch on stuff. Only fix would be to glue firmly in addition. Not what I feel is intended, but it does offer extra length for us tall fellas.... For the price I would expect better"

"I concur with the comments and observations of the previous reviewers. Frankly, this product is unworthy of sale by CTD. Although there is a need for such a product, this one is worthless without major alteration. To utilize it, I removed enough wood from the stock butt so that it would fit over the butt, replacing the metal plate. I filled the new butt with fiberglass resin to within 3/16\" of the mounting surface and embedded a 1/8\" dia. stabilizer pin in the resin to fit into a hole below the stock screw hole. With these modifications, the installation is stable and looks good."

"Went back to give it another shot with a longer screw I picked up at Lowes. While the slightly longer one gripped better, there was still the rotation problem. I can only urge CTD come up with a better, re-designed product that will actually work as advertised."

"Read the other reviewers posts and they are spot on. I ordered this and a used buttplate together. I drilled a hole through the pad's screw hole so when I inserted the plate screw it would make direct contact with the metal plate. I then attached the pad to the plate w/ an epoxy.$19.00 got me a little more length of pull"
