Elk Skinner II Knife -
The new fixed-blade Elk Hunter II features a premium AUS8A stainless-steel blade. This steel choice offers high hardness and excellent edge retention capabilities so you don't have to keep sharpening and re-sharpening during the tough chores of dressing and butchering. The blade also offers corrosion resistance -- an important plus when it comes to hunting tasks. The 1078GH's gut hook is designed to take care of the job quickly and easily.
Gut Hook Blade -
The gut hook is used by making a small incision with the main blade, then by using the hook to cut open the abdomen. For great performance when field dressing game, a gut, or skinning hook is an ideal tool.
Finger grips and a nurled thumb ramp ensure a firm grip on this traditionally styled hunter that has been a part of the product line since the early 1900's.
AUS 8 -
A Japanese made medium carbon, high chromium stainless steel, which offers a good balance of toughness, edge sharpness and corrosion resistance.
This material is a thermoplastic compound that is processed in much the same way as any type of plastic. The difference is that Santoprene possesses the same levels of flexibility and durability that are commonly found with natural rubber compounds. Because of the longer life of Santoprene in both extreme hot and cold environments, the material is often preferred over the use of rubber.
