"I purchased this firearm because I wanted a 45-70 with a scope and did not want to mount one on my guide gun.I have a pre remington H&R handirifle and have taken to carrying it almost exclusively for hunting with a rifle. I like the modular design, like an ar15 that you can change out barrels, stocks, forearms and sights. I took delivery of this 45-70 this week, was very happy with look and feel of rifle and the very comfortable recoil pad on the stock. What I was not impressed with was the lockup of the action, requiring a very heavy, 2 thumb push to break the gun. after investigating figured out the wood on the forearm was drilled for the attachment screw a little short putting to much pressure on action when assembled. A somewhat easy fix removing a little material to make better with a wood rasp but this gun, despite being a cheaper utility rifle should never have left the factory in this condition. The rifle shoots good with 405s, all I shot so far. I would buy one again but know what to expect."

"Outstanding rifle. First thing was take it apart and clean it. Now it's a one hand open and close deal. Lock in box was loose and beat up the bluing on barrel some. Stock has great grain pattern in it. Fires cast bullets around 1300 fps. very comfortably. Working up to about 1750 fps. for large hairy things. Not going to put a scope on it. It's a simple rifle so I'll keep it that way."
