"I purchased this because the description said it was German and it certainly is not. I had a big sticker on the blade that said \"made in China\". It seems fairly sturdy but it looks like the handle at least may be connected with aluminum although most of it feels like steel. Also when I opened it up, it dumped rusty flakes all over me which doesn't inspire confidence. The case however was made by Lighthouse Industries for the Blind so that seems legit and raised the bullets I gave it from 2 too 3."

"I got this thing for my bug out bag, and it seems pretty nice to me. No rust flakes like the previous reviewer. As for being German, mine also had a big \"Made In China\" sticker on it. Although, it seems more like it's simply been refurbished in China. The case was rugged and faily used with some handy ALICE clips on the back that fixed it nice onto the outside of my bag. The shovel had a fresh coat of glossy, black paint covering a few craters and what looked like a rust bump that had been painted over. Overall, it's a satisfying product worth the money I spent."
