"Nice set. Very sturdy. Everything fits nice and snug, you don't have to worry about something coming loose while its packed away. However the spoon is HUGE. If you ever need a shovel this will do!"

"Overall a nice quality set, everything was in good shape. However this set is definitely bigger than i expected and weighs a lot more than i would like. I pack two of these things and together they must weigh at least a pound. Go for some titanium flatware instead if you can afford it."

"When stationed in Germany, I traided my equptment with Germans. I basically didn't have any cloths or equiptment left. An expensive choice :-). I loved this set, it's tightly packed the knive is very sharp, and yes, the spoon is huge, but so is the one in the American's mess set. We called the U.S. one an entrenching tool. But when you're cold, on the run toward or from the enemy, fine dining is out of the question and getting the food in your belly quickly is all that matters. I'll order one for my son and myself. It'll be a great camping / survival item."

"I received two sets today - one was like new and the other was used but in excellent shape. These sets are somewhat heavy but I plan on using them as camp kitchen utensils and not backpacking sets. Another good value from CTD."

"Both of mine showed up in good condition. One is a little less \"rattle free\" than the other, but no problems beyond that. They are pretty heavy, but i would still consider taking them along because of the durable construction. The knife is so durable it's almost capable of being used in applications other than eating, the can opener works very well."

"for backpacking or a bug out bag, there are lighter options, like the Light My Fire spork, which is cheap, or the Ti goodies.but for a kit you're going to leave in the car/truck, or take with you car camping, this set is great. i have one, and i'm happy to fine more at a good price. will pack 'em in the camp kitchen box and with the Swedish messkit that has the alcohol stove for keeping in the truck.might not be bad for keeping at the office, instead of the plastic disposable junk that's almost worthless."

"Purchased two sets and very pleased. Mine arrived in nearly new condition. They are a little heavier than I would have liked, but these things are very sturdy and built to last (German engineering). Especially like the man sized spoon, it's really great for soups or stews. I'm sure these sets will still be around for my grand kids to get some use out of them. They are made that good."

"just got mine today, and i'm rethinking putting them in my pack. im carrying enough heavy stuff as it is, so i think i might spend a few bucks on some lighter weight options. very solid, and in great shape, but definitely used (mine came with leftover food on the spoon. eww.). if youre thinking about carrying this around for 8-12hrs, think again. for a short hike, or canoe trip, or camping that doesnt involve scaling a cliff, these will suffice. btw, the spoon could double as an E-tool. it's that huge."

"Great tools. Bought two sets. Lost one. Now buying 3 more. Heavy duty stainless. Mine were clean and like new. Take note of how they go together before you take them apart. Butter knife is only good for butter. Great price. Will last forever."

"A fantastic set of utensils. Great stainless quality and tough as nails. This set will outlive you! I bought four of them and going to get more now that I've seen them in hand. Say what you want about the Germans, but wow! they sure didn't send there boys to war with a bunch of crap! Pick up a few sets of these, you'll be glad you did."

"I get this mess kit on July 31, 2009. Works great and the spoon is about the some size as the WW2 era USA mess kit."

"Great for general camping. The way it is assembled is nice. Pretty heavy for backpacking as mentioned but GREAT for everything else. This will fit inside a closed U.S. Mess kit which is what I wanted."

"Showed up in great almost-like-new shape. Ordered 4 more!"

"they are big, strong, and heavy. but when i got them they looked like they were used (and not washed afterward), and they had rust on the handles. i polished them off, and they look like they'll last forever"

"I bought a couple sets of these a while back and am very happy with them. They are solid and don't bend like USGI utensils, you could probably dig a foxhole with the spoon, plus they all lock together so they're not scattered around a ruck sack. One set was shiny & new and the other set was a little dull/scratched, but still as useful as the new ones."

"It's a utensil set. It does the job, doesn't rust in my pack. I have zero complaints."

"I got two of these and both look like they are new. This is one solid utensil set. Don't second guess buying this set."

"This will be my 4th time buying this, the last 3 buys was above and beyond what I expected. Save your money and buy all at once."

"I ordered this along with other stuff monday afternoon. Got it at 11 this morning. Well, it seems pretty good. Has a little wear and tear on it, but nothing too drastic. Just some scratches here and there. The knife came unsharpened, not sure if you can really cut something solid with it. And yes, the spoon is MASSIVE. All together it does seem somewhat heavy, but it shouldn't be a problem. I'll have to go out into the field and use it before I can give a solid review, but as for now, This thing gets 4 bullets."

"took the apart and cleaned the up, but haven't really used them. Have a trip comming up, maybe get a good field test. Craftsmanship seems great so far."

"This set of utenciles is awsome. It is compact and heald together well. It came clean and in new condition. The spoon is a little big but who cares. When your in the sticks and hungry you'll appreciate the big spoon. A Great Buy for the money."

"I love German stuff. I bought it to keep in my backpack for work. The ole lady\uFFFDs happy to because I won't be losing the kitchen silverware at work."

"This will last forever. It is well made and heavy, as heavy as regular silverware can be. I know the Russian army uses aluminum silverware. So for light backpacking, where every ounce counts, you would go with something lighter. I will keep a couple of these sets in my truck."

"These are heavy duty so not really suited for backpacking/mountaineering long distances. They are in fantastic condition and very heavy duty. Perfect for a family camping trip or a BOB along with your stove and food."

"Not cheaply made. And the can opener really works. The spoon, like someone said, could be used to dig a trench around your tent. Or maybe a fire pit. Only improvement would be a little bag to slip the set into."

"As said many times before this is one sturdy, heavy, tank of a set but I love it. And yes you will never have to carry a shovel again because the spoons got ya covered."

"Heavy duty stainless and nests together tightly. I need to buy more because these things are great. One for work and some for the hunt camp. That spoon is ginormous! Used for ladling up man portions of sturdy Germanic suppe. Not for the weak of heart or limbs. Great price CTD, Thanks!"

"When these are in stock, I will get more. I need enough for my family and me. I have two sets and need 5 to 7 more sets."
