"Love the bag, but as noted in the product description there was some oxidation (rust) on the hardware, and it definitely smells musty after being stored for so long. I used a ton of oil to try and bring the leather back to life. I was surprised that the entire bag is lined with leather- it's surprisingly heavy duty. It'll need some time to work the oil in and I might store some blocks in it to get it to take its shape back (it was squished flat forever)."

"Very interesting bag. Harsh fabric. Would not do well as a purse or anything. Nothing skin on bag. Would rub you raw. Very hard hard HARD canvas. Wouldn't be able to fold it into a smaller pack or anything."

"What do you guys use to get rid of the musty surplus smell? Not only on this but in general? Solid bag. Definitely authentic as you just can't fake that smell. The bag is almost completely leather lined which makes it a bit heavier than I thought but it is tough. It will do well for my intended purpose...which oddly enough is ammo and mag carrying. Be well."

"Well-made, heavy duty, vintage shoulder bag. Needs some love and glove oil to resurrect but worth it. I stuffed mine with newspaper for a few days after oiling the leather to restore shape and that worked great. Will use this for ammo and magazines. Could also be used as a range bag. I love how vintage it is. Has 3 internal canvas dividers for keeping items (boxes of ammo, muffs, cleaning kit, magazines, silicone wipes, etc.) organized in 4 compartments. This bag easily has another 30 years left"

"I bought this to carry shotgun shells. Very heavy duty construction. The outside is canvas, the inside top bottom and back is lined with leather. Double wall canvas dividers make 4 square pouches that fit 20 gauge shotgun shell boxes exactly stacked 2 high. I used coconut oil on the leather and the canvas, much cheaper than leather products. Filled it half way with pennies topped with 20 gauge boxes and wadded news paper to fix its shape. Will h20 proof with bees wax and turpentine mixture."
