"When I first put on the vest I found it to be a really good fit. Once I started to move around and play air soft, it came to me that due to the weight the vest can wear you down. All in all my experiences with the vest was great. If you like the whole armored look, and what to be sure that when you get shot by air soft you won't feel it then buy this vest."

"I took this picture while on a break during a Howitzer training session in the Netherlands. My other flak vest cuaght on fire because of one of my friends stupid moves, lol. Anyways, this is a great flak vest,it does what it's supposed to, and is in good condition. Fits anyone from about 5'7" on up, it's also not very heavy.Great Job Cheaper Than Dirt."

"This is a very nice vest. Extremely lightweight compared to other flak jackets that I have. Says one size fits most, but it gets tight on anyone over a "medium" size. Some flak jackets have some bulletproof stopping power. This on the other hand is meant strictly for combat use to stop shrapnel and other flak. It does not absorp much impact though, so you will still know you got hit."

"Well, im 270 pounds, and 6 foot 3 inches tall, but with alittel adjustment this still fits, I did some practice karate in my living room to simulate hand to hand combat, and it didnt come loose. The toughest part is getting it on, takes about a minute or so for me, helps to use a mirror. The condition is great, says it was made in 1988, there are some words on the back, I speak german so I will transelate:First words are... Only decoration..???lol, w/eSecond words are... Marquardt and Schulz (company name?)Then it says...MK (mark?) splitter guard waistcoat, short8470-12-309-0235 Q/B52B/H0183/H24461988Then there are some picutres of water with 60Celsius on it, and other symbols I think I recognize from military maps, like mountain infantry, but thats a guess. Then it says...Take protection packages out before laundry and cleaning. Carefully dry damp waistcoat. Keep in dark. Then in bold text says...NOTE! THIS WAISTCOAT CAN SAVE LIVES. Therefore it is to be treated well, so that the splitter guard remains. Not with measurers or other pointed articles except those shown.Love it, thanks CTD"

"Me and my buddy each have one of these for our airsoft matches, this is a very good vest and will protect you perfectly from bb's.You can even unzip it to take the padding out and replace it with metal plates for better protection!overall I would rate this a very good flak vest."

"Man.... $39????? How can you NOT get this?? I love this vest, I'm going to test the ballistics of the vest in a few weeks, I'll fill you in on my evaluation. But seriously, I've been told this vest passes NIJ level II A tests.... pretty sweet deal for $39, oh yea, the fit is very nice very very nice. And it looks BRAND NEW!!"

"I play paintball and use a shield to suport teamates. somtimes badguys can get behind and really cause some damage. So to solve this problem and to keep pain off my back, I got this vest. Im a smaller guy about 5'9"140 and it fits me pretty good. You still know you got hit but if thier close u will have enough time to get turned around and get some fire on them, and not be on the ground to keep the pain off ya. cammo mixed with some Austrian fleck has allowed me to sneak up on some folks and kept me from being seen. A terrific vest, keep up the great work Cheaper Than Dirt :)"

"My vest was like brand new! Now this vest isn't like the woodland camo one the army used, this one goes on with velcro, but fits great. The one aspect that I love about this vest is the zipper compartments where you can ADD MORE ARMOR PLATING! Can't go wrong with this vest especially for the price."

"This vest is extremely great! It is light enough to use as a Airsoft vest but heavy enough to stop the powerful rounds, up to 600 fps, with little much as a light thump through the vest. I'm 160 lbs and 5' 10" and this vest fits very loosely on me. The vest was soposedly used before but other than a stitching patch on the front you can barely tell that it was used. It is very good with the flecktarn camo, I blend in great with the woods that I compete in. It is a little heavy and will tire you out after a while, so to remedy this I just train in it with on training runs and obsticle courses. I am not usually a hard charging attacker, I am usually a guy who defends the fort, holds the line, or who escorts or protects someone. But when I do attack or when I'm defending it works perfectly for protection. In all I give this a great 5, all you need is to train in it."

"I got this flak vest on Xmas I was suprised because it was in brand new condition with no sign of use what so ever, and it was suprisingly light and it fits perfect. This was a great buy and I will probably use when I go paintballing, you cant go wrong purchasing this flak vest."

"I am a Woodsball player and this flak vest was a great investment. It does help camo me very well it is kinda on the heavy side but you get used ti ot quickly. You can take a hit from around 10 ft before it starts to sting. Plus you can add or take away padding if you need to. I love it and I am glad I bought it. Paintball players it is worth if you love to play but hate the bruises."

"This is a nice flak vest. It is relatively comfortable to wear, as far as these types of flak vests go. It is priced really low, and is great for a Military collection, or German military uniform/kit for airsoft. I dont at all recommend using this for ANY actual task requiring ballistic protection(or really any real task at all). It says that it is not sold as a bullet-proof vest and that is because it isnt. This vest complies with a ballistic rating of absolutely no higher than IIA, which is the second lowest rating (most of these German flak vests would be level I-the lowest rating) according to the NIJ ballistic scale. But they supposidly protect form shrapnel."

"I am a hardcore milsim airsoft player. my team is modern German themed and we all wear this vest. it is the best vest we have worn in a long time. it stops all 6mm bb's and u can barley feel them. Its very comfortable and only ways 6 pounds. a little hard to aim with tho if your using a g36 or g36c vairent."

"these vests where made to stop sharpnel, not fast moving bullets, but people have been shoting these vests up and it seems they hold up well against low velocity rounds such as 380acp, 45acp and even the .40 round. faster calibers such as the 9mm luger sometimes penetrates though, and of course all high-power rifle calibers do. i've taken the sholder panels of and mounted them on the front inside, doubling the layers of kevlar over the heart-lung zone. it's not something that should be brought to a tour in iraq, but for $40 it has a given place in the shtf stash together with the gas-mask, water filter, mres and the carbine."

"Mine was in decent shape, the kevlar pieces were nice but the actual cloth portion of the vest was torn or ripped in a couple places and other areas were well worn. I'm about 5'4" and 135lbs and the vest length was perfect, it hit at my waist and I could easily tighten the vest around my stomach area with plenty of room.Definitely a nice piece for paintballing or one day if I'm brave enough, for trap or something since the pocket in the front is a nice place to put shells - plus ya never know who'd accidently shoot ya with bird shot *wink wink*"

"I got the vest for a milsim paintball game, and I was concerned before I got my package in the mail (promptly too, might I add) because of the ad's warning that 'one size fits most.' I'm 6' tall and 210 lbs, and often enough 'one size fits most/all' doesn't quite fit me. The vest fits me well. I was incredibly impressed. Both sides of the vest velcro off, as does one of the shoulders. I'm too fond of mine, but I'm planning to order a second vest for some mild ballistics testing at my local range. Mine got here in almost new condition. I might have been lucky, but other than a crease here or there my vest came in perfect condition with sharp colors on the camo. Even the velcro came clean! I would never wear this vest for ballistics protection with any real expectation of stopping a bullet, but its heavy enough that it just might. Also, unlike many police style vests, the kevlar goes to the bottom of the vest, and there is no apron to tuck into your pants, leaving you one less thing to worry about when putting on your vest. I really don't think I could be happier with much else in the world for $50."

"I have the used jacket that actually has quite a few what seems to be bullet entering holes in it. I got it from a relative and it has has been suiting me well. It it quite hot in the summer but all I have to do is roll the sleeves up. It is very durable material. Good camo, dark colored at night to ambush. It defitnatly stops airsoft bullets with or without kevlar.Unless someone has an ICS or ECHO 1 400-fps and up. I myself also have the matching used german military pants. Same material. I defitnatly recomend it for simulations/paintball/airsoft battles. Please do not use it as a real BPV. Thank you, Airsoft MG 'er"

"I bought this to complete a German uniform I was assembling for wargaming and I've got to say, this thing rocks. It very adjustable, comfortable, and even with the kevlar removed still a hefty vest. This thing is worth every penny.I am heavily considering buying another. It is just so awesome!"

"This is a great vest, and the price is a bargain; I saw this vest go for $155 with 11 bids on ebay. It fits well, is in good condition, and the kevlar panels are removable! As to it's protection level, various testing suggests it provides level 2A protection, which is not a guarantee at all, as these are in various conditions and are mil-surplus. However, you can obtain soft level 2 kevlar panels from bulletproofme.com for cheap and add them to the vest to up-armor it, since the pannels open up and you can add or remove kevlar Great vest, great buy."

"I just got this vest and it was in perfect condition. I am 5.6 feet tall and 100 lbs and it fits me perfectly. I got it for paintball and it works really good for it. It dosent ristict your movement at all, and it is very lightweight for the amount of protecttion it has. I really like the zipper pockets that you can put more armor in or take the armor out. I also like the ballistic collar that you can flip up and adjust to protect your neck from paintballs. This vest is the best thing for playing paintball. The camo blends in really good with the woods I play paintball in. The price was really cheap and the product was in perfect condition. I highly recomend buying this vest. Good job CTD!"

"I ordered this iteam after seeing others go on Ebay for near to twice as much. No pics here for the actual item, but I figured oh well, how bad could it be?? As with everything from CTD, the item was shipped exactly on time, and very securely!Opened the box to reveal a BRAND NEW, NEVER WORN Flak Vest!!! It smells like fabric, and not like anything stinky or musty. The velcro was lterally new, and the color and tone of the camo was sharp and well defined. This is truly a deal beyond any normal deal you'd find on-line. It is slightly lighter in weight than a US Flak Vest (old 80's and up) version, but is much more comfortable. It protects much better as well as far as coverage goes. The vest comes with kevlar inserts, which again are slightly lighter than the US version, but you can add plates to add more protection! Beyond well worth the price!! A++++"

"After putting it on and checking it out in person, the picture doesn't do it justice. Mine was hardly "like new" but it was fairly good. It is slightly faded and had a strong dusty smell. I had to wash the cover, my allergies couldn't take it. I recommend hand washing. Now that it's clean I don't want to take it off, its just too cool! I ordered a second."

"So i just got it in the mail. I must say that i truly love it. the only problem (very small in my opinion) is that the right shoulder cuff/guard is a little uneven by about 3 cm. this only matters because I cant see the german flag symbol on my right arm sleve. but in terms of preformance and flexiblitly it is absolutely amazing! Great price for a great buy."

"I just got my today. I really like it a lot. This vest is in great condition and the Kevlar is dated 1995, not too bad. I bought this to complete my Flecktarn Camo outfit. I went with Flecktarn over Multicam because second only to Multicam, I believe Flecktarn is the best camo in the world and really inexpensive surplus. Just look at the price of this Flak vest! Where else are you going to find $10 Flecktarn shirts and $20 pants. It just makes more sense too me. I also live near Ft. Bragg, NC and Flectarn blends in well around here. Better than the Army's ACU!! There is plenty of room in the vest to add more armor. This vest also fits me pretty well. Im 5'8" at 160 lbs and its a little bigger than I like but roomy and comfortable."

"I was concerened about the fit as I am 6' 230lb but, as others have said it fits good. Maybe a little short but otherwise fine. Well, I destroyed my first one today doing some testing but I will be ordering more.AS STATED IN THE ITEM DESCRIPTION. THIS IS NOT A BULLETPROOF VEST AND SHOULD NOT BE USED AS SUCH!That being said I decided to test mine against .22, 9mm, .40, and .38 SPL. All testing was conducted at 10yds into back of vest in different areas. Vest was hung over 2 4x8x12 cement blocks stacked on top of each other..22LR Federal 36gr HP out of 4" Handgun. Easily stopped. Bullet was recovered on the outside of the internal "kevlar" or whatever it is, liner. I'm fairly impressed, figured a .22 would slip through.9mm Speer Gold Dot 147gr HP out of Beretta 92. Sent the blocks tumbling with authority but bullet was recovered behind inside liner. Pretty much made it through the kevlar but barely left a mark on the cinder block. At least it slowed it way down. Of note: There was little to no expansion of the hollow point, which surprised me. Maybe the material clogged the HP? Would probably just cause a flesh wound if hit with a 9mm HP. However....9mm 124gr FMJ out of Beretta 92. Punched straight through back of vest and broke the top block in half. Bullet was not recovered. I'd imagine you'd still be in trouble if hit with a 9mm FMJ at this range. 38 SPL Hornady Critical Defense 115 GR HP out of Smith 442. I figured since the 9mm HP didn't open up I'd try the new Hornady CD "flextip" ammo and see if it would prevent the HP from being clogged. This round rocked the setup but didn't knock it over. Bullet was recovered on the outside of the kevlar, but it cut the inside liner so I'd say it almost made it through. Would probably leave a good mark but wouldn't kill you. Bullet did not expand, same results as the 9m HP. Bullet was a little scrunched up and flex tip was still in HP cavity..40 SW 165 GR Speer Gold Dot out of Glock 22. Knocked the "

"I ordered this vest last week as part of a Halloween costume and to be used in general shenanigans. The short of it is that its awesome. Completely worth the money and much more comfortable than the vest I wore in Iraq for 12 months. Its lightweight and very easy to move in. I tried it on earlier and ended up falling asleep with it on on the couch....so definitely comfortable. It was a great fit for me and Im 6' even and 145 pounds, but I could tell it could adjust out much larger So dont let that scare you normal sized people off. I would definitely buy this again if I ever need another for a friend or whatever. Plus its a GREAT camo pattern...much better than ACU digital."

I'm 63 and it is short. This is definitely made for smaller frames but great quality nevertheless. I might get it for the Kevlar or save it for wife for SHTF situation."

"i got my vest in today to step up my armor game and use it in addition to my point blank vest by adding my kevlar to it as a carrier. i also dyed mine black. definitely heavy ballistic protection with my up grade but the standard as is kevlar was thin and what you would expect of a flak vest. with my black dye job it is now reminecent of Army of Two or Punisher Warzone. i might also by another just for the kevlar inserts. worthy purchase."

"I bought the CONDOR armor plate carrier which is a great buy. I put rifle plates in "stand alone" that will stop multiple 7.62x39 hits from an"ak-47". Anyways, if you go anywhere else soft panel armor is a couple hundred dollars. Being a marine, I'll tell you the truth about kevlar, even tho this is military surp, as long as the kevlar fibers haven't been damaged and they haven't been sitting around in real bright or hot rooms or climates, the kevlar panels will work,,,,should work like new..so I removed all the shoulder / neck panels and put it behind the harden plates around where my heart is, so it lessens the IMPACT or foot pounds of energy. In the front part of the vest I have 3 layers of protection, these kevlar incerts by themselves will stop 22 cal , 45 cal, and buck shotgun. 9mm and 40 I don't think so because of the velocity of the round. It's not heavy and worth every penny. Will be buying another one for my wife, for SHTF....."

"I received this item in October (it was a great Halloween prop with the Finnish gas mask and the East German helmet). It was part of my first order from CTD. This vest was brand new and in perfect condition. The only downside is that it seems a little faded, not much though; in terms of camouflage, it is perfectly usable. The Velcro was clean and nothing seemed worn or used. It is comfortable and lighter than I thought it would be. The Kevlar pads are held in by a zipper that keeps the pockets closed and Velcro on the inside. The Kevlar pads only have Velcro on one side while the vest has Velcro on both sides inside the pocket (this is in reference to the main chest pockets). So, not only is there room for more Kevlar, the vest is designed for more! From my searches online I have found that CTD does indeed have the best price for this item. I have also found information that the Kevlar in this vest is level II a. This is a great buy, especially when you consider the price of empty armor carriers. I highly recommend this vest."

"Got the vest today after waiting for a FedEx SNAFU.This vest is an economic way to get a basic level of ballistic protection. It can be upgraded if you look around, with either more kevlar, perhaps trauma panels rated at III-A, or some light weight ceramic rifle plates - I dont know about steel plates. As another owner mentioned, the velcro inside the vest can be used to stick more armor in place, you can just get stick-on velcro kits from a craft store or something for your upgrade panels. So for 50 bucks you get basically level II-A ballistic protection on your torso, your sides, your upper shoulders, your neck-and if you want, you can upgrade it.Great job CTD....now stop using FedEx!"

"I don't want to say good things about this vest, because I don't want everybody to buy them out!!! But, these are pretty cool. They are very slick looking, but don't expect to use this as a bulletproof vest!!! The kevlar inserts are the THINNEST I've ever seen. I have an IIa vest, and it's about half as thick. It would work great to supplement another vest though, and maybe add another lightweight layer of Kevlar armor. I think people on EBAY are buying these here, and then trying to sell them for $175... NOT WORTH IT... But this is a deal for at this price. I plan on wearing this in style when the ZOMBIES come."

BDHP @ 1010fps40SW 180gr BDHP @ 1100fps9mm+P 147gr BDHP @ 1135fpsYour results may be slightly different, but I hit two different vests marked "1988" with these loads and they held. "I received my vest about a week ago. The vest arrived with two small stitch patches on the front and slightly faded overall. The vest is in good condition. The date on the inside of the vest is 1995 however the dates on the inner panels are 1988. The size of the vest is G.L Im guessing this means large. Im 6'3" 220 with a 44" chest and the vest fits ok but is about 1- 2" short so I had to order a XL from a different site for more $$ than C.T.D. I might have gotten lucky but the XL looks brand new and fits a lot better. If you are taller than 6'3" you might want to try to find a XXL if they make them as the XL is about 1" longer than the G.L .Fortunately the G.L. does fit my small framed girlfriend. This vest might not be bulletproof but it beats a t- shirt and it is light. I suggest not to get shot in the first place, any armor can fail."

I'm ordering a second one, maybe it will be in better condition and I can double up the kevlar."

"Vest shipped out quickly, and is in better shape than I thought it would be..only very slightly faded, no wear and tear marks either inside or out except for the metal buckles and the snaps for the shoulders having the paint worn off. It did of course have a healthy dose of that "dirty surplus stank" but a trip thru the wash on the gentle cycle (minus aramid panels, of course) took care of the stank and grime and the camo stands out like (nearly) new...I don't give 2 squirts about stopping paintbals/airsoft... I got some Kevlar panels from an old vest off of an auction site to supplement the protective capabilities front and back, also adding plates between these layers for hi-velocity rounds...That should do nicely...Braid some para cord thru the buckles on the front/back and you can attach a couple of small MOLLE pouches there...Add an chest Emblem featuring skulls, snakes, daggers, you fill in the blank and...Poof! All of a sudden Im a darn Space Marine.... Buy this vest, seriously."

"I picked up one of these for three reasons. First the price, you cant beat the price, even if it is only minimal ballistic protection. Second I am a huge fan of Flecktarn camo, it is perfect for the Woodlands of Central Florida and pretty inexpensive. And third, the zippered compartments allow for the insersition of additional protection. I put in a expired IIIA Vest in the front, and back panels. Now I have a super tough package I can slap on if, God forbid, I get an unwanted night-time visitor. Grab these while you can!"

"id say this is at least in 90% condition. its used, but just barely. there were 2 small rips in the front fabric, that look to be professionally repaired. both the carrier and panels are dated 1996. there is a musty smell from storage, but so what? the camo isn't even faded in the least. the pic shown is quite faded....mine is dark and clear. it fit very well, and wasn't really that heavy. i could imagine wearing this for some time, it was surprisingly comfortable.i bought this just for the Kevlar panels, to put into the MOLLE-732 plate carrier. if you want to do the same, id suggest buying 2 of these, as the REAR panels for this vest fit better into the 732 and other molle carriers. the front i had to fold up to fit, as its much bigger. the collar and shoulder panels i folded and fit into the side pockets of the molle-732. no its not perfect, but for the price, and further customization, this vest is a great start for a SHTF or zombie defense rig."

"This vest is absolutely amazing, it's 99 percent new. There is one tiny hole near the bottom of the vest, not even large enough to fit a .22 in. I must have bought the last one or close to it, a couple hours later it was out of stock, I'm glad I decided to buy this, and if this comes back in stock, I'm buying 2 more. One for my friend and one to double up the protection with the one I just purchased. This was my first purchase from CTD, they have a new loyal customer, THANKS!"

"A great value for the money. I got one, then bought 3 more after seeing how nice they are. I have one doubled up for SHTF or whatever. I took the shoulder and neck inserts out of one for testing. Shot it with .45 ball ammo at 10 feet, and it did not even penetrate one layer of the 13 layers. Also tried Federal expanding metal jacket +P with the same results. AK and AR went right through doubled up with 26 layers with no problem, so forget about it for anything but pistol rounds. Your results may vary."

"What a buy, mine came in two days, brand spanking new issue 1996, way more comfortable than issue by far, won't stop a penetrator, but for frags etc. will work great, plus it is long enough, top to bottom, most I had were to short."

"A great vest! I messed up on my order and got 2only needed it for a Halloween costume, so I have one I took the plates out of, and use with my flektarn camo's when playing airsoft and another for the 'bite vest' in my zombie hunter rig. I would truck the kevlar because almost all are out of date, and were only made for flak. We tested it and will stop zombie bites ;-). Kevlar shoulder and flip up collar are cool, just wish I could get the add on crotch pad for playing airsoft."

"Ordered two vests. The picture matches what I got for both vests. Slightly worn, slightly faded. One vest had a sewn repair to the elastic that runs through the shoulder. All panels look very good but neither vest had matching panel dates throughout. Dates ranged from 1987-1994. One shoulder panel had a 1 inch seam split. The only other thing of note was one vest was a size larger than the other with front and back panels towards the bottom wider by about an inch on either side. All other panels were the same size. Two vest shipped @ 15 lbs. I really like the way the vest was designed and I got what I paid for. Going to buy a couple more I think."

"Got my vest today - lucky because as I write this it says they are out-of-stock! It looks like brand new! Date says 1988 so if it has been worn it was only to try it on. It's supposed to fit up to 46" chests but mine fits a bit snug (that's why only 4 bullets) - although there is still ajustment so I guess it's okay. Now to get my plates to make it Zombie/SHTF-proof!"

"I just got this flak jacket. It's in really good shape. It's used and was made in 1994. It had some musty odor and some worn spots and tiny holes which does not bother me. This vest is really nice since it doesn't weigh much and is not restrictive of movement. I like how the collars and shoulders are armored as well. I'm 5'10 and 165 lbs and this thing is a little big for me but it fits quite nicely overall. This thing is a bargain at this price. I highly recommend this vest."

"I bought two to make one vest with doubled up armor. Both are in fine shape. Both carriers were made in 1995, one is faded slightly and has a few well done repairs to the carrier, the other looks pristine and completely unissued. One vest had all panels made in 1995 and the other had mostly 1995 with one panel made in 1988. All of the armor panels were in great shape, no tears or fading. Its very easy to double up the armor if thats what you plan to do. Definitely worth the price paid!"

"I recently purchased a bunch of these flak vests. Most of them were made in 1988, were well repaired, and were in decent shape. However, some of them were made in 1987, were poorly repaired, and were in rough shape. All of them were quite musty and needed to be dissassembled and washed. If I were in the market for vintage flak vests with real wear and authentic smell, I would probably buy more of these."

"This thing is amazing! I just received it today and am impressed. There were no holes in it whatsoever and the color was great looking! The vest is light and fits great! I'm 5' 11" and 152 lbs and all the Velcro fits snug and where it should. I took it outside to to do a ballistic test on it and it stopped my 1000 fps pellet gun using very pointed pellets and it went throuh the kevlars holder but not one layer of Kevlar though one of he Kevlar strands was wrapped around the pellet it still stopped it just fine. It even had the kevlars weaving imprints on it! Definitely worth the buy! I will double this thing up to make it really bullet resistant!"

The other one is brand spanking new, looked like it had just been in storage forever, it needs to be stretches out a little, or maybe just worn a few times. Thanks again, CTD!"

"Bought two and doubled up the Kevlar in the newest vest. One was from 1995 and the other was from 1988. Both were in fantastic condition but I decided that 1 vest with double the ballistic material is better than 2 light weight flack jackets. I realize that these vests stop only a handful of bullets, but for the price I am going to buy 2 more and do a ballistics test on here with a doubled up vest (no one has reported these tests yet to my surprise!) I am hoping that the 9mm FMJ will be stopped with double the Kevlar (26 layers?) From what I have read no one so far has taken a fully doubled up vest and tried out the ballistic qualities of it. I have a feeling it will stop 99% of handgun rounds. Of course we all have assault rifles so the vest is useless if SHTF, but it would do well defending against 99% of the population's guns they own. Just keep away from the .338 and 7.62 NATO rounds ;) I would not add ballistic plates to this rig, it seems to only support soft body armor. If you want plates that stop 7.62 and 5.56 you had better look elsewhere for armor. Expect to pay $750+ for that luxury though!"

"I just bought two of these and CTD came through again! I received one marked "GL" and one marked "XK." I was worried about fit because my chest is right at 46". Fortunately, the XK model is slightly larger than the GL. I easily transferred the panels from the GL carrier to the XK carrier and the entire rig now weighs around 11.2 lbs. (One carrier and two sets of aramid inserts) Both carriers and panels were manufactured in 1995 or 1996. Everything appears in excellent condition. One carrier had a soldier's name (Dittrich) written on the inside, but other than that they are in perfect condition--no tears, smell, wear, or otherwise. This is truly an excellent product."

"I ordered 5 of these vests; 3 of the 5 were 1996 and in great shape, id say even better then grade 2 surplus. 1 was from 1988 and was grade 2 with sweat stains and some smell. The last one was from 1987 and was grade 2.5 at best more like 3. One layer can stop ricochet and shrapnel. I suspect 2 layers will stop most handgun rounds and any ricochet. I doubled up the ballistic pads(both 1996) in the nicer carrier. The velcro strips on both sides makes the chest and back pads stay in place quite well."

"Let me start by saying that I own several top quality vests & plate carriers, however I was looking for a cheap option vest for friends & family in case of a SHTF situation. That's exactly what these vests are! .... and made with German quality. After reading all of the reviews on the German Flectarn Flak vest, as well as researching the vest on the web, I found that CTD has by far the best price! I purchased several of these vests & planned to double the ballistic panels and have an extra outside carrier for each vest. This is a great idea that many here have suggested. Another good option is the layered system of wearing a light concealable vest under this one for a combination of greater protection with better body coverage than what a concealable vest can offer. The vests arrived quickly via UPS. Some were placed flat in the box, while others were scrunched up in tight plastic bags :( The vests smelled of mildew. The panels are easily removed from the carrier via velcro tabs. I washed the covers and wiped down the panels and dried them quickly. None of the panels appeared to be damaged by abuse and showed no sign of being washed. Although it is true that "one size fits all", including me at 6ft, 220, my son 601, 245, and my 504, 46 D girlfriend, the panels come in different sizes from what appears to be medium large to XL. They all seem to be interchangeable. The outer camo carriers are not brand new, but are very serviceable with good velcro. German Flectarn is a great camo for the U.S. Folks, this is one lightweight, comfortable & flexible vest with good coverage over standard areas including the chest, lower torso & back below the belt line, neck, throat & upper deltoids. Much more comfortable and lighter weight than the U.S. or Canadian flak vests, but probably less effective at stopping pistol rounds, due to the back face impact that will occur on a thinner flexible vest, compared to the thicker stiffer military flak vests, all of which are fa..."

"I purchased 3 of these vests. They all arrived rolled up in plastic bags inside of decent size box. All but one did not seem to be affected by this. The one that seemed to be, had the neck/collar pads bunched up in a funny way that had them all twisted up looking. I removed them and put them back in. They straightened out and laid down fine. Removing plates throughout the vest is fairly easy, but putting them back in can be a bit of a challenge. 2 came looking fairly new and had dark colored flecktarn camo while one was faded and showed heavy use. The repairs to it seem to be done well with multiple stitching. None of the vests I received had the velcro or hook and loop section on the left shoulder....I could always attempt to add them, but it would be nice for securing various pouches or patches, etc. Most of my plates/pads were made in 88 or 87 and one front plate was made in 1995. Two vests are 88 and one is 87. For the price, not sure you can beat these vests anywhere else."

"Just got another one of these. I must say, it looks BRAND NEW. Hardly any musty smell, and only one very small hole that again looks professionally patched. The color is SO DEEP, it doesn't look like its ever seen the sun. You'd swear this was never worn. Dated 1995. It's almost a shame to cannibalize it for the kevlar panels. This one seems to be a bigger size than the others I bought, as I'm almost swimming in it. Not that it matters, but just pointing out. The panels are coming out and will be stuffed in my plate carrier, also from CTD. They'll be doubled up on the kevlar, which still isn't top of the line, buts it's a damn sight better than nothing."

"This vest looks brand new, the camo is a deep nice color. There are no holes or any wear signs on the vest. All the Kevlar inserts are dated 1996 and all seem to be original matching inserts. Shipping was kinda slow but I picked the 3-5, I can't complain it came as scheduled on the 5th business day. I couldn't be happier with the vest, it looks better than I thought it would. "A buddy of mine and I both bought a vest. My buddy got his first. It was small on me but fit him perfect. I was sceptical about mine if it would be to small, I got it and it fits me perfectly. I know it was damn good luck it happened that way. Anyhow it's a darn good buy. If you have the 2nd era pistol belt/ harness it sets right into the shoulder pads. It has no armor value at all but it looks cool as heck if you have flektar shirt and pants as well. I recomend it to any SHTF people."

"I bought this for fun and that is what it really is for. It has no practical storage for any really application(its German so there is no Molle). Mine was in fine condition although it smells like a musty basement. I shot it with my .45 from about 5 paces and although I found the bullet inside the outer shell it was against a tree not flesh and I would venture to guess you would still be severely damaged internally if you were to be hit. This thing is best for paintball or Halloween costumes."

Just remember this is like the US PASGT Vests the Army used to have before the IBA took over. It's mostly for Fragmentation but will help and stop some Bullets. "Ordered two. One was clearly good used surplus, just as described: no visible damage, all snaps and straps and Velcro intact, plates felt all in the right places, but visible fading (added authenticity bonus: empty crumpled hard pack of Pall Malls, complete with German Surgeon General warnings, in the front pocket). The other was brand-new, never used (no fading, Velcro had never been opened, factory sizing still in the fabric). They were both snug - I'm 6'/250ish, 46" chest - but fit when the Velcro side panels were relieved. Yeah, they smell like slightly musty milsurp. Who cares? Where else can you get either a brand new or perfect used flak jacket with light armor panels for under $40? If you expect more, you're being a princess - knock it off."

It has an authentic aroma, and is easy to move in. Seems to have six panels - (similarly marked) each side of your neck, two shoulders, front and back. Certainly not up to stopping any rifle rounds, but on Z-day, if a zombie goes for my spleen, it'll have a bit of a tough time. :)"

"I just received my Flak vest today and it looked brand new out of the box. I smelled it because many of the reviews I read said they come with a funk, but mine had no smell. All of the Aramid inserts were dated 1995, and the shell was absolutely perfect and dated 1995. If I hadn't been told it was used, I would've never guessed. This vest fits perfectly and looks amazing. Fits right over the top of my police surplus type III-A Kevlar vest without any problems. This is a steal for the price. I am totally happy with this vest. "I bought this not knowing if I could actually fit into it or not, given that I am 6'2" 235 lbs. and have a 50" chest, figuring I could at least use the panels to beef up a NIJ Class II concealable vest I already own, even if the carrier didn't fit. Well, I was pleasantly surprised all the way around. The carrier did fit, albeit snugly. It can expand past a 46" chest by cheating the Velcro overlaps by about an inch each and still protect all vital areas. I think the 46" size allows enough slop to wear a couple layers of thicker BDU type clothes underneath, so if I wear just a thin layer, like a t-shirt or sweatshirt, it fits very well with all the Velcro aligned. Thicker layers will require me to cheat them a little, but still very wearable. The flack panels are comprehensive in terms of wrap around, high on the neck front and back, collar and deltoid protection. Much more so than my Level II Xtreme Armor concealable vest, so now I have a concealable vest and a SHTF flack jacket that should defeat most common handguns from penetration, even if there may still be blunt trauma from the impact that wouldn't pass a NIJ test for Level II or III. They feel no different than the flexible plates in my concealable vest, although the labels are in German, which I don't read or speak, and of course no NIJ label. I'm not planning on shooting it to conduct my own tests, sorry. The carrier itself was a little faded (-1 bullet), not badly at all, from age or maybe laundering a couple times, but did not smell or have any rips or tears. The Velcro fasteners appear unused, but there was a name inside the vest, so it must have been issued but not worn very often. The quality of the carrier is much better than my Xtreme Armor vest, with full zippered pouches for the armor plates that will keep them in the right place, good quality fabric, and Velcro attachments. At this price, you should consider one for every family member when stocking up your SHTF supplies!"

"Great Value! Appears to be briefly issued, but not really used. In excellent shape, maybe washed once or twice so the colors aren't vibrant, but no horrible smell, no rips, no holes, and very wearable right out of the box. I am 6'2" 240 with a 48+ chest and I can still use it. Its a little snugger than when they originally designed it, being an over-the-clothes vest as opposed to a concealed vest, but doesn't restrict my movement or breathing when wearing a regular layer, tshirt or sweatshirt underneath. It appears to be the same "weight" of panels as I have in my Class II conceal vest I bought used on ebay for twice the price and just mediocre condition."

"The description for this item is dead wrong, these vests are not used, they are NEW! I ordered two and I dont think they have ever been outside. All velcro is crisp, the camo is dark and rich. The vests have a slight smell from storage, but a hit of febreze took care of it instantly. I am 6' 2" 180 lbs and both vests fit very comfortably. One is a bit larger than the other. Very light, very comfortable. I shot one vest today with my 9mm at 15 feet with a clay backing. The vest stopped the first shot. The second shot to the same area went clean through. I would not bet my life on this vest, but it will be prefect for air soft. Don't bother buying just one, buy several, your friends will want one too."

"I just recieved my German Flak Vest in Flektarn camo and I am impressed. It is most certainly not an IBA with SAPI plates, but for the price it is fantastic! It fits right underneath my FLC without any bunching and doesn't limit my movement. It has about the same weight as my old issue IBA with the plates removed, and it appears to have enough room to add more Kevlar as well as a full set of plates. The fact that the vest offers some shoulder protection is very nice. The vest I received is in like new condition, no fading at all. At all of the gun shows I've gone to in the recent months sellers are charging in excess of $150+ for one small Kevlar vest, so this is well worth the price. If you're looking to get some Kevlar, or start up a kit, then I can't recommend this vest enough."

"My son asked for this for Christmas. It was exactly as described and looked just like the picture. My son is 6 feet, 240 pounds. It fit perfectly and is adjustable. It is heavy. Thank yoU!!"
