"At less than 4 bucks each for a set of steel Colombian-made machetes, this is another CTD deal! Nice assortment of Zed slayers, we at Zombtac.com gave this set 3 Zeds. We love this set! Arrived as pictured minus the black machete was a standard steel Latin-style machete. All made by Incolma."

"These machetes are almost exactly as pictured. The wood handles are very crude and uncomfortable, the plastic handles are comfortable. The two smaller blades are 0.07 inches thick, the other three are 0.09 thick. The longest blade is 24 inches, the shortest is 18 inches. No sheaths, no edge whatsoever. I have not used them yet; maybe one of them is a diamond in the rough, but I wish I had spent the money on the OKC."

"Not bad for the price. Mine had some surface rust, but not too bad. I kept a couple for the house, one for the cabin, and the rest as gifts. Good value overall."

"Just a heads up, I bought two sets and each set had different styles of machetes in them, so I guess they just pick them out at random. That being said, they are still a good deal at the price."

"Didn't get the same machetes that are shown in the photo, but they are still great machetes. A small amount of rust and unsharpened areas, but no big deal. A great buy, and super fast shipping."

"Better than I expected for the price! A handle, or blade color, may be different from the picture. The two small ones are the same knife, the middle one is perfect (it's my fav), and the two big ones are like swords! They come with a dull, basic edge. I got myself a sharpener from CTD for these after I received them, and that was all they needed. Well worth getting."

"Very pleased with the order. Blades were not sharp, as mentioned earlier, but easily sharpened. 90% of the blades are thick so taking small trees down wont be a problem. Most of mine were Columbia or British Steel. All random, so dont expect to get the ones pictured.... that was the only reason I gave 4 out of 5. Shipping was fast as usual. Keep up the good work CTD!"

"I found this to be an awesome deal. For this price, what's there to complain about? You'll need to clean up some manufacturing residue, but an overall great deal."

"These machetes came and they are different sizes, but all have the same wooden colored handles and the same colored blades. They are dull as all get out, just need to be sharpened and they handle the job nicely! The only thing that was deceiving was the color."

"If you see the picture for this, you'll notice the top two machetes. That's what I got for all five, with slightly different tips. Not a disappointment, but more of a surprise that they were all so heavy duty. These are in great shape and I'm glad they were not sharpened so I can do it myself the way I want to. Handles are in great shape but a little slick feeling. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. Am I happy? You bet. For the price, it's a great deal. Not a cheap one in the bunch."

"Different styles of blade, handles are identical. A couple of them are just enormous. My wife laughed when I hauled out the longest, saying that I am now ready for The Walking Dead. All need sharpening, but that won't be a problem. These are a great value. No regrets."

"Bummer. I received only the wooden handled versions, which look like they were whittled by hand by little kids in a Mexican sweat shop. I was really only interested in the plastic/composite handled machetes and would have gladly paid the same price for two as I would have for five. So, just a tad disappointed, unfortunately."

"I am very, very disappointed that I only got the wooden handle ones. In the picture, the top two are the ones I got, totaling five. Three machetes were the second one that has a \"A\" like tip but with different length and some different engraving, but all done by the same place. The last two were the first one in the picture - one looked like a chopping blade, and another with a curvy edge. A couple had different engravings to make it seem like they were made from different places, but they are all definitely from the same place. It seems like other people are getting the same blades also, which is pretty disappointing. BUT the machetes came sharpened, and one machete was cut into and stuck into the handle of a machete (I guess from shipping)."

"Great deal! Two blades were the same with different handles. Other three were all different. For $4 a machete... Can't really complain at all. Gave a couple as gifts and about to order another shipment. If you're thinking of buying, why not? For the price of a pizza cutter you get 5 blades."

"So I saw these and thought they would be a good deal but when I received them only one looked like the picture. The picture also showed American flags but mine were made in Columbia and one was made out of British steel but didn't say were it was made. Price is cheap but shipping brings the price up by like 14 dollars. Hope this helps."

"These are in fact, real machetes. They're not cheap Chinese knockoffs like you find in a bargain bin at the local hardware store. I didn't get the exact machete I wanted, the one pictured on top with the big curved, blade. I did however get 5 machetes for a very reasonable price."

"This is the first time I've been so disgusted with a CTD product. I can't believe they bothered to advertise such crap. I'm a real knife person, and the majority were very cheap, no edge whatsoever just an unfinished thick blunt edge. Not a bargain, but something to just get rid of."

"Don't listen to anyone who gave it a bad review they were expecting a master crafted machete for two bucks. Got 15 of them in the mail today to give away as Xmas gifts and am more than satisfied. Its a more mild steel so it will keep an edge way heterodox than that stainless steel crap you get at the hardware store. They did good with this product"

"just received 2 sets today . And got mixed sets some with plastic Handles . Very well made and good Steel not the \"cheap China\" STUFF . Plan on giving several for Christmas Presents . Great to throw in Truck or boat for extra . Needs to be sharpened but that should be done by the person that is going to use it ."

"I read all the reviews and I was not sure of what to expect. Unlike the other reviews I received five different machetes. All those in the picture with the exception of the top machete in the photo. Instead I received a cane machete in its place. The Three wood handles and decent. All five came with a rough edge maybe 35 degrees about right for chopping heavy brush. All said I will probably buy another set. Great value for what I got"

"So cool when I got them. Every one was different, and all were top quality. I got 2 sets and all were different some with wooden handles and some with plastic. I got one that was shorter than the rest looks like some kind of sword. Truly one of the best items I have gotten from Cheaper Than Dirt but I was a little concerned when I read some of the reviews but found them to be untrue and these blades are the best, well made, great deal so get some before there all gone."

"I went to a hardware store to get a machete this past summer and they wanted almost $20 for it. I saw these in the magazine and bought them right away! I like every one of them. Those who say they are cheap made do not know their knifes and machetes!! These are high quality. I have put a couple of them through a test to find out just how good they are and they rip! Great Deal!"

"Not bad, all have a heavier gauge steel than I expected. The handles (3 wood and 2 plastic) seem well riveted to them and tight. Yes, they definitely need to be sharpened. Definitely worth it. If I ordered these by themselves, the shipping would have been more than the machetes themselves."

"I go fishing in a lot of wooded areas, and was looking for a cheap machete for brush management. Was disappointed that none were made in USA but they are all good quality and made in Columbia. Half of them were dull and unsharpened. Had to laugh when i opened the box because it os just a box of machetes Lol"

"I got a set of these machetes to give out to the young guys in my family for Christmas. I was happy with the quality and weight of the blades. They are nice and sturdy and the handles are great. The guys all where very happy and it made for some good laughs as presents. One thing though - the blades I received where not the same as the blades shown in the ad. The 2 with black handles where replaced by 2 with much bigger blades and wood handles."

"Very high quality! I would have liked them to be sharper, but since I'm retired I have time to do it myself. All the blades are well made and have good balance and heft to them. Two of the units I received I call spear point machetes, and I will sharpen them accordingly, in a pinch a good size pole could turn them into pikes, or lances. I am considering purchasing another set to sell."

"First, I did not receive exactly what was advertised. I did receive 5 machetes though. I got two 24\" latin machetes that are similar in design, but different models, two of the 21\" spear point machetes (my favorite) and one 19\" panga. All came completely unsharpened, but they were without any damage or rust. The machetes with wooden handles are very rough and will need to be sanded/filed down to not cause blisters.Overall, a solid purchase. I would recommend to a friend/buy again."

"i didnt get what was said to include, ending up getting two of the same blades. not sharp at all, youll need to put some time on a bench grinder to get a good edge on them. Other then that they feel pretty sturdy, they are perfect for a beater machette. oh yeah no sheaths kind of a bummer, i like to hike and camp so that would have been a plus. For the price what can you expect."

"You can't get 5 good working machetes for this price anywhere. All were south American work horses made of spring steel. I cut a 7 inch diameter hedge tree in half trying to mess up the blade and it didn't phase it. They do arrive needing sharpened though. Get yours today"

"So, I was recently building a fence, and the cheap machete I had owned for years, broke while battling a six inch thick root, underground. Not that I am not expecting anything other than brute hacking force from a machete, I am not even too concerned about sharp.Well, old soldier down, I go shopping. I find, A FIVE PACK! Shoot yes. This is perfect, I can gift one to each of the two friends who helped build the fence and mourned the loss of our trusty camping companion, but I would have extras. Extra machete? Yup. Good idea. They are, again, as many of my reviews say, what you pay for. An edge will be achieved, but none of them came with anything less than slab of metal honed to 1/16 inch of beveled metal that resembled an edge. Don't worry, we have ways of fixing this.....Also, there was no finish on the handles, (except the one that had a plastic handle, but then the castings weren't really cut off, so...nope no finish on the handles.)But I personally like the years of wear look and feel anyway, so, that is an even bust....All in all. REALLY? You got a FIVE pack of machetes and with a touch of work, the will do the trick I am asking of them... they have a metal spine all the way through the handle, which is made of wood or low but fair grade plastic, and they need some sharpening for even the most menial of tasks. It is kind of perfect. That is why the high rating. 5 machetes, 6 bucks each, after shipping, perfect groomsman gift for a thousand Alex."

"First let me say if you can not read and understand the description of an item before you buy it, you are un-informed. You get 5 machetes of varying lengths and styles. I ordered 2 groups and got 4 that were the same. No worries though as these were nice heavy duty machetes. Each 5 pack I got had an assortment of machetes that were variants of the styles that were pictured. They are not razor sharp or really even sharp beyond a bevel."

"I got my set of machete today in the mail and they look great but upon observing them more closely i noticed that all of them are extremely dull. Some even have offset blades that will be a pain to correct. I realize that I shouldn't expect a perfect set of machetes but these blades are just bad. Save yourself the trouble and just by them separately."

"I expected a \"disposable\" quality for the price I paid but that was okay - it was a disposable kind of job. To my pleasant surprise, the quality was great! Plus, if you have two boxes of machetes delivered to your home, it changes peoples' view of you in a whole new way. Having a great time and got a great deal!!"

"I bought these, sharpened them up, and handed them out at Christmas time to the five guys that I play Shadowrun with. I got 5 different blade styles in my order and it made the unwrapping of their gifts that much more exciting. All of the machetes had a legitimate look and feel and the price per blade (even with shipping costs) was inexpensive and was well worth giving such unique and memorable gifts."

"Bought these a while back. These are a great deal. Shipping is a little high, but for the weight of the 5, it makes sense. Around $7 a blade for these heavy duty machetes? Deal at twice the price. Need to sharpen them they come blunt as a club."

"$4 a blade is a great deal, so don't be a whiner. Sure, the shipping is pricey, but hey, you're getting 5 freaking machetes. I think I got about all the machetes shown in the picture, except all were wood handled but one, and that one had a mirrored metal on it that made it look like a toy. Also the dullest of the 5... My two favorites I refinished the wood handles with a dark stain and they look more classy and not as cheap now. The two larger ones are pretty hefty and are good for swinging. All of them are stamped with a Columbia Steel marking of some kind."

"The reason I tried this deal to begin with is because my family owns a large chunk of land that has 3 separate and full families always spending weekends and vacations down there with friends and family. We're always chopping firewood and exploring off-the-path areas. I read one review that said these weren't Chinese POS's and decided to give it a shot. In the title I said I personally bought 3, between family and friends that have come down and heard about this deal, I'm amazed they have any left. The selection they give you is a random assortment of what's near at hand, I guess; but it does seem like they try to give you varying degrees of long, medium, and short blades whenever possible. For $12 you can't really complain about anything you get when it's five items (I mean we're talking nearly the same amount of items off of a fast food value menu), but I literally have no complaints about these machetes. If you really want to make sure you get a couple cool ones that look like the blade you're eyeing in the picture: then buy two or three sets, I promise you will get the diversity and quality you bargained for. Thank you CTD! (they do come dull -really, really dull- so get the grinding wheel ready)"
