"Not sure if this is a new problem, or if it is an ongoing problem but I ordered a box of this and when it came in I was short 10 rounds. I am aware that most products are sold by weight. Other than that the ammo goes bang with no problems."

"What you see is what you get. OAL's all measure consistent. No magnetically attractive bullets. All Annealed brass. Weighed about 10 and consistency looks good. Primers all look sealed. Brass is in good shape. It was just a quick inspection of 20 or so random cartridges but this looks like standard M80 to me. I will update this rating if I find difficulty when I chamber a few. I am not inclined to count each round as these were bought in bulk. Weight counts will vary by a few rounds either way. If I wanted them counted, I would buy boxed not bulk."

"I purchased the 500 bulk round just for plinking. Clean ammo, gun accuracy for bulk ammo. I can get 1 1/2 inch groups at 200 yards in my DPMS SASS Mini with a Leupold Mark 4. Lots of fun. After zero with my Federal ammo (Sierra BTHP 168), I am only a few inches off."
– WV Law

"It's hard to beat this for the price. Quality Lake City brass and goes bang every time. Dependable and reliable. Only off 1-1.5 MOA from my handloads at 200 yards. Can't ask for more."

"Bought these for long term storage. I inspected them for quality and function before storing. It is LC brass marked \"LC 12\" w/NATO cross. Cases look very rough, none of the primers are sealed, and primer depth is inconsistent. I loaded up a 20 round magazine and went out back for a function test and had no problems and accuracy was OK. However, in my opinion, these are LC rejects or reloaded brass! I love CTD, but this was a big let down. This is good plinking ammo, but I would not recommend for long term storage or bet my life on it!!!"

"I have to say I am quite pleased with the Lake City M80 ammo I received, and even happier with CTD. The Lake City ammo I received was not going to win any beauty contests by any means but was in no worse shape than any other ammo I\uFFFDve seen or used recently. Every round chambered and went bang in my AR-10 without issue, providing groupings much better than I was getting with other ammo. Another order is on its way; will update when received to see if I encounter any issues."

"My box arrived and everything looks fine. Everyone seems to say that they do not bother counting the bulk ammunition, so I figured that I would do it. My box had 505 rounds. I can't complain about an extra 1%!"

"Great price. Shoots minute groups in my Scout Squad M1A with zero malfunctions so far in the hundred or so rounds I've shot."

"I took my M1A to the range and tried the Lake City M80, Federal .308 150 gr. and some Mag Tech/CBC NATO-spec ammo. The Lake City printed 1 MOA while the others - even the Federal (go figure!) - didn't do as well. This was at both 100 and 200 yards with iron sights. I'm sold!"

"casing marked Lake City, NATO cross, 2013 production. Was surprised and disappointed that a magnet sticks to the bullet (not shell). Can't shoot these in my local range. Would have been nice to know this before purchasing!!"

"This ammo is excellent. I was most positively surprised. Ordered another 500. Looks somewhat disheveled on the outside, not exactly polished and clean, but it is shockingly accurate for a military ammo (I got MOA and sub-MOA results through Remington PSS). This ammo is not your mild 308 Win loads, but a solid 7.62 NATO M80 and is hot!!! Average speeds 2830 fps. through 24 in barrel and they also keep up well through the M14 22 in barrel. In a shorter barreled G3 like rifle the velocity is lower like 2650 fps. This ammo is so good that I decided to write a review\uFFFD All velocities were measured through Oehler M35 chronograph and were based on 10 rds groups."

"I ran 50 through my JAE 100 M1A to 400Y great, 600Y made it work. My Federal 308B seemed truer, but no complaints....because I'm shootin 308 again without a hole in may wallet!"

"Didn't expect much at this price, especially when I shook the cartridges and some sounded partially filled and others sounded like the powder inside had clumped. But 100 rounds shot well - no FTF or FTE, and consistently very good groups in line with my ability."
– Starduster

"Head stamped LC-13. Good condition. No corrosion. 501 rounds, obviously the box is filled by weight. Price was right for 2013 ammo prices. Thank you CTD. My M1A will love this!"

"I bought these because they cost less than I could reload and I would have the brass. Arrived in 2 days. They were bright and shiny. Finally got to the range yesterday with my PTR 91 and shot 100 rounds. Never a failure to feed or eject. I have a 7X40 Nikon on the rifle and Most five round groups were less than 1\" at 100yds. Some were in one ragged hole. None over 1.5 inches. My only complaint is that they are very dirty. I pulled a bullet and cut it in half because it is attracted to a magnet. Not steel core just lead. Also not loaded with black powder. LOL. Just very dirty. Eight hours in the vibrater cleaner took care of that. Going to try them in my M1 Garand Navy 7.62 NATO next. I am buying more."

"Feeds well in my M1A and good groups. No jams or issues. Value for the price is awesome. Just wish they'd warned me it attracts a magnet. I'd assumed it didn't. I would have still bought it but then I'd have know to bring a clean round the first time I went to my range with that ammo. This is a definite buy. Kudos for accurate pics of the ammo, that looks like what I have. I shoot a lot of surplus, pretty doesn't always mean accurate."

"Fast shipping, good ammo for the range, I've fired around 200 rounds so far and am very happy. From a bench rest at 200 yards I can keep a 3\" group with my FAL, that's good enough for me! With todays ammo prices this is an outstanding deal and I will be ordering another case soon!"

Was able to get a really good group, too! Hope this review helps lay any doubts to rest. You can buy these bullets with confidence and I'm pretty darn sure you will not be disappointed!"

"This ammo won't win you any long range competitions, but it is very good military grade 7.62 NATO at a highly competitive price. Great target and plinking ammo for rifles spec'd to shoot 7.62 like the FAL, M1A and even the Ishapour 2A. Buy it."

"I couldn't find good .308 ammo anywhere else at this price.Ammo arrived on schedule inside a plastic bag which was inside of a sturdy box. It should run well through my M1 as I have fired much grungier looking ammo through it in the past with no problems. More solid ammo from CTD which doesn't surprise.I'll comment more after firing some rounds. But for now it give it 4 bullets on appearance."

"Received the ammo in good time (several days) despite the recent ice storm. Counted out 502 rounds which, honestly, didn't matter that much to me either way for a few rounds. All rounds are as advertised with NATO cross etc. I break my ammo down into 50 round lots and add desiccant then package. After sorting and counting I realized just how dirty my lot was. I cleaned off a few rounds to compare to the others and it was a noticeable difference both visually and texturally. So, I sat down with an old tshirt and cleaned them all. Not normally so anal but they were pretty dirty. On a scale of 1-10, I would say they were a 4 or 5 as there was a lot of production residue. I have fired worse and all of the 12 test rounds cycled through my M1A. I took off a star and gave it 4 as it may be the dirtiest ammo I have ever bought, even my reloads are cleaner. In fairness though, it is bulk ammo and you have to expect that. I am ok with that trade off for NATO ammo and thought the deal was fair and the ammo was as advertised."

"I fired 400 rounds through my M14 (Fed Ord) at an Appleseed KD course, (100,200,300,400) last weekend and the ammo held accuracy at all ranges using standard ballistic reticle changes. No malfunctions. In this day and age the price is right."

"Ordered this ammo on a Thursday and had it on my doorstep Monday. After reading several other reviews I was expecting to have to clean the majority of these rounds but when I got them they were spotless. Counted 505 in the box. And after cycling about 100 I have not had any misfires and my ar10 loves eating this up. Great brass for reloading. I can't praise this enough. All 505 are lake city rounds"

"Received the 500 round box in quick fashion. After reading some of the other reviews, I'd decided to wipe the ammo down before putting in the ammo box. I didn't find the ammo as dirty as some of the other reviewers, but I still had a dirty rag when finished. By my count, my box contained 501 rounds. Over all, I was pleased and will order this again. I gave \"4\" bullets simply because I have not been to the range yet."

"Great price on plinking ammo. Ran 200 rds through a SCAR 17 with no failures. Other reviews have stated that this ammo was filthy to the point they needed to clean it before use. My box was not that way at all. Did not get a chance to see how accurate it was but did not appear significantly off. Will definitely be using this stuff again!"

"Bought 2000 rnds, have put several hundred through my new SCAR 17S w/ ACOG scope and I couldn't ask for better. On the money accuracy and not the first feed, fire or eject problem. The only \"but\" I have though is that I was short several rnds from each lot of 500. Consequently, I came out short about 17 rnds, almost a full, $20 box of missing ammo. Haven't called CTD. after all, they don't re-package it so it's not their fault."

"I always use Lake City bulk ammo as it always goes bang and is non-corrosive. I have some ammo from 1994 that still fires everytime. My Rem 700 and Ruger .308s love this stuff even though the Rem is 1/10 twist which would normally like the 168 grain better. I buy all my ammo from CTD in bulk and it always arrives within 4 days. Great ammo and great company!!!"

"This ammo is what it is. Cheap. Will not function properly in my LWRC. Had several failures to feed and eject. Rifle functions flawlessly with other ammo. I didn't buy it for functionality though, just figured being nato mill spec it would function a little better. Next time I will buy a little less ammo of better quality."

"I ordered expecting LAKE CITY, and when it arrived, the box is labelled AMERICAN EAGLE. No where does it state Lake City. I realize Federal ammunition should all have the same quality, but I expect what I order. I shoot enough that I will use this fairly soon. I will be sure to specify that what I order is what is shipped."

"All as advertised LC-13 with steel core 149gr. Some of reviews stated that's not what they received, not so in this case. They were a little on the dirty side but not bad, wiped them anyway ended up somewhat of a polish job. My end count was 504."

"After 7 days, my box arrived at my place in Georgia from the warehouse in DFW, Texas. I counted 485, then carefully re-counted 505. They are all \"LC 13\" stamped with the NATO cross. I see a lot of reviewers talking about how \"dirty\" their rounds were. I don't know about \"dirt\" or any other type of residue, but my rounds were clean, bright, with tarnish spots all over the cases from being loosely packed. I have shot similarly spotted 1982-era Portuguese NATO 7.62 out of my M1A with no problems, and I suspect these spots on the LC 13 brass will be just as benign. No need to polish or tumble this ammo. At 67 cents a round (with shipping), I think it's a good deal even with the spots. Can't wait to shoot it!"

"Give only 4 bullets as I have not shot any yet. I have read some comments as to how dirty the cartridges look, hey, they're military ammo, they are in the same condition as the 5.56mm ones I was given at the ranges when I was in the military. I will order more as CTD ships fast! I order this lot on Monday and Tuesday afternoon my wife called and said this small heavy box came in. If you all looking for shiny cartridges to buy, don't buy mil-spec! Let you know how it performs with a SIG 716."

"Can't complain, it goes bang every time so far. Not match grade, but at this price, it will do. Seems to be accurate enough and not all that dirty. I have purchased several boxes of this from CTD and other sites and it always seems to be the same in quality and in function. Lake City 7.62/.308 is not supposed to be polished and pretty, just reliable military ammo. So far, this stuff has never let me down. I will always buy this ammo when available for a good price. I give it 5 stars for price and performance."

"First the bad.I was one bullet short.Moving on!The box was marked Federal. The bottom of the cartridge is LC = Lake City.Year of manufacture = 2013. I sorted the ammo into 50 round bags. I did not notice any problem with it being dirty, actually quite clean for bulk ammo.I have shot a lot of 30-06 Lake City in the past.My expectations will be high for this also. From my previous purchases from CTD I don't think I'll be disappointed.Thank you CTD for making this available!I will review again after the trip to the range."

"I shot a mag. of this out of my Cetme and I had some malfunctions. I don't know right now if its the dirty ammo, or my Cetme. I suspect my Cetme. I counted out only 495 rounds instead of 500. Not a big deal but it still adds to my distrust of buisness's that seem to be out to give us \"The Buisness\"."

"Has just bought a Sig 716 and needed something to shoot it with... This was my first experience with Cheaper and it was all good. Prompt shipping, good packaging, and the ammo was exactly as described. This stuff is bulk and is a somewhat dirty - if my rifle wont fire dirty ammo I don't want it (the rifle) - it cycles this stuff fine. The brass cleans up really nice for its second life soon as I get dies for 308 too! I had considered some of the cheaper Russian stuff but this was the ticket for me. Decent and fair deal here."

"I was pleased to receive clean and bright, fresh 2013 manufacture rounds. Didn't bother counting them, but they functioned flawlessly and group exactly the same as my comparable hand loads, Honady 150 gr FMJBTs (44.0/4064). With some additional patience I believe I'll be able to tighten the group a bit more out of my 1:12 FNAR semi-auto (4x Vortex scope). I would describe these rounds as \"combat accurate\", as they grouped just over 2\" (10 shots). If I need super-accuracy I can go to one of my pet hand loads\uFFFD I wanted these for complete reliability at a fair price and that's what I appear to have received. I am a satisfied customer and recommend this ammo."
– AZLongRanger

"Well the ammo came out of the box a bit dirty, and after loading 200 rounds into mags my hands were in need of serious washing. I would recommend using gloves if loading large amounts of this ammo. I have also since shot the said 200 rounds, and had only 1 round with FTF. The primer appears to be a dud. It got a good hammer strike, but no boom. I would consider it quite out of the norm. The ammo is fairly accurate for range ammo, and is consistent with other ammo that I have tried with brass cases. It is NOT match ammo, so I do not expect sub-MOA at 500m, but it held a group of less than 2.5\" at 200m from a benchrest. I would recommend it for good range ammo, and it is fully reloadable to boot."

"500 rounds of lake city 2013 ammo, very magnetic (not allowed at some ranges), NATO head stamp. This is the stuff the manual for my M1A says to use, MIL spec 7.62. Dirty? Normal bulk ammo. Want pretty shiny match ammo pay $1.00-$1.50 a round. Same stuff I have been shooting for over 30 years, just newer. I have some name brand 308 hunting ammo laying here, as far as clean, not a big difference except 60 cents a round and a soft point."

"Ordered Tuesday night and received it Thursday afternoon, even with standard shipping. Feeds great in my Ruger SR762, no jams or misfires and put holes right where I was pointing. There was some excess lubricant on the cases from the loading process, but if I have to spend a minute cleaning up the brass before shooting these 508 rounds I think I can handle it for the price."

"I bought one 500 round box and was very impressed with the performance. Great range ammo and it works very well in my Springfield M1A. I was so impressed that I bought another 500 rounds. My two boxes of ammo was NOT dirty, it looks just like military ammo with a darker annealed case shoulder. Save your target ammo for a match and practice with this stuff, it is that good."

"Normally I shoot and compete with my own loads. An up coming Apple Seed put me in the market for some good ammo at a good price. The M80 at CTD could not be beat. The ammo was ordered on the 7th of Oct. and arrived on the 9th. The ammo was clean and was easily repackaged with a total of 502. Pulled out the M1A and function tested at 200yds. Not a single issue from the first 50 and grouping was quite acceptable for both silhouette torso and head shots. I think it will do fine for an Apple Seed shoot. Will recommend this ammo to all."

"Do not hesitate to buy this ammo. It fires well thru all of my AR 10's (DPMS patterns and Armalite)and the M1A. The only problem was with my new Armalite AR 10. Ammo did not want to cycle. This may be due to rifle needs to be broke in. Otherwise would recommend the ammo. Also cases reload good as well."

"Received the ammo in good time (several days) despite the recent inclement weather. Counted out 498 rounds which, I have to admit I was disappointed they were short rounds. All rounds are as advertised with NATO markings. I package my ammo in 50 round lots. After sorting and counting I was surprised how clean my lot was compared to other reviews I had read. On a scale of 1-10, I would say they were a 5 as there was almost no production residue. I gave this lot 5 bullets because it was a very high standard lo of ammo. When you factor in it is bulk ammo it exceeded my expectations and it is NATO ammo and thought the deal was fair and the ammo was as advertised."

"Purchased this ammunition for target practice with a semi-auto. Wish I would not have. It may be fine for bolt action, but this ammo ran horribly through magazines. Had at least one jam in about 75% of mags. Mags which have had no trouble with other types of ammunition."

"I was pleasantly surprised when my two boxes (1000rds) arrived recently. I was hesitant to re-order these as my first batch a few years ago arrived really dirty, some so much a wire brush needed to be applied to get the crud off, plus I was twenty rounds short. Judging from other comments at the time, I wasn't the only one disappointed. This new batch was clean and shiny, and there were extra rounds to boot! So whatever problems there were in the past seem to have been resolved."

"Took this stuff to the range with my M1A, and it shot great. Sub moa groupings, couldn't be happier with the product. American made, accurate, and reliable at an affordable price. What more can you ask for."
