"I really love this forend. It did not require any sort of gunsmithing. If you just search how to disassemble a Mossberg 500, then you'll be fine. Or buy the forend removal tool and all you do is remove the barrel and the forend is ready to be removed. Certain 500s might be different, but a tactical one or one with a castle nut will work."

"The cost wasn't bad, it arrived right on time (thanks for that), easy install. When installing just be careful not to mess up the threads on that ring that screws on the forearm tube. Handle with care and patience. You don't need a gun smith to install."

"Let me start by saying that I am a newbie when it comes to shotguns but in my opinion this forend could fit better. I installed on a Mossberg 590. The forend is obviously cut with a contour to mimic the barrel so that it will fit but the clearance is much looser than the stock forend. Once installed, the piece will twist/jiggle slightly due to the relaxed fitment. As a result, it doesn't feel as solid as I would like; in fact it is noticeably different compared to the original. It's a relatively small issue (for now) that I cannot give a final verdict on until I take a trip to the range. If it interferes too much with the functionality of the weapon I will remove it."
