More than 2,600 years ago the city of Longquan was known as the "City of Treasured Swords" for their precision hand forged swords. No edged weapon in history has ever been surrounded with such mystique and tradition like the Japanese sword. As the "Soul of the Samurai" these swords are forged in almost a religious like act to be the most prized gift a warrior could receive. Ryumon and Masahiro swords are hand forged by Master Craftsmen with years of experience from Longquan. These masters combine modern knowledge with traditional secrets to produce superior quality swords with enhanced durability, sharpness and exquisite craftsmanship.

The blades are hammered out, folded and hammered again, up to 12 times, to produce a blade that has a Rockwell Hardness of 57 on the edge and 45 on back of the blade. Creating a blend that holds an edge, resists chips and marks but is durable, flexible and does not rebound when struck. This hand forging process is extremely labor intensive requiring long hours of effort by a skilled craftsman. The quality of these swords is phenomenal in detail but limited in supply. You will cherish these swords as other warriors have for over 25 centuries. Razor Sharp!

"Mine just arrived today. Wow. I was not expecting a very nice wooden presentation case -- about the size of a wooden rifle box. The case could be finished better, but at this price, who's quibbling? The sword itself is amazing. A beautiful piece of work. The description is every bit true, and doesn't even convey the fine workmanship of this weapon. The blade features an attractive temper line. From a close examination with a magnifying glass, I believe it to be a genuine temper, not the bogus acid-etched sawtooth patterns you see on much cheaper steel. The tsuba (hand guard) and kashira (pommel cap) are some non-magnetic metal, possibly an aluminum alloy. The round tsuba features a gold painted warrior on the handle side, with gold painted kanji characters on the blade side. The menuki (hilt ornaments) are nearly covered by the black linen wrapping, and it's impossible to make out what they are. They are, however, set up for a right-handed grip, providing a slight swell under the fingers when held with the right hand closest to the tsuba. My blade has some very slight pitting about 8 inches forward of the tsuba. What I thought was much more significant flaws in the steel turned out to be drops of oil from the scabbard. My only complaint is the lack of polish on the boshi (point) -- it's a little rough and needs polishing. Snap this sword up before the price goes up. At this price, it's a huge bargain."
