Utilizing the same gas-action principle his grandfather invented, Bruce Browning designed the BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle). Thirty years later it is still the standard for semi-automatic centerfire hunting rifles. This BAR Safari features select walnut stock and forearm and deep, high-luster blueing. It is a Non-Boss model and has no sights. It's extremely accurate with unmatched reliability. (Scope not included). -Caliber: 338 Winchester Magnum -Barrel Length: 24" -Total Capacity: 4 (includes one round in chamber) -Avg. Weight: 8 lbs. 3 oz. -Overall Length: 45" -Drop at Comb: " (Measured from centerline of bore) -Drop at Heel: 1 1/8" -Length of Pull: 13 " -Rate of Twist: 1 in 10" Standard Features: Action Type-Gas operated, autoloader with an extra strong multiple lug rotating bolt that locks directly into the barrel. Every cartridge that is loaded into the chamber of the BAR is surrounded by a recessed bolt face, which, in turn, is encircled by the barrel, which, in turn, is surrounded by the receiver. Three rings of steel surround the cartridge. A seven-lug bolt and precise breech-to-chamber relationship give the BAR an exceptional degree of accuracy and the strength to handle magnum loads. The strong and very rigid action bar/inertia block link-up improves accuracy by reducing barrel vibration. The buffering system reduces wear and stress on the rifle's mechanism. Barrel-Individually machined from forged, heat-treated billets of steel. This is a Non-BOSS rifle and has open sights. Bolt Release Lever-Incorporated into the receiver. Magazine-A detachable box magazine with a unique hinged floorplate. Receiver-Safari model has one-piece ordnance steel, richly blued with scroll engraving and frilled and tapped for scope mounts.   Safety-Cross bolt with enlarged head. Safety Lock-All Browning firearms are shipped with a free trigger lock, padlock or a chamber lock, depending on the model, to assist you in the safe storage of your firearm. Stock and Forearm-The fluted stock design incorporates a full pistol grip with an undercut and is contoured for use with open sights, receiver (peep) sights or scope sights. The forearm is full and hand filling. Sling swivel studs are installed in the stock and forearm. Trigger-Features a short, smooth single stage on the trigger. Trigger assembly can be easily removed for maintenance and cleaning. Comes with an enlarged trigger guard.
