The Barnaul Machine Plant JSC is one of the leading producers of industrial goods and ammunition in Russia. The plant's history goes far in the past to the period of Alexander I. The Emperor ordered the opening of the first cartridge plants in St. Petersburg in 1869. During World War I the plant supplied the Russian Army and operated out of St. Petersburg, During World War II, the plant was relocated to Barnaul, where production of various types of cartridges began.

"Really good price for 500 rounds. I shot 200 rounds yesterday without a single failure. I can't say that accuracy is anywhere near good with these but overall I'm happy with the purchase."

"I have used the Brown Bear shells in my 5.56 for a couple of years now and have always felt I got my moneys worth. This time I am very disappointed. I have shot or tried to shoot two boxes (40 rounds) of the 500 rounds I bought for my 7.62x39 and out of the 40 rounds that I tried, I had 17 that did not fire. In their defense this is a brand new gun and it may not be loose enough but all the Wal-Mart brands fire just fine in it. I have even put some misfired shells in it a second time to see what happened..... Nothing. Maybe it's just a bad batch but I'm not happy. I have many more shells to try since I've paid for them already but as of now..... They have let me down."

"Have shot most of the case I bought last summer thru several of my AK's (SAR-1, MAK-90 & WASR 10/63) without a hitch. I know they are hot enough because I had drilled vents in the right side of the gas tubes of the Romanian AK's to control flip and flex, and they still eject powerfully."

"so comparing this ammo to the russian ammo at wal mart (white box) that has been very accurate and it blew it out the water i was poping soup cans at 40 yards everyshot not so with white box it was high and inconsistent comparatively im used to the brown bear stuff to go bang every time but being accurate for once im thrilled all shot were out of norinco sks with 40 rd promag and tapco 20 that is breaking now and has more jams then my promag"

"I've shot about 300 rounds of this stuff so far without one FTF or FTE. Accuracy is OK at 50 yards. Kinda dirty, but it didn't seem to bother my I.O. AK-47c after 300 rounds."
– Reese from Mascot

"Runs well in my WASR and groups about 6\" at 50 yards, so it's good for target practice. Runs a little cleaner than UCW. Not as tight of groups as Wolf though."

"Shooting five shots w/ three touching at 50 yds through a scoped SKS, with a 0.75 spread, off a bench rest. Haven't taken the time to go out to 100 yards yet. Very satisfied. Who could ask for anything more? Hope every lot is this accurate."

"Ammo has proven highly reliable in my PWS AR-15 and cycles flawlessly thru a 9\" SBR PWS suppressed upper on a Colt M-16 full auto lower. Expect to look like you just crawled of a coal mine, after a few hundred rounds."

"I took 150 rounds of this ammo to the local range to give it a test run through my VZ-58 (Czech version of AK-47). I had zero misfeeds, zero misfires, and 100% satisfaction. My rifle was dirty when we were done but a regular cleaning upon RTB and it was fine. I'll be ordering more when my first lot is gone."

"bought 500 rounds. fired 210 from my new centurion 39 tactical. 2 failed to load. Don't know if it was the Tapco mag or the American made AK. but it made a dent in the bullet. I had to take out the mag and eject the round. other then that they shot great. seemed kinda dirty too."

"shipped to my door in 3 days...was very impressed...for the price you cant beat it...haven't had a chance to get out to the range to test it but im sure with all the other great reviews it shouldn't have a problem cycling through my M92"

"I have used a lot of this ammunition, well over 2500 rounds. In that time I have only had 1 FTE in my weapon (WASR). That's pretty darn good and what I hope for in a pinch. Accuracy at distance is fair but let's be realistic about the platform you are (likely) using too. The AK is not a surgical weapon, it's a chopper. I have fired mine in some taxing conditions, dirt, limited-no cleaning, wet etc. The thing just eats this stuff up. I love this ammo and it does everything I would expect it to do and the pricing. I'll take that every day. It pays to keep a strategic reserve and you can afford to that with this ammunition. Inexpensive, reliable and CTD gets it here quickly, I could ask for nothing better. Highly recommended."

"I have shot this ammo without issues. As for accuracy I hit my targets at 300 yards with the same as the brass equivalent. With the high cost of 22lr it's cheaper to shoot the real stuff. Let the junk 22lr ammo comedown to where junk ammo belongs."

"My Zastava O-PAP M70 eats this stuff up. No FTF's, FTE's, or any other malfunctions after 500 rounds with only cursory cleaning. Not the most accurate stuff in the world, but you can't beat it for the price. Definitely superior to the (only slightly) cheaper TULAmmo. Just ordered two more cases."

"This ammo is hard hitting HP's with a lot of speed behind them, and a decent muzzle break will keep the barrel rise down by a few inches. The cheap AK slant breaks and \"flash suppressors\" will not help keep these rounds on target. If you want to be able to quickly follow up a shot with these rounds, I highly suggest a Centurion C39 style break or similar. Without a good down force break, the muzzle rise is close to that of an M14 with these rounds in all of the lighter AK platforms I have tried it in."
