Berger Hunting VLD projectiles are an excellent choice if you are the type of hunter looking for match grade bullets with the highest possible ballistic coefficient designed for 300 yards or greater. Berger recommends that the bullet should be seated to a depth that allows them to touch the rifling for best accuracy, however with that the overall length may be too long for some magazines. The Hunting VLD's design will allow it to penetrate two to three inches before it start to expands, so often the initial expansion the bullet will shed between 40% and 85% of it's original weight sending shrapnel into the surrounding tissue.
