"Used it on an A1 barrel for a \"RETRO\" look. It works and looks great. There are NO flats on it, so I had to turn it on with a large screwdriver. It does make that PING sound when fired. These were known as \"Weed Grabbers\" and that is why they went to the A1 and later A2 flashiders."

"Added this to my cart while buying ammo on a whim. I liked the classic look and thought I'd give it a look and see how it preformed. I looked up some old Vietnam-era photos of M16 to see how the flash hiders were aligned. (Which seems to be with one prong on top in line with the sights.) After installing it I got the chance to shoot at night and was impressed with how minimal the muzzle flash was. Definitely improved over my original birdcage type. Also, I noticed that \"ping\" after firing. The prongs act like tuning forks and will resonate briefly after any impact or shot. It's nothing to be concerned about and actually cool, unique effect in my opinion."

"Great DPMS product made for the .625 barrel. It gives the weapon that Vietnam era look. Also tried on the newer .750 HBAR barrels, threads on perfectly, however looks out of place due to the HBAR barrels diameter. If you have the .625 lightweight barrel and want the Vietnam era look of the Colt SP1/M-16 this is for you!"

"I am very happy with the way it looks and installs. I called DPMS before I bought it, and they said for sure you will need a crush washer with it. (I had heard you did not need one and wanted to get an answer from the source.) Yes, there is a \"ping\" when it shoots and all my friends know when my gun is going off now. They all want one."
