"I ordered a couple of these and they are great! They are not new but they are not beat up at all, barely scratched. No rust. They seal great and are air tight. Rubber seals are in good condition. These are so much better than what I can get locally and less than half the cost! I think I am going to order more. :)"

"Great can, in good condition. I gave it a four out of five because the writing is covered with tan spray paint, I like the original look myself."

"These are pretty nice, I ordered two. A little bit of rust in one of them, Original stamping is spray painted over. Works great for storing ammo and gun gear."

"Good cans. picked up two of them for storage, seals are good and seem to be rust free. only problem was the terrible stench that struck my nose as I peaked into the cans. planning on picking up ten more, as they are extremely useful for storing almost anything. you can't beat the price for this great item. just be careful when ordering any surplus gear, sometimes its good or bad, just stay with it and your luck will change"

"I picked 5 of these up for storing ammo and whatever else. Mine are in fine condition, quite dirty and the lids stick a little on some of them, but the original writing isn't painted over and there is no smell. Minimal rust, if at all. They are surplus ammo cans and are supposed to be rugged. The cans actually are in better condition than I expected. Good, rugged cans."

"For being a used surplus item, I was very impressed. Yea there was a little rust and a slight smell, but after sitting with the lid open for a day or so, the smell was gone. I'll be ordering more, and you should too !"

"The .50 Cal Used Military Ammo Can is by far the best means of storage. Watertight, strong, easily accessible and compact...perfect for work tools, automobile, truck, camping and shop. The watertight seal helps to keep contents dry. The secure latch mechanism helps assure tightness of the seal. The lid is completely removable from the hinge. Not to mention storing ammo, it's a safe way. Very easy to carry around and stackable. I recommend!"

"I have purchased these ammo cans several times over the years. They have usually been received in very good used condition, and have served me well. They keep my stuff protected and dry while knocking around in the trunk of my car for years at a time. The only problem I have ever had was with two cans (in the same shipment) - which had been damaged, and somehow each had a broken seam... and I had more than a half inch of foul smelling, oily, brackish liquid in the bottoms of the cans, and the inside bottoms of those cans were starting to degrade. Make sure you check out the insides of all of yours when you get them."

"I ordered two, then ordered four more a week later! Cans were in good shape, no rust, seals in good condition. All markings have been covered with tan paint, and one or two smelled a little funky on the inside, but nothing that a little soap and water won't fix.Overall, a temendous value!"

"I ordered 3 of these cans they are in better shape than in expected. No rust,no dent, good shape and the seals are also in great shape.Overall a great value,I think Iam going to order more. You can't beat the price."

"Havent bought these cans from CTD, but I have bought them from local surplus stores (A surplus can is a surplus can). I love CTD though.Point is, figured id share some tips with yall for..ahh..breathing life back into an old can. (Read: Rusty/Scratched/Etc).Rustolem makes a spray paint line called Camo. And their OD is rather close to the real deal. It also has a sealing agent in it.If i get a can and its rusty, i scrub it with steel wool, then a bronze brush (Gun cleaning tool) then clean it up with a damp sponge. Let it dry then spray the entire can..inside and out with the rustolem spray paint.IMO it helps the can last alot longer.I have bought two of the 40mm cans from CTD before, both had some rust. I cleaned and repainted them. put a coat of clear sealant, then another coat of the paint on it. Currently those two cans are burried about 4 ft deep (I live in FL..) holding ammo, a 2nd BoB (Bug Out Bag), a spare pistol and ammo. I check them every 6 months and i just checked them..still perfect.Used waterproof vacuum bags on the inside to hold the items just for extra protection from my states notorious wetness. So yeh..remember..they are surplus cans that CTD is offering and thus some will be rusty. But realize that they can be easily brought back to BETTER than prior condition."

"First it is an ammo can, however it is not a .50 cal ammo can, it is a 5.56mm ammo can which is .223, second it has been spray painted tan over the side with the text and the edges of the lid. Otherwise it is in good condition with no rust or dents. It would have been nice to not have to strip and repaint it remake it to original... however I'll survive."

"I bought these along with a bunch of the lake city 5.56 ammo a great combination. Was even able to remove the tan spraypaint that covered the gov. markings so I know whats in them and how much."

"Hi,Yeah, recently I recieved my CTD Ammo Can and I'd asked to have 'em select and send a nice one that looked like the one pictured. Well, it arrived and it was in VERY good condition compared to the rusty, dented up cans avail. here at our local surplus stores. My only complait was the painting over of the stenciling with beige paint! ??? I liked the stenciling, it gave the cans a more authentic look. I mean, 'come on, if they were going to paint out the stenciling why wouldn't they at least get some proper matching OD Camo paintto do it with. I dunno. I just don't like to buy something only to have itbecome ANOTHER project to deal with. So, I'm very happy it's a good canto store my ammo in but also disappointed with the amatuerish spray-painting of the can. What-cha' you goin' t' do?Karl-Marcel Koenen"

"I received my order three days after placing it, and just like all the other reviews my ammo can also had tan paint covering the lettering on the side and top of the can. But with a little work, hot soapy water and a fine scotch-brite pad from local hardware store, I was able to remove all tan paint and over spray without removing the lettering. The can looks great and holds my 556 ammo on stripper clips just like it was made to do."

"Be sure to order the 3-Tray Ammo Can Organizer(ZAA-074)! Fits like a glove and these cases are in great shape. Perfect gasket. Thanks CTD!"

"Other than the silly tan paint on the sides, the two I ordered were in great shape. No rust, dents and only a few scratches. Rustoleum's Camo paint is a great match and keeps everything looking good. No complaints here..."

"First, the order came in 2 days. Thanks!Cans were in very good shape, one was hard to open and had some sand in it, other was in great shape, ordering two more today. Also got the trays, get them too. Like other posters I wish the lettering wasn't painted over....."

"Ok people, we are all here because we like to shoot; and I sure do my share. Most of my shooting is done on my private time(thank God!). Any way I have stored up alot of ammo for my personal use, and I, like most of you, have run out of places to safely store said ammo. So, while visiting this site I came accross these used ammo cans. I bought six of them(with two sets of the insert trays for two of them). I was VERY happy with all six cans that I received. No dents, handles in excellant shap, and they sealed so tightly that I had to put most of what I have to open them! So if you want pretty and shinny, buy New Ammo Cans that start at $50. and up! In short this is an excellant deal!PS. I do suggest that for every one of THESE cans you buy, also buy the set of the three Insert Separator trays to go with them, these will come in handy for even future uses."

"For the low price from CTD, this is a great value. They are used and are kinda ugly but they work great for storing ammo and other stuff. They are sturdy and very stackable. I'll be buying several more."

"I ordered these ammo cans. I was very satisfied with the product: Price/delivery and quality. Instead of spray painting over the letters on the can, you can use acetone and they come right off. It gives a cleaner look than brown spray paint over it."
5.0 5
"Just got mine in with my ammo can organizers filled up each of one with my surplus 7.62x25 and 7.62x54 cleaned up the closet couple of cases all in one box. Probably be buying more to round up the rest of my 54 ammo. Definately recommend these to clean up your gun room."
5.0 5
"These cans work great for organizing, safely storing, and packaging your ammo. As for all the previous comments about people being upset over having the tan oblitterating spray paint over the the can's nomenclature, DODIC, and Lot numbers they are just going to have to live with it. I am an Active Duty Air Force member working in the Munitions Systems (AMMO) section as a munitions inspector. One of the requirements we have before shipping ammo cans out to DRMO is to obliterate all markings on the cans with spray paint. DRMO in turn will either have the metal scrapped or will sell the cans to companies for public sale. Just be happy that when you purchase an ammo can from this company that you are receiving a quality military grade product in good condition that was actually used by one of this country's armed services. Besides, it really isn't that hard to get the paint off anyway."

"i just received my 50 Cal used ammo can and it is great. i received it 5 days after ordering it, i woke up this morning looked at fedex website to check on status and saw it was here already. After ripping the box apart, i saw the can was in great shape. It did have some marks on it but hey, it a used military can - what can you expect? The letters on the side of the can were spray painted over with a brown color so it is hard to read exactly what it used to say. No rust, but a little dusty. Buy these cans. They are well worth every penny. You will not be disappointed. At this price, buy two."

"My cans arrived in EXCELLENT condition. Every one. No dents at all and minimal scratches. A+"

"Order arrived 3 days after placing it. .50 Cal ammo can was in excellent shape. No spray paint covering the letters like others have reported. Priced cheap. This is a great buy!!"

"I purchased one with my recent order not expecting much, but I was surprised to get a like new can. To let you know how good the seal is, I opened mine & heard a suction hiss (the pressure at the location it came from was less than where I'm at). All I had to do was take a damp towel & wipe off a bit of dust from the exterior. There was no spray paint my can like others are saying...but who knows, I probably got lucky. It's a great buy, and I just ordered 2 more to put my ammo inventory in. They're heavy duty & well worth the $."
5.0 5
"Honestly, I expected worse. The box is like new, besides that spray paint (but I was expecting that thanks to these reviews) and seals wonderfully. As said before, I heard a vaccuum seal open up. A little bit of brown sand was in one, but the paint was good as new!! It also arrived 2 days after I placed the order."
5.0 5
"I bought this and although mine does have the tan paint on it it still looks very nice. I use it to transport my Airsoft ammo/accessory's. Looks cool and is like new condition. Definitely recommend this to anyone iffy about buying it. Can't beat the price, if you can even find them anywhere else. Great product."
4.0 5
"As others have said, some tan spray paint over the writing on the side, so no surprise there. I also got the satisfying "pop" when I first opened it, showing that it does indeed have a good seal.Overall great condition, but I knocked off one star because the front handle was a tad bent. Still, it should work perfect for storage!"
5.0 5
"This is a great can at a great price. I can get 300 rds of 223 and 2400 rds of 22LR, plus my glasses, ears, and Glock 23 in it. It seals tight, and is sturdy as can be. Buy several, you won't be disappointed."

"These are a nice value. Our local shop used to carry these for 25 bucks. It has a bit of rust inside and oil. So i hosed it out with greased lighting, dried well and caked it with rag full of WD-40, air dry. Looks better, holds 1000 7.62x39 rounds easily, and weights a ton when full. I will be buying a few more, and a couple in .30 cal size for pistol surplus."

"I have the luxury of going to the store itself in Ft. Worth. All the Ammo Cans were in excellent shape. Picked up 6. Yes, they were all spray painted with tan paint to obliterate the yellow markings on the side. I used "Goof-Off", a product that removes dried latex paint, glue, adhesives, sticker residue, etc. It did a fantastic job. It does take off the yellow lettering too but leaves the OD paint on the can. They all look brand new now! Goof-Off can be bought at any hardware store, even Wal-Mart. Comes in a small can about half the size of a lighter fluid can."

"It is what it is. These are surplus ammo cans and as such, you get what they have. I got mine two days after ordering (4 of them). Some had full paint jobs, some had some surface corrosion, some had rough paint jobs, and some had sand in them (maybe Iraqi or Afghani sand..if so, I'm proud I got some). All were exactly what CTD said they were...SURPLUS AMMO CANS. Yeah, they stink like they've been in storage but that's what happens when you buy SURPLUS military stock. Mine are for storing ammo, which is what they are for. If you want museum pieces, go someplace else. A little Dawn dish soap, hot water and a light coat of oil and they will meet your needs if what you are looking for are, SURPLUS AMMO CANS. I think I got every penny's worth out of my purchase. Just my humble opinion."

"Got my can 3 days after ordering it. The tan paint I had read about was there, but 10 minutes of scrubbing with a Scotch-Brite pad took care of it. I can still read the markings too! There were no dents, minor scratches and no rust. Just a little dust, that's all. Very tight seal, and it appears that the gasket is in excellent condition. This will definitely make a great toolbox to fit behind the backseat in my Tacoma. Highly recommended!!"

"I ordered two in the hopes of increasing my chances of getting a good one. Well, I'm glad I did, because my strategy paid off. Both actually look pretty good from the outside (more or less like the picture), but one of them had WATER inside. So, being that they are painted steel, the paint inside completely blistered and the bottom was pretty rusty. I used some steel wool to remove the blistered paint, and some phosphoric / naval jelly to get rid of the rust. After an interior paint job, I should be in good shape. The other one was pretty nice, almost new, having only a bit of sand in it as some other people mentioned. Both had the tan paint over the markings, but I don't really care about it. Both gaskets are in good shape. The one filled with water made a vacuum noise when opening it. Overall, I'm happy since they don't have any dents or mechanical problems. By the way, the lid slides right off the hinges for easy maintenance."

"I received an ammo can and didn't like the tan paint like most. I tried paint thinner and wasn't happy with how slow the paint was coming off so I tried Goof Off. Goof Off takes off the tan paint and the yellow lettering if you rub the same spot very long at all-it works well but use with caution if you want the yellow lettering."

"I gave this four stars instead of five because the picture cheaper than dirt is using is not accurate at all. Yes, that's the can you'll be getting but it will be covered in writing and spray paint. They ought to have a picture of the produce you're going to buy.Anyway, I took some solvent to mine along with a wool brush and removed all of the tan paint. It took a little bit of scrubbing but it came off easily enough. It's kind of cool to own a real piece of military equipment like this. It feels pretty tough and I'm proud to own it.With the organizational inserts sold on this site it makes a fantastic gun bench tool container, by the way."

"Bought 3. One had some sand and a bit of rust. The other two were in perfect shape."

"WOW!, I read the reviews before I ordered three of these. I was a little nervous because with my normal luck, my cans would be so, so. They were delivered Superfast and they are PERFECT!. The orange paint on the side as everyone says if fine, just use some goof-off and they look Brand new. The seals are nice and tight with no leaks. What a great purchase. I will be ordering more so I can give to son for his ammo and gear. Keep up the Great prices and Service."

"Ordered 4 cans and they were all in good-as-new condition; thus the 5 bullet rating. No dents, damage or rust. Much better than anything I've seen at gun shows at a fraction of the price. The sand-coloured paint sucked but was able to easily remove it while retaining the original writing by using an old ScotchBrite sponge and some cheap paint remover. Just wet the scratchy side of the sponge, rub it over the paint to make it wet, wait a couple of minutes, scratch it, repeat as necessary. The covering paint was quickly removed while retaining the original writing. For all you "traditional" types (like myself), the cans I got were not .50 caliber but rather three 5.56 NATO and one 9mm can. Insignificant to anyone but a purist like myself :-)Definately a good buy."

"I like them....got exactly what I paid for. Bought 2 and even after they sat out in the rain until we got home, the insides were dry and NO RUST. Yes, there is tan paint on the side covering the lettering but, as the description says, these are USED. What do you want for $8 bucks!!!Thanks CTD!!!"

"Bought just one can because i was a little skeptical after reading some of these reviews... but i got mine and it was in great shape. had a little bit of sand in it, was a little dirty, but nothing that 30 seconds and a wet paper towel couldn't help fix. very satisfied and will be looking to buy more"

"Just bought and recieved 2 of these 50 Cal cans. Excellent condition, and fast shipment. Couple touches of rust here and there, mainly on the bottom corners, but nothing a little paint cant handle. Couldnt ask for anything better than what I got for what I paid for. Thanks to CTD!!"

"Ive received two of those cans today. They are great quality. I am very pleased. Cans are very clean, no rust, no scratches, near brand new condition. Also Ive got organizer inserts for these cans, and they fit in perfectly. Thank you CTD!!! You impressed me ones again!"

"I bought two of these cans over the internet late Saturday afternoon. They arrived the next Thursday morning. Fast service, indeed.Interestingly, they are not 50 cal cans. They are the 5.56MM 10 rd stripper cans as shown in the photograph. That aside, both are EXCELLENT. Both had markings painted out with black paint. One had a very small amount of surface rust on one corner. No dents or dings, and only a few scratches in the exterior paint. Both were like new inside, with perfect seals.A little Windex and a few paper towels, and they're ready to go."
5.0 5
"Bought four of these, three in excellent condition, one had a good amount of rust and water in it. A little care and it looks good as new. Have a few very small dents (they are used after all), but seal solid with no problems. Hold my spare ammo perfectly and in large quantities. I'll be buying six more soon."

"I ordered two and they arrived in LESS than 24 hours and in Good condition. I had picked up one at the store in fort worth and had gone back to get a couple more, but were sold out. I ordered two online and were in excellent condition and were just as if i had cheerie picked them myself....Thanks...."

"I ordered two cans and they have an excellent seal, but need a lot of TLC. Serious sandblasting and rust removal is needed before these cans are ready for the elements again. I think next time I will go to my local Army/Navy. I have bought many things from CTD and this is the only bad experience. I called the 800 number and they said that these cans are not refundable."
5.0 5
"Just received two cans today. Both came in excellent condition, no tan paint as mentioned in some posts, just had to give them a wipe down from dust. One had minimal surface rust, which WD-40 took right off. Seals were tight and cans were not dented in any way. Worth the $ if you are in the market, better condition than at my local gun shops."
3.0 5
"I ordered one of these to keep ammo in. I got it in today and it had a big white line on the top. It looks like someone was setting something on it to spray paint that thing. And the yellow marking are covered up by a big black spot of spray paint."
5.0 5
"I cheat, CTD is a block from my work, so I can go and pick out the ones I want. But just so everyone knows, the ones on the store floor look a little rough too. Little OD spray paint, maybe some tan and black and they're just fine for the intended purpose."
1.0 5
"Ordered one to carry cleaning supplies. It was very rusted and dented. Took 2 days of scrubbing to clean just the hinges of rust and it takes a hammer blow to open or close the can because of the sides are bend outward.I'll stick with my local military surplus store."
5.0 5
"Ordered 4 initially, loved them and ordered 6 more. 7 were in very good condition, 3 in just good condition. One arrived with water and rust in it. A few have faded paint. All seals intact, seal very tightly and can hold 800 rounds of .45 ammo."
2.0 5
"I just received 3 of these boxes since everybody is raving about them, but I must have gotten the worst ones out there. Each one has a lot of rust on them, and are generally in bad shape. Mine didn't have any spray paint over the original yellow text, so I am thinking all of the "excellent condition" ones are gone. Time to go and try to get them all cleaned up for ammo storage.."
4.0 5
"Got the shipping box and it kinda smelt funny, turns out it was the water, slime, rust mix, growing in the bottom of the can. Little CLR, wire bursh, paint and silicone will fix it right up."
5.0 5
"I am in the Army, so I am well used to these cans. Being away from a base though I couldn't get my hands on one anymore so I ordered mine from CTD. You can't beat these for durability, and keeping the elements off of your gear, ammor, etc. The only complaint I have is that they spraypainted over the nomeclature of the rounds that were originally in the can, which took away some of the nostalgia, but other than that the can was in like new condition. Highly recommended!"
5.0 5
"I ordered 3 50 Caliber Ammo Cans I could not believe the excellent quality of the product with the gaskets in superb condition. The only fault is the spray paint on top and sides and bottom of cans!"
5.0 5
"Just a little information about ammo cans. Cans that have all the writing on them mean the were used at the base that they where sold at. Cans that the writing is painted over means they where used somewhere else and shipped to another base to be sold. Cans that have different colors of paint on them means there were used with the intended ammo in it then used for light loads or another type of ammo or smoke bombs or anything. These are 50 cal cans, and used 100 belted rounds. They hold 840 rounds 5.56. They are used as 8 fuse pd m739 boxes so they have many uses. Ammo cans are inspected 3 times to make sure they are empty, that why the small strips of tape or string or the cans have a rock in them. As far as I know no cans come back from the war zones they are used at our base here in the USA. Most cans that have surface rust is the fact they are banded together and with a good seal they expand and contract with temperature change causing them to work against each other. When hot they expand and when cold they suck in that is why the military has a ammo can opener. Hope this information is helpful."

"I read the reviews but know the value of an ammo can having used them to store socket sets, and other tools on jobsites exposed to the weather before. I am a union sheet metal worker, and figured it it had some dents or rust that was no big deal to repair. I was surprised when the one I ordered to store my 9mm ammo arrived. No work needed AT ALL! Looked just like the one in the picture with original yellow 50 caliber lettering intact, no dents, no rust, and most importantly a good seal, and hinge. Little dusty but a wipe with wet paper towel, and it looked brand new. I am extremely pleased with this purchase, and will be looking to CTD in the future when I need more."

"I understand that ordering a used ammo can like this is a gamble, but so far luck's been on my side! This is my second order of cans, and I've yet to get a "dud." This one had a small amount of dust and grime, and a few VERY minor spots of surface rust (most notably on the front handle), but other than that was practically new. And this can had PERFECT writing on the side, unlike earlier specimens that had the writing either spray-painted over or in one case even had them gone over somewhat with a magic marker. Most importantly the gasket was in great shape. Thanks CTD!"

"As a new shooter - I read the reviews and decided to take a chance. I ordered 3 cans and they did show a little wear from being stacked along the bottom and sides - the .50 cal lettering was intact on all 3 like in the picture. No rust but I had to coax one of the cans open with a few good heaves - works fine now. The insides were all in very good shape. Other than that and a little minor dust and dirt - Good purchase!"

"Overall quality was more or less to be expected. Paint was that of a typical ammo box, markings all on the outside. The only reason why this product isn't rated higher is that the can had water and a few strands of someone's hair in it. The water had made the paint on the inside bubble and peel, which in turn caused some moderate rust. I washed the inside out and toweled it off, but given that I paid the amount of money that I had, I would hope that CTD would at least inspect it inside and out before shipping. Oh well, it's an ammo can, and it's serving it's intended purpose!"

"Ammo can was mint insdie but a bit rusty on the outside. I am a little dissapointed. Also some spray paint covers the ammo markings on the can. i guess i was hoping for more."

"Boy i love my ammo cans. I use one for most my knives and little accessories and the other for ammo. There is no better way to store your junk. On mine the lids hard enough to open i don't need to worry about my sister's two toddlers gettin in. I highly recomend these cans"

"I know that these are somewhat of a "caveat emptor" product and I appreciate CTD's efforts in acquiring and reselling the best they can.As a recently discharged veteran I appreciate the function of these cans and the fact that the exterior of mine was in great condition and cleaned up well, no dents or dings and the markings were in good shape, lends to the "ambience authenticity".The interior was pristine and coupled quite nicely with ZAA-004 Ammo Can Organizer. Than you CTD!!!"

"Had recieved .50 cal ammo cans from CTD before, last ones were in excellent condition. These I recieved were of a differnt make, or year, the look like an older design. (Same dimentions, and works great though). No scuff marks, little un-noticable, beginnins of rust. Nothing to worry about though. The seals are still good though. Have not had the chance to submerge them in water for extened period of time to test for leaks yet, (last two, passed the test are waterproof) but the seals look good enough to handle it though. I now have 5 of these I have ordered from CTD and I am happy with every one of them. Just rub a rem-oil rag over them, makes them look like new! I know where I am going if I want .50 cal ammo cans, CTD!Would recomend them to anyone."

"I ordered two. I don't know if I would describe the condition as EXCELLENT, but they are in good shape. The first one went "pssssstt" when openining, obviously air tight, the other shipped open so not sure. A little dirty, but no functional problems."

"These ammo cans were in excellent shape. I was hesitant ordering these on-line since they are not returnable, but recent CTD reviews (unlike some of the older reviews) were consistently good. I ordered 5 and all of them were in great shape. The only scuffs were on the bottom where they had slid across a hard surface, but even the scuffs were light and the paint remained in tact. One can had some residual powder in it and another had a single leaf and light dust inside. I washed them all under a shower head, wiped them with a sponge, and they now look new inside and out."
5.0 5
"Just as described - not perfect but with good paint and gasket. Solid handles and no rust. My next order will certainly include another one of these cans. Thanks."

"Man, these are nice! The three I ordered came yesterday, and except for one that came with some dirt in it, all three look like they came right from the factory. The gaskets have a good, strong seal (I had a heck of a time pulling them open). I put ammo in two and reloading supplies in a third, as well as moisture absorbers in all three. Now I am ordering three more, because I've got that much more ammo to store! Thank you for being there for us shooters, Cheaper Than Dirt!"

"Ordered 2 of these. - Both had a few rust spots on the outside- Light dirt/sand on the inside but no rust- Rubber seals intact and work well- 1 had desert tan spray paint over the military markings =(Overall, not bad. Will order a couple more for ammo storage use."

"Dear All,Very nice, fresh paint. Unfortunately it does NOT obscure the enormous DENT in the can near the seal!!! Not wanting to deal with the hassle of a return or replacement (as if I actually COULD do this) I repaired the ENORMOUS DEFORMATION OF THE CAN with my boot and the can over some wood. I THINK the can and gasket actually meet... but who knows!? We shall see...I'll roll the dice and order another one. I wonder if this review will be POSTED!?Dan"

"The reason it's not what I thought is I searched m-855 ammo cans purposly. Even though it says 50 cal. it showed a picture of exactly what I searched. If you search something specific they should show the pictuer as what your getting. As for "hand picked EXCELLENT condition, mine had a little rust not bad but had big white stickers on each side. Both were water damaged to the point of bubbling. Said nothing about M-855 it was G-940 granade."

"I just got my order of six ammo cans. All were in great condition. No dings or dents, all closed properly and snug. They were clean inside and out...well very light dust on the outside of three of them but after a paper towel wipe-down, they looked nice and new. Oh, and if you are wondering, they may read 5.56 or 50cal."

"received as described. I want more of these."
5.0 5
"As from my previous post, I bought 4 more - no problems, excellent condition as stated. So, after ordering a total of 10 boxes, all 10 were great. Thanks CTD!"

"Impressed as always with CTD. This can arrived very fast. It is in very good-great condition. Will order more a little later. Great Buy!"
4.0 5
"I ordered one, seeing it as a value buy, and to see if they were in good shape. I felt like if I liked it, I would be ordering more. I got it in great condition, with only slight showings of rust around some of the metal parts of the handle and lid. I will be ordering two more. great buy"
5.0 5
"I just got two of these. Mine arrivied in "like-new" condition. Couldn't have asked for better, can't beat the price!"
5.0 5
"These cans arrived in immaculate condition. Went to a local surplus and there is not comparison. Had to spend extra on shipping, but that's the nature of the beast. Shipping was expensive. The order arrived quickly. Kudos to CTD........"
5.0 5
"Mine came with "100 cartridges 50 CAL." Looks like the box was used once. Great shape, no rust, no dents, great seal."
5.0 5
"Almost perfect condition. A couple of scratches that don't even go all the way thru the paint and thats it. I'll give it more than that the first time I toss it into the trunk of the car. Ordering two more now."
3.0 5
"The two ammo cans I ordered did not look like grade 1. The first one has deep gouges on either side, but other than that is in fair condition. The second on the other hand looks like it has been sitting in a jungle for the last 30 years, massive rust, gouging, and scratches pepper the entire thing.Overall, its a fair purchase, but these cans were not grade 1."
5.0 5
"I ordered 7 of the Grade 1 cans and got 7 Grade 1 cans! Could not be happier!"
1.0 5
"These cans are a piece of crap. Dented, rusty and wet inside. For the price we expected far better. Save your money, find your local surplus store or go to a gun show so you can see what you are buying and pick out the best."
5.0 5
"I only ordered one can. It is in excellent condition. I will order more."
5.0 5
"I ordered 3 Grade I cans and got 3 Grade I cans in excellent condition. I'm now ordering 4 more before the deal is gone! I have never had a bad deal with CTD."
5.0 5
"I only ordered one can. Should have ordered more. The one I received was in like new condition, no rust at all. Will order more."
5.0 5
"Just got one of thes last week and is in amazing shape..no rust, perfect rubber seal and fresh paint..thanx...will order more soon."
5.0 5
"These cans are great quality, they seal great and there were no large blemishes on them no dents and no rust. already put oder in for more."
5.0 5
"This was my second order of these cans. All have been in great shape. No rust and good gaskets. No complaints here."
5.0 5
"Received cans in new, squeeky and clean condition. Thanks..."
5.0 5
"Received Boxed 3 days after purchase. Good condition. Clean on the inside. Slight scratching on the outside around the whole box, but this is USED US military gear to be expected. no major defects or damage on the boxes. seals like a champ. I will definitely be buying more in the future."
5.0 5
"Came quickly and in excellent condition."
5.0 5
"The boxes look brand new and though they are a little hard to close these still rock!"
5.0 5
"They hold about 10,000 rounds of .22. They just get really heavy. I love mine so get this. This is the cheapest site out there."
5.0 5
"Mine showed up in perfect shape. The latch is tight and the seal looks brand new. Not a scratch on it. Can't wait to order more. Great job CTD!"
5.0 5
"Got several of these and they are as they are described. Slight scuffs on outside with a real minor dent in one. But latched perfectly, had to force the cans open as they had vacuum sealed shut (been sitting on door step for a couple hours after delivery in cold weather) so that shows the seals are in great condition. Can not beat the deal for these."
5.0 5
"Bought 2 cans just like they described. Just a little dirty other than that just like new."
5.0 5
"I bought 3 of these ammo cans they were all in great shape. 1 looked like it had never been used and the other 2 had some small scratches but were still in great shape."
5.0 5
"Bought a dozen of these. Not a pristine as as the picture but great gear. Tight seals and no rust. The shipment and delivery was exceptional. Order placed on Monday, March 08, 2010 1:02 PM. They were delivered on Thursday March 11 at 9:10 am. From Dallas, TX to rural Virginia. CTD ROCKS!!"
5.0 5
"What great cans, hardly any wear on the 3 cans I bought. The price is also cheaper than any survival store by my house. A must for ammo storage."
5.0 5
"perfect condition"
5.0 5
"I am very satisfied with this ammo can for sure! This thing looks like it was never used. I am definitely ordering more of these, as they make hauling ammo boxes of all kinds a lot easier and with style : )"
4.0 5
"Ordered 5 of these. Got them in less than 24 hours! 4 were like new (except for dust and a little sand inside)! One was 1/4 full of mud, sand and a spent blank round but, cleaned up well. Seals are good. These are marked 5.56. If boxes are stacked correctly you can get a full case in each can. Great buy and I'll be ordering many more before they're gone! CTD delivers what they advertise!"
5.0 5
"Just as described... Thanks."
5.0 5
"Got exactly what i expected. The box had some dirt on it a a few scratches, but the seal on the box was Amazing! The very minor few scuffs give it character."
5.0 5
"I thought it was pretty darn clean. No funny smell, just a bit of sand. Very happy with the purchase, about to buy a couple more."
5.0 5
"I'm very happy with this can! This is basically brand new looking. Seals up great too! When I opened it, I got a good amount of gas escaping. I highly recommend these!"
5.0 5
"Items as described, and in great shape. This is something every shooter needs. I ordered this at 5:30pm and it showed up on my door step at 10:30am the next morning. CTD's shipping never ceases to amaze me."
2.0 5
"I ordered three grade I ammo cans expecting them to be in "used, but in like new to excellent condition". When cans arrived they were dirty on the inside, and the paint was chipped rusting on the outside. I don't know what I'll do with these."
5.0 5
"Arrived as described. I will be ordering many more. Great ammo can."
4.0 5
"All Grade I cans are equal, but some Grade I cans are more equal than others...I ordered 2 of these .50 cal ammo cans. The first one looked like a Grade II can. It was sun bleached, the paint was not smooth, and the can had spots of rust, had to cover the thing in oil. It was solid and the seal still worked. It did not look as bad as the Grade III can pictured in this website though. The second Grade I can was much better. It looked unused. They really should add a Grade II category for .50 cal cans.Gave it 4 instead of 5 bullets because not all Grade I cans are the same quality."
5.0 5
"I have quite a few ammo cans and I can honestly say these are the best ones I've ever seen. They look perfect. I've bought 3 and all 3 have arrived in perfect condition. Thanks CTD!"
5.0 5
"All of my cans arrived in great shape and they looked brand new! All I had to do was wipe a little dirt off and I was good to go. Thanks again for the great products at a great price!"
5.0 5
"What can I say? Ammo can is in great shape when I received it. A Little WD-40 and some elbow grease and they clean up perfectly. Seals are in great shape, a little bit of rust but here in the desert i don't have to worry about it. Shipping took 4 days, so I call Bull on the ordered 530 one day, got it 1030 the next morning comment. Either way, great product! Keep it up CTD! P.S. - What happened to the 40mm Grenade Cans?"
5.0 5
"Other than a little dirt this can came as advertised. Seal was in good shape and the can was not bent or distorted. Minor scratches in the paint but nothing a little touch up paint wouldn't fix to prevent rust. CTD processed and delivered my order extremely fast. Props to CTD and FedEx for quick delivery."
4.0 5
"All the boxes I ordered arrived on time and were in good condition."
5.0 5
"I can vouch for the airtight seal on this. Being that it was shipped from low altitude (Texas) to Colorado, it actually burst open when I released the hatch due to the lowere air pressure at 6,000 ft. Gave me a start. Fits all sorts of ammo boxed or loose."
4.0 5
"Thanx for the fast delivery, CTD- anyhow, the can I got was a little below the advertised grade, it has lots of wear/scratches [not a big deal] and one of the lid-hinge pins is bent so the lid cannot be removed [this is an issue]. Will try reforming with hand tools. Next time, I'm buying the grade III cans since the cust feedback seems to indicate those units are in just about the same shape as this one. Pros- the wear shows bare metal, not rust. The inside is perfectly fine, seals tight with fairly fresh sealing gasket."
4.0 5
"Ordered three cans; two had a deeper flange on the side of the lid, the third had the stenciling painted over. All in all, exactly what I expected, minor rust but no dents. Kind of amazing to think of these things as disposable packaging, but I guess when you need 100 more rounds of .50, you want to know it's in perfect shape..."
5.0 5
"Looked to be a once used ammo can. Clean on the inside and out. Excellent seal. It was hot outside so when I opened it up, I heard air rushing out. Perfect for my long-term ammo storage needs. I wish it said 5.56mm 62gr BALL... I'll just get a stencil and do it myself. Great value. Thank you CTD!!!"
5.0 5
"I got fifteen this time. All looked to be in new condition. Very satisfied and will buy more shortly."
5.0 5
"Great cans, I love these things. Also got the can organizers with it, works very well."
1.0 5
"I ordered it because it says grade I, arrived with sand in the box, sand stuck on the rubber gasket, large rusted area, and large dent on the side."
5.0 5
"I ordered 4 and they were in as good a condition as anyone could expect for a used ammo can, all had good seals, only one had a little ( less than 1/2 inch ) rust where the latch must have rubbed aginst something."
1.0 5
"These were never used for .50 cal ammo. The markings (painted over) indicate these cans were used to pack Eight (8) #N285 fuses. No rubber seal - which is a real shortcoming. I'll probably keep the five I bought, but be advised."
5.0 5
"I ordered 3 of these and some desicant to store spare ammo. Being surplus didnt expect much, would be happy as long as there are no holes in them. Got them quick (as usual), and would swear they had only been used once! No rust, no real gouges, very minor scuffing, seals good, interior clean. To those that got some crappy ones, figure someone missed the inspection, happens unfortunately. I will definitely order more!"
4.0 5
"A little bit of metal wear and a tiny spot of surface rust. Box came with the contents stamp sprayed over with OD paint, and "EMPTY" stamped on the back and inside bottom, a bit disappointing but nothing major. When I opened the latch I heard a hiss of air, this seal is in mint condition. The minor wear on the outside earns it 4/5 instead of a full 5/5. I'd still buy another."
4.0 5
"I ordered and received three of these cans and they arrived very fast, are in good condition and fully servicable. Only comment is I wonder why they have sprayed the markings with a desert tan paint? Leave the markings alone please. While not a big deal, I understand, the cans look much more pleasing without a totally different color sprayed on them. I have to spray them again myself to restore the OD color and make them look more acceptable. Leave them with original markings please."
3.0 5
"For Grade I cans, I was expecting cans that looked like the picture- original paint and free of rust. I ordered three "Grade I" cans and only one was Grade I, while the other two I would rate Grade III. One had some light rust inside that I had to remove with steel wool and WD-40, and the other had been partially re-painted gray. A long strip of duct tape was affixed to one. I'm not certain how they made the Grade I cut. That said, the cans functioned perfectly. There was no mechanical damage to them and the gaskets seemed fine. No dents or major scratches. Good price, but I wish CTD would sort these better- I don't mind Grade III cans, but not if I'm paying for Grade I."
5.0 5
"I have ordered approx 20 of these over the past two months. All arrived in fine working order with good seals. A few painted over areas here and there, small scratches or dings, and some dust and sand in the first batch. No they're not new, but all cleaned up in seconds. For this price what else do you want? It's an ammo can, not a piano! I should have bought 30!"
5.0 5
"Great Ammo Can. This is the same thing the U.S. military uses in their operations throughout the world. The description was accurate. Very little rust. No dents and only a couple spots of chipped paint. Just pay the extra 2-3 dollars for the grade I condition it is worth it. As always CTD's shipping was reasonable and fast. I ordered on monday and got it on friday. Thank you CTD."
5.0 5
"I ordered two cans and they arrived in very good condition, all with working seals. I'll definitely order again."
5.0 5
"Being in the military and my job in it, I see these green cans all the time. On my last deployment to Iraq our post had a gaint one with the date of 1983 on it. When we broke that sucker open the rounds looked like they were made yesterday. I have bought 2 or 3 from here and they work as well as they all should. Mine looked like I brought it home from work that day."
4.0 5
"I bought 3. All were air tight in VG condition."
5.0 5
"I bought these to accomodate my ammo increase. One can was sealed so well than when I opened it, a puff of air rushed out like I was opening up a bottle of soda. I would recommend getting these cans from this site, especially. They didn't charge me an arm and a leg for the shipping for the cans. I would of paid much more for shipping from another site I use."
4.0 5
"I bought one of these (and a .30 cal can) and they were shipped darn quick. The can I got is in good shape, the seal/gasket is intact. However, it is not in "like new" condition. I had to clean a bunch of sand and assorted grit out of it and the paint has seen better days. That being said, there is no visible rust and it will certainly function. It is worth the price paid for it."
5.0 5
"I ordered one can to test out. I had no problems. They were pretty good condition with no rust. I will probably get more."
4.0 5
"I have ordered another 10 of these and 2 were strangely painted orange and said Grenades on the side of them. Upon opening it looked like a grenade had gone off inside! Or perhaps someone was using it to burn dinner or body parts or old gunpowder. Wasn't even worth scraping, repainting, or returning, just threw them out. These were the first 2 out of 30 or so from CTD that were duds. Still a decent gamble!! I do see the same condition cans locally for a dollar more and you get to inspect them, its just hit and miss on stock."
1.0 5
"I just ordered 3 of these. Delivery was quick as usual, however it was packaged for shipping incredibly poorly. Not a single one was in a condition anywhere near Grade I. They are rusted shut, look 30 years old, and the one that does open smells like it has been used to store some sort of chemical or solvent for a couple of decades. You can't even open it without getting a headache. I have ordered 3 in the past (over a year ago) and they were great. Beware, I would not trust the description and purchase these!"
5.0 5
"I first ordered two to see what shape these where in. One was like new and one looked a little rough on the outside but inside was like new with a good seal. I ordered eleven more and all eleven are in like new condition, inside and out, with various markings on the outside. All had vacuum when I first opened them. I would not hesitate to buy more if needed. CTD is a great place to do business with. I have made many purchases from them."
5.0 5
"Just got mine today and the rubber seal is intack and there is no rust, dents or dings. It still smells like paint on the inside and had some dirt on the outside, nothing wrong with that though."
5.0 5
"The ammo can is great for grade 1 condition. There are little to no scratches, a good seal, and no water in it like others said there was. The best thing is how fast it was shipped. I orderd my can Wednesday night and it came in on Friday. Thanks again, CTD, for the fast shipping and awesome products."
5.0 5
"I bought a bunch of the .50 and the .30 caliber ammo cans from CTD. All have been great, most excellent and looked brand new. They smelled new too. I can't say enough good things about these cans and CTD for offering them at this excellent price. Fast shipping, as always."
5.0 5
"The best looking ammo can I've seen in a while!"
5.0 5
"I picked one of these up to keep my 5.56 rounds in. Condition is great inside and out. Just wish they didn't try to paint over the writing on the can, paint not same shade and ran when they painted it. Mine reads N285 8 fuse MTSQ M577A1,was hoping it read 5.56 like the pic. Overall, a great buy."
3.0 5
"I ordered one of these and I have to say that the photo on the website is kind of misleading. My can arrived dusty, dirty, and with one side spray painted with some strange writing. The seal is good but this isn't Grade I - more like Grade 2.5 I should have ordered a brand new can from my local sporting goods store, even though it's plastic. At least CTD could have dusted it off before shipping it. Guess I just got one of the lesser samples. Won't be buying one again"
2.0 5
"Not real happy with the quality OR the way these cans were boxed for shipping. Cans coated with dirt inside & out. Order of 4, placed on top of each other inside box without any packaging between them, vibration during ground shipping severely abrading the paint. Paid top $$ for shipping costs. Will not order these again."
4.0 5
"I ordered two of these. Two of them were in excellent condition. One had a defective seal and was full of moisture inside. CTD replaced it for me, no questions asked. Five bullets for great customer service. All of the cans were covered in dirt, inside and out and it got everything else in my order filthy. So, you might want to place a separate order for these, or ask CTD if they can separate them from the rest of your order, especially if you are ordering gifts."
5.0 5
"The cans received deserve every bit of all 5 stars."
5.0 5
"Bought 2 of the cans.Excellent condition. Will be buying 4 more now."
5.0 5
"Got several of these during the Christmas sale. Excellent Grade I product. Seals intact and cans in great shape."
5.0 5
"I ordered eight of these on Monday and they arrived today (wed), very quick shipping. They were a little dusty, but otherwise in excellent shape. There were no physical signs of damage. The handles and hinges were working like they should and the gaskets were all in great shape. I am now going through the process of filling them up. If I ever need to order more I will definitely check out CTD first."
4.0 5
"I bought four on Monday and received on Tuesday, always quick! I received them in "good" condition, would've been "great" if they were cleaned up a bit (just dirty). I happy with the ammo cans, well extremely happy, because they look nice now!"
4.0 5
"I ordered 5 cans at with very high shipping and they are not as pictured. As other have said, they are very dirty, not marked 50 cal or 5.56 instead marked fuses? Under some un-matched color paint. I am ome what disappointed with CTD on this order. I didn't read other reviews until mine arrived, shame on me!"
5.0 5
"Ordered 6 of these cans during ctd's xmas special, and I'm very pleased. They shipped out fast. The seals were all in good condition as were the cans themselves. Wiped them down with a rag and WD40 and they look great."
4.0 5
"Ordered 8 of these cans from the Christmas sale. All 8 of them are covered in dirt and dust, and appear to have been painted over. Six of 8 are in fine condition, with nothing wrong other than some minor wear and scrapes. One has a small bit of surface rust under the handle, a bit disappointing but nothing major. The last one has moderate-heavy rust under the handle, on the handle, on the hinge, on the hinges for the handle, paint is bubbling from rust on the lid, and all corners of the can are rusting. Called up CTD and they're sending me a replacement can, so these still get 4/5 from me. Excellent customer service as always CTD!"
5.0 5
"I just received 4 cans, purchased at the Christmas special price of $6.25 each. Insides were clean, sealed tight and appeared new. Exteriors were rust free. They had a bit of dust and a few paint chips, as I would have expected. This was an exceptional buy! Glad I purchased 4. Three are leaving as Christmas gifts."
4.0 5
"Unlike some others I ordered these in order to receive serviceable .50 cal (size) ammunition cans in good condition.I received what I expected."
5.0 5
"I ordered 4 from the Christmas sale. All were Grade I as described. Glad I got 4!"
5.0 5
"I wussed out and only bought 2 from the Christmas sale. That was a mistake; these cans are BRAND SPANKING NEW inside. Mine had some light wear on the outer edges, but they were marked "empty" so it looks like they just got moved around and never actually got used. Both cans arrived very clean and they seal properly."
5.0 5
"Worth the money. These are available everywhere but the ones CTD has in stock are in great condition. Im using mine for a 5.56 ammo stash."
5.0 5
"Ordered 2 of these .50Cal boxes for Christmas. Took delivery in 3 days, awesome as always! The boxes are in great condition, and appear to be new. Both cans were sealed very tight and did smell of acetone, but after a few days in the garage to air out the smell is now gone. Besides abrasion from sitting in a stack the boxes show little wear. And these two both have a 1.5" slot on the front latch, perfect for a hasp style lock! As usually CTD scored again! Thanks!"
5.0 5
"Ordered 8 of these from the Christmas sale. The original yellow stenciling on the cans was sprayed over with some OD green paint. The original contents were fuses. Not sure when they were manufactured. The word "EMPTY" was stenciled in white, once on the outside and once on the inside of each can.The cans were a little dusty/dirty on the lids, but in great condition overall. Insides were clean. They made great gift boxes for Xmas presents after wiping them off. I would order more.If I was expecting 5.56MM stenciling on the exterior, I would have been disappointed."
5.0 5
"A good clean can in great shape with seal in great shape. No problems and the scuff marks were painted over. Great for storing my ammo at home."
4.0 5
"Great can. I ust received mine and is in good shape. It has the 5.56 stencil. Only thing is that it smells funky. But thanks, CTD for the great service."
5.0 5
"Can't go wrong with these Ammo Cans. They were delivered in great shape"
5.0 5
"I ordered 6 of these, and they all came in almost brand new! I think they were used once and that was it! These are by far the best condition ammo cans I have seen!"
5.0 5
"WOW... MY AMMO CANS WERE SHIPPED TO ME IN PERFECT CONDITION. THEY LOOK LIKE THEY WERE MANUFACTURED, STACKED ONCE THEN SHIPPED TO ME. THE DESCRIPTION PICTURE DOES NOT LOOK ANYTHING LIKE WHAT I RECEIVED. MINE ARE 10X BETTER. THEY HAD ALL OF THE WRITING AND SYMBOLS INTACT AND NO FOREIGN MARKS OR WRITING. RUST NONE!!! O-RING IN PERFECT CONDITION. THIS SHOULD NOT BE MARKED AS "MILITARY SURPLUS" BUT AS "QUALITY MILITARY SUPPLIES". YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, BUT WITH CTD YOU GET A BIT MORE! THANKS GUYS."
4.0 5
"I was pleasantly surprised. Three of the four were labeled with the 5.56 NATO markings, however, the other can was spray painted tan with markings that read "grenade, hand, smoke". They all had a little sand/grime in them, but a quick wipe and they're good to go. You can almost squeeze ~1400 rounds of 40 S&W in one can for those who need an idea of volume."
4.0 5
"I ordered six of these cans, just got them in. They were just what I expected. Four of the six cans had very minor surface rust, one has a dime size dent in the side and one has a bent side that took maybe 5 minutes to straighten out. I am going to repaint all of then due to scuffs and scrapes on them. Two have orange tops from being marked as light boxes and tan sides due to them having the contents changed. At this price, I will most definitely order more when I need them. If you order these, remember that they are listed as used, do not expect to get cans that are comming right from the factory, but these are completly servicable and have a long life ahead of them."
5.0 5
"I bought 3 and the condition was better than I expected. 5 bullets for these three cans, in like-new condition!"
4.0 5
"Arrived in just three days. It had a little bit of dust in it. Other than that, it works fine. Very good product."
5.0 5
"I bought two of these and they are both in great shape and work well. The rubber seal is in good shape and the paint on both are looks fine. I suppose it is possible you could get a junk one, but both of my are perfect for what I use them for. I'd get more!"
5.0 5
"The ammo can was definitely used. You could tell by the small amount of sand found inside the can. But it looks like it was used once then shipped to me. The paint was in great shape. The marking on the side says 5.56. The can had some dust on it, but that was easily fixed. I will be buying more of these as my ammo supply grows."
5.0 5
"I have bought several of these from CTD...all of them appear like new."
4.0 5
"I received this about a month ago and finally getting around to my review. Excellent can, appears to be Grade 1, no complaints there. However, the description says .50 caliber and the picture is of 5.56. I thought I was getting a .50 caliber ammo can, but instead got a 5.56 NATO can. I'm keeping it just the same, but will probably be buying future ammo cans elsewhere. The latest batch seems to be garbage from what others are saying. EDITORS NOTE: Cans are referred to as .50 cal due to their size, not the ammo they originally contained."
5.0 5
"Ordered this on a Wednesday, arrived on Saturday. Bought two of these, only gripe is the tops were dusty! I will buy some more."
5.0 5
"got this when i placed my last ammo order and it held almost 1000 .223 awesome product"
4.0 5
"I ordered 3 of these cans and they were all in excellent condition. There was millitary stenciling on them which I looked up on the internet. N285 8 FUZE MSTQ 577AI these were timing warheads for 55MM howitzer shells. How cool is that! There was a small amount of green paint covering up the stencils not very well I might add. With some good degreaser it came right off. The seals were in perfect condition also making them air tight. No rust perfect for long term storage of my ammo."
4.0 5
"Bought these for ammo and gun-related storage. They did have the contents emptied out and said empty on the side, but the cans were in excellent physical shape. No real dents, scratches, or any mechanical issues. Would've given 5 bullets, but they were quite dirty. I would buy them again."
5.0 5
"We ordered several of the Grade 1, 30 Cal, 50 Cal and Fat 50 Cal cans roughly 3 weeks ago, When received they were definitely Grade 1 as ordered.........Only issue that I have is someone painted "Empty" on the sides! Probably Govt. BS, When I opened them up, I thought that they contained air or some sort of gas and were not truly empty!!!!!!!!!!!!That said, a little lacquer Thinner on a rag and the white and yellow paint comes right off, with no damage at all to the OD Green......... Try it, makes the boxes look sharp. Will definitely purchase more. Hope that they get some 30 Cal cans in soon!"

"Had reservation about ordering because of the mixed reviews so wouldn't you know, I get one that's not as bad as a grade III but not as nice as a grade I. I would call it a grade II."

"So, I bought 4 of these about a month back and when they arrived, I too was surprised by the spray-painting, the handwriting, and the smell inside. But the bottom line with these ammo cans are that they are truly in great shape. The rubber seal inside is fully in tact and in almost new condition. They close up tight, they open up well and the best thing is... THEY HOLD AMMO! I'm not sure why people are so upset about the smell (which BTW seems to be a combination of the rubber seal and paint), or the paint on the outside. I for one am not putting these in my living room to show off to my friends. I'm storing ammunition. LOTS OF IT. And for this, they work great!"

"Just be aware that the picture posted is not a true representation of what you may receive. That's the reason I knocked off a bullet in the rating. I ordered 5 of these and would rate them as Grade 2/3 in appearance. They all have rust, have been spray painted and have the bad smell on the inside. They all do seem to function properly. Bottom line is while they don't look too pretty, they seem to do exactly what they were intended to do."

"I bought a couple of these and was very pleased with the quality and condition of the cans. They were even stamped 5.56 Ball ammo which was what I wanted. No rust, not dirty, I'm very happy... Thanks CTD"
4.0 5
"I ordered four, three were grade-1, one was lower grade-2 (tons of rust, 1/4" of water on the inside). Its what I expected. As for the "smell", its the spray paint to cover the markings. The markings are covered (the word empty written on some) is necessary so that these things don't get left out somewhere and then EOD has to come destroy it because its contents are unknown but say that its ordnance.Just spend about 5-10 minutes a can giving it a quick cleaning and they're ready for use."
4.0 5
"This is the 3rd time I have placed an order for these cans. This order gets 4 bullets and overall I believe my 10 cumulative cans would represent a 4 bullet rating. A good deal for ammo cans but be prepared to get grade III every once in a while. Most are grade I or II."
4.0 5
"My box was a grade II. Black spray paint on one side and empty written on all four sides. Took some acetone and it took the paint and the empty scribble off. Good seal and will still function as it was intended. One plus is that mine had a bandoleer and stripped clip guide with it..."

"I ordered five of these in grade 1 and they were in great shape with no rust or dents. They had a little dust and spray paint on the side and marked empty so I give it a five."

"I bought three of these cans two years ago. All three were in grade I condition. they're all still in excellent condition. I'm placing an order for three more today. Highly recommend this product."

"Ordered two of these and they were grade I for sure. Seals were in great shape and inside of can was newly painted. Ordered two more today."

"Don't waste your money on these until CTD corrects their grading; you're better off getting a guaranteed grade III can instead of paying for a grade I and getting a grade III anyway; this is the 2nd order of these cans I've made and they burned me both times. This time the 2 cans I ordered came with thick layers of rust, one with a badly bent end handle. Sure, the inside is OK and airtight but I'm sure that's the case with the grade III cans, which is what these look like. I shouldn't have to reform, scrape rust and repaint something that's supposed to be grade I. Shame On You CTD for this false advertising. Apparently CTD doesn't actually have people checking these reviews or they would have corrected whatever issue is still causing this to happen. PS I'm usually very happy with most of their products but they need to get their you-know-what together with these ammo cans!!!"

"Great cans!!! I ordered 3 of these on Thursday and they were on my doorstep Saturday afternoon. Way to go CTD. The 3 I got had some paint to cover up the markings on one side of each and empty writen on then in white pencil but who cares!!! CTD sends me stickers with each order and they look good on the side of the cans. These aren't supposed to be showpieces, just hold ammo and lots of it!!!!!!"

"I just purchased two of these cans that age grade 1, like new, more like, do you like rust! They are not worth the money. Go to an army surplus and spend the extra coupls of dollars."

"I placed an order for 1 of these cans on a Saturday along with some bulk ammo. I got notice that it had left the warehouse on Monday and it was at my door step on Tuesday with REGULAR shipping .. the can is in very good condition a little wear and tear (paint chipped) here and there but nothing major. Over all very happy and will be placing an order for another :)"

"Ordered about a dozen of these-they certainly are not grade 1.Lots of rust, dents, etc. not what I paid for. They have clearly been sitting outside for a very long time.Seals are in fair condition at best. Save your money and order from somewhere else."
1.0 5
"I bought 2 cans. 1 is dented so bad it wont even shut or stay stacked. Both are rusted pretty bad. Both have some minor surface scratches. These are grade 3 cans at best. Yeah I could probably fix them, but I didn't buy a can that could use some TLC. I BOUGHT CANS IN "LIKE NEW TO EXCELLENT CONDITION". Shop elsewhere for ammo cans until CTD sorts their grading system out."
5.0 5
"I ordered 2 of these. One was in very nice shape but the other had a dent in it that mad it not seal up correctly. I called CTD Customer Service, they were SUPER nice! Sent out a new can no charge immediately and said to just discard the other one. I will just beat the dent out and hit it with a little spray bomb and it will work fine, free can. Great people at CTD!!!!!!!!!"

"Cans arrived poorly packaged and were dirty inside and out. Some had major 'Paint Overs', rust, corrosion and dents. Not condition 1 as advertised. I won't be ordering again."

"I got this can yesterday, Its in fair shape of course its been used but over all it seems like a rugged ammo can."
1.0 5
"I bought a few of these in July of 2010 & they were great cans. Well I bought 2 more a week ago & one of them look like it was kicked all the way to my door. It was dented & warped & would not close correctly. So CTD sent me another 1 & it has a LOT of rust on it & a few small dents. I mean really? Can't someone do their job & grade these cans @ III at LEAST?? I'm not wasting my $$$ on anymore of these. I have to say the service is great but whoever rates these cans needs to be fired on the spot."

"Everything was fine with my ammo cans, seals worked and all- great to take to the range."

"Great ammo box! Will be ordering more in the near future."

"The first couple cans I bought were excellent with all original markings on the side ,but the next time I bought a couple ,the lettering had been painted over with black spray paint. Disappointing but overall the cans were still in great shape. Bought another batch and one was dented all to hell and had been painted an odd color green, basically junk so its kind of a gamble what they will send you. You may get lucky you may not. 3 bullets for that reason."
3.0 5
"Its an ammo can, made to be abused, but CTD shouldn't list them as Grade 1. I received a couple with a fair amount of rust and several dents. They'll do the job, but you can find like-new cans for less."
1.0 5
"Calling the can Grade III would even be a stretch. The only reason I'm not sending it back is because the seals are functional. That's the only good thing I can say about this; very disappointed. I will be buying my cans elsewhere from now on. You can do better, CTD."
1.0 5
"Wow, first time you guys have let me down. Rusted and bent handles. Good shape for grade II or III.Could have bought local if I wanted to be disappointed like this, wouldn't have though cause Id have seen how bad it was."
1.0 5
"Just like some of the other recent customers who purchased one of these ammo cans, this is the first time Cheaper Than Dirt has let me down. I received an ammo can that was rusted to hell, dented, and wouldn't even close!!! It's completely useless and I would have given it zero stars if that were an option.Buyer beware, unless it's a brand new ammo can, you'll just be rolling the dice...hope you don't crap out!"
3.0 5
"Uping my rating, but just a little. Got an ugly can from these guys, and after reading the reviews I decided to send them an unhappy email about it. Glad I did, got an email back the next Monday with a request of my order number, called soon after and talked to ?Terry?, she was real nice offered me a refund of the full price if I sent it back on the label they put in the order, or a refund of 8.00 if I just wanted to keep it. Chose to keep it as I had already fixed the handle and dent, and I'll just refinish it myself. Thanks ctd. Now hurry up and send me what I want to fill it up with."

"I couldn't be more pleased with the ammo cans! Instead of the older GI cans I received an ammo can that was almost completely unused with about one scratch and high quality paint on it."

"If you are going to store or transport ammo, you need to have it in a secure ammo can that can seal out the air and moisture. CTD has the best Ammo Cans that I have found anywhere! I bought several of these on my last order, and they were like brand new condition. Paint was great and the can was very clean. I couldn't even tell if they had really even been used! Most importantly, all of the Rubber Seals were in Perfect Condition. Although these cans from CTD were a couple of bucks more, they were much better than the ones that I got from midway usa. I will be ordering more! Thanks CTD and Keep up your Great Products and Customer Service!"

"I ordered another one of these ammo cans for my ammo and got it 10-08-11, when I open the box the can is covered in SAND like it's been sitting in the desert for a year with small patches of rust. Was not happy with this one, but have to clean it anyway."
5.0 5
"This can came fast through the mail ordered it monday and got it late wednesday. Excellent condition and big enough to hold all 250 rounds of 12 Gauge shotgun ammo, very good seal, but it can be a bit of a pain to get open sometimes- still 5 bullets though."
3.0 5
"l ordered a .50 cal. ammo box grade 1- it was not a grade 1. More a grade 2, mines very unhappy with my first order from ctd. This is bad advertising. I dont know if Ill ever order again."
4.0 5
"Just what I was looking for, and it came in good shape, for being a used ammo can. Just a little bit of clean up, and it's now in perfect condition. The water tight lid seal (O ring) is in like new condition. Can't beat the price for a military grade ammo can!I highly recommend the class 1 ammo cans for everyone who's interested! CTD is awesome, with there customer service, delivery speed, and prices!"

"I have ordered 2 of these now and both have arrived in good condition (comparable to the one in the picture). It does what I need it to. Good investment. I will probably buy more."
3.0 5
"Ordered one of these just to check it out, I think there might have been a mistake since I ordered a grade 1 and got a grade 3, I will still use it, it does serve it's function, but the entire top is rusted and the hinges had to be oiled just to open it. Knowing CTD when I call them they will put things straight, I know it's only a $5 difference. What I got will get the job done, but it's covered in rust... and even some red paint, still trying to figure that one out."
5.0 5
"Great ammo can! Only slightly dirty, but in perfect shape.5 minutes of cleaning, and it's like new! Great shipping speed by CTD, as always. I'm getting at least 2 more! Thanks CTD!!!"
4.0 5
"ok, so I know these are rated as GRADE 1 and not new. With that said, they arrived quickly as per CTD's outstanding shipping. The 2 that I ordered came with little to no rust except on the one's hinge, no problem, a little wire brush and primer will do nicely. Also, one of them came marked as grenade fuze's which was pretty cool, but I'll be wire brushing them and primering and painting them inside and out. Thanks CTD!"
3.0 5
"Ordered 2 of those.. first one was perfect... second one was covered in 5 different color spray paint which I would consider a grade 3. But all is not lost. Just spray painted it black."
2.0 5
"Purchased several of these ammo cans a few years back. They were great. They were sturdy and were clean. The cans I purchased recently were dirty and rusty in areas and did not seem to be built as sturdy. But have to say that they do carry ammo. Have to give them a low rating because I paid for a cleaner can and got a "well" used dirty can. I'll purchase additional cans at the local range where I can see what I'm getting."
5.0 5
"Ordered 2 50 cal ammo cans. Great shape, no dents, rust or srcapes. The lid seals was in great shape. Cans were hard to open they fit so tight. Already loaded them with over a 1,000 plus rounds for emergency. Thanks CTD."
5.0 5
"Bought these to store ammo, maps, replacement parts for firearms, blackpowder materials, and the list goes on. Cans came in like new condition and performed just as expected. Went ahead and filled the tub with warm soapy water and washed them all first, allowing them to dry, and oiling, just cause you never know what is or was in them. All cans sealed fine and work great. I'll continue to buy more as the need for ammo storage increases."

"I've ordered 5 of these cans now and they keep getting worse, dented, rusty, missing paint, covered in sand....I know they are used....but "Grade A".......shouldn't cost more than $5 bucks a-piece...just my $0.02...."

"Have purchased 4 of these now, everytime I buy a bulk box of ammo. They have all been in great shape and never damaged or rusty. Maybe its the luck of the draw, but so far mine have been just as advertised."

"First off, I would like to say that I have never ordered something online and received it at my front door so fast (about 2 days!) So kudos to Cheaperthandirt.com for that. Now as far as the two (2) .50 ammo cans I ordered, they came in great condition. Both cans were a nice military green color (not rusted) and only one (1) had military markings on it.The only reason I am giving this product four (4) bullets instead of a perfect five (5) is due to the fact that the rubber seal on one of the cans is extremely dry and contains some tears in it. However, I'm pretty sure some vaseline type jelly may keep it "water-tight" once again."
3.0 5
"Hey team ... I'm going to go with Ron on this. These boxes are great for I buy them for, to stock ammo. BUT they should really be half the price. Quality varies and the ones I received haven't been bad. I recommend buying desiccant for storing your ammo to absorb the humidity. These are great but I'd like to see the price lowered."
5.0 5
"Good clean cans. no rust. 1 can had small dent in top around lip and made it hard to open/close but easy fix. Still had .50 case links in can when I received it. Would buy more if needed."
4.0 5
"I have purchased 8 of these from CTD and I've found that the quality ranges from good to great. Some of the cans I've ordered were in like-new condition with very minor cosmetic blemishes, while others have had worn out seals and slightly rusty hinges, making them difficult to open or close without extra work on my part. In summary, a good product, but remember that these are used cans."
4.0 5
"I will have to agree it is a little pricey but it is the same price if not less than I would pay at a local surplus store, with more worn down and rusty ammo cans. Mine was in great condiditon with some signs of use, and also smelled a little but nothing a couple washings couldn't handle. Fits 900 rounds of 5.56 on stripper clips in 30 round boxes as well as 50 rounds of .308 on stripper clips comfortably. Will buy more when the need arises"
4.0 5
"Ordered one of these a while back, it came in grade 3 condition, was very disappointing, but it did still keep a airtight seal so I decided to give it a 2nd chance, I ordered 3 more and they all arrived in grade 1 condition. Not sure if they had enough complaints or if they just took a new coat of paint to them, either way they work and look great."
5.0 5
"Package arrived today. Ammo can still had manufacture date/ info on it. Few very minor specks of dirt on it. Can is like new and still has a great seal on it."
2.0 5
"This is my second order of these. First time I ordered 4 ammo cans and they were servicable and usable, but they were certainly not Grade I. CTD's description of "Grade I" is "Like New" or "Excellent" condition. The ones I received had quite a bit of rust, missing paint, and were absolutely filthy. The first batch did have good seals though. They were certainly NOT "Grade I" condition though. I kept them anyhow and didn't complain. They were expensive for the quality I received. I decided to try again and figured maybe I just got a "bad batch" last time so I placed another order for 2 more. These 2 were actually worse than the last ones and had bad seals to boot. These I'm sending back. $15 for a rusted, worn, ammo can with bad seals is pretty bad. Based on the reviews of other people here, it seems to me that what you get is a bit of a roll of the dice. Maybe you get Grade I....maybe you don't. CTD probably just figured that you can always just send them back."
4.0 5
"I've gotten around ten of these over the past year or two, and I'm happy overall with them. They always need some degree of cleaning, I've had two with some minor rust(which i wouldn't have considered grade 1) and overall I'd say they are worth the gamble, even with the multiple reports of "bad" cans that some people get."
3.0 5
"I ordered a ammo can and it was rusted on the bottom and the markings were painted over with black spray paint. I'm going to have to repaint it OD green and take a stencil to it"
4.0 5
"A bit on the dirty side but nothing a wet rag didn't fix. Would have given 5 bullets except for the huge sticker on the side that left a sticky residue w then it was removed. No dents and the seal looks fine. Easily holds 500 rounds,100 empty stripper clips, and 4 magazines with room to spare."
5.0 5
"Got my ammo can today. It was a little sticky to get open, but once I got into it and worked the top a few times, it worked great! You can tell it has been used, but I would say it was gently used because it isn't all scratched or dented. I will be buying more."
5.0 5
"This ammo can came in fast and in great condition. I had to work to open it because it was air tight. I'm up in the mountains, so pressure difference was huge."
5.0 5
"Ammo cans were a little dirty, but cleaned right up. Good product @ good price! Will be buying more. Had them 6 months or so now and they are great for the range. Cannot say enough good about CTD. Excellent products, great customer service. Until next time... keep shooting!!!"
2.0 5
"I got six of these and all of them had rust, two had spots that were nearly rusted through and one came so dented that it couldn't be closed after I finally popped it open. In short I was supremely disappointed, I would have been okay with a few dings and scratches, but none of them came close to expectations. Even after extensive cleaning and rustoleum they are no better then spare parts storage for the garage, no way I am storing $200-$300 worth of clean ammo in them!If you want perfect cans, go buy the"never issued" cans, I am sure the extra $5.00 per can is worth it if you are expecting quality..."
5.0 5
"I received two ammo cans and both are in really good condition (considering they're surplus). There are no dents, dings, or rust and the seals are tight. My cans came with the yellow ".50 cal" stenciling on the side as shown in the picture. If you get one with paint defects, you can buy army green or tan Krylon "camo" spraypaint for touch up work, or just keep the roughed up surplus look."
4.0 5
"I just received my order of 5 of these. They were in very good condition, other than a little dirt. Washed and dried them out and other than a few spots where the original paint rubbed of, looked great. Impressed enough that I ordered 5 more. Couldn't be happier. Also good delivery time."
4.0 5
"Can shuts and has a handle. Lid is removable. Mine came a little dusty (sand?). Solid can though. I lined mine with a few squares of cardboard for a little extra padding. Besides that, the price is right. This isn't rocket science."
4.0 5
"The description states the ammo can is supposed to be Grade I, when it really should be Grade II. It will still get the job done (storing my ammo), but the description is off. The can I received has rust spots."
5.0 5
"Ordered one of these to store my bulk 5.56 ammo and (while a little dusty) it works fine. No instances of rust or damage, and it opens and closes fine. Lettering is worn, but clear, and it all functions perfectly."
5.0 5
"Ordered two and expected some rust/crust. Lids are straight, very tight seals and no disappointments. Will order more and definitely recommend. Thanks again, CTD!"
3.0 5
"Bought 8 of these because they were listed as GRADE I and looked good in the catalog and online. Cans are GRADE II AT BEST, including rust. Condition is less than advertised. Buyers be aware."
5.0 5
"Great ammo box! Decent price. Fast shipping. CTD gave an accurate description. Only thing wrong with it was it wasn't delivered full of ammo, but after a quick dusting. it was full of .223. I would recommend this to anyone looking for this type of ammo box. I'll be getting more! Thanks CTD!"
1.0 5
"Looked and smelled like my three year old had just tried to spray paint it. Not happy at all."
1.0 5
"Needed ammo cans to store loose ammo in. Liked what I saw here. Ordered 4 cans and they came in poor condition. Called customer service and they sent 4 more and they were worse. The ones I got were used to paint other items on top of them. and they must have been stored outdoors. This was the only disappointment dealing with Cheaper Than Dirt, and I hope that's as far as it goes."
5.0 5
"Bought two of these to carry ammo. Everyone needs to understand that Grade I does not mean mint condition. Mine showed a little wear and I had to dump out a teaspoon of Iraqi sand, big deal. Great cans for the price. Would not hesitate to buy more!"
4.0 5
"The boxes arrived dirty, and they usually do, except the last few I ordered were really dirty. I had a pistol holster and other items that looked like they'd been in the mud. All in all, nice used boxes, good seals."
5.0 5
"My ammo can came in 3 days and in nearly perfect condition. It has no dings, dents, scratches, smells or terrorist remains. After receiving mine, I immediately filled it with rocks and sent it to the bottom of the pool for 5 minutes. After I pulled it out of the water, I noticed something very strange. The inside was completely dry! Cheaper Than Dirt really cares about getting us top notch military surplus items. I will definitely be ordering all of my ammo cans from here in the future. Thank you, CTD, for another amazing and trustworthy product!"
5.0 5
"I received this can a few hrs ago and I was a little scared after reading a few reviews here about rust. The can has about 2 spots on the lid on the outside which don't damage the box at all, seal is good. Overall I could not be happier, great can for the price. CTD doesn't disappoint."
5.0 5
"These ammo cans have surpassed my expectations on every level. No, they don't look brand new, but then again, they aren't supposed to be. All three that I ordered showed up in good condition, and after a quick wipe down, all were set to go. They seal air-tight, and I couldn't ask for more in a container to store ammunition. Shipping is a little high, although they do have some heft to them. Plan on picking up more as I continue to drift into other calibers."
1.0 5
"Ordered a few of these over the last few months and although they function and won't exactly be displayed as show pieces the quality is poor. Advertised as "Grade I - Used in like new to excellent condition" however they are clearly grade III.Also, every time CTD ships these they don't pack it right. My last order had loose bullets all over the box because the ammo can rolled around against the boxes of ammo I bought."
5.0 5
"These work well and keep a seal as advertised. In fact, if you live at a different elevation than where the container was closed last, it will sound pretty loud, and with little effort when you first open it. All three I ordered kept a seal and were in various conditions. One can had some mild corrosion, but it is an ammo can; a utility box made for...utility! The other two were pristine."
5.0 5
"Had gotten a few bad cans here before. This time, I got two fairly nice ones, one has a few dents, and the other has minor rust. Gave 5 bullets instead of 4 due to sale price- for this price, these are a great deal! And of course, thanks CTD for speedy shipping!"
5.0 5
"I've placed multiple orders for these .50 cal cans over several years. Generally, they need a little cleaning, but rarely are they dented or rusty. Recently, I received a couple that were dented pretty badly near the top rim and I didn't think they would seal properly. After contacting CTD, customer service had two replacements sent, arriving THE NEXT DAY. The bottom line is, there is little risk in ordering these because of both their original quality and the fact that CTD customer service stands behind their products."
5.0 5
"Ordered nine of these ammo cans and all were in very good condition. No rust, dents, or other imperfections. Just needed a small amount of cleaning (probably due to my OCD problem). Service from CTD was EXCELLENT, as usual."
4.0 5
"I've ordered 3 of these. One was practically brand new, one was in excellent condition, and the third had moisture trapped inside the can. Since the seal was airtight, the moisture couldn't escape and ended up with some rust in the bottom of the can. Will have to sand and spray some Rustoleum on that one. All in all very pleased, especially with the price tag. Cheapest cans on the net!"
5.0 5
"I ordered two more cans and they arrived in excellent condition. No dents or corrosion and both sealed tightly. The only thing to report is that they didn't have the ".50 cal" stenciling this time. They were stenciled with "Fuse boxes" on the top and one side. Not a problem. I repaint the cans and stencil the caliber that I will be storing in them."
4.0 5
"Ordered two, along with some ammo, to keep shipping cost down. Needed a wipe down, but in real good shape. The seals are tight and know they could handle a water accident and keep everything inside nice and dry. Very pleased with my purchase. However, my ammo paper boxes got a little beat-up and dirty in shipping. If you place a order for multiple items, be careful. They might get knocked around with the ammo can to your shipping destination."
5.0 5
"Mine came clean with no rust or dents. It was marked "N464 8-FUZE PROX m732 LOT LS-823004-019." It also had a green metal sticker on the top stamped PROXY and marked "FILLED WITH DESICCANT DO NOT OPEN until ready for use or inspection." I love it and don't care if it was used for an artillery 8 second fuse and not .50 cal ammunition. Shipped quickly!"

"Slight amount of rust, but a good deal."

"Purchased four. Two were awesome and two stunk! I cleaned them out and put dryer sheets in them to try to get rid of that funk."
5.0 5
"I ordered 6 of these ammo cans. 5 were pristine, no rust, no dents, like new. Only 1 had a little rust. Very pleased with the overall condition and fast shipping. Thanks CTD."
5.0 5
"I ordered 4 cans and got them all in excellent shape. Cans were dry and nothing inside to clean out, ready to load ammo in and store away. Will be ordering probably a half dozen more."
5.0 5
"When I got my ammo can it was a little dirty, which is normal for coming from a warehouse. After cleaning, it looked like new, but the desiccant smells. I will try baking soda like Grandma used to do to get rid of anything smelly. I'm very happy with the can. Now it's time to fill it with range gear."
1.0 5
"I ordered three of these cans. All three stunk to high heaven - I mean STUNK! They smelled up my whole house, and I had to put them in my backyard for a few days. The musty smell got a little better, but didn't go away. Just scrubbed them out and drying them. We'll see. There were also a couple of small dents in the lids, and the posts that the lids slide on to were corroded, pretty badly on a couple of them. The lids are also difficult to open - maybe because of the small dents in the lids, maybe because of the corroded posts. These should not have been rated Grade I."

"I bought three of these, and two had a very small rust spot on the outside that was easily removed with a Brillo pad. All were clean inside. Then I read an article about making a Faraday Cage and realized these would be perfect for keeping small electronic items safe from an EMP or CME, so I am ordering more."
5.0 5
"Waited too long to get some on sale. About the only reason mine looked used was the stencil paint on them. Will but more if they go back on sale again."
5.0 5
"Ordered six more and all of them were in great shape; just a little surface rust from being stacked on top of each other. All of them were clean and dry inside. I have no complaints with ordering anything from CTD. They have sent me some good stuff and shipped really fast. Thanks, CTD!!!"
5.0 5
"Can had a little rust but has wiped off easily with some Rem Oil. Other than that, excellent. I am buying more."
3.0 5
"Should be grade 11. Ordered seven .50s and six .30s. Seven cans had dents on the lip where the lid closes - covered with tape for what? Better seal. One had a dent on the bottom and is not saveable. Almost all had more than surface rust. Over the years, this is the worst product I have bought. Will not buy any more Non-Returnable Items. I'm STUCK."
1.0 5
"Received two of these cans, covered with rust and writings by a marker of some type on them. Should never have been sold as Grade 1. Should have been given away to good customers."
3.0 5
"I ordered and received two cans. One was Grade I, but the other should be Grade II and should not have been shipped. The Grade II lever lock was bent and the lid would not close. I got out the locking pliers and went to work to get the lid to close and lock. Not sure it seals, but at least it closes. Shipping was fast and some other products arrived in good shape."
4.0 5
"Mine was airtight. I know this because the can made a "giant sucking sound" when I first opened it. Some minor surface rust on the outside, but met my expectations. I took off a bullet because of the minor surface rust - it should not effect the functionality.Lt. Dan"
5.0 5
"Required only a little cleaning with wet paper towell and looks great. No damage at all and lid works well. Writing on side of can was the same as the picture. Well worth the $15."
4.0 5
"Should have been grade 3ish, but other than that it was great."
3.0 5
"Bought two cans. One was pristine and looked unissued. Other was beat to high hell and rusty? Don't know how this happened, but oh well. I'll make it work."
5.0 5
"I didn't have the same problem others did. I ordered two and both were in admirable condition. No rust, no damage, nothing at all. They seal fine and were perfect for storing my massive amounts of .40 S&W and .308 ammo."
1.0 5
"I ordered two of these cans and when they arrived just now, I opened the box and it had two ammo cans that obviously sat outside for some time. I was sent EXTREMELY dirty and rusty, dented up ammo cans with dried out seals. I own a few of these from my time in the ARMY, and I have had them for years, but they look brand new compared to these rust buckets! I have never had any problems with CTD, and I am astonished that they would sell these at all."
2.0 5
"Ordered one can and I am not pleased with what I received. Outside had rust and pitting on all faces of the can. Hinges, joints and handle were worse. Inside was in okay shape, including the gasket. If this is a Grade I can, II must have holes in it. I do not recommend."
2.0 5
"OK, these cans I got were grade 3, not grade 1. They were dirty, out and in, and rusty on the outside. With some work, they DID clean up, but I can get this quality at a gun show for a heck of a lot less money. I truly expected a lot more from CTD."
1.0 5
"I've had good luck in the past with CTD's grade I, but these were seriously overrated. They are grade III at best. Rusty and filthy. I have purchased these from other retailers for less money and gotten better cans.Very disappointed for the price. I would give $5 for these and spend an hour cleaning and painting them, but not this price!"
1.0 5
"I agree with the other recent reviewers - these are not Grade I and I'm glad I decided not to buy the "12 pack" if they too are like this. I bought one to check the quality because the price is at the top end and I expected quality to reflect it but was way disappointed. The front hasp to close it was so bent it had to be pried open and now it won't close. It's useless since I bought it to keep ammo dry in storage."
5.0 5
"This was my second time ordering these cans. Both times, the cans were in like new condition. I am leery about ordering more in the future, based on the reviews that some people got what they considered to be Grade III cans. Next time, I'll probably order the case of new cans and split them up with a buddy."
1.0 5
"Very disappointed in what arrived today. I understood these cans would be used, but these have been thru a war: rusted, dented, hinges on lid bent and out of alignment, filthy and containing dead leaves and who knows what else. I spent an hour cleaning and working the hinges free with WD-40. If these are CTD's best and like new, I would hate to see Grade II or III. Would send them back for a refund if I could."
2.0 5
"These came a mess. Rusty and dirty inside and out. One even had enough water in it to "pour" out. Not very impressed. Gun show sellers at least wipe theirs down."
1.0 5
"This was not Grade I and the locking clamp on the front came so bent it could not be opened with a pry bar. Now it can't be closed, so the container for its intended purpose (safe and dry storage of ammo) is not functional. CTD should take a look at product before shipping it. At this price, not worth the cost."
4.0 5
"After reading the most recent reviews, I was hesitant to order this ammo can, so I ordered three of the .30 cal cans and one .50 cal can. I wish I had ordered more of the .50! The .30s were in immaculate shape (for used) and the .50 was above average. It had some spray paint on the side, so that's why it didn't get 5 bullets, but there's no rust and it opens and closes with ease. There was a little bit of sand inside, but that just gives it character."
1.0 5
"I ordered three and my goal is 17. First off, one had a lot of rust in the bottom, they all were heavily dinged up, and not even remotely like new. I can use them, fortunately, but would rather buy something brand new from another site."
2.0 5
"The cans I received were definitely not Grade I. Based on CTD's grading, I got a mix of Grade II and Grade III. The better ones were scratched, dented, and filthy, but at least they would seal. The others were bent up and wouldn't seal. One even had significant rust."
2.0 5
"I ordered 5 of these ammo cans because they were listed as Grade I, but what I received was Grade III conditioned cans. I will not order anymore of these cans."
1.0 5
"These cans are simply not Grade I. I've always had great luck with CheaperThanDirt! Except the last two I ordered were very dirty, painted/dented/stickered and one had four holes in it. I am very disappointed."
1.0 5
"Dirty, rusty and dented. Definitely NOT Grade 1. Recommend you buy new cans or MTM's cans."
4.0 5
"Ordered 4 of these baby's 3 were grade 1 the other one not so much (grade 2) but still OK for the price. Shipping once again was fast thanks CTD."
4.0 5
"Ordered 4 Ammo Cans. Disappointed in the fact each can had rust on them. Could easily have been cleaned prior to shipping. I wiped off after spraying with WD40 and all is well. Integrity of can is just fine."
5.0 5
"I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews. but went ahead and ordered 2 cans anyway. just received them and they are just what i was looking for. they are grade 1 excellent condition. fast shipping as always. Thanks C T D."
2.0 5
"If this is a Grade I ammo can I feel sorry for anyone who orders a lower Grade."
5.0 5
"I've ordered 25 of these so far, and all but one were in great shape and not in need of any cleaning. One was pretty dented on one side and full of some sort of orange powder. Very happy with the condition considering they're used."
5.0 5
"This is just what the doctor ordered. Received my 2 50 cal ammo cans and were grade 1 as described. Sorry that others feel they weren't worth it. They seal, they hold, they protect. What more can one ask for?"
5.0 5
"Ordered 4 ammo cans,All cans are in great shape. As advertised,Grade 1 all the way.ordered on 3/19/13 and recieved 3/20/13,SUPER FAST SHIPPING!!"
1.0 5
"These are rough nasty cans with rust and dirt. Definitly not #1. They are functional. Bought 3 and all are probably #3 grade. Will not buy anything used again."
3.0 5
"Not Grade I. Grade II at best. Oxidation on hinges, corners and handle. Required extensive cleaning. Came covered in hardened fine dirt, but washed off. Large dents on 2 of the 3 I ordered. Gaskets seems to be intact."
1.0 5
"Ordered four cans, all in bad condition with scratches and rust. I'll just use them in the barn for something else, can't complain about the price but can dispute the grading..."
5.0 5
"Just got my grade 1 ammo cans today and I can truly say they ARE grade 1.. Not a scratch on them and they look almost brand new! As usual the shipping was outstandingly quick and came to my door undamaged. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK CTD! YA'LL ARE THE BEST!"
4.0 5
"Ordered 4; Dirty, like it had been in your garage for a year, but cleaned off. Gaskets hold an air-tight seal. As long as they are in solid condition and air-tight, what more do you want? Ordering 4 more."
4.0 5
"As advertisedGrade 1 no complaints."
3.0 5
"I reviewed this before and gave it one bullet. I was premature (don't you hate that:-)After getting off my butt and cleaning these cans up they are a very nice can for the money..."
5.0 5
"These are great! Thought that they had shipped me new ones. Great deal."
5.0 5
"I ordered 12 of these air tight cans and all 12 came in great condition. I would definitely say they were all Grade I. :)"
5.0 5
"Mine are in great condition! Definitely grade 1. Will be buying more for sure!"
3.0 5
"Purchased 2 Ammo cans and they arrived promptly. Good news: 1 Ammo can was very good condition. Bad news: 1 can was rusted in places and not nearly as good a condition as the other can ordered at the same time. On both cans it appears someone was given a OD color spray can that did not match and was told to spray out info. on one side of the can?"
4.0 5
"These used cans are OK for the price.Consider building your own desiccant ball for each can. Get a bag of silicon-gel cat litter and some pantyhose. Cut the pantyhose into pieces. Tie one end, pour about 1/2 cup of the cat litter in, and tie the other end."
4.0 5
"Good cans! Been buying from CTD for over 10 years I guess and no complaints. Always fast delivery and I get what I expect to get. These cans are good, no complaints. Not new but in excellent condition. When I need more I will order more if they have them!!"
5.0 5
"Order 4 cans late June 24, received them June 27. After washing the accumulated field dirt off the cans, they are in excellent condition."
5.0 5
"Good quality cans. Nice condition, almost new. Just dusty. Better than described. I will definitively buy more."
2.0 5
"Ordered two cans, one was decent the other was NO grade I with heavy rust, NOT Happy. Wish I could post pic here!"
5.0 5
"Ordered two cans,Had problem with one being very rusty,CTD shipped another,Very happy with customer service, thanks"
5.0 5
"Like other posters have said, my one can looks like it stored outside for a bit with mud all over. Quick wash with a sponge took care of it."
5.0 5
"All mine arrived quick and in top notch conditions. Will order again! Will recommend!"
5.0 5
"Some nicks, prob more from shipping around than field use. Mine orig held an artillery fuze (markings painted over with not matching paint). Holds 500 loose .762's or 900 .556 (in 3X 10rd stripper boxes)"
1.0 5
"Received one $15 cost a few weeks ago. Nice can. Received this one $10 cost a couple days ago. Definitely not Grade I. Rust, chewed up top edge (not sure it will seal), partially spray painted, looks like it spent a lot of time outdoors. Recommend the other one you sell. Worth the extra $5."
4.0 5
"In good condition, Grade I condition, just like described. Really like it, just wish they kept the Military writing on it instead of spray painting over it with a green paint that doesn't match."
4.0 5
"Nice Fifty Cal Can for ten bucks. Needed a good scrub. Everything works and the gasket is in great shape. Did have one ding I beat out with a rubber mallet and piece of 2X4. The Mil Spec Label was painted over but this one has been pre- purposed for my gun cleaning stuff for the next few decades.Oscar Zulu"
5.0 5
"Great can looks like it was never used. I will order another."
5.0 5
"Ordered 4 of these cans. They arrived in a couple of days and all were great condition. Used them right out of the box without having to do any cleaning. Don't understand why the military designators were painted over, But the work as well without the designators as they would with designators. Plan to but more."
5.0 5
"I looked around on the net...nobody had a price this good. I ordered 20. They were all very clean, and in good order. I ordered 10 more."
5.0 5
"Order three, will order more. Very clean, not even scratched. Shipped faster than Amazon! Very impressed by CTD and this product."
5.0 5
"Yes, I had been wanting some of these but I didn't want to pay $15 or more for one. They were shipped immediately and are really in great shape! They just needed a good cleaning. There's no dents, no rust, cleaned right up and already in use. Thanks CTD!"
1.0 5
"Said they were class 1...like new...I got class 3. rusted, dried out seals, something splashed all over them staining them..junk..i should have went to academy and bought some more Planos"
5.0 5
"I got three of these and all were solid grade ones. No dents, rust, or any damage with good seals."
3.0 5
"Though these .50 caliber ammo cans barely rate as grade I, the insides and seals are in very good condition are therefore very serviceable. The outside will display contusions, dents, dings, rust, and/or scratches, along with various nondescript stains of unknown origins, the latter of which were fairly easily treated with a simple solution of soap and water. An application of oil and light grease afterwards overall and especially on the hinges and locks will greatly improve the usability and service life of these rugged storage containers. Oh, for long term storage, do not forget to drop in a small desiccant package to protect the contents!"
1.0 5
"Ordered 3. One of them was grade one and in very good shape. Second was banged up a bit and rusty, i"d say grade 2. Third was in terrible shape and unusable. It has a bent lid, wont close properly and wont seal at all. Total waste of money."
4.0 5
"Arrived fast, would give 5 bullets for shipping. Can has just a little lite rust that should clean with just some scrubbing with oil. Seal looks nice, with no cracks or tears. Did take 1/2 bullet off, because it looks like either it was dropped from some height while full or was on the bottom of a big stack of full cans, which crushed the bottom upwards slightly. Should not affect use, but might affect stack-ability if it was on top or in the middle of a stack (if that makes sense).Would/will be buying more as needed."
3.0 5
"I received my three Grade I ammo cans (ZAA-095) . and I must say I was a bit disappointed. All three cans had an oily grime on the outside, rust lines had developed on the inside lids where the lid seats on the can sides, andthere was a fine layer of dust/dirt inside each can on the walls and bottom. Im going to have to clean them with a solvent before I can even begin to use them."
3.0 5
"Bought 6 of these cans based on the label Grade I (Used in like new to excellent condition) All have areas of rust that will now have to be wire brushed and painted. This is not light surface rust but crusted rust that will need fixing. At 14.97 plus the high shipping costs make these a poor deal and not up to CTDs standards."
4.0 5
"I wrote a previous negative review about this item, but management refunded my shipping costs for my inconvenience. This is the kind of customer service that breeds/builds customer loyalty. Thanks."
1.0 5
"Don't waste your money on these. I ordered two cans and both are rusty and dented, I would rate as grade III. They function but need lots of clean up, not "like new"."
3.0 5
"Received cans Carton in good shape.Ordered 5 cans. Four of the cans able to use, needed cleaning and all had minor rust but one looks like it was never issued. One has both sides caved in, and bottom has so much rust will not be of any use the gasket on this can is also damaged. Will not be buying these any more as I can buy un-issued cans for 4 bucks more. This must have been a mistake by the packer because CTD does not send out junk. Will do more business with CTD but not ammo cans."
5.0 5
"No rust, still seals good. Has a big crease in the steel where it appears that it was crushed but its cosmetic and does not affect usage."
5.0 5
"Great storage. Steel construction, strong and durable. Lid seat and latch make nice tight seal. Definitely will buy more."
3.0 5
"for the price its ok and does have a good seal, but i ordered 4 and every one had rust and not just a little spot probably 5 percent of the can has rust on it and thats NOT new to excellent condition, new to exellent is no rust at all i would be fine with scratches but not rust now i have to wire brush and paint all the rust areas"
4.0 5
"The first batch of these I ordered were great. No rust and everything was solid. The second batch was ok but had a few rust spots on each can. Overall I really like these for storage. All cans function well."
5.0 5
"I just love these cans! perfect for stocking up ammo or... well what ever i choose to put in. i only keep buying more, can't get enough of them. best price that i saw was CTD too."
5.0 5
"I purchased 10 of these because of the low price. I liked the first batch so much, I ordered another 10. Second batch was just as good. They were almost new, with just a few rub marks from transport. When I fill these up, I will probably order more."
5.0 5
"All 3 received in great condition. Minimal scratches, etc. May have to order more...almost full now."
5.0 5
"The can came as grade 1, was in great shape! two things kept me from thinking these were new instead of grade 1, there was a tiny amount of rust on the handle that I actually wiped away with my finger and it was covered with sand. With that being said, I was Army for 13 years, and I have seen brand new can show up to the range in a heck of a lot worse condition. took me literally 20 seconds to clean it up before I through in a couple hundred rounds. I should have bought a few more."
5.0 5
"The two ammo cans I received were in very good condition. Clean and as advertised. This is all I needed but if I needed more I would select this product again."
2.0 5
"Do not buy these cans if you are looking for authentic military issue cans like the ones pictured. What you see is not what you get. The boxes are of decent quality and that's the only reason I didn't rate lower. The writing on the cans are not authentic military. I spent 10 years in the Marine Corps. Slabs have dealt with thousands of cans of ammo. Shame on me for not stealing the empty cans so now I have to buy them. Actually, shame on cheaper than dirt for advertising a different product. Sorry, make this long story short. If your looking for authentic military style cans like pictured...DONT BUY THEM HERE."
5.0 5
"These arrived quickly and in Grade 1 condition. No rust, No dings or dents.Seals not dried out. Everything in working order.Packaged well for shipping.Very satisfied. Will buy more."
5.0 5
"I bought 6 of these cans. they are just what I wanted. they work great for stashing my ammo. I will be buying more of them"
5.0 5
"These cans are just fineperfect for the price. Yes they were dirty and full of rust, but the rust was not from the can itself and washed right out. All the seals belched a little when I opened them telling me the seals were perfect. If you are looking for a mantle decoration these are not for you but if you want the best storage containers for everything else these things are a steal!"
5.0 5
"If it is good enough for the troops. Hold ammo of different sizes and weight with no flexing or handles coming loose. Goes anywhere in the back of the truck or the trunk."
5.0 5
"Have ordered 10 cans two different times and all are high quality, in good shape, clean and functional."
4.0 5
"Ammo cans arrived in good shape, one minor dent on bottom of one can but other than that they were just fine."
5.0 5
"The can came quickly, and was dent free; when I opened it, there was rust on the inside and some on the outside. To my surprise and delight, however, all the rust was splashed on,(the can itself was NOT rusty) and easily removable with Dow Bathroom Cleaner and a rag! I repainted the can and lid with Krylon Camouflage and now it looks better than newgood value!"
3.0 5
"I ordered 3 cans. 2 of them were what I expected, the 3rd was rusty. I do not want to store guns or ammo in a rusty container. My second complaint I am just as responsible for. I ordered these because I thought they were a good deal. I didn't take into account the shipping charges. I would've been better off going to my local surplus store and paying the couple dollars more for a brand new product. In summary: "we won't be fooled again""
4.0 5
"Ordered 4 of these and all were usable. One had a a lot of rust at the bottom and some dried up grass (guess they don't even open them) but a wet towel and some spray paint fixed that right up. Another one has a dent near the top that didn't make a good seal with the lid so I hit it with a rubber mallet until it was straight. The other two were in great shape, definitely grade 1. Its military surplus after all, and its cheap."
3.0 5
"I ordered 7 cans that were supposed to be grade I. The cans came fairly quick, but 3 of the cans were damaged, not in transit, but damaged before they shipped. Two were damaged so that they would not seal and the other the hinges were bent. I called and explained about the bad cans and Cheaper than Dirt sent me three more cans. All in all a good experience. But Cheaper Than Dirt should have a little better quality control on the items that they sell."
5.0 5
"excellent product, my wife also using for some of her valuables."
5.0 5
"Cans were in great shape. Would recommend to anyone. My only regret is not buying more when they were at this price!"
5.0 5
"Ordered 2 .50 cal. and 5 .30 cal. cans. so many uses for all of them. Got them supper quick."
4.0 5
"Great deal and almost new condition. The cans i got were in great shape except 1 had a very small amount of rust outside and a very small amount of dirt inside. They are Army issue green with military markings. I guess the condition of these cans may be luck of the draw, but mine were just like the picture. If they were all like what i got, they should get no less than 4 bullets. A little bit of rust is easy enough to fix and i am going to use them on the range anyway. Maybe i got lucky but for the price, they are the best deal i have found. I will have to say that S&H is half the cost of the order. C.T.D. shipping is a rip off."
5.0 5
"Have purchased many of the .50 cans. Some were a little dirty from being stored, but all had good seals, handles, latches and were clean inside. Last batch of (4) needed nocleanup at all."
1.0 5
"Save the money and buy the lower grade can. I bought a low grade and it had rust, then thought I'd spend a little more for the grade 1 and it was worse than the cheaper one! Again, buy the lower grade can and save a few dollars. It is hit or miss, I've also heard people buy the low grade and get a new one."
2.0 5
"I purchased these same cans a couple months ago and gave them 4 stars because the 2 cans that i ordered were in great condition, just as advertised except for a little dirt inside one of them. I ordered 4 more and they don't look anything like what i got before. They are oily on the outside like someone tried to stop them from rusting, but there was some rust inside and outside. One can was in pretty bad condition. It had lots of rust inside and out. It was also dented and does not close well. It is almost unusable. I will clean them up and keep them but i won't be buying any more from CTD."
5.0 5
"Ordered 2 cans: expected to get once used cans with markings. Got 2 brand new cans! Thanks CTD!"
5.0 5
"Very happy with my order. The ammo can was in great condition, like new. Hit the rubber seal with a coating of KY, filled it up, threw in some Silica gel and away we go."
5.0 5
"After reading negative reviews I was skeptical. Received 3 cans today and found them to be as new condition. No rust, very minor scuffs, works fine. Great deal. Thanks CTD."
5.0 5
"Well, I've ordered before and is hit or miss. I got a good one this time! Like brand new. Labelled with a sticker; Blackhawk Sportster. I've gotten less than perfect, or slightly rusty before. Either way, it's a good can."
