Original Military ammo cans are used extensively in the field to transport a variety of calibers of ammunition to the troops. The cans feature a removable lid with a rubber gasket seal, flat folding handle for carrying, lever-lock lid that is lockable, and they are constructed of heavy gauge steel. These are ideal for storing ammunition and they are stackable. All the cans are used, but like new. Grade of usage varies by can. Since they are original military there will be military markings on the outside. Non-returnable. Each can is described by Grade, Grade I cans are in like new condition; Grade III are used in fair condition and may have dents, rust, paint, scratches, discoloration, and will show wear.

All Military surplus products are used, the condition of the products varies, and the quantities may be limited. Unfortunately, we can not accept backorders or returns on any surplus products.
. Surplus condition scale: Grade I - Used in like new to excellent condition.
Grade II - Used in good condition, may show minor use.
Grade III - Used in fair condition, will show normal wear and tear from daily use.

"These are in nice shape,no rust or dents."

"About 2 years ago,I bought 6 of these to use as cache hidesThey have held up extremely well to the outdoor elements of the Midwest. The only problem is that several have nylon handles which are starting to deteriorate. My best guess it they will last another 5 years.otherwise, these are great caching boxes. I like that they are narrow and can be hidden in places a 50 cal. can won't fit."

"the box was in good condition. i bought it to accessorize my m-1. the picture looks great but is decieving - the caliber info and the whole side of the can was spraypainted with a big blotch of tan to cover the original print not even neatly or anything why? i could have bought any old can but chose the .30 cal specific but it was only 6 bucks thank god"

"great quality, clean, the rubber is in perfect condition. there is only one thing that i do not like. the giant tan painted spot over the numbers. 30 min with some mineral spirits and the spray paint came right off. little touch up paint and it looks like new."

"great ammo cans for the price. mine arrived with seals perfectly intact and the aforementioned tan spray is there but its no big deal. one of the cans doesnt even have much of the tan on it at all. great deal, almost new."

"I recently purchased one of these ammo cans and i can say alot in it's defense. there was no rust, corrosion, chipped paint, and the rubber seal inside was fully intact as if new. also has a capacity of between 250 and 300 rounds. great can, exact dimensions as described. buy a few while there are still a few left!"

"Well, i ordered two of these and they both came with no dents, rust or anything that might be unwanted. Both of the liners were perfect and they did have some kind of mystery sand in them. The ammo information on the side is spray painted over with tan paint on both of mine with some letters being reconizable. I currently have some ammo in one and some random things in the other. This would also make an interesting lunch box for your kids but you may get a call from the school :D , will certainly buy more and more over time."

"Great condition, maybe the sand was from sandblasting???Wasnt happy about the random spray paint on the outside, isnt 30cal. either it clearly says 7.62mm NATO"

"My can arrived in great condition. no rust, seals are perfect looking and mine had no spray paint over the writing. I wish I had ordered a few more but with CTD's low prices i'm sure I will be making another order soon."

"The can was in very good condition, no rust and good seals. The nasty spray paint over the original markings was a bummer. Nothing a little paint thinner couldn't fix. No more markings, Oh well...I got over it! Makes a great compact tool box for my truck. I'm sure I'll be getting more! Great value for the price. Highly recommended!"

"Received my can in excellent condition. No spray paint, Clearly reads M80 (Ball) 7.62 NATO, which is, in fact, .30 caliber. Worth more than the six dollars I payed."

"Received another can today along with the 400 rounds of .308 purchased. This one with paint over the letters and markings on top, but can itself was in excellent condition. No rust or wear and stacks well with the first. These cans are sturdy and stand up to the kind of abuse we dish out."

"After getting two perfect 50cal cans a few months ago, I stopped by to picked up two 30cal cans and learned that good cans are getting rare. I almost didn't accept these since they appeared very rusty on the outside, however when I opened them they were fine and airtight on the inside. Functional? Yes, but if appearances or cleanliness are important know that you will have to sand / blast the rust and then paint them over."

"I bought four of these cans and with a $4 can of green spray paint and a little steel wool these cans look brand new. These cans are super, super tough and will probably outlast me. I am very happy with my purchase! Thanks a million!!!"

"This product gets 5 bullets for this reason. Everyone was told they have slight wear and rust. For the price they are being sold at, this is a great bargain. I think I am going to have to order a few more of these things."

"I ordered 2. One was ok, the other one is unusable at all. It is bent real bad. I tried to straighten it back but it is beond fixing to no avail ...pure junk.... I know for the price its a good deal but to get one that is bent to the point you cant use it at all thats just giving money away and I feel like it was a waste of money"

"I ordered two of these and their in fine shape. Just a little surface rust on one of them, but no big deal. The air-tight seal on both is intact. Two of these cans can store nearly a whole case of 7.62x39mm ammo. (24 boxes in each can). Order these before they become expensive and hard to find. Also, just as a side note, I found that a cable lock, like the kind they give you when buying a gun, works great to secure these cans."
– Art Of War.

"I have some of the fifty cal ones but i got one of these just because it looks cool. When i took it home i figured out it's JUST the right width for boxes of .22 ammo. They stack up perfect in there. So now i just keep nothin but .22 rounds in there. Now I don't have to dig through all the 30-06. 30-30, and 12 gauge ammo to git to my lr's in the .50 cal cans. All i have to do is open this one up and there they are. It saves me a lot of time when i have to run in the house to grab my rifle and ammo when i see some vermin."

"These cans are really too small for mass storage of ammo. Maybe small batches of ammo or other things (auto parts, etc.).Mine came with a decent amount of surface rust, but nothing that a little Naval Jelly and spraypaint couldn't fix.The price is cheap, but there are better cans available. Wish I had bought different ones."
– Turtle

"This is obviously not the bigger 50 Cal ammo cans, and is a little smaller. Although it is smaller it is still a decent military can that is durable and will hold up. It could easily store your smaller caliber ammo like .22 or something of that nature. Mine had almost no rust on it, great buy!!"
– ECHONINER
5.0 5
"This can is smaller but that makes it perfect to carry with you without being to cumbersome. I bought one of the bazooka straps (ZWN-104) from CTD and clipped it to the handle. Now I can strap the can over my shoulder and carry between 500-600 rounds of 7.62x39. The can was in great shape as well."

"ordered 2, both appear to be in good condition...upon opening them, both have moisture inside along with rust...and I mean a lot of rust...i will have to sand blast one before painting as the entire inside of the can (save for the lid) is coated in rust...these are 100% junk"
– DTM

"I use these boxes along with the .50 cal ones. I've found that the .50 cal boxes match perfectly to stack up 12ga or 20ga shells. I have a can or two for each type of ammo I have. All labled and on a shelf is the best way to do it.These cans are excellent but the price is a bit high. I can generally find the .30 cal cans for about $6.00 and the .50 cal ones for $10.00. Anything more than this and i usually don't buy them unless i need one."
– Fitz
4.0 5
"I ordered 2 of these back in late December or early January for the purpose of storing my 9mm ammo for my new 9mm hand gun. Both were in good shape, not perfect, but no rust or dents, either. Each will hold about 1000 rds if dumped out of their factory boxes. They make a great way to haul your ammo to and from the range -- especially if you want to do a lot of shooting. For any more sizeable amounts, I'd recommend the larger .50cal cans, which I may buy soon. Thanks, CTD!!"

"Bought two of these bad boys and they are perfect.came a little greasy and dirty. but windex fixed that right up.one of them seals so tight i have to use all my strength to pry it open!they look brand new once you windex them.when they first came in there was moisture in them because they seal so tight.great for putting your ammo in it.buy with confidence!"

"I ordered two of these cans and they hold my AK ammo perfectly. You can fit around 15-20 boxes of 7.62x39 ammo in each can. As for fit and finish, I have read some reviews complaining of lots of rust and dents. The two I have got have little to no rust, no dents, and perfect sealing. It might just depend on what you end up with, but overall I really like them. My only complaint is that they are a little smaller than I expected but still a great product for the price."
– Techman21

"I bought 4 of these cans and they are EXACTLY as described. A little surface rust on the outside but mint on the inside - and the hermetic seal is perfect on all of them. I really can't say enough good things about these ammo cans. Get them while they last!"
– EG

"No rust. None. Clean on the inside, little dirty on the outside. A little narrow. Will on fit one 2 3/4 shotshell...but you can stack a whole bunch in there. One box for lead, one for steal. Not as heavy as a 50 cal."

"I Ordered 2; they arrived in excellent condition. No spray paint over the original markings; almost no exterior rust. Seals are so good it takes considerable force to open them. The interiors are fresh and spotless as the day they were first issued. I will be buying more both for ammo and tool storage."

"This is the best choice in an ammo can of this size range. They have seen service so the outside will show minor wear and/or rust and only needs to be wiped down. The Inside is close to new with a good rubber seal. These are Excellent for long term ammo, parts, tool storage/transport."

"Bought a couple of the cans, like 'em, paint was great, seals were good. A little dirty and a few grains of sand in the bottom, but a little wipin' and a shakin' took care of all that. The price was well worth it. I checked the local surplus stores they wanted more for the same can and they were in worse shape. I think I'll try the .50 cal. cans next."

Good paint, very few scratches, great rubber seals- all 3 are tight. *Make sure you read the specs before you order- I noticed some other customers who left feedback stating they thought these would be bigger! 10x7x3"![storage area] just as described- no mystery!"

"Ordered two of the cans. Both arrived in excellent condition. No rust, great rubber seal, strong locking mechanisms. Their fairly small, check the dimensions in the description to get an idea of what your ordering, but works great for storing 9mm and .22LR like me."

"I think I am one of the two people on the comment section who received cans that were rusty. Not bad rust as one stated, but all 4 of the cans I ordered had rust on the outside of the cover. I was expecting "Grade I" but think I got grade II or III. The insides are all nice and they all have a good seal. Other than the minor rust on the covers, they are in good shape. You might be one of the many who actually get the "Grade I" cans. I'll try to see if I can send these back, might not be worth the hassle."

"I got four of these cans today. I ordered based on the general results reported in other reviews. Too bad - I got some more of the grade II or III - certainly not grade I. Three of four are rusted shut. I have the hinges and contact points on the latches soaking in Kroil now. They are not dented and the interior of the one that I could open was grade 1. But, surface rust on handles and corners is there on all of them. If the insides are bad, they are all going back. In my case, this was false advertising."

"I got this ammo can, and it IS NOT GRADE I.... but after looking at it closely, there probably isn't that much wrong with it. Granted it's not ideal, but for the price it's worth it...just expect to do a bit of cleaning, some painting if you want it too look good...but it will be worth it in the end."

"I ordered two of these, one for carrying ammo, and the other for putting fired brass in after shooting. I think the price is fair; considerably cheaper than the places around town. My main reason for giving it a 4 is that both cans I received probably should've been a "Grade II". Both were covered in dirt and had to be thoroughly washed, not to mention a few dents and rust. Overall, I'm happy with the product and will be buying more. Probably going to use these smaller cans for .22-.40, gonna get the .50 cal can for anything bigger. (These barely hold 500 7.62x39)"

"First of all...these cans are Used so I don't know why people are complaining. You get for what you pay for, and for the price to sit around to hold your bullets, I'd say it's a good deal. I bought six of these ammo cans. All were in great condition [almost new], some dirtier than others, a little rust, but Hey...it's used. Will plan to buy more later."

"Ammo cans came with a large (4"x8") white permanent FEDERAL AMMUNITION sticker attached on the side. It looks like something from KMART.After two (2) hours of hard work and a $10.00 jar of Glue Be Gone, the stickers came off but the outline is still there and it looks terrible.I called and "Deborah" told me to send them back and they would send a replacement. However, she said they may still have the stickers on them. I told her never-mind. No more CTD for me."

"I've ordered two of these cans, on separate occasions, and each time I've gotten good quality cans. They show minimal signs of wear, and everything on the can is in good working order. "I just bought 6 of these before they lowered the price (I should have waited 3 more days). The cans I received are not grade I as the description says. All 6 had minor surface rust in multiple spots. One was severely dented, but not enough to affect the seal or reduce the inside space too much. Not enough problems to deal with the hassle of returning them. I'll just take a wire brush and touch up the paint to keep the rust from spreading. I will probably order more, now that they are lower price and they are still a good deal."

"I ordered 5 "Grade I" cans. To me the description meant that they would be like new and in almost perfect condition. That IS NOT the case, many had substantial rust, on both the interior and exterior and were covered in spray pain and random writing. BUYER BEWARE!"

"Ordered 5 cans the other day. All cans arrived. The cans are a little dirty, with some sand here and there, but the seals are good, the latches are good, and no rust to be found. Overall, a great buy. I use the smaller 7.62 200 round cans for loose fill 9mm, loose fill .308, and loose fill 5.56. I also add some Desiccant pouches in with the rounds. Thanks, CTD! Keep up the good work!"

"Was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but figured for the price they're worth a shot. The cans arrived in two days and are like new. Some minor dirt which I cleaned up in about 5 minutes. Only regret is I didn't order more."

"I ordered four of these .30 caliber cans to store some 9mm and .45 ACP ammo for a friend and myself. These cans were listed as Grade I, but when I received my order, they were dented heavily, had black spray paint covering the yellow ammo designations, and had light rust. By the time I purchased these and paid for shipping, I could have bought .50 cal cans locally, which were in better shape. This is the first time I have ever had a problem with this company, so I still give them 3 bullets. Very disappointed, though."

"Ordered two of these on Tuesday 3/20 and received them on 3/23. Great shipping speed. Got them out of the box and they look brand new. Was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews, but these things are fantastic! Will be ordering more."

"I thought this can was very good for the price. Not very big, but it was priced just right. I was able to hold two boxes of rifle rounds, two boxes of .357 Magnum rounds, and two 5 round boxes of shotgun shells. It is good for an emergency storage container and does not take up a lot of space."

"Ordered 2. Quick ship, cans are nice/useable. One is very nice, and the other had slight rust on top which was wire brushed off and hit with crylon liquid paint. Rubber gaskets all good, no dents or dings. Will buy more."

"My 8 cans arrived today and I was pleased to find them in the shape I would expect for Grade 1 surplus as described. They are dusty and bear some paint and black marker marks, but none is significantly dented nor rusty. The seals look good. Since my wife won't let me display my ammo can collection in the living room, I don't really need new cans with pretty paint. Sorry others have not been pleased with the batch they got...I'm happy with mine and will get a couple more."

"First, CTD great service, fast shipping, and awesome deals. Out of the 14 (yes 14) ammo cans, only one looked used with some rust and added paint, but no big deal. The rest were in fantastic and serviceable condition; almost new with paint unscratched or worn. The rubber o-rings were in good condition, as well as the latches. Stackable, water/moisture resistant, and perfect for long term storage (with additional dessicant packets for added surety). Another winner from my favorite shooting sports retailer."

"The ammo can I received wasn't bad. Hardly any rust, just a little dirt and grime on the inside. Nothing a wet paper towel couldn't clean up. Closes just fine, has a good seal to it. I did put a little o-ring oil on it, which I'd recommend doing. Got mine holding about 500 loose 9mm rounds. For the price, it'll do the job."

"Not Grade A. It's old, it's rusty, it's dented, but I still like it. The important part is that when I opened it, it hissed air out so I know the seal is good. All in all, it's a fine little ammo can."

"I ordered two of these boxes. They say they are "Grade I" and the description lists what Grades II and III are supposed to be. One of the boxes I received was a bit used with small scratches, dirt, some rust, but not bad; a Grade II really. The other one had an ADDED BONUS: a quarter inch of rusty water in the bottom and extensive rust inside; a Grade III at best. Still, this price is not too bad since these things can be sanded and painted, if necessary, and will last forever while taking abuse. Just be advised that the condition of what you get is random luck."

"*** Please read before buying *** These ammo cans were advertised as "Like New shipment," and "We just got these in..." What a great way to make the buyer think they were getting a deal. I wish I could add pictures! These 200 cartridge 7.62mm NATO cans are worse than what I can buy at the local Army surplus store (visible surface rust on the lids and hinges, scratched, dented)! What a waste of money. I love Cheaper Than Dirt, but they disappointed me here! Do not waste your money! These are "Grade III" or lesser value!"
– Paul B.

"As always, fast shipping! I would rate these cans as medium grade. I got one marked blasting cap and one marked 7.62mm. The insides are perfect with the rubber seal and the outside is rusted badly with lots of scratches. Going to need a can of OD Green and some sandpaper to make them look decent!"
– Matt D

"Pristine inside - some small scratches and tiny dings, and hints of rust outside. One pea-sized dent is on the corner edge (a sharp one). Thankfully, it didn't make a tiny hole in the wall. Seals are fresh and "gooshy." I cleaned it up in 5 minutes and it was good to go. For anyone concerned with rubber seal maintenance, if they ever seem to get dry with age, use SILICONE based lube only, never just "oil." This goes for all o-rings/gaskets (except on a car's oil filter). Anyway, I'd chance this purchase again."

"I bought one of these over a year ago. More ammo requires more cans, so I bought 5 on one order. 4 of the 5 were 9 of 10 condition, the 5th was about a 7 of 10 and just needed a cleaning. All the rubber seals in near new shape. VERY happy with these. All 6 match and mate together perfectly, despite ordering 1 year apart. Not the best packing job by CTD (light on packing material), but it did arrive in fine shape.Last note, these aren't lockable without mod'ing. Keep that in mind."

"Definitely not the Grade 1 as advertised. More like Grade 3, but still wasn't in horrible condition. There was some rust on the edges and the inside of the can (will clean up), and a couple small, but deep, dents on the sides. The reason I'm rating the can so highly despite the condition is that it still seals up, still is very solid, and the paint is all original. Just by sheer luck the labeling on the side is exactly for the same ammo I was going to carry in it - 7.62mm."

"Bought the 10 pak .30 ammo cans. I store linked ammo for my Browning machine gun. The .30 cans do a better job than the .50's. Having a little age helps with the tight lids. I had no trouble with the lids being too tight. My order arrived quick. Would gladly recommend these and will buy more."

"I ordered 12 of these. Not the 12 pack because it was cheaper to buy them indivually on sale. 4 of them were in perfect condition, 5 were in decent condition (as expected), 3 of them were in not so great shape. The not so great had orange spray paint all over them and they were closed with the gasket out of place on the lid. Had to order 3 gaskets from somewhere else. I'm not sure if I'll order more from here or try my luck somewhere else. If I order a specific grade I expect to get that grade can. I don't usually leave a rating this low but based on my experience, it's valid."

"Ordered six of these, and while they are in nice condition they are "Grade One-ish" not really grade 1. One was dented on the side, not badly but clearly dented. Two had salty sand in them, which washed out. Four had some paint missing, not much and mainly inside, but missing. Two had some rust on interior corners and edges. Not a lot, but enough that I needed to clean & paint to make sure it wouldn't get worse. Overall a great buy for the price, and in pretty good shape, just not a real Grade 1. Grade1 should have NO rust, NO dents, NO missing paint, right? And no extra sand in the can?"

"Have Purchased .30 cal ammo cans a number of times before from CTD. Price, Quality, and Delivery is usually Spot On. These are advertised and sold as a used product. This order 3 out of 4 Cans showed some Minor Scuff marks with original MFG markings. A light Wash with Acetone removed the markings and brought the cans back to like new condition. The 4th can had Misc Markings in Paint that doesn't come off. But it's no biggie. As Usual, a Good Purchase from CTD."

"I purchased 4 of these because they were exactly the width & height I needed to put 2 side by side stacked 2 high in my gun safe. Three of them I would say were in grade I condition (used, but like new), but based on CTDs grade description, one was in grade III condition if not worse. Although the outside of it had no rust or holes in it, it had 1 to 1 cups of damp / wet sand inside, which caused rust to bubble up and accumulate on the inside of the can and might have increased the shipping cost of the order as well. If I could go back and know what I know now, I would not have ordered these. Unless you are a gambler, I would not recommend ordering these because in my opinion you take your chances on whether youre actually getting grade I, as described or grade II, or even a grade III."
