"Well this ammo is good, haven't \"chronoed\" them, but they no longer have the NATO stamp on the case and probably aren't NATO spec without that stamp, no big deal, but if U want NATO-spec ammo I don't think this is anymore....."

"Awesome ammo for the money! Goes where I aim it and never had an issue of any sort with it. Pretty much all I've fed my gun."

"I took these out and shot 40 rounds through my bushmaster AR-15 with a 22\" bull barrel 1:9 twist. The accuracy was alright not as good as Horandy VMax .223 but better than Rem. Umc .223. the thing that concerned me was 5 out of 40 rounds the primer blew out the back of the bass when fired. the primers jammed my gun up and i had to remove the primers from it because they fell out into the guts of my gun."

"Fired over 80 rounds through my M&P-15 with no issues, great buy."

"I have fired over 1000 rounds of this ammo without so much as one hiccup. The XM193 was manufactured for the military at NATO specs but the contract was canceled with Federal. It is more accurate than most other military surplus and burns cleaner also. Beware! The XM193 is loaded to military specs and is not safe to fire in a rifle chambered only for the .223 sporting cartridge. The chamber pressures are too high for a sporter and you can damage your rifle, or worse, yourself!"

"This has proven to be a very reliable round for my bushmaster and stag arms AR15s. much cleaner than the cheaper stuff, no jaming or duds so far (600+). the price seems to be good for a lake city round. I've paid more and got less."
3.0 5
"It depends on the rifle, but contrary to popular opinion and CTD's description of this round, 5.56 and .223 are not identical rounds. Most 5.56 chambers will accept .223 without issue, but not all .223 chambers are built to function with 5.56 milspec loads. 5.56 milspec (which this Lake City stuff is) is loaded to a higher pressure and has a longer \"leade\" than a .223. Which may explain why some see primer blowback or other malfunctions. Be sure your weapon is rated for 5.56 before using it!Check Wikipedia"

"Used several hundred rounds through S&W M&P with no problems at all. Very accurate boat tail. Made in America not other countries."
4.0 5
"I shot 120 rounds of this last week no problems very accurate. Make sure you barrel is chambered for 5.56"

"Stuff won't fit into my Galil's magazine, I'm able to fit three round (including one in the chamber) and it fires alright. Won't cycle properly in my Bushmaster. I guess if you into making your rifle a singleshot, knock yourself out."
5.0 5
"Shot a few thousands of those rounds. Extremely accurate and clean ammo. Cycled perfectly fine in my Kel-Tech, Bushmaster and Mini 14 (I clean and oil my rifles after every shooting session)."
5.0 5
"I've put about 600 rounds of this stuff through my RRA midlength AR. I'ts as accurate as any 55 grain FMJ that i've used and burns clean. Hard to beat at this price."
5.0 5
"This is GREAT ammo. I've shot several hundred rounds without any trouble. I have three rifles that shoot .223 or 5.56. My Sig 556 will eat anything I'll put through it. I have a Daewoo DR-200, the PC version of the S. Koren K-1 or K-2 and a CZ mini mauser. My Sig and CZ will nail what ever the cross hairs are fixed on at 100 meters. But, my Daewoo does not like the heaver rounds and will do well with a 6 inch group on 55 grain rounds. Now for the 5.56 vs the .223 debate. 5.56 is metric, or NATO, and the .223 is the ASE messure. The 5.56 NATO is military spec and is a little hotter than the standard .223. If I have a .223 rifle that can't handle the 5.56 NATO, I'll be seling that rifle."
5.0 5
"I've shot around 1600 rounds through my rra tasc rifle,no problems, clean burning,no duds or misfires, overall very pleased."

"Great ammo. There have been some rumbling on line concerning the compatibility of this and other 5.56 ammo with Ruger Mini 14s. So I called the Product Service department in Newport, NH and was told that all Mini 14s are chambered in 5.56 ( even though .223 is stamped on the receiver ) and that XM and X193 mil spec ammo is just fine. I was told by them it should be avoided in the Ruger Target Rifle."
5.0 5
"I shoot 200 rds. for this ammo on my RRA AR15..I've got no mis fire at all....5 star for this ammo."
4.0 5
"Out of 500 rounds fired between a Bushmaster Varminter, an XCR, and a SIG556, I had only one failure to fire (it worked on the second strike), and one underpowered round which caused a failure to fully extract. I know it was the ammo because none of these weapons have had a failure otherwise."
5.0 5
"My Bushmaster loves this stuff. Shoots it all day long without a problem. I'd write more but I'm off to scrounge up enough money to buy another case before they change the price..."
5.0 5
"Function flawlessly in my 2007 mini 14 for over 200 rounds out of a thousand pack. My mini likes to jam with cheap .223 ammo, not with these. The rounds never, never fail to eject. But I have yet to test their accuracy with a scope..."
5.0 5
"I have used this ammo for my bushmaster carbon 15 pistol and at least fired about 600 rounds of this stuff and haven't had one jam!!!! I would definitely recommend this ammo for anyone that has a bushmaster ar 15 pistol."
4.0 5
"I\"ll gladly use this ammo,as it's the same ammo our boys are using \"over there\". If \"looks\" are any indication of how well they'll go downrange than I'll have no problem with this case I just received. Checked the first 100 rnds. and yeah, they have a few dents and dings here and there and no their not pretty, but who gives a rats?..,they don't know any different. All of them are seated and no crimps, primers are flush, etc.,I can't wait to get to the range and I'm sure they'll perform...just like they are supposed to. I'm already planning on stocking up on more."
5.0 5
"Absoluty FLAWLESS,I fired ten boxs,no miss fires or problems ejecting out of my Rock River CAR 4.Groups of 3 at a 100yds with my EOTECH you can almost cover with a nickle.Very clean burning!!!!!!"
5.0 5
"I read a rifle review about the Bushmaster Varmiter shortly after it came out. The reviewer claimed to be able to achieve a .25 in group at 100 yards using specialty ammo (40 grain moly coated hand loaded rounds).I was able to duplicate the same results, on a constant basis, using the Federal XM193 with my Bushmaster Varmiter. I have fired thousands of rounds XM193 with no misfires. Maybe it's not top shelf ammo in a colorful box, or recommended by your local SWAT team, but if I can hit ping pong balls at 150 yards I suppose it will do, and do nicely."
5.0 5
"Have shot about 4,000 rounds through my Bushmaster and never missed a beat. Perfect ammo. Won't buy anthing else."
5.0 5
"I am shooting sub 1\" groups with this ammo out of a S&W M&P AR-15 with optics I just bought from Cheaper than Dirt and put on it. Zeroed it at 100 yards and ran about 200 rounds of this down the tube and it goes bang every time. Not even a challenge anymore to shoot the orange bull out of the Shoot-N-C targets at 100 yards anymore. This ammo will probably be all I ever buy for that rifle because it sells here almost a dollar cheaper than at my local gun store."
5.0 5
"This is a great round for home defense. Stock up, and up, and up, and buy a few more boxes just in case. Thanks CTD!"

"One of first review stated that xm193 must not meet nato specs because it lacked a nato head stamp, the ss109/m855 was the round that NATO decided to adopt as the standard by multiple nations using ARs,and other various weapons built around this cartridge, but the British had to download the ss109 for reliable function in their SA80 bull pup weapon. The NATO headstamp is just a proof mark that proves it was manufactured at a Nato facility, here's where where the glitch starts, the U.S has it`s own Mil Specs for the m193 and the m855, but the ss109 manufactured by the British may be underloaded enough so as not to cycle in the AR, and there was some of this surplus ammo floating around a few years ago. For everything you ever wanted to know about Ammo for the ARs, go to THE AMMO ORACLE, very informative. I gave the L.C.a 4 rating because there is a lot of surplus ammo out there good performance and nice and shiny"

"Great ammo at a great price for 5.56 shooters. The rounds don't look that clean, but I didn't have one malfunction in 100 rounds through my new Ruger ar-15. Some higher priced stuff I was shooting the same day would give me tighter groups, but for target practice these certainly fit the bill. Bravo to CTD for giving us some great 5.56 ammo."
5.0 5
"Here's the scoop. I was shooting this stuff back when it was $5.00/box and I'm still using it today. The days of cheap ammo are over friends, but the quality of this stuff remains the same. This is probably or at least in my opinion the best 55 grain/.223 ammo you can readily get. And please, to all of you who complain about the dirty brass. Lake city does not tumble and clean the brass!! This has nothing to do with performance. Your not going to get match grade results with this stuff and that's not what it was intended for anyway. It's fun to shoot and very reliable, that's about all you can ask for."
3.0 5
"Good ammo. I just received mine today and came back to leave a review. I saw the price has gone up from a week ago. I would gladly pay the money I did for another case. But I would reconsider it at today's price. It went bang 100 out of 100 and no jams. I guess that's what really matters. I bought a full case that smelled bad of mildew, and the brass was pretty tarnished. But I would buy again if price drops."
5.0 5
"Extremely accurate and clean ammo. Been using it for years, not a single FTE. Heavily overpriced, wished it was for less."
5.0 5
"I just shot this ammo against 15 other types and brands today. It shot .75\" groups. The second best of the day only to the Gold Medal 69 grain match at .375\". After shooting all the other types my conclusion is I will buy, and shoot only this ammo for my rifle. The only hitch is that CTD has to drop the price to what I bought it for a couple weeks ago. Other than that is it probably no different than any other M193."
5.0 5
"Got a few boxes of this stuff a couple of weeks ago. For what you're doing with it (targets at 100-500m), then you can't go wrong. Who are these people giving this stuff 3 and 4 bullet reviews? This is great bulk FMJ ammo. I just wish I bought more when I did."
5.0 5
"I had bought 200 rounds earlier and sent them down range. Great for plinking and can be used as a good self defense round at <100 yards. Is it THE most accurate round out there? No. Will it do what I want it to do when I need it to do it? ABSOLUTELY! Price just went down 30% and bought a case."
5.0 5
"I just noticed I got an email notifying me of the 30% price drop on this ammo, I decided to take advantage of it last minute. I ordered a bunch on the 22nd, and my shipment got to me today on the 24th. I couldn't believe it got here so fast, and I live in Pennsylvania. I love FedEx, they are hands down the best delivery service. They get your shipment to you ON the day listed or earlier, unlike UPS were you can almost pretty much guarantee that your shipment will be delayed for something stupid and minor. Thanks CTD, I love you guys. and thank you FedEx. And great ammunition by the way too. Get it while you can."
5.0 5
"My AR-15 loves this stuff. It is very close to the more expensive stuff. I haven't shot any at over 100 yards, it but seems good so far."
5.0 5
"This is Grade A military ammunition. It's really good ammo and probably worth the price flux, but they should leave the price alone. Very clean stuff. I'm about to get another 500 rounds."
4.0 5
"I throw these things out of a Ruger Mini-14T, and can cover the group with a quater at 100 yards. I have a friend who has an orignal Colt AR-15/M16, and these did not cycle through his in full auto. But the cheap Wolf and the like did fine with it. My step-son, who carries an old AR, says the same thing. He also says my Mini is more accurate than his service weapon. Go figure, I hope this might help out some of you AR guys out there."
5.0 5
"Works fine in my DPMS M4. When the price is low, I buy a lot. :)"
5.0 5
"This stuff works great out of my Bushmaster. Its very clean and the price is great."
5.0 5
"I shot about 200 rounds. They are very accurate, I recommend this ammo."
5.0 5
"I only buy 2 brands of ammo for my AR....and this ammo is my #1 \"goto\" brand. This brand is very accurate, very clean, and fires consistent groupings @100yds, all day long. Not ONE problem with this ammo, even after thousands of rounds through my Stag Arms AR15! Great stuff, great prices!"
5.0 5
"Great ammo. Shot thousands of these back in the day while in the marines. Accurate, clean and good brass. Keep the good job Federal and hopefully the communists that run NY State and the country will not ban the good ammo. Support our troops, our police and fireman. God bless America."
3.0 5
"I question this being advertised as new production. The cases looked as if the were reloads and looked as if they were fireformed. The brass cases had strange metal flakes incorporated into the exterior finish. In 50 years of shooting and reloading I have never seen this before. I have not commited myself to shooting these as of yet. I am sure they are safe because there are no cracks or visible defects at the neck of the case. I wont buy these again."
5.0 5
"Just put 100 rds thru my DPMS AP4 panther and there wasn't one problem. I just wish I ordered more at the time. As some have stated, the brass looks unpolished but this came from the military production line. If this was classified premium and the price was higher, then I might be concerned, but these round's are for function not display."
2.0 5
"Eh, not so much on the quality. Just so so. They go bang. That's about all I can say. I discarded a few from each box. Some were split or pitted. I won't buy more. Sorry CTD."
5.0 5
"I went to the range today and it was the first time using this ammo. It functioned like a champ in my Bushmaster. I sighted my new Leupold VX 2 using this ammo at 75 yds. It only took me 12 rounds to zero it in. Buy it, you won't regret. I'll be buying more. Thanks CTD!"
4.0 5
"I have ordered these months ago and they were awesome. They were headstamped \"L.C. 06\" with a NATO headstamp. I reordered recently and the bullets are still awesome, but they are marked \"L.C. 09\" with no NATO marking. I will still buy again."
5.0 5
"I bought several brands of ammo to try in a new Mini-14. Minis are not the most accurate rifle out there, so I wanted to see what would produce the best groups. This stuff worked like a charm. The best 5 shot group at 100 yards. was less than 1 1/2 inch. The stuff that was more in price didn't shoot but 2 inch groups. This was rested from a bench shooting. I bought a case after this trip to the range. Good stuff, I will buy more."
5.0 5
"This is a classic. Fast, clean, and accurate. Great brass too.ARs are made for this and this is made for ARs."
4.0 5
"As others have posted, this is not the pretty shiny stuff, but feeds perfect, accurate and goes bang every time."
5.0 5
"1 inch groups at 100 yds with a M&P 15T AR - very ACCURATE. This will be my main ammo until some other brand can out match the the accuracy and price."
5.0 5
"These rounds fired fine, no FTF or FTE. Accurate enough to get the job done and the brass if fine for reloading."
3.0 5
"This ammo is not worth your time or money. The brass is dirty with black sticky junk on them. I had expected better quality but instead I threw away 6 bucks and this stuff in the trash. Do not buy this ammo."
4.0 5
"I have read the reviews for this ammo, and I agree with almost all of them. This is a great round for the price! I fired 200 rounds through my new S&E M&P AR15 and they were fantastic. No jams, bullseye each time (when using a rifle rest) at 50 yards. Will buy again!"
5.0 5
"This is your typical 5.56 XM193. Accuracy is good, the brass was clean, and they all went bang (WOULD EXPECT NO LESS FROM FRDERAL). The price is right and these rounds do what they were designed for."
5.0 5
"These work great in my Bushmaster but the price has gone up Better buy what you want now. Ammo prices are on the rise again."
2.0 5
"I have used federal ammunition in the past and had decided to purchase this for a brand new DPMS sporticle. I took it to the range yesterday and it would not cycle correctly. The initial round would fire and the next would feed and the pin actually struck the primer on two separate occasions. I was forced to partially pull back the charging handle in order for the trigger to reset. I ran only 40 rounds through the rifle and had to clean it due to heavy fouling, especially in the gas tube. Two range instructors looked at it and both said the malfunction is due to the ammunition. I don't know if anyone else will have the same problems as I did, but be aware. I will spend more money on Remington or Hornady for now on."
4.0 5
"This is really great ammo! Ordered 500 rounds. So far I've fired 160 of em and not a single misfire! Really accurate on my Kel Tec SU-16CA!"
5.0 5
"I bought this ammo trying to save some money, man am I glad I did. If you just want to go the range you can't beat the price. I shot 1,000 rounds, not 1 jam in my Bushmaster M4A3. And as always CTD with their speedy service."
5.0 5
"My only regret was that I limited my purchase to under $100. Every bullet fired with no noticeable flaws in performance. The casings themselves don't look like shiny, highly cleaned brass normal commercial brands would pack. I sure as heck don't care if it looks smudgy, because it wasn't gunked up, and it all worked beautifully, cheaply."
5.0 5
"My Colt M4 loves this stuff, cycles well and very clean. Great 'bang' for my buck!"
5.0 5
"We just built our first AR-15 the other day. I'd bought this stuff solely on others reviews. And I can honestly say: WOW! This is awesome ammo! Clean, accurate, and priced right. No feed or fire problems at all, it worked great. There may be better, but at this price, why bother? I WILL definitely buy more. Thanks CTD! Diamond B Gunsmithing & Sales L.L.C. Salina Kansas."
5.0 5
"I puchased a case of this ammo based upon reviews and will have to say......love it, I have shot 250 rnds with no problems what so ever......great stuff.....CTD, as always on time and great communication."
5.0 5
"Took 1000 rounds with me for a weekend course and they were great. Not a single problem. I would buy these again for training."
3.0 5
"I basically bought these for the brass. I was disappointed by these because I had two misfires in the first box and three in the second. The price was certainly right, but I shudder at the thought that these came from the same factory as the stuff our fighting men use on a daily basis. I hope that there aren't any misfires overseas."
3.0 5
"I purchased a bunch of this back in mid march. I was at the range a few weeks ago putting rounds through my AR and had probably 5-6 failure to fires with this stuff out of 100 rounds. I looked over the rounds and only one of them seemed to have what I would classify as a \"light primer strike,\" So I am fairly sure this was an ammo malfunction and not my firearm. I got input from two other shooters who were present; one told me maybe my gun was gunked up because of the black tar residue on the rounds (it was in fact on the ammo when i bought it, as the gentleman below me stated as well) and the other guy looked over my firearm with me and said that everything seemed to be working right to him (examined the firing pin, bcg, hammer spring strength, etc) and then gave me a stripper clip of the ammo he was running at which the gun ran fine and told me he believed it was the ammo. With all that aside the ammo had no other issues and was accurate and priced right. Maybe I just got a bad batch or something. If I end up finding an issue with my gun I will make another review and rate the ammo 5 stars."
1.0 5
"This ammo is a P.O.C.Went to to range and couldn't fire auto becauseof poor rounds.Had 5 Fail to Fire out of 90 rounds.Sad thing is: I have 310 MORE rounds of POS ammo.Avoid this reload!"
5.0 5
"Great ammo for the price. I used these to get some Hogs down in Texas. No Jams or misfires."
5.0 5
"I got 5 boxes, they work great fired out of my sig 516. I didn't have any jams/ftf."
5.0 5
"I have yet to have a misfire or a pop no kick with this ammo. I have no problems hitting targets at 500 yrds with my AR-15 Varmint rifle with this ammo. It is the same ammo I learned to depend on in the military. If your using an M-16, M-4, AR-15 and your having problems with this ammo it's probably your rifle. Take your bolt completely apart and clean it properly. Don't forget these weapons require gun oil to function properly. Keep them clean and maintain it correctly and I bet this ammo will function properly for you as well."
4.0 5
"I purchased 200 rounds and have shot half. Had no issues with my Bushmaster AR. The brass appears a bit tarnished from the annealing process, with brown/black spots on most of them, but I had no issues from this so far. It's quite accurate from my experience. I will be buying more."
5.0 5
"It's cheap. All fired and not very dirty. Good buy."
4.0 5
"This is wonderful stuff. Cycles great! Should have bought more!"
5.0 5
"This is great ammo! I have about 1,000 rounds of this stuff in storage and have fired many more. The price on CTD is too high and the shipping is too high. I found these exact rounds for $7.49/box on another site. I bought 20 boxes with shipping of $9.00 flat. It didn't go up every time you added an additional box. CTD always ships quick and doesn't hide their shipping prices. I've always been happy with CTD, but on this item, not so much. I gave the ammo 5 bullets, not CTD. I will shop around from now on."
5.0 5
"this is some great ammo I took my new DPMS Panther arms 5.56 AR 15 to the gun range yesterday for the first time i fired off 600 rounds without a problem the grouping was amazing all within 5 inches 75 ft I was at a indoor gun range it's too hot in Texas to be outside right about now lol.... is my first time ever shooting AR 15 even though I love my AK 47 the 7.62 x39 awesome gun and I love it.I have to say I was pretty impressed by the AR 15 even though it has a small around it is one heck of a rifle especially with the rounds that I pump through it yesterday I was actually trying to mess it up because the AK take some punishment but the AR 15 held up..lol.. but yes I recommend this animal its pretty good I love it that's all I'm going to buy for my AR 15 now.. I gave it five just cuz I love them all and its my first time with AR 15 and I like the boxes that they come in easy to throw away and carry nice little cheap little box for some greatt ammo no fancy box no fancy colors just great ammo and a paper box thumbs up ... AJ from Texas ..."

"This is good ammo I would give it a 5 star rating if it was lower in cost."
4.0 5
"I put one box thru my 16in 1:7 twist carbine. At 50 yds, (bench rest) It key-holed! At 200yds, it made a 4in group. This was bench rested with iron sights. I believe it would have grouped much better at 200+ If I had optics."
5.0 5
"I just love this ammunition. It shoot flawlessly in my M-16 full auto and has some real power. I use these rounds for self defense and for target practice. The price is right too."
5.0 5
"Received 30 boxes clean and right. Good quality get them while you \"still\" can. Thanks to CTD."

"Really good round put of my Adams Arms Gas piston upper on my ar15, no feeding ejecting or firing issues"

"Good once I got got my scope zeroed in. Was going thru a 8\uFFFD8 inch quarter inch plate at 300 yards."
