Federal has the right lead free ammo for you. One example is this Ultra-Shok Heavy High Velocity Steel, designed to take down those big birds. This variation, in 12 gauge, has a 3-1/2" shell loaded with 1-1/2 Oz of #3 steel shot which it fires at 1375 fps.

Speed and power is what it's all about. With High Velocity Steel you've got the fastest steel load on the market that's quicker to the target for shorter leads at longer ranges and harder hitting on impact. There's no question speed kills when it comes to steel shot-but it doesn't hurt to have some extra payload. Our HHV loads are packed with heavy shot charges and still driven to lethal velocities. They're the fastest heavy loads you'll find and should make you look good in the blind.

25 rounds per box. To buy a full case, order 10 boxes.

"Having gone entirely to my 3 1/2\" 12 gauge for waterfowl hunting -- especially since noone seems to make 10 gauge steel rounds in #3 shot anymore -- I've been delighted with the field performance of these loads, especially for big, well-feathered late-season ducks. Before steel became required back in the 1980's, I was confident with lead out to 40 yards, and occassionally knocked a bird down a bit farther on follow-up shots. I never had real confidence in any steel loads until getting my hands on these. Over the last three years, I've taken about 130 ducks with these steel loads, regularly out to 55 yards, with fewer cripples than I ever had with lead \"back in the day\". And personally, I've become sold on #3 steel's ballistics. These are very reliable killing rounds."
