"I have owned an EOTECH 551 for about nine months. I also own an Aimpoint M3. I mounted the 551 on my Yugoslavian M70 AB (under-folding AKM). For starters, I'm one of those people who plans ahead and practices redundency. The reason I bought the AK in the first place was that it is the one rifle that one can grab and go with in dangerous times. The one weakness in AKM is the the sights. There is a short distance between the receiver-mounted rear sight and the front sight. The sights are also crude and not designed for detail work.So I saved my money and bought a mount and the EOTECH. The EOTECH is extremely easy to mount. Once mounted it stays rock solid. The protective casing on the EOTECH is exceptionally tough and protects the optics and electronics very well. The best part of this sight is the reticle it projects. The EOTECH is based on the same technology responsibile for the heads up display in fighter jets. The reticle is similar to a fighter's reticle. All one has to do to bring it on line is to touch one of the brightness arrows and shoulder the weapon. The shooter's eyes are drawn to a bright red reticle. Line up the reticle and shoot. That's it. The 551 also has a single button night vision mode so if one is out at night and wearing night vision, one would simply press the NV button and keep going.Once the sight is properly zeroed, your rifle becomes a true point, shoot and hit rifle. The sight is parallax free and can be viewed under any conditions. That's why my EOTECH sits on my worst case senario gun. As for the Aimpoint, it is mounted on my M-4 carbine. It is nice for close in work but is not nearly as instinctual as the EOTECH."

"I use an EOTech 511 on my M4. Best holographic sight I have ever used. The outer reticle is exceptional for MOUT situations (put the baddie in the circle), and the center dot works great for those 300m+ shots.Low profile sight, great field of view, and ultra tough. When I used an Aimpoint CompM2, I would catch it on my gear, and more than once the sight would twist in the mount.None of this with an EOTech. ONLY downside is that N batteries can be kind of hard to get. If you're in a situation where you can't get N's very easily, I would get the EOTech 552 that uses AA batteries, or another model that uses the batteries you prefer.I trust my life to my EOTech."
