Original Military ammo cans are used extensively in the field to transport a variety of calibers of ammunition to the troops. The cans feature a removable lid with a rubber gasket seal, flat folding handle for carrying, lever-lock lid that is lockable, and they are constructed of heavy gauge steel. These are ideal for storing ammunition and they are stackable. All the cans are used, Grade II condition. They all have many years of use left in them, and since they are original military there may be military markings on the outside, rust, dents, scratches, discoloration and they may need to be cleaned. Non-returnable.

All Military surplus products are used, the condition of the products varies, and the quantities may be limited.
Surplus condition scale:
Grade I - Used in like new to excellent condition.
Grade II - Used in good condition, may show minor use.
Grade III - Used in fair condition, will show normal wear and tear from daily use.

"I got mine today and I was surprised in the condition, the rust was minimal , cleaned of with steelwool and no major dents maybe a minor ding or two, and yes there were some sratches in the paint but no big deal got 2 cans of OD Green to fix that."

"Ordered a 50 and 30 cal box, both came in good condition, no dents or dings. No rust, just a little dusty, perfectly clean inside."

"I just got my second order of these and they are just as good as the first order I placed, actually even better. Minor surface rust, no dents, and a few scatches in the paint, all fixable with some steelwool and 400 grid sandpaper and some OD green paint. I ordered on Monday got them today on Wedesday, couldn't ask for more."

"I ordered one of these just to see if it would be good or not... I'm placing another order for 4 more and i can put 800 rounds of .223 in 20 round boxes in this thing ... btw mine looks better than the one in the picture... its a good deal don't be afraid."

"Cans have slight rust and tan spray paint over letters to conform to resale laws. A little WD40 and wire brush will remove most rust and tan spray with a little elbow grease. Great item for the price!"
4.0 5
"Very dirty, and minimal rust. Cleans up nicely and still has an airtight seal."

"I was prepared to sand and paint all 3 and all I had to do was brush them out! Awesome cans, barely used and well worth the money!"

"I bought two of these now and the both are in good shape.A little rust on the handle but that is it.For the price you cant bet them much bigger than a 30cal can."

"the shipping from CTD is so quick. mine came with very very little rust and no dents. i was going to repaint it anyways so just the little rust doesnt matter. if u need a ammo can then buy this one."

"IT LOOKS LIKE EVERYONE THAT WRITES A REVIEW HAS RUBBER STAMPED THESE STORAGE AMMO CANS, MINE WERE IN VERY GOOD SHAPE VERY LITTLE RUST FEW SCRATCHES,I EXPECTED MUCH WORSE, I'LL BUY MORE."

"This came in much better condition than I anticipated. Almost no rust at all. I wiped it down and it looks as good as new. CTD also shipped it with a quickness that you typically don't see with similar sites."

"The two I ordered were in much better shape than I thought. A little hot soapy water and a little WD-40 and they cleaned up real nice. Good buy."

"Mine arrived with no dents or rust. Maybe I got luckier than the rest. Would definitely order more."

"I must have misunderstood Grade III description. I ordered 1 and it was slightly used at best. Nothing like the rusted out one in the picture. Very pleased overall."

"I got this box 2 days after I ordered it and besides having some orange spray paint on it, it was in really good condtion. I was happy with the way it came in. No rust, a little dented here and there but not too bad and some scraches too, but worth the money."

"I have bought several of these cans from CTD over the last year to store my ammo, and other stuff. These cans show some wear, maybe a little loss of paint, but hey - they're used, so it's to be expected. All the cans were in good shape with their seals in tact. Most were a bit dusty/dirty from storage. No big deal. With a little cleaner and a few paper towels they were perfectly fine. These cans are a great bargain at a great CTD price! In fact, I have a membership at another website and these prices beat the member discount at the competitor. Don't think long and hard -- just buy these if you're in need of good, used mil ammo cans!!!"

"Can was just what I expected, I'm using this one to store .12ga shells for easy carry. Can needed a nice clorox wipe before use, but that's what I expected from use. Nice nicks and character marks on it too."
5.0 5
"I titled this \"You've GOT to be kidding me!?!?!\" because that is how I feel about CTD. I placed an order on the 9th and I got it on the 11th! The can I got was in awesome shape for a grade III. Small amount of rust, a little orange paint, but otherwise, in great shape! I intend to buy many many more of these! I have purchased a lot of items from CTD and I don't think I have ever been disappointed yet! (knock on wood)."

"It is a simple ammo can to hold a ton of ammo. I am very happy with this item. It was a lil' dirty and worn, but still great!!!"
5.0 5
"I've ordered several of these and have yet to get one that is not in \"Very Good to Excellent\" condition. The seals look like new as well. Great value for the bucks!"
3.0 5
"the can holds ammo, so it serves its purpose even if it looks ugly. I feel that people should know that there were rat feces in my can. I think CTD should inspect these before shipping, could be dangerous especially when air rushes out of the sealed can, that can be a bit of a health hazard."
4.0 5
"Just got my ammo can. It was in excellent condition. No dents or rust. Just needs a little cleaning."
5.0 5
"just bought 3 of these cans and they all came factory fresh!! didn't even need to clean them, not even 1 scratch on them at all, will buy more!! thanks CTD!!!!"
5.0 5
"They came in not quite what I expected: they were better. I will get more."
5.0 5
"I bought this one a month ago. It came in very good condition. The inside and seal were in excellent. The outside had one small area of surface rust and stamping was faded. A 5 minutes worth of clean-up and they were ready for use! Will be ordering more.Excellent value!!"
5.0 5
"I bought ten of these, and they turned out to be in excellent condition. Good seals, no rust, what looks like repainting over the original contents, overall a great buy, and fast shipping."
3.0 5
"Not bad, some rust on the inside but ill be able to clean it out. The seal works, so its air tight. In the future I'll buy the grade 1 cans, the grade 1 cans are only 2 dollars more."
5.0 5
"The pics here are a lot worse than what I got. Other than a little dirt and a couple scratches, the 2 I got looked new. Sprayed with some soap and water, wiped them down and wow, new ammo cans. I went ahead and used a OD green touch up paint on a couple scratches but I didn't have to just my preference."
5.0 5
"This thing great... everything you'd expect from a true surplus can. Air tight, damn near bullet proof, and mine came in at about 95% condition; quite a pleasant suprise."
4.0 5
"Pretty happy with this one. Very good condition, clean and ready to fill with ammo. The only problem was the original stenciled lettering on the side that describes the content of the can was painted over with a tan color spray paint. Kind of takes away from the \uFFFDmilitary\uFFFD look of the can. I'm a little bummed over that but still a good can."
5.0 5
"I ordered 3 of these and they all looked better than the picture, almost no rust and some spray paint covering the words."
5.0 5
"Just received my 2 cans today. Excellent condition! No rust, no dents, much better than grade III. The only defect is the stencilling is spray painted over, but I don't care as I'm only using them for ammo storage. Thanks again CTD."
5.0 5
"Just got my ammo can. It was in excellent condition. No dents or rust. However the stencil was spray-panted over, but this was easily removed with some 600 grit wet sanding. Great Product!"
4.0 5
"Ordered 2 of these and they were both in the same shape. The stencil on the side of these was spray painted over, no big deal. Some minor scratches on the outside with some light rust in a few places. the insides of both of these cans was clean and looked brand new. The seals were still good on both. Just use them for ammo and gun parts/tool storage. I will be buying more of these in the future."
3.0 5
"A bit of a let down from CTD. No dents, mild rust, on the exterior of both cans (I ordered two of them). The paint was alright, but one of them was painted desert cammo, over top of the typical green. Both were for 5.56, instead of .50 cal. Both sealed okay. But, I guess that's why they are surplus, huh? Shipping was a little slow. I might go with the plastic ones next time. Overall, an okay deal, hence the 3 bullet rating."
5.0 5
"Dont worry about buying level 1, they're made of steel people! These are great cans at a great price, with great waterproof seals. Don't let the pic fool you."
5.0 5
"Okay, I was like, dude, I want an ammo can. Then I was like, dude, these are cheap and was like, dude, grade 1 is too expensive. Then I was like, dude, the grade 3s are cheap. Like four days later, I opened the door and was like, dude, it's here. I opened the box and was like, dude, it's almost brand new. Like, it has a couple of rust spots on the lid, and the seal is totally like new. Overall, I was like, dude, I really got a good deal to hold all my .223 ammo in."
5.0 5
"Alot better than expected. Took a chance on a Grade 3 and am glad I did. It was obviously repainted inside and therefore I considered a grade 1 (no rust, good paint), the outside was not repainted so the shade was a little different but who cares. There was VERY minor rust that hadnt even bubbled the paint off on the outside, shuts tight, smooth hinge. Painted letters in great condition. Would recommend, but maybe I just got lucky who knows."
5.0 5
"Just echoing what everyone else had said...kinda nervous about buying it but mine showed up (two days later) in great condition, not a bit of rust, finish looks excellent. Had some sort of what looks like a plant holder inside of it, but after I chunked that, fits everything pretty well. Five bullets for sure."
5.0 5
"The ammo can I received had for the most part NO rust on it. Really, there couldn't have been more than a square inch, inch and a half of rust on this thing. Seal was in excellent condition as well. Seals like a dream. Makes me think CTD picks some of the better looking cans to ship out. My two cents, get it. Just get it, perfect for storing pretty much anything that will fit in it. You will not be disappointed."
5.0 5
"These things are worth the money I'm very happy with the few I have. They are definitely used (one had some sand still in it and spray paint all over it and that is fine because that it what I got them for."
4.0 5
"Like the naturial look- nice and dirty right out of the box."
4.0 5
"Pretty good for grade III!! I ordered 3. only 2 had some rust (only in a couple spots and nothing major). no dents on any. the ammo markings on the side of all 3 were covered by tan spray paint. good thing I have my OD spray paint to fix that! Get them while they're hot!"
4.0 5
"I've gotten several of these, all with a bit of rust. A little sanding, some flat black krylon and they look awesome like brand new but a better color! Only had one with a minor dent in the top lid, seals good on all."
4.0 5
"My ammo cans arrived in good condition with no rust or dents. The only difference with these grade III cans and the grade I cans was orange spray paint on the ends of the lid & writing with marker on the lid & sides. Very satisfied!"
4.0 5
"Good price. I store my ammo in it and it works fine. Condition of mine is better than the picture."
5.0 5
"I got 2 ammo cans, one of them was in grade 1 condition and I got this one. there was no difference between them other than this one was a little dirty. It was a lot better looking than pictured."
5.0 5
"Good box, mine was grade- 2 ordering more."
5.0 5
"I ordered 3 of these expecting them to be dented and full of rust. They came in good condition, the seals were intact and only some minor surface rust. The markings had been painted over and there is some odor, but who cares. At $8 a piece, you'd be hard pressed to find a storage can as durable and air/watertight."
5.0 5
"Just what I have come to expect from CTD, better than advertised! The insides of mine were perfect, maybe a few small samples of some dessert inside but looked new inside after dumping the few bits of sand and pebbles out.The outsides looked great on 5 of them, slight surface rust where the cans touch each other when stacked and some spots of paint where they sprayed over the writing on the cans. The 6th one had several layers of masking tape on the lid that was a real pain to clean off.All seemed to close up pretty well and do their job of storing ammo well!I need about 10 more!"
5.0 5
"I think the one in the picture is the worse one they could find. Mine showed up with no rust and some paint of another color. Great for all my 9mm."
5.0 5
"I ordered 8 of these and only one had more than a spot of rust on the corners. Every single one was like new on the inside!"
5.0 5
"I just picked up three of these and besides some desert sand, there was nothing wrong with them at all. A bit of oil on them and they were brand new. WILL be ordering more of these."
2.0 5
"Ordered 5 of these cans expecting some rust, scratches and dents. They all looked like they had been stored in damp conditions or outside in the weather. Judging from the amount of oily, rusty, areas on the sides and bottoms of cans, they were more like Grade III quality. They don't match the definition given for Grade II. I would have bought Grade I for $5.00 a piece more from a competitor if I had known how rusty these cans were going to be."
5.0 5
"It showed up as expected. Slight wear, a little sand inside. Great overall condition, service-usable piece of equipment."
3.0 5
"I purchased five of these. Two of them were in good condition. Two of them needed a bit of work. And one of them was in horrible shape (seemed more like grade 3 or 4). There was rust inside and out, and some were bent so bad that the seal didn't even line up. If you purchase these, plan on having to do some work on them before they are usable."
5.0 5
"I am very please with the ammo boxes I received. They did some minor surface rust, but not at all bad for the price. Will be buying more."
4.0 5
"Some of the 10 cans I ordered needed a little cleaning and sprayed with rust converter, but for Grade two they were in excellent condition."
5.0 5
"Thanks CTD! Bought 2 of these with a large order. I'm going to buy more! My local gun shop wants 20-25 bucks for new ammo cans, which are fake. These had very little surface rust around the hinges and edges of the top, and handle. Inside, they were clean, and had good seals. A little 'water displacement 40' and some blue towels and they are back into service."
5.0 5
"This is a follow up review. I bought 2 more of these, after having bought 2 from CTD last month. Quick, reliable shipping, as usual. These were about the same condition. A little surface rust outside, around the seams, handle, and lock. Nothing major. Spray em down with WD. No big dents, clean inside, and good seals. Thanks again CTD!"
5.0 5
"All cans better than expected. Would rate them grade II++. Very little visible rust."
4.0 5
"Received two 5.56 ammo cans even though they were listed as 50 cal; not a problem. The cans were in excellent condition with minor rust that is easily cleaned up. Excellent storage container for ammo as well as many other items."
5.0 5
"Bought two of these to see what you got for your money, and I am really impressed. Outside rust was minor and the insides and the lid seal are clean and undamaged. One of my local gun stores is selling cans worse than this for over double the price of CTD, and they are some nasty cans. I cannot fault the ones here."
4.0 5
"Received this today only took 5 business days to get, pretty quick! This was my first order from CTD and I got exactly what they described. This ammo can had some light rust on the outside of the can and some sand on the inside. Other than a quick wipe down cleaning with some simple green (except the rubber seal) every thing is good to go. The only negative is the the latch feels gritty like there is rust or sand in the latch. Other than that good product and a great price."
5.0 5
"For Grade II ammo cans, mine arrived in great shape, just a few small rust patches on the outside and the insides were clean and dry. A quick wipedown and they were ready for use. Can't beat them at this price."
5.0 5
"light rust on some but seals all good.cleaned and cammo paint, look just like new. very good deal"
5.0 5
"Recived two of this. Just what I thought they would be. Rusty on the outside nice inside. Someone said they could get this box for 5.00 bucks. There is a surplus store a few miles from me. They are asking and getting 15.00 dollars for grade III and worse.so thank you CTD."
5.0 5
"I ordered 18 cans. All in great shape and some even looked unused, the others required minimal cleaning!"
1.0 5
"The entire width of one end is completely rusted through. That's not grade II."
3.0 5
"Bought one for a trial run. Some rust and dents, but a light sanding, minor body work with a coat of primer and new camo paint, looks just like, if not better than, the $20.00 ones being sold locally. If you don't mind using a little elbow grease, these are an excellent buy. If you want something better, then pay the price."
4.0 5
"I've bought two lots of these, and to those who complain about the hit-or-miss quality, I say - you're buying GRADE II ammo cans!!! If you want them to be pristine, fork over the money for Grade I's, or pay triple that per can for the immitation Chinese knockoffs at Dick's or Cabela's. All of my Grade II ammo cans have needed at least a little cleaning up, and a couple needed to be hosed down with WD-40 and spot painted. Bur for this price, with what you get in return, that isn't even really an inconvenience."
4.0 5
"This is the third grade 2 ammo can I have ordered from ctd. and for the price of these cans you need to expect to see some dents and rust. If your willing to spend 20 mins cleaning them up with some heavy steel wool and 3in1 oil you will have a solid ammo can. If your someone like me who likes the military used/beat up look then these cans are great and like I said after a little elbow grease- still very functional"
5.0 5
"I ordered 4 of these items and was pleasantly surprised to find each of them in used but excellent condition thank you CTD"
2.0 5
"Grade II must equal rusty. Pay the extra couple of bucks and get a plastic- larger ammo can."
