"I bought this scope because a buddy of mine said they were the best for H&K rifles. He wasn\uFFFDt kidding this scope rocks and was he surprised when I bought an illuminator though. He didn\uFFFDt think they were available and the salesperson just happened to mention it. My buddy is jealous now."

"Wow !! This scope is the real deal. My package was on my doorstep 3 days afer ordering online , and I am really impressed as to the quality AND condition of the scope and the entire kit including the case!! It looks as if it has never been opened...I also purchased the recticle illuminator (SCP-972) . It is very compact and fits snugly on the scope. It is so small that it fits in the scope case !! a big plus !! Thanks CTD for being able to offer such quality accessories at such reasonable prices!! Excuse me but I've more shopping to do ...!! Again, Thanks !!"

"I went to a gun show and dealer had a used mount \"only\"; wanted $400. For the same money, I purchased this package. Same mount plus scope. Just received the scope/mount and I can tell you it is the real deal. A few wear marks on the mount and dials, but after 2 minutes with super-blue and touchup paint, it looks brand new. Purchased the illuminator, worth the $30."

"I bought this scope for my HK91 as I wanted a historically authentic optic. The scope functions fine once you figure out how the claw mount works. The mount and scope itself show signs of wear which is to be expected, however the rubber caps were somewhat dry rotted causing one to quickly break off after a few uses. Annoying but no biggie. What really threw me off and took several hours to figure out is that when I recieved the scope it was actually BACKWARDS on the mount itself. Had to be unscrewed and reversed. The illuminator is simple but works great. I have to admit I don't know what the heck theyre talking about when they say it has three knobs for elevation, windage, and distance. It has TWO knobs (count 'em, you can plainly see the pic) that only account for vertical and horizontal. Overall I'm happy with this purchase, works great. But its a bit misadvertised and the backwards mounting could really screw someone up if they didn't figure it out. Buyer Beware!"

"I took a chance on this scope hoping it would fit my ptr-91. Unfortunately, it wouldn't clamp down. I did some research and found that some of the ptr-91's have thicker receivers. Returned to CTD without any problems."

"Scope was in great, almost new shape. Came with case, cleaning kit and sun filter. Windage and elevation are like the Soviet style knobs in that you can zero both windage and elevation and range then make condition changes. Adjustment is 1cm at 100m per click. Also got illuminator and it fits perfect. Looks like its original equipment. Thanks!"

"All I can say is WOW! This is one of the best buy's I've had in a long time. It is in as \"like new\" condition as I could have hoped for. I had it zeroed at 100m in 17 rnd's, removed it put it back on and was right back on my original zero. German engineering at it's best. Only one gripe...I don't read German but my son's highschool German class is paying off. So you might want to get a translator."

"I searched a long time to find this scope kit in \"very good\" condition and at a decent price. I received the kit and was extremely surprised and satisfied to discover what appears to be a brand new scope and mount. Thanks CheaperThanDirt."

"I was exspecting to get a slightly used scope at best, what I personally recieved was a BRAND NEW SCOPE!, I am very picky and beleave me I have examined my scope and it absolutly has never been mounted on a rifle! even the hard military case is in prestine condition. I cant say enough about how satisfyed I am with my purchase. The only issue I had was that the scope was mounted backwards on the claw mount, no big deal, two screws and flip it around. I was exspecting a lot less, In fact I was prepared to send it back and buy a advertised NEW scope on ebay for 499.00, I am glad I didnt as it surely came from the same place as CTD gets theirs."

"The scope is NOT mounted backwards and should be mounted as shown in the above photo. Simply remove the plastic bumper that interferes with rifle rear sight mount and the claw mount should attach with no issues. Gently pull, pry, or push plastic away from base. You'll see the bumper is a slip fit press with two plastic protrusions into the claw mount. It's possible to pry loose with thin blade just be careful not to scratch mount or you can push the two pins from the opposite side of the mount. Just a tip so you won't look like Pvt. Gomer Pile at the range."

"I received the scope yesterday on-time. It seems to be in new, unissued condition. Great value for the price, very cool reticle and the optional illlumination module works fine. As with some other reviewers I did, however, need to reverse the scope on the mount-it would not fit my PTR 91 KP otherwise. No problem-a little blue Loctite and this bad boy is good to go!"

"This scope is great ! it is made to be mounted to a few different rifles ,so removing the bumper is not the right answer just filp around remount and keep it stock hope you all got the illuminator with it well worth $26.00 and better then the Hensoldt issue, buy all this while you can ,Im surprized CTD dident get any of the hk 91 22lr conversion kits oh well they still rock alot more then the other guys who sell bath towls and dust ruffles"

"I received this scope and mount and it is in pristine condition. I am very impressed with it. The scope is mounted correctly, you just need to pull out the plastic bumper others have referenced. The scope covers are meant to be turned inside out to stay open. The illuminator is very useful and worthwhile to get; also very cool! I did initially have a problem when I went to boresight it in that it appeared to run out of windage. However, I did an internet search and came up with instructions on how to properly adjust the sight, and was able to zero it no problem with plenty of clicks left over for fine tuning. I mounted this on a JLD PTR-91K and it went on nice and tight with no adjustments needed. Also, unlike a Tapco mount I tried, this mount is perfectly level with the rifle. Here's the link I found for scope adjustment: http://www.mg-42.net/G3_hensoldt.htm"

"I just want to say this scope and mount is in PERFECT CONDITION and it must have NEVER been used. The scope is NOT backwards on the mount. You must remove the rubber grommet gently with a pair of pliers to use this on a PTR-91 or a Vector 93. My V-93 was out of spec BUT the mount fit just fine, just lay it in and pull the lever down FIRMLY. On both my PTR-91 and V-93 the mount would not click in backwards but they clicked just fine when inserted correct way with grommet removed. I am extremely pleased with my purchase!"

"I've read a number of reviews in which the reviewer indicates he could not get the scope mount to fit on the rifle. I have a PTR91 and mine had a piece forward of the rear sight that was higher than the later models and the HK original. I had to dremel the part of the mount that came in contact with the piece so the mount would lock down. Some other people may be having a similar problem so I thought I'd mention it. It's not the width or size of the receiver that is the problem it's the piece in front of the rear sight.I'm not sure what to make of the \"reversing the scope\" references. I've ordered a scope and will see when it comes in. Are people actually turning the mount around to get it to fit then having to \"reverse the scope to the correct position. I wonder if this is the issue."

"you can unscrew, rotate 180, and reattach the scope to the mount... your mount will now be attached backwards on the 91 series rifle. you should check scope zero because it left the factory already zero'd. be sure to wear your gomer pile hat to the range to warn me from a distance.or you can just remove the plastic bumper at the rear of the mount and attach the mount correctly with no further effort. later hk91 & clone rifles have a higher site base that interfers with the plastic bumper. earlier hk models that this mount was designed for had a lower rear sight base that cleared the bumper.+1 on the $30 illuminator... nice red led, small size, good all around."

"Got my scope in 2and a half days. ZF24 model, looks brand new. Only reason I gave it four bullets is because I had to file my receiver. It is an early model century cetme and they all need a little work. What I did was throw my clothes in the washer and start filing, get some cheap diamond encrusted files they work real nice. By the time my clothes were done,my scope was on. Thanks a lot CTD for having such good stuff. Thanks again folks!"

"I was thinking I was getting a used surplus scope. The one I received looks new! They are not mounted backwards!!! The rear sight on the HK91 is a little different from the HKG3. Just pry off the black plastic tab with a pocket knife, and you are set!!! Also order the reticle luminator. Very cool!!! It turns the reticle red. Very happy, and good price. Fast shipping."

"Scope and carry case are new, un-issued. Mount fits my PTR 91 perfectly. Only 4 stars because when the scope is mounted on the gun, the reticule is about 8 degrees crooked and STANAG mounts have no provision for leveling. Not huge deal, but irritating. That aside, the scope is zero'd, ready to go out of the box. Buy the illuminator when if you get the scope."

"I read all the CTD reviews about this German Scope Z24 and thought\"Why Not\" I bought a HK SR 9 (made in 1990 HK 91 Type Target Rifle-no flash-hider,20 heavy barrel) from my cousin last year. With just open sights the SR 9 will drive nails. I hoped I would get a scope that as good as the other buyers had written back about. I was not disappointed. The scope had maybe been put on a rifle once or twice. Scope and mount looked 95% new, and was dated 1986, only 4 years older than my SR 9. And yes I also had to pry off the rubber bumper on the rear of the scope base, and it fit perfect with no movement. I plan on testing it out tomorrow at my range with some 7.62 FMJ's. With the cost of quality scopes and mounts these days, it's a deal for HK 91 owners, received fast shipping too! I also liked the fact that even with the scope and mount in place, I can still use my iron sights if needed. English instructions can be viewed at www.mg-42.net Rodney W."

"Got this yesterday for my JLD PTR-91 and I could not be any happier! The scope and mount is *NEW*, if it were used I could not see any marks, dings, prints, etc. and I went over it very closely. Even came with the lenses wrapped up in optical paper, just like how it would be factory fresh. Mounting to the PTR-91 was a bit of a challenge, it was super tight but rock solid. Did scratch the receiver mount a bit, but my rifle is a shooter, not a collector's piece ;-). Zeroed perfectly. Great price, great value, great service. Thanks CheaperThanDirt ! Will be back for more !"

"Got this scope and mount after much research and worry about fit, ect.It DOES fit my new PTR 91 with no trouble. The scope is BRAND NEW, circa 1989 and the lens covers are perfect, too. Some reviewers say they were cracked, brittle, dry rotted, ect., but these look like the day they were made.I also got 2 reticle illuminators (I read a review that said they were problematic), but they both work fine. I have a B-Square mount for HK series and it works great, too, but I am retiring it to backup duty on my other HK 91 caebine, emergency use only.A GREAT deal on a GREAT scope/mount/case, and it was delivered on time. Sales person was EXTREMELY helpful and friendly, as well as knowing the product line!I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone with a HK or clone !!"

"This scope is simply outstanding...and worth the $. I was not so sure a fixed 4x on my PTR-91 would be the right setup, but have no doubts now. Finally got a chance to take it to the range today...quickly operated the claw mount and locked it securelypopped the lens caps inside out so they didn't flap in my wayturned on the illuminator...(didn't work-dead batteries)lined up at 100ydsfired off seven roundsmade one simple adjustment for lateral using a coin (referred to Hensoldt manual found online) fired off three roundsmade one simple adjustment for elevationZEROED. It was extremely easy to dial in.The scope itself is in great condition. The lens caps are worn, but this is understandable. The mount is also in great condition and is easy to use. I simply removed the plastic bumper as recommended by other comments on CTD and it lined up / snapped in place as expected. The illuminator is simply SWEET. I highly recommend...just remember to turn it off."

"Purchased this scope for my HK91. I was sure that my luck would result in me receiving one that was beat up, but like many previous reviewers have stated, the scope is in near-perfect condition. The scope appears to have been used but shows no wear except for a 1/8\" mark on the scope body and a few more marks on the claw mount, none through the finish. The scope was a little dusty and the glass needed to be wiped clean. The rubber caps look good but I decided to use some Butler Creek ones instead (size 03A for both the eye piece and objective). I had to pry off the plastic tab on the back of the claw mount to get it to mount correctly on my HK91 due to an interference with the HK91's rear sight. The claw mount locked down snugly on the rifle. The scope came with the standard case, sun filter, and cleaning/maintenance kit, all in like-new condition. Looking forward to my next range outing. Another awesome deal from Cheaper Than Dirt! Don't forget to check out mg-42.net for some great info on this scope!"

"I've got an H&K 91-A2 that's STILL N.I.B. Don't really plan on making a \"shooter\" out of it but just in case the crap ever hits the fan I really need a scope to put on it so I figured I'd get one of these and if it turned out to be a piece of junk there's always some nut on E-BAY that would take it off of my hands. What I got was a NEW Hensoldt scope circi 1985! Not a mark on the scope or the claw mount, the cleaning kit is new and the sun filter has never even been taken out of the sealed plastic bag. The scope case has a small hairline crack on the front but that's to be expected from 24 year old plastic! A little bit of O.D duct tape on the case will keep the crack from spreading. Guaranty this scope will go on the rifle if needed. BTW the rubber scope caps are still nice and pliable and the scope wasn't mounted backwards, in case you buy one, \"SchuBrichtung\" on the bottom of the claw mount means \" direction of fire\" Seems like the Germans really were sticklers for details."

"I have the same comments as previous entries. The scope and mount are outstanding. zIt will turn your rifle from a common rifle to a special rifle, it's well worth the money. Be sure to order the illuminator which is a separate order number for 19.95. A word to the wise, you have a considerable amount of $ invested in your rifle and the scope/mount. So order two illuminators. If the bulb shoots craps, put the other one on. The mount just didn't want to seem to click on right until I removed the plastic that others have mentioned, then the scope clicked on perfect. I wonder what the purpose of the plastic piece is----\"ve know vat ve are doing\"---must be for some reason."

"Recived promptly and was in like-new condition. I have been looking for about 10 years for a good deal on the mount and scope. This was it! Quality optics, as expected from Zeiss. You must get the illuminator with it. Great bargain at $20. Fit my 91 great with no issues after you remove the plastic bumper pad that sits against the rear sight. Locks up rock solid. I can't wait to hit the range with it!"

"My new Hensoldt Fero Z24 Sniper Scope arrived quickly & in beautiful condition. I also ordered the illuminator with it. The problem I am having is trying to mount the claw to my HK91 rifle. The rifle has clearly marked places for the 4 claws, but I can't seem to lock it into place. I am afraid to exert any force as I don't want to scratch the rifle or damage the mount. I tried removing the rear iron sight but that hasn't made it any easier. Besides I can't believe the design would necessitate its removal. I read that one owner used a dremel on his rifle to make the claw fit but that seems a little drastic. I am reluctant to alter my beautiful rifle permanently before knowing exactly what I am doing. Any suggestions out there?"

"I ordered the scope (and 2 illuminators as suggested. I have a PTR-91SC which comes with a picatinny rail welded immediately forward of the iron sight. With the added height of the rail the scopes CLAW-Grip won't grab the 4 mounting points. Has anyone else ran into this issue? I'd hate to return this quality scope."

"I was real apprehensive about spending this much money on this scope for my PTR-91 due to the fact that I'm more of \"spray and pray\" kind of dude instead of being hung up on accuracy, but this scope is excellent. Due to the limited space I had to shoot in, I wasn't able to shoot over about 60-70 yards today to sight it in, but I shot the bullseye out in the first 10 rounds, and was just aiming at the hole in the paper after that. I didn't have to adjust anything out of the box, it was just on. Even without instructions or being mechanically inclined, it only took me a minute to figure out to mount this thing. My only complaint is that it would be nice if CTD would print up some instructions in english on how to use the knobs on this thing. Other than that, well worth the money."

"Delievery was very quick. But when I opened the case, I was very disappointed due to the scope's exterior condition. Scope had alot of scratches (minor and moderate). Though the mount appeared in very condition. I mounted it on my PTR91 and hit the range. I was again very disappointed when the scope did not sight in (I do have the english version manual). When I called the return/exchange dept., I was suprised by their representative whom did not try to convince me to exchange it, since I really wanted one but expected one that worked due to the great reviews. Thus, I just asked for a refund (pending). Bad first time impression for me. I may try again to be a customer in the future."

"One word... WOW!!! Unissued, unused, untouched. I can't believe I was fortunate enough to get one like this. Carrying case had 1 scratch from storage, other than that...perfect. Almost too good to mount, but that's why I have a \"beater\" scope. Also bought the Leapers illuminator and am not dissappointed. Hope you can get one as good as this!"

"Upon initial inspection case was unmarked with crack down the front but otherwise still sturdy. Extracted scope and found it and the mount to be unmarked and appeared to be unissued. Removed lens caps and class was crystal clear. Inspected reticule adjustment knobs and screws even appeared to have never been touched. Mounted scope on my PTR 91KFO, didn't even need to pry off the plastic bumper on the claw mount and zeroed the rifle. I then removed the scope and reinstalled it 4 times and it returned to zero each time. Very Impressive"

"Just got mine today and I'm really impressed. I got lucky, mine was new in the case with the absorbant brown crinkle wrapper on the scope body and mount. Just like factory new HK parts! Everything is mint condition and looks as if it's been waiting patiently since the cold war to be mounted and used. The glass is clear and bright all the way to edges, just like the fines Leica, Zeiss and Kowa optics I own. Normally just the bare mount goes for about this pirce or more, so to get a great scope and all original accessories is just unheard of. Buy with confidence and don't look back."

"I'll admit that I was a little bit skeptical about the condition as listed of these scopes. After reading all of the feedback on these I decided to roll the dice and take a chance. Let me say that I could not be any happier with what I got. It seriously could not get any better, and I mean that! The can was still sealed in the factory plastic with the seal intact! When I opened it up on top the factory dessicant was present and the scope and mount had the factory paper and tape wrap still on them! The one that I was lucky enough to get is definately unissued and 100% stone mint! The scope, mount, tools, and case are all in 100% stone cold perfect mint condition! I did not expect this! But wow! I honestly could not be any happier with this deal, and I mean that. Furthermore I received it 22 hours after I placed my order! And I did not pay extra for overnight shipping! I was told it would take 3-5 business days, and it took a mere 22 hours to find my doorstep! That is incredible! (Please keep in mind though that I only live about 450 miles away from the warehouse, but still!) My last comment is on the order placing itself. The guy who I spoke with on the phone was courteous and knowledgable and contributed to making my first purchase a very pleasant experience.I will definately use cheaper than dirt again!"

"What an amazing deal!. Scope was essentially brand new. MFG. in 1985. Mounted right to my AWXXXX sn ptr-91, took to range and sigted in no problem. Here's a hint. If you don't understand the claw mount system, PLEASE do some research on the net before you do anything like dremeling, hammering, or using a 10 ton press to install your scope. It should go on easy, and locking the lever doesn't take very much force. I was able to keep the rubber rear bumnper on my mount as well. Also, do some research on the net re. zeroing the scope. Very easy to do.Excellent buy. I may get another as a backup! 20 years ago I bet you would have paid double for one of these."

"At least not on mine. I haven't tried it on a PTR-91, so it may work fine on those. The CETME has a very thin sheet metal over the receiver. This mount pinches the receiver and prevents the bolt assembly from cycling. I gave it four bullets because it should work on the much more sturdy PTR or HK and the German optic is like new. Too bad. I may try the UTG/leapers mount available on this site for $70. I may also try to find a Stanag mount for a Weaver rail so that I can still use the scope, which is of very high quality."

"This was a brand new scope mounted on a slightly used base. You can see some wear marks on the claw mount, but the scope was wrapped in tissue paper and there was lens paper protecting the glass. There's a screwdriver and a cleaning brush enclosed in a vinyl pouch. There's waterproof lens covers, a carrying case and a tinted lens too. Buy this item from CTD, if it's not in stock, then wait for it. They sent me an email saying they were in stock, bought it on a Monday and got it that Thursday."

"The shipping was fast. I placed the order on Friday and it arrived on Tuesday. I would describe the condition as NOS (new old stock). My scope is dated 1985. It appears to have been sitting in the warehouse unissued since that time."

"Better than expected! Fast shipping was just the icing on the cake. The scope is mint! With all of the related accessories. The mount fits perfectly on my PTR91 without any fussing. I have seen this scope elsewhere for almost double the CTD price. This is the sleeper deal of the year! Buy one even if you don\uFFFDt need it just because it is all that!"

"After reading these reviews, I had to have this optic for my mint HK91. The optic came very lightly used, and in great condition. For my year HK (German made) I had to remove the plastic piece on the back which came off cleanly and easily with a regular razor blade. the mount fits beautifully and does not mar the reciever finish as I had been warned that it would. The UTG light source acted just like most of these reviews said it would. It was unreliable to say the least and wouldn't stay lit even during testing at my desk. I called CTD and they said they would send me another one right away. Great service, Great product, Very happy with this deal!"

"Field trial: the mount snapped onto my ptr91 easily, no scratching of the rifle's finish either. Had to take the rubber bumper off because it encroached on the iron sights, I pried it off with my pocketknife easily. The scope zeroed onto target beautifully and then stayed there. It picked up zero again after removing and attaching the mount numerous times. The scope has a sweet military reticle too. Fired 200 rounds and the scope did not disappoint, my wibbly-wobbly shooting platform did though."

"I have tried almost every mount on my PTR91 and finally talked myself into this little Hensoldt Fero 4x. I've come to the conclusion it's the most practical and solid setup for this battle rifle. Germany spent a lot of money in the design of this no-frills scope which is high quality glass even if it is 20+ years old. It was made for this rifle and after you use it awhile you will see how it adds a whole new dimension to your HK91 or PTR91 rifle. If you open the locking claws and lower it down into position over the saddle on the rear sight then rock it down and over gently into position then use the little black plastic bumper on the rear of the clawmount to guide you, when it almost touches the rear sight drum its in position then, pull down gently on the lock lever till it clicks locked. It takes very little pull to lock it if all is right. If it dosent lock easily, let off and relocate it fore or aft and try again. Don't pull on the lever harder than about what a 2 liter coke bottle weighs or you will break off the pins under the lever. HKpro.com has a webpage that goes into more detail than this and has great pictures to guide you if there is a problem getting it to mount. Once you get familiar with it you can take it off and on in about 5 seconds ."

"I JUST GOT MY Z-24 SCOPE, VERY FAST SERVICE.IT IS IN GOOD TO NICE CONDITION. I ORDERED ONE OF THESE ABOUT A YEAR AGO, IT WAS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE AND IT CAME WITH A LENS BRUSH,SUN FILTER, AND A HARD CASE.THIS ONE HAD WEAR MARKS AND ONE OF THE RUBBER LENS CAPS IS CUT IN HALF. IT ONLY CAME WITH A CHEAP CASE.IT IS STILL A VERY NICE SCOPE AND THE PRICE IS WHAT IS. YOU CAN NOT FIND THIS SCOPE VERY OFTEN ON THE MARKET AT ANY PRICE."

"I purchased this scope after all of the great reviews it had posted and figured I'd give it a shot seeing as I have been unable to find a satisfactory scope for my PTR-91. I received this scope yesterday and was slightly disappointed by the obviously well used Z24 that did not include the sun filter (as many described) but did come with a well-used lens brush. The optics appeared to be in great condition but the scope (and mount for that matter) has many wear marks upon it. I was hoping for a \"new in box\" scope or at least a lightly used scope but seeing as it is military surplus, I figured I'd make my final decision after trying it out.Today I tested it out. Words can not describe how pleased I am with its performance. The STANAG mount fits 100% PERFECT on my PTR91! I had issues with the UTG mount that ended up marring up the surface of my rifle. The mount snaps into place as easy as pie and it is super sturdy. Unlike many other people who bought this, I did not have to make any modifications, nor remove the rubber bumper that many said conflicted with the rear iron sight. I have never had a scope that sighted in this easily and kept its zero on a larger caliber rifle. Even after removal and replacment of the optic ten-or-so times, it still kept its zero.Overall, any disappointment over the physical aspects of this scope are out-shined by its incredible performance on this rifle. If I had the money, I would buy another one to keep stored just in case! Well worth every penny!"

"I was apprehensive, to say the least, before purchasing a scope that I couldn't physically hold and see; especially taking into consideration that this was once used abroad by military personnel. However, many people have personally given me assurances that CTD is unequivocally reputable across the board.Their assurances were correct. I received my order far before I expected and the quality is impeccable. I have been wanting this scope for years now, CTD has made a dream come true for myself and for my preban 91. As others have stated, the optics are extremely clear. The carrying case has a few scuffs and dings but nothing terrible- gives it character and makes you wonder about the stories it could tell you if it could talk.Thank you again CTD, this is undoubtedly the best purchase I have made in years."

"Scope was advertised in \"excellent\" condition - mine was certainly not. Tube had scratches and dents from someone using hard object to pry of front cover. Bought this after purchasing a ZF model (SCP-971)for $200.00 less that was advertised as \"grade 2\" - it was in better condition than the Z24 I received."

"Just got it today after 3 days shipping. Opened it up to find a brand new scope marked 1988. Put it on an early PTR91 (JLD Enterprises). Took off rubber bumper and after some fiddling and figuring, it mounts up mint. Glass is crystal clear. Not a scratch or mark on this one. Not even on the claws. I highly recommend this scope"

"I read the other reviews - some glowing, some not so much - and figured I'd take my chances. I hit the jackpot. This scope, case, base, and accessories were all pristine. If this thing was issued, it was to an accountant who threw it in a desk and kept it there. It was clearly old, but absolutely brand new and perfect. It fit my PTR perfectly and I can still use the iron sights. I can't imagine this thing was ever mounted at all. It had no scratches, marks, or any signs it was touched.Way to go, CTD. Great find, great buy. I'm sorry to you guys who got more worn out scopes."
